This is my third Toyota purchased at Santa Monica. I want to thank Mark for helping with me in getting 2019 Corolla SE. Thank you for the finance streamline process and for the price deal guaranteed. Always looking forward to the next opportunity to drive a new Toyota off your lot.

I would review with negative stars if that were possible.
I originally wrote the review below on 09/22/2020, still no resolve, still being ignored, and still being passed around.

I purchased a vehicle from this location in June 2020.

When purchasing the vehicle, I decided to purchase the warranty mainly because it had a 30 day 100% money back guarantee. Close to three weeks after purchasing the vehicle, I decided that the warranty was not needed and went into their location to sign the warranty cancellation. Kevin told me that it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to "max" a month for the return to go through.

1 month, 2 months, and now 3 months go by. I've left 10 messages, close to a total of 30+ calls, and I still do not see the warranty being refunded. AND BY THE WAY.. the dealership never even informed Lexus/ Toyota financials that $3,000 of the total sales amount was for the warranty (I found this out about a couple weeks after signing the warranty cancellation). I pretty much tried to escalate the issue to the financial side, but they said because the dealership never input the warranty, there was nothing they can do to assist with canceling it. I brought this up to the dealership multiple times over the past couple months, at one point I was even told "don't worry another 2 weeks and this should be done" ... it's now 2 and a half months since they've said that.
Side note: I had an opportunity to sell the vehicle at over $2K profit, but because the payoff amount still reflected the total sales with the warranty included, I had no other choice but to postpone selling the vehicle until the balance reflected the correct amount. ( I was going to sell to caravana and If you have a balance owed above their offer, they require a cashiers check) this would not be a big deal, but the warranty would deduct 3K from my total payoff amount. I've lost my opportunity to sell this vehicle for a profit.

This review is to give you an idea of the service you should be expecting. I mean, if you go in there and get your self a fully loaded Supra you might get an extra month of special service!... if you want to get a quick lease, In and out and you don't care for building up a relationship to maybe comeback after that said lease, this is the perfect place.

I buy 2-3 cars a year and flip them to locals or to people that are new to Los Angeles. At first, I must say, I was really feeling this locations team and was sure I was going to return, But I can say now.. I won't be returning nor will I refer people to this location.

This place is absolutely terrible. Went to buy a 2021 Toyota Supra. Did not ask for a single dollar of a discount. Bought the car. Said there was one blemish that needed to be corrected on the passenger door trim. Looked like it was cut with a razor blade. I have waited nearly 4 months now. The sales person Alex and his manager kept forgetting about it. No follow up. I had to keep reaching out. Come 3 months later I get a call to go in, and it s the wrong part that s ordered. Now it is on back order and it s another who knows how long before a brand new car is the way it should be. I work in the car business and have never seen this bad of a breakdown or follow up or just attention to detail. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Not if you re looking for people that care or will follow up.

I get my service done through Eddie Sandoval, and he is always very nice and approachable. You can even text or call him directly to set up service appointments which is a nice option. This past visit, my car got a 10,000-mile service along with a look at a problem with the front passenger speaker. I was there six hours, but they claimed that they couldn't recreate the problem that I was describing. I waited in the dealership the entire time, so I just wish that they would have come out to me and asked me to take the car for a drive in order to show them what I'm talking about. As soon as I got on the highway on my way home after the whole ordeal, the speaker cut out. It just frustrates me that now I'm going to have to go back and probably wait another six hours while they try and fix it again. No working individual has that kind of time, unless you get shuttled into work while they are working on it (which isn't an option if you aren't close to it). On a good note, I do travel from downtown LA to this particular dealership because I like them so much. I believe that this past visit was an exception and not the usual. Plus, you're close to the beach and the 3rd St. Promenade, so you have ways to waste away the hours that your waiting for your car. Despite the long wait, I'll still be getting all of my service done at this dealership through Eddie for sure.

