Great retro decor and super convenient location within the airport! Friendly & thoughtful service.
Went by the airport and seeing this place make me wanna go stay a night here with the view of the planes landing and taking off.
You can also see the hot tub and the heated pool smoking from the rooftop during this cold weather. Love how the inside look...won't really go right now just because of covid-19. But in the future will love to go with the kids I'm sure they will love to look at the planes.
I was there for a conference and left my jacket in the conference room. I tried to pick it up the next day. There is no lost and found and nobody who feels responsible in helping you find it. I was told to submit a request in an online form.
HORRIBLE. Met friends who were staying there for drinks and dinner. The place is beautiful but beyond that it was awful. Lame lacking service. Staff decided to close the pool restaurant and bar 2.5 hrs early and not serve us or anyone else trying to get drinks and dinner. Earlier it took forever to get served at the half empty plane bar. Drinks and snacks good but not enough crackers for the food. They had to send out for more (and warned us this was going to take a long time). At 8:30 PM the cleaning staff started vacuuming the plane bar right in the middle of the now bigger crowd trying to enjoy their drinks. Rude and the carpet was already clean. Tons of staff doing nothing throughout the complex. Elevator doors that don t shut. Only one staff on the ball at the three bars / restaurants that we went to and he was doing double duty between the bars.
Signage to actually find the place was LACKING. One portable sign was turned around to send us back to the parking garage. No signs in the garage. You could see it. We were super close but with barriers at street level you couldn t get there. If you enter via terminal 5 go down to baggage level and turn right and look for a poorly marked elevator.
Sadly, I could go on and on about how awful the place was, but that would result in a novel.
It was great to see our friends but we will not be back until this place gets its act together (if it can). Our friends overnight stay consisted of ongoing problems one after another.
Pictures do do it justice. I lost the other pics of the terminal. Observation deck bar, infinity pool where they will have a done and fireplaces in the winter months. The staff wear vintage TWA swagg. Really cool
They have some amazing thing from when it was twa terminal
It never fails. Short tempered and dismissive receptionists with a lot of attitude. It feels like they don't grasp the difference between hospitality and hostility.
The old TWA terminal at JFK is now a popular hotel stay while visiting New York. Comfort and Quality available right at the airport. Great for layovers on those long trips.
Very cool, retro building. Rooms are comfortable but very spare. The amenities are first rate so it's surprising that the paper products are not.
When the TWA Flight Center opened in 1962 at New York s John F. Kennedy International Airport (then called Idlewild Airport), the jet age was just beginning.Closed 2001.
Now reopening May 15.2019!
I was staying at this beautiful hotel however two things i didn't like
#1) Literally from 7:00 a.m. till 12:00 a.m. every 10 minutes another worker knocked on the door
#2) The A/C and Heat didn't work well
I couldn't sleep it's the last thing you want to happen after a long flight
I arrived earlier, as before, I just mixed up the time and drove through the terminals for 3 hours. Accidentally hit this hotel. I am very impressed. To all lovers of retro, PanAm, h / f, catch me if you can and I highly recommend it to aesthetes and photographers. There is an excellent bar and restaurant. As usual there is a shift shop. Well, the hotel itself.
Pool is still closed, but amazing overall experience
Ok this is odd, it s akin to stepping back into the past which is comforting and disconcerting simultaneously. The rooms and decor along with the layout are absolutely awesome. The food at the bar is good, what s not good are the prices JFC this definitely caught up with inflation even though the decor did not. Overall a good experience deleting a star because this establishment is not the Ritz and the Ritz Fizz is definitely cheaper than some of the drinks
