It's a fun, free attraction to explore. A bit of history within so much creativity. All of the artists have their studio right there, go in and bother them! There's many beautiful pieces to see. The views of the river above are beautiful too!

Very cool place to just see a bunch of different styles of art including crafts, paintings, sculptures, etc. The prices may be a bit on the higher side, but are generally deserving for the quality they are made with.

An excellent opportunity and walk to visit Alexandria, DC neighbor start from the subway station and train (There is the George Washington Masonic temple very close) following by King St. to the port, you can walk its streets and shops until arriving at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, an old torpedo factory in the United States that today was turned into an art center that houses a lot of artists who exhibit, teach and sell. From painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers and countless artists. An excellent walk and also think about being able to acquire some work, because it is well worth it.
They are three floors, the facilities are maintained and clean, they have toilets in good condition.
And conclude with the visit, taking or eating something in the restaurants of the port.
Do not lose it !!!! Highly recommended

Was once a real torpedo factory that even has one on display. Now it's a great art center for vendors on the beautiful water front at the end of street that has so much to do in Alexandria. I believe it's King Street.

Very cool place to spend a couple of hours in Old town. Especially if you re an art enthusiast. You can also take a water taxi across the river to National Harbor, get off and come back on with a round trip ticket.

The spark of creativity is lit there for all to see and share. There is a great deal of direct interaction between working artists and the general public. Saturday is the day to really see a beehive of activity.

This place helps cultivate the community. It is a necessity for a city to thrive and not become the cog churning machine it wants to be. Life will prevail because of places like the torpedo factory

If you are visiting old Town Alexandria (especially summer months)and need place to cool off from all sightseeing this place may be it if you enjoy arts. Soak in enormous artistic talents of local artists and many medias..this place has it all. It's quite unique and views from art studios are better then one from crowded harbour deck below it's building.
It's free to enter.
Amazing gift to take home with you.

The Torpedo Factory is such a huge part of Alexandria's history that you just have to stop in to see it. Yes you will see a torpedo inside too! It is totally free to come in and the best part is they have a plenty of public bathrooms! The building opens up on the waterside and also street side so it can handle the heavy tourist traffic. There are 3 floors of galleries and working art studios here so you'll def find something that interests you even if you don't decide to purchase anything. They also got historical rooms with artifacts and readings about the area if you're into that sort of thing.

Nice concept, but poor execution. This is a wonderful space, but lacks a clear "welcoming" feel when you enter. If you are unlucky enough to wander first into a studio with an artist engrossed in the creative process, who replies with monosyllabic grunts of annoyance for being distracted, you might wheel around and walk out.

Preference for most trafficked locales should be given to the most welcoming establishments (e.g. The Lyceum: Alexandria's History Museum, which is tucked in a corner on the top floor). Also, the administrative office is on the top floor. Suggest moving it to the ground floor and training docents to greet visitors.

Good

I went to visit as my Grandfather worked in the building during WW2. Good exhibit on history of factory. Good exhibit on local archaeology. Many of the artists were not on site. Nice place to visit on the waterfront.
