The care we received in the ER when my daughter had a head wound last fall was perfectly acceptable. The trouble started when I got the bill. Tristar has apparently coded the procedure incorrectly (or BCBS is playing some nasty tricks), and BCBS won't pay it. First, it's an outrageous charge for skin glue (no diagnostics, no medicine, saw a PA instead of a doctor, still charged $2200). But second, every time I have called customer service on my own or in conjunction with BCBS, they are immediately belligerent. I just got off the phone with someone who seemed incredibly angry with me, and I was not at all confrontational. No doubt BCBS is at fault, as well, but they are much friendlier and at least pretend to be helpful. I just need for the coding experts at the 2 entities to get together on a conversation, but Tristar gets mad when I even suggest it. It is supposedly out for review (for the 3rd time), but I don't have great confidence in the outcome. If someone from quality assurance or billing is reading this, please let me know who to speak with to make sure this is resolved for good.
