Great shows, awesome people watching, and good friends.
Great shows, awesome people watching, and good friends.
Good times had by all. And dress up in costume, everyone else will be. Bring your own water and food if you want, but the food there is really good. Hey tickets online before you show up, and get there by noon so you can get good parking.
Always a great experience! Anything on a stick is the best.
The shows were great but the patrons are very rude and everything was so over priced it made the stadium prices look cheap
Best faire I've been to. Excellent quality food, entertainment and merchandise. Beautiful grounds. Well maintained.
Always crowded. Only cash. Two atms and always a line. To many mouth breathers.
Fun, but very overcrowded lately. It's become challenging to move around the fair.
Love the festival. Friendly people, awesome costume, good food and etc. Love it.
LINES! LINES GET YOUR LINES! HOT QUEUES HERE! Seriously somebody needs to start counting heads at the door because the crowds are getting out of control. Long waits to get into the parking lot, masses of people waiting 30 minutes to an hour standing in lines everywhere to get food or (ONLY ONE) drink.. Been going for years but it wasn't like this. Went only twice this year, it was way too crowded both times. Some of the vendors were serving pretty gross low-end food service junk. Not always fresh either somehow despite the massive turnover, and it should have been. Saw several dessicated leathery looking uneaten turkey legs abandoned on the ground. A little disappointing. Going to mark this one Needs Improvement.
I love dressing up ,browsing shops and how envolved everyone is!
Could use some new vendors. See the same stuff year after year. Kind of getting stale for me.
I've been to the Renaissance festivals before but the one in Maryland is by far the biggest and the best.
Mead, turkey legs, and jousting! Who could ask for more?
A great place to feel like you're living in a completely different age. The staff have been nothing but lovely to me and my friends. Prices can be a little high, but just about everything is high quality and handmade, so it's worth it.
This is hands down the best renfest on the east coast.
We had a wonderful time! Lots of great food, performances, and acts. Parking was pretty good too.
Hadn't been here since I was a kid, now taking my own 2. Had a wonderful day seeing as many of the shows as we could and the jousting show at the end of the day. Get your seats for the jousting show WAY BEFOREHAND We missed the one in the middle of the day because there were a huge wall of people. So we went an hour early before the next one (which was already starting to fill in!)but got good spots. Overall, we will for certain be making this an annual thing as I missed so much great food!!
There were tons of different acts, some of them great and some of them just okay. The grounds were fantastic. The food was very diverse and delicious. We had a great experience!
The Maryland Renaissance Festival is a magical place to spend a day out with your family, friends, or colleagues. Its the one place where you can enjoy almost anything on a stick and be drunk before noon. You can attend comedy shows, live music, or even acrobatics here, all while in the fictional village of Revel Grove. The King, Queen and their court will walk around, observing and participating in everything the festival has to offer. Enjoy a day of merriment!
Loved it! Lines were long, sure, but the mead is to die for! I say check it out, but do so early to beat traffic and long lines.
Love this place. I go be very year and usually spend a good amount of time and money at O'Shucks. $9 for half a dozen oysters a d a draft beer. Can't beat it!
It was an amazing experience, I would definitely come back again next year
Always fun and has been fun for decades. Wait, for centuries!
Love going to the renn fest every year. Definitely need to go early, because it fills up fast. Also, make sure and bring plenty of cash to avoid the long lines at the ATM, food and beer/wine are cash only.
Need more places to be able to sit. Was told very rudely by a shop keeper that we couldn't sit to watch a children's show when all the seats were taken and my 3 year old was tired. Also if I'm going to pay $2 for water than it needs to be cold.
Pro Tip: I get all of my spices for the year at the Herbalist Delight shop and save a fortune over McCormick.
For over 30 years I've made my annual pilgrimage to the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville. Though I don't participate in dress-up and merriment, I really enjoy seeing others participate and revel.
They have expanded the grounds over the years to include more craftsmen, food choices, and entertainment. With five or more stages operating, there is always something going on.
Thousands of people attend each weekend and they have done a terrific job managing traffic and parking. And with the expanded festival, there is more room for the attendees to spread out and not walk on one another.
Whether you go to dress up, enjoy the entertainment choices, try the food, or just to watch the people, you should go at least one time for the experience. If you're like me, you'll keep going back.
Expensive, but still fun after 20 years. I come back every year.
Very crowded the last few years, which can make for good people watching, but detracts from the main reason for going in the first place. Almost everything has a long line, seating is almost impossible for the arena events, and the noise level becomes deafening at times. Because of this, you end up missing out on some of the arena and theater events, which means your $25 entrance ticket is mostly to gain access to all the overpriced shops in the fair. We won't be going back next year.