EDIT 6 months later: Again, Eddie Sandoval is just a great service rep. I feel like he really has my best interests in mind considering we were talking about benefits of extending my care package now versus waiting until my lease ends to get a new care package. For routine service, I was in and out in a couple hours, and Eddie even recommended a good place to grab breakfast while I wait. Thanks again!

I wish I could give them 10 stars These people are super nice and professional they spend lots of time for you to make sure you are comfortable with your deal! no hidden fees or lies over at there. I bought 4 Toyota's from them and I always walked out with a great deal from there! The Manager John is super nice as well as the Sales person Dan they will get you the best deal ! I originally thought the world of this dealership, until I approached the dealership manager about the horrendous, hapless and degradingly abusive, insurance company, owned and operated by the owner's family, which they referred me to. I was interrupted, mid-sentence, and yelled at, like an animal, in the most dehumanizing fashion, by this insane and childish individual.

Then, I discovered a major body defect, present when I leased the car, that I had mistakenly assumed was the styling. The quarter panel is flanged out, on the driver's side, from the door, and the inside of the former is the same malformed way. The car was either in an accident and misrepresented and overvalued, along with my lease payments and payments to my insurer, or mis-made, with the same results, as far as having a defective car, and inflated, associated costs. I shudder at the thought of trying to get some satisfaction out of these people, as the owner, Mr. LA Car Guy himself, Sean Sullivan, is the most unaccountable and uncontactable person involved with this place. His secretary is also obnoxious, domineering, interfering and dismissive. While the service managers are the best. and Pedro Cuzul, my salesperson, Julie Warr, in finance, and the rest, made extraordinarily accommodating and time consuming efforts, to make my lease most workable and beneficial, the administration of this place is a nightmare. The idea that the dealership manager can make a video, where he lies through his teeth about satisfying customers, makes me want to vomit. My advice is to stay away from the dealership, altogether...

I had a very good experience recently when I took my Scion FRS to be serviced at Toyota Santa Monica. I always call Sheri Atkins directly to set up the appointment. She is pleasant, helpful and accessible. Sheri always gets me in and out quickly, and she made sure I got a car wash when the service was done. Also, I liked the new coffee machine in the waiting room, not to mention the muffins that appeared just when I was getting hungry for a bite of breakfast!
Thanks again to Sheri and Santa Monica Toyota. This is my first Toyota, and I'm very pleased with the car and the service.

I purchased a 2017 Toyota Mirai from Edwin Fuentes and my experience was superb. Edwin explained everything to me and made it easy to understand the Mirai and understand the benefits. I had my two children with me and he had enough patience to explain things numerous times as my children were screaming because they wanted a pen, paper, food, and drinks. At the end of the transaction, he even drove me to the local fuel cell station and demonstrated to me how to fill the Mirai. Overall Edwin is a stud! A+++

My Camry had 45,000 miles on it (2007 XLEV6). It had a whole body shudder when hitting 40. Karl, the service manager, had it checked and they said it was the Torque Converter. Expensive. Karl gave me a little bit of a break on labor (10%). Left it Friday (early at 7 AM) and was promised before end of day Friday (5 PM). Passed by 4:30 and they said the shudder was still not completely gone even after replacing the Torque converter. Karl is not easy to contact via phone (I always got voicemail) or e-mail (never got a response). I know he is busy. Good thing is that the dealer is just a 10 minute walk from where I work. I was given a rental car (Prius) to use over the weekend. Karl said I would only have to pay for gas. When I returned it on Monday, the front desk asked me whether the payment for the rental car was going to be on my credit card on file and I said Karl told me I would just have to fill it up with gas. So hopefully they didn't charge me for it.

Bottom line: They replaced the Torque Converter, 9 quarts of ATF (they charged me the full MSRP for each part) and replaced the two axles (front) with reman axles (they charged $86 per and didn't charge me for labor), 4 quarts of brake cleaner (really? To clean the parts that they messy'd?). When I picked up the car and test drove it, I heard the engine from what seemed to be an open door. I brought it back, had the lead mechanic drive with me and was about to leave it again then he promptly bent down to the steering wheel and mentioned they forgot to close/return the steering wheel boot. Also, the car smelled of either old oil or someone slept in it overnight. It took about a week and a half to remove the smell. My side carpet also had oil stains.

