It pains me to write this, but the soft open of the hotel definitely should have been postponed until it was ready. Full marks for the architecture, and the memories of a great airline -- and the amazing treat of getting to sit on board a Connie and have a cocktail. But they can't just depend on a great building and serve up a terrible customer experience. The whole terminal is actually...dirty...it's a little distressing. A simple power wash would do wonders. There were holes in the bathroom walls (see pic) and the trash cans in the terminal area were, um, cardboard boxes. (pic) There is no attention to detail here -- look at the stairs in the pic. A paint job that would have taken a day would have vastly improved the experience of walking onto a Connie. The plane itself is in great shape, and it's wonderful. We ordered food on the Connie, but we finished our drinks and still no food, so we canceled that order and decided to go to the Sunken Lounge. We didn't have a reservation, so we had to wait, which was fine. When we did get seated, the service was just dreadful, again, and the "cheese plate" when it arrived, had three pieces of cheese. For $20. I had to tackle passing waiters to get 1) water (three waiters) 2) silverware/napkins (two waiters) and the check (only one waiter but 20 minutes.) If you're wanting to go check this out, just go look at the Connie, and wait till later this year to actually eat there or stay at the hotel. I'm planning to go back in September or October at hopefully I can update this review at that time.