A VAST DISAPPOINTMENT.. WE BOOKED THIS HOTEL BACK IN THE SPRING.. WITH A PRINTED STATEMENT WE WOULD HAVE A RUN WAY VIEW FROM OUR ROOM,,WE PAYED ANOTHER $160.00 ON TOP OF THE STATED PRICE .. SO WHAT DO WE GET AFTER COMING BACK FROM OUR VACATION IN ITALY? DIFFICULTY IN FINDING THE HOTEL.WE KNEW IT WAS NEAR TERMINAL 5.. BUT SIGNAGE DIRECTING YOU THERE WAS MINIMAL. FINALLY ARRIVING TO THE RED CARPETED TUBE..WE GET TO THE CHECK IN/OUT DESK TO BE CONFRONTED WITH ATTEMPTING TO CHECK YOUR SELF IN.. THERE WERE ALSO A FEW COUPLES IN THEIR 80'S TRYING TO CHECK IN. NOW PICTURE THIS THERE ARE SEVERAL HOTEL EMPLOYEES JUST STANDING THERE.. ONE DID STEP UP AND ASSIST THE OLDER COUPLE ..AND AFTER A FEW THROAT CLEARING COUGHS FROM THE REST OF US .CUSTOMERS..ANOTHER EMPLOYEE ASSISTED.BUT THERE WAS ONE DAME.WHO JUST STOOD WATCHING EVERYONE ELSE.. WITH HERE LONG PAINTED NAILS AND BRAIDS. AND ATTITUDE.SO BEFORE I GET FARTHER ALONG..LET ME ASK YOU FELLOW TRAVELERS..WHAT PART OF 60'S RETRO IN SELF CHECK IN?? YOU ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO SWIPE AND ACTIVATE YOUR OWN ROOM KEYS..I REALIZE THIS IS LONG..BUT CONSIDERING THE TIME AND MONIES PUT TO GETTING THIS PROJECT/HOTEL UP AND RUNNING.. WHOMEVER WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIRING DROPPED THE BALL ON THE END ZONE.OUR ROOM WAS TINY.NO CLOSET...ONE ROLL OF TOILET PAPER FOR THREE PAYING CUSTOMERS.. NO TEA.COFFEE MACHINE IN THE ROOMS BUT LOTS OF EXPENSIVE CANDY AND SODA..MOST OF WHICH BRANDS REPRESENTED WERE NOT AROUND IN THE 60'S. IN THE MORNING..WE RAISED OUR ROOMS BLINDS TO SEE .NOPE THE THE RUNWAY VIEW WE PAID FOR BUT TERMINAL 5 AND THE JET BLUE SIGN..MY BOYFRIEND WENT DOWN TO THE DESK TO COMPLAIN.. NOW THOSE OF YOU WHO LIKE A EARLY MORNING CUP OF COFFEE WILL HAVE TO TROT DOWN TO TERMINAL 7.CAUSE TWA DOESN'T HAVE COFFEE READY UNTIL 6:30..CREDIT CARD ONLY .NO CASH.. HE ALSO ASKED ABOUT TAXI SERVICE.. JUST GUESS WHAT THE DESK TOLD HIM?? OH YES..THEY ONLY DEAL WITH UBER OR LYFT..AGAIN IF YOU ARE GENUINELY GOING RETRO.. THESE COMPANIES WERE NOT AROUND IN THE 60"S. SO AFTER GOING DOWN TO TERMINAL 7 FOR OUR BREAKFAST ..THE SECURITY STAFF DOWN THERE KINDLY TOLD US THERE WAS A YELLOW TAXI CAB STAND ACROSS THE STREET. SO YOU MAY STILL WANT TO CHECK OUT THE TWA ..FINE.JUST BE PREPARED. .WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK.. THE Y DEFINITELY NEED TO RETRAIN THOSE EMPLOYEES FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE..
That is beautiful very cozy super fantastico i love this place somenthing magi ..
It pains me to write this, but the soft open of the hotel definitely should have been postponed until it was ready. Full marks for the architecture, and the memories of a great airline -- and the amazing treat of getting to sit on board a Connie and have a cocktail. But they can't just depend on a great building and serve up a terrible customer experience. The whole terminal is actually...dirty...it's a little distressing. A simple power wash would do wonders. There were holes in the bathroom walls (see pic) and the trash cans in the terminal area were, um, cardboard boxes. (pic) There is no attention to detail here -- look at the stairs in the pic. A paint job that would have taken a day would have vastly improved the experience of walking onto a Connie. The plane itself is in great shape, and it's wonderful. We ordered food on the Connie, but we finished our drinks and still no food, so we canceled that order and decided to go to the Sunken Lounge. We didn't have a reservation, so we had to wait, which was fine. When we did get seated, the service was just dreadful, again, and the "cheese plate" when it arrived, had three pieces of cheese. For $20. I had to tackle passing waiters to get 1) water (three waiters) 2) silverware/napkins (two waiters) and the check (only one waiter but 20 minutes.) If you're wanting to go check this out, just go look at the Connie, and wait till later this year to actually eat there or stay at the hotel. I'm planning to go back in September or October at hopefully I can update this review at that time.
By far the sexiest airport hotel I have ever seen. Infinity rooftop pool, vintage sunken lounge, Stanley Kubrick style hallways and an all around vintage 1960 s feel.
The TWA hotel is awesome, straight out of 1965 it had a character that is charming and nostalgic. The food is good and the drinks are great. the rooms are also quaint. I've stayed here for two nights and once just chilled in their sunken lounge for 4 hours or so waiting on a flight. It's always a delight.
Must do for any lover of the golden age of air travel
They really thought of every detail - pretty amazing. Definitely have a drink in the Connie - a distinctive and fun experience.
Thanks for the great experience. After a cancelled flight in the middle of the night, the staff was extremely helpful to get us set up for the night. Superb service! Plus some very comfortable beds and beautiful rooms. Can highly recommend :)
Such a wonderful surprise, especially when we missed our connection. So nice not to have to leave airport just to have to come back the next morning.