I am quite disappointed in Toyota, as a company, since I really baby this XLE V6 top of the line Camry that has had two major issues (I had to pay out of pocket for a bearing/hub issue that was a known issue as well as this Torque Converter that was also a known issue) because although my car is very low in mileage, it is over 7 years old.

As a dealer, Toyota of Santa Monica is OK. They are just so busy that small details such as what I described are overlooked.

I also had 2 great shuttle rides with a younger gentleman (so sorry I didn't get your name), but he was so friendly and on time with both my drop off and pick up. The prices tend to be dealership standard, which is higher than most alternative service shops, but their customer service is pretty great. Erica Simons helped me during this last visit and was quick to address the issues I had. She was very straightforward, which I always appreciate in car repairs.

Update: Went back in last Friday for 10K service and this time Joseph Hernandez helped me out. I stayed to wait for my car and it took around an hour just like he said it would. Will continue bringing my car to Toyota Santa Monica.

I took my car in for the $5K servicing and the process was very quick. Reyes Perez was very friendly and answered all of my questions. I dropped my car off a little before 9am and got a call saying it was ready within an hour. I will definitely go back to this dealership for servicing of my RAV4.

Toyota Santa Monica is a good place to buy a car. The dealership had great offers for the memorial day weekend. They were so good I didn't have to negotiate, the offers match the TTC value estimates. I even got an additional discount for being a recent college graduate. It was a no-pressure experience where I can talk for a while about all of the deal specifics before agreeing to anything.

I went through the internet sales to get my car (2014 Prius C) which included looking at different packages at different lots that they drove me to. I felt comfortable talking to the sales people and the staff was very courteous.

If I had any complaints then it was that the paperwork took a while to setup and sign once I had decided to get the car that I wanted. This is usually the case at any dealership. In my situation I didn't have an estimate as to how long I should expect to wait. It was 2 hours to test drive and go over the offer then agree to sign and another 4 hours to finish the remaining paperwork. I felt the last part should be a faster. That had more to do with the finance department than the sales but is certainly could be improved upon.

To sum it up this dealership is one of the first places to look for a new car if for no other reason than to get a baseline experience for service and deals.

I had a wonderful experience working with Chris Weller to purchase my new Prius! I went after work on a Thursday evening to test drive the car and found Chris to be informative and helpful and not sales-y which I appreciated. I promised I would come back that Saturday with my husband and made an appointment with Chris. We stayed in touch via text and he was very responsive leading up until the weekend. We spent hours debating options and decisions and Chris was helpful in lining up the cars for us and showing us everything we wanted to see. What I most liked about him is that he gave us space to deliberate and discuss and did not try to oversell the vehicle to us which I find incredibly annoying. In the end, he gave us a monster deal on the car I wanted and we drove off the lot with our new car satisfied customers. Can't say enough about the experience which we all know can be a long, gruesome tiring process. Thank you Chris!

I had an excellent experience with Trung and the rest of the team at Toyota Santa Monica. They had the best price to offer on a new Prius, and from the moment we arrived we were treated with consideration and respect. Trung was terrific - he gave us tons of useful information about the features of the Prius. As it was our first time buying a car, he was especially helpful and patient guiding us through the process. There was even a bbq on July 4 that we happened to be able to catch! Great experience, will be back again in the future.

Sam and Chris in their Service Dept. REALLY understand what service means! Came in for an unexpected repair issue due to some road debris. Not only did they have the part in stock, they go me right in, in the late afternoon, to have it fixed immediately. Girls didn't have to miss a soccer practice :-) Customers can only HOPE that they'll be taken care of by Retailers (especially car dealerships) the way Toyota of Santa Monica takes care of theirs! Love the location because the beach is nearby to walk around while your car is being serviced. I turned in my car and actually got it serviced sooner than I was told so that was a plus. But the car wash that they do is mediocre. It felt like they just hosed it down with water. Maybe its not what they're supposed to do but i asked before going if they washed the car after the required maintenance and they said yes. Well, they don't.