Great entertainment value, the jousting is real, not a "Midieval Times" style show.
It was raining and muddy when I went, but it was still fun. The various theatres are entertaining as is the jousting. I loved looking at all the different costumes the patrons were wearing
A fun and relaxing atmosphere, prepare to spend the day and enjoy! Turkey leg highly recommended!!
I go as many times as I can every year, I look forward to it all year. It's so pleasant and an accepting environment. Love it!
Great event! If you ever was interested in fantasy it's a must-go. Also you can get some unusual food or buy great teas/spices very cheap!
Great every year! A wide variety of food, drink, crafts, and performers.
Lots to see and shop for. Go on a dry cool day. We went the day after a thunderstorm and the mud was deep. They accept plastic, but have some cash for the smaller vendors.
It's a lot of fun, good food and entertainment lots to do and watch
My family loves to go here. It's okay for me but it's getting too expensive to see the same thing year after year. You basically pay $25 to walk in the sun and buy food and beverages.
The best for great food, fun shows and a chance to experience Renaissance kitsch.
I've gone every year since I was ten. It's a family tradition!
The MD Ren Fest lasts from late August to the end of October and is absolutely worth a visit. The food is moderately priced (although a lot of it is deep-fried), there are a ton of bars, live music, events, and endless games and shows. You could go multiple weekends and still never see everything.
They have lots of vendors selling everything from honey (Bee Folks) to ceramics (Tessem Stoneware).
Just a warning: You can't buy a season pass and share it - they'll ask for ID at the door to go with the name on multi day passes.
You CAN bring in food, but they do not allow you to bring in your own beverages (sealed water is ok, but alcohol is not).
No thanks! They continue to condone elephant rides from Frank Murray, notorious for abusing elephants.
My first time at the MD Renn Faire. I loved the costumes, the buildings and the shops. The food was decent and priced well. There were two reasons I did not give 5 stars. The first was the crowd. There are so many people that its like going to Disney. Grab your kids' and don't get separated! The second reason is the prices in the shops. My husband though about getting some boots and they were $600. My daughter fell in love with a vest style corset and it was over $100. I know everything is well made and handmade, but I do with they had less costly items for people who want to buy novelty souvenirs. We ended up finding horns, ears and masks for less than $20 each so that is what we bought, but we were disappointed that we saw so many beautiful things that were outrageously priced.
Fun in the sun, lame in the rain. Good for the whole family, stuff for everyone. Axe throwing? Yes, please.
My favorite time of the year! Turkey legs are a must!
Lots of vendors, huge selection of food, prices were better than I expected, lots of entertainment.
There's literally no ticket line for entrance. Alcohol line is packed. I loved the environment and people. It was an awesome experience.
Fun people watching and enjoying the outside in this relaxing space. Beer selection is limited from what I saw. Mostly Sam Adams and other national brews. Can be long lines.
I love the fun atmosphere, food, entertainment and all the attractions! This is a must see every year
Super fun on the last day. Almost everyone was dressed up!
We've been coming every year for at least the past 20,and it just gets better. Sure, some of the great old acts are gone (Squire on a Wire comes to mind), but there's always something new to see no matter how many times you come.
it's all nice and fun until you need to use the bathroom... just very unclean
I loved it! The only problem is that I can't afford to buy the whole thing!
This is the best Renaissance Festival I've ever been to. If you like them you have to make your way out here at least once in your lifetime no matter how far!!
Had an absolute blast!!!! Make sure you rent a costume for the best experience!
An awesome place for friends and family. Food and drink are relatively inexpensive. Lots of activities for kids and shows for all. Dont miss the jousting. Pro tip: Use carriers or backpacks for kids, NOT a stroller. Uneven ground, hills, crowds and possibly mud will make it a tough day.
First time ever going to a Renaissance Festival and it was some of the most fun I've ever had. The food was awesome (recommend try the Gyros), the theme was awesome and the few shows I was able to see were pretty good as well. Can't wait to go back and enjoy more of it next year. Also one thing to keep in mind is to bring alot of cash as many of the stands only take cash, there is ATMs there but the lines were long for them.
Always great spot for full entertainment, food drink, merriment. Would recommend taking little ones 3+ to be able to enjoy free pony rides, bubbles, theater and jousting. Shops are pretty great and the food and drink always make it fun.
Absolutely a wonderful fun-filled day. A visual, auditory and sensual experience.
So much fun you have to go back for another day to enjoy everything
Gorgeous permanent structures, beautiful location. The Brass Dragon is awesome!
Always a good time! Great food drinks and awesome staff. Wish they could serve more than one beer per person. I wanted to buy a round for my friends but they had to be with me. Other than that I love Ren Fair!