Clean, wonderful atmosphere, blast from the past.
Very cool, 60's retro hotel with the old TWA vibe. The cafe serves great cheese burgers.
Excellent! Great atmosphere, great service! Addy at the bar in the interior lounge is great! Not to mention... the rooms are phenomenal!
Back in time experience, kind, beautifully dressed stewardess, pilot. Good food.
Great theme Hotel and convenient for travelers and tourists
The food was terrible and overpriced. The service, vibe and view also get one star. Beware of the website advertising free 4 hour self parking for customers dining at the restaurant, the valets and hotel staff will tell you this is true until you are leaving and try to get your parking validated
Beautiful restored building. Roof top pool. You got few bars, one is a an actual plane turned in to a bar. They have valet parking as well.
It was ok.
They don't accept cash need card payment
The only hotel on the airport premises. You can walk from Terminal 5 of the airtrain following the signs for TWA Hotel.
You can check in yourself at the kiosk terminal, but if you don't know it, you can ask nearby staff.
The room is based on the concept of the 1960s and is decorated with a vintage feel, but the price of the minibar is a bit jerky if you look online.
There is a heated pool on the roof and you can swim in winter. From here you can take a look at the runway. Guests are free, but visitors pay.
The restaurant is similar in price to the restaurant in the airport, but the number of menu items is small.
Because the cost of accommodation is high compared to hotels around the airport, so if you only use it in transit, the cospa is bad, so it's for people who enjoy accommodation.
Very nice hotel. A little bit pricey but worth it. It has a lot oh history and a lot to see. Definitely worth to pay the extra for the runway view. I don t think they have room service to order food.
Unfortunately I have to give a bad review for the experience I had. I paid higher rate price for a room with a view, excited to relax for few hours to end up having a room in the basement with literally no view. The management is the worst , very arrogant and low quality customer service. It s 2020 customer service is top priority for any business to maintain their clientele
Very very very cool hotel, the hotel is super modern but also has these retro looks to it, they also have an old plane in the back with a bat in it. Loved this hotel!
Stayed 6/7 and 6/8. This hotel really is needs a major chain to run things. It lacks basic services that you d expect in a hotel costing over $300 a night. For example there is no concierge and the staff lacked training. They didn t even know options to get into Manhattan. The room wasn t fully painted and they dangled all kinds of goodies that you d be charged for. Not even a bottle of water was complimentary. There was a general feeling that it was rushed to open. And the eating options were ludicrous. One restaurant that had seating so limited it could accommodate maybe 6 tables. I m guessing they can t hire staff cuz it s too far out. I d give it a one star but the bed was great.
After visiting it, this place was fantastic. Sorry that they didnt give me a refund right away when the reservation got messed up , so I didn't stay, but it's well worth every minute to see this beautiful piece of architecture. There are period dressed stewardesses and pilots that really give the deal youre in a time warp.
I didnt find anyone rude at all. Believe me I would have complained if I did. Its a stellar experience. Leave a few hours to explore. This place is all about space.
This place is like no other airport hotel. Just love how the designer's incorporated old with new
Love this themed airport hotel. Check in and check out was easy. The room was very nice and clean. Food quality and choices were pretty poor.
Bar snacks only after 10pm. Arrived after a missed international flight, 20+ hours of travel and was handed a local Chinese restaurant menu when I asked about food. Also around 530 the next morning we have one of the scares of our lives as our room door loudly closes with both of us in the bed! The doors don t close automatically so they have security go by and close everyone s doors at 5am. Just an incredibly poorly run hotel. Thankfully the building is incredible as it will be here much much longer than the current operators
Amazing hotel, friendly & helpful staff, great drinks, good eats, beautiful room and I highly recommend the trip.
Didn't stay, but stopped by on a layover. This place was super cool! Really got a lot of details right, from the architecture to the staff uniforms to the posters on the wall. Next time I overnight at JFK I will absolutely be starting here. Really had a lot of fun
Great hotel. Would have been a perfect hotel in they had a shop to buy toiletries, a lot of guests were with because of flight cancellations
Ultra expensive not worth it ever they take advantage of desperate travelers in a need of a place to stay
The history of this beautiful building! The displays are great! Thank goodness it was preserved!!
Amazing the TWA terminal turned into a world class hotel. Don't miss "Connie" (one of the last of the prop plans) parked outside the hotel. It is now a cocktail lounge. As a former TWA employee my stay here was like coming home.
It's great the original 1960's era TWA terminal has been re-purposed as a hotel. This iconic Saarinen designed building sat vacant for years and was also used briefly by JetBlue. Mid-century in style throughout with classic Knoll manufactured furnishings throughout. Rooms and pool overlook taxiways reminiscent of hotel rooms in sports stadiums that overlook the playing field so you never miss the action. A vintage Constellation aircraft retrofitted as the Connie lounge is available for relaxing. Timeless in design, it's worth a walkthrough if time permits or book a stay while waiting during a long layover at JFK, it's your own private lounge at a reasonable price $149., just like lounges enjoyed by the glitterati.