Overall, we felt really nickel and dimed by this dealership. After purchasing a new car here, they removed some of the extras (trunk shade, rubber mat, etc.) from the vehicle before we took it home. We did in fact pay for some of them when we bought the car, but they initially refused to return them. It was a hassle and really degraded our experience. We won't buy from them again.

My experience was

This one of the worst experiences that I have ever had buying a car.

Even though I had a pre approved loan from another bank, Elvis Gabri(The Manager) lured me with a lower interest rate and he ended up running my credit score from 3 different banks making me look bad about getting rejected by one of the banks.

Then when I asked him about why the monthly payments were so high, they realized that they requested the loan for a $5000 more than the agreed price.When I pointed the mistake, they immediately lowered the cost by $3000, which was still $2000 more than the discussed amount.



Overall the experience of listening to lies made me feel jaded, helpless and to loose trust in people s word. Hope you don t fall trap of these people and ask the right numbers before they pull your credit.

Everything went very smoothly -- From tagging the car that I was looking for, to scheduling the appointment, to the paperwork and delivery the day of. Lease paperwork has a lot of terms and agreements but they made it as efficient as possible by having me fill out a credit app before I came in and having all the paperwork ready to go the day of. If Santa Monica runs their service center as well as this, I'll be a loyal customer!

Lina Martin helped me lease this car. I appreciated her personable approach with me. She was genuine and low key. She listened to my questions and concerns. I didn't feel pressured which helped enormously in my making a clear headed decision for what I was looking for in a car. Shopping for a car is not an easy process for most of us. A Dealership depends on it's personnel for ratings. As a result I highly recommend Toyota of SM because of the sales representative, Trung Tran, that I met and who assisted me through the process of buying a pre-owned certified car. He was extremely cordial, knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions. His easy demeanor and pleasantness lent itself toward closing on the sale.

SHADY! From salesman to finance. Beware of Service Contract and GAP protection hidden in contract. They will negotiate with a monthly price to divert your attention from the extras tacked on. When caught they heavily try more diversions and pressure to keep you signing. Ultimately when I declined the extras all together they would not honor the sell price because they aren t making enough profit. I literally walked out of finance after 3 hours of time, to not be sold a car at the negotiated and advertised price. I ve purchased from three other Toyota dealerships and never experienced this level of games and outright concerted manipulation. Shame on this place - it s clearly dealership policy to take advantage of their customers.

Got to work with the amazing Tony Doyle at this location. Do yourself a favor and just ask to work with him the next time you need to buy or lease a car. He made the process fun and relaxing. He is very personable and wants to help in any way possible. This Toyota dealership works for the customer and not for themselves. While purchasing a new car is never at the top of anyone's list...you can rest assured that your experience will at least be easy going.

We went to CarMax after a year to get the car appraised to find that the was a minute accident on the car. The price they appraised dropped a lot due to this accident! We were interested in the 2012 Toyota Sienna SE. I called a day before we drove down from the Central Coast to test drive the vehicle to confirm it was the color/model/condition as advertised. We arrived and were warmly greeted with a prompt test drive. Tony Doyle from Sales made us comfortable and answered all of our questions along with excellent assistance with the Dealer Shop to program keys/remotes. We were offered many extras in the sales process and accepted the stain resistant coating along with the Extended Warranty coverage. I must say that Tony and others were professional/courteous and had the Sienna detailed and seats installed by the time we came back through town the next day on our way home. I would rate this dealership and the customer oriented folks at Santa Monica Dealership more than 5 stars if I could! We have had the Sienna for a week now and are 100% satisfied with the purchase.