Disappointed. People were amazing and you can see the construction was going on which is fine. I had a web conference so needed the highly advertised high speed internet. It was high but very unstable and unreliable. Got disconnected 14 times and Verizon wireless has almost no signal so dont count on their hotspot. Reservations showed me wrong days in confirmation 4 times which was annoying. Room was clean and organized nicely. Check in was easy. Staff was great (Siara)
An absolutely unique hotel; the moment you walk in you feel as though you have walked into a portal to the past. The room was very clean with the 60s theme continuing throughout. It is definitely worth staying at and it is walking distance from the air tram which makes is sooo convenient.
A lifesaver when you're suddenly stranded at JFK! So convenient being located in Terminal 5. The staff is accommodating and friendly. Well appointed rooms with a pack-and-play provided for our baby.
Great nostalgia. Excellent service. Infinity pool and bar on top to watch planes come and go. Fine rooms and beds for 5 star comfort! We will go back when traveling to NY.
This hotel has the potential to offer a magical experience. The Lobby space is amazing and the rooms are excellent. I encourage management to focus on hiring qualified people in all positions and to maintain constant ficus on the customer experience. Great job so far! Looking forward to the roof deck and pool opening soon.
We were there for an Open House New York event, not an overnight, but we had food (delicious!) and wine (great list!), and walked all over the place. It's beautiful, and you feel like a movie star just sitting in the sunken lounge or eating at the restaurant. I can't wait to spend the night!
Beautiful experience walking by and seeing the scenery of the place as it was back in the past. It's a lovely spot with some shops and food vendors. Nice vehicles of the time when TWA was in it's prime are on display and the Constellation aircraft outside are a neat treat for aviation enthusiasts and history fans.
Incredible restoration job! Amenities good, but a little sparse. Still, worth seeing and staying there; staff excellent.
We had an issue and went to eat the bartender rapha ask was was wrong so we to him he immediately got a manager and got it fixed I'm trying pool tomorrow hope all will be as good
advantage:
1. Just at the airport, take the flight to New York at night. If you want to have a quick break, it is a great choice. Take the airport monorail to the fifth terminal, and then take a short walk.
2. The whole hotel is very design, very beautiful, very good! Check in is self-help and very interesting.
3. The room view is very good.
4. The bed and pillow are comfortable and sleep very well!
Disadvantages:
1. The room is very beautiful, but it is not very practical, the bathroom is designed to be difficult to bathe, the shower space is only half a door, it will spray wet outside.
2. There is no shower head, and the shower is super high. Asians should find it difficult to wash.
3. The hot water is not hot enough.
4. The refrigerator is full of inductive paid drinks, no space to put your own diet.
Beautiful. Tonight they were celebrating the grand opening. People were dress to the 9's,food was good , drinks free and older candy brands. Hotel looked wonderful and the staff was great. Located on JFK airport.
,
This hotel has phenomenal architecture and the roof pool is surreal. The rooms are well laid out. The downsides however are no coffee making facilities in the room and you have to drag your suitcase up steps to get to the lift. The hotel does not cater well for guests. Coffee is $7 and breakfast was too expensive for us. One night is ok for the view and experience but we wouldn't stay again.
This place is so different and unique I love it We had the runway room you can see the planes take off and come in very pretty at night
Absolutely amazing place--the refurbish job was SO well done. The hotel part is quirky. Room was all bed, very little other space. Lovely cocktail set up but no ice anywhere. The view of the runway cannot be beat--highly recommend. And very quiet. No personnel, no way to call the front desk, no helpful "let us tell you about our hotel" book or pamphlet or anything. AC didn't cool very well--room was noticeably more humid and warmer than the public spaces. All things considered--especially the convenience--we will probably be back.
Decent hotel has the old school feel and how the planes to use to look back in the days. Unfortunately the price of the rooms is a little too much but not a bad place to visit.
A great place to stay when flying out of jfk. Very unique, styled to the architect's design. Fun to walk around. Good food options, but expensive! Rooms are very roomy and comfortable and you don't know you are at an airport, very quiet!!!!
If you have a long layover at JFK head to terminal 5, either grab a room if it's overnight. If not explore the first terminal, I'd share pictures but it's just best if you experience the dope designs in person.
Fun! While you're waiting for your flight, take a moment to check this out!
Cute retro hotel that was an old airport terminal. Rooms are on the small side. Expansive windows. Rotary phones that work! LED lit in room bar space with martini glasses. Ample parking. It s a hidden gem. There is a pool.
