Wonderful nature all around. However, the best way to put it: "They sell Toyota Yaris, but charge like for Porsche". 500 bucks for very mediocre room it's a joke. 28 bucks for Whistle Pig where Micheal on the Hill - fine French superb dining charge 16 bucks. The list goes on.

Amazing, we spent the 2 nights during the memorial day weekend, and didn't want to leave the hotel. Beautifully designed, the indoor and outdoor pools are very welcoming, great food at the restaurants and the most friendly and welcoming team you can find. We will surely return.
Went for dinner and drinks. Food was great, but service was a little slow the night we were there. Although, we were a party of 12 and the restaurant was busy that night.
Went for Easter brunch. It was a little expensive but the food was good and the view of Stowe was nice. Most servers were great but one was legitimately annoying.
This was a nice quiet Resort Small but nice modern lobby Friendly guest agent and waiter in the bar. Room was clean and had everything we needed They need a vending or Mart area for soda and snacks Pools and sauna areas very nice. I would stay again if we travel back to Stowe.
Everything is "top notch" from the second I checked in until the moment I left Everything was top notch. Hospitality +++ all to way down to a request for a bottle of water, I couldn't believe the service. I am officially a brand ambassador after a 3 night stay.
I have been going here for years and it is incredible. Kristen is absolutely amazing and does THE BEST manicure / pedicures! Wonderful staff and facilities. Highly recommended.
Top notch has an awesome friendly staff that always makes us feel welcome and comfortable. They have two restaurants one more formal "flannel" and a higher end feel pub called "the roost". Food is great at both. There's slay rides, tennis, gorgeous 3 pools ones (one is closed in the winter), underground gorgeous spa facilities. Really like having a small vacation every time we go there as we live locally and like to sneak away for a day or two. Would highly recommend!
A big group of us went to Roost for lunch, they were very accommodating and the food was great. I recommend getting a bunch of small plates and nibbling for a while.
Extremely nice and clean. Conference area was great too. Wish they turned on the heat a little sooner but once it was up the whole afternoon and evening was very comfortable and the staff was very professional and friendly
Clean and very spacious location. The spa is phenomenal and i want to call out Kaitlyn for an amazing deep tissue massage. The only down was limoted parking in front of the spa
We went to the spa and it was just wonderful! Exactly what we needed after day two on the mountain, with worked legs, knees, backs...you know, how you know you're not a teenager any more. Mary at the front desk was awesome. Thanks Mary!!
Nice room, good meal and excellent hospitality. My only downside, the dining room ... not very romantic to eat on the edge of an alley in bright light. Reserve a table on the edge of the window!
We stayed at the Topnotch for a romantic weekend in May. The spa is really amazing! Great indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzis with a fantastic view of the mountains! The food in the restaurant was good, especially the pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast! Our only complaint is that the rooms are a bit outdated and not as modern as the rest of resort.
Very dog friendly. Had a 3 hour drive the little guy was out of sorts. Dropped him in the room went to the bar. Got a call the dog was in destress. Went back calmed him down staff spoiled him with treats. All is good very pleased.
This review is for Roost, one of the restaurants at Top Notch (the one off the main entrance).
Simply put, I would not go back. All aspects of the meal were sub-par and we were especially disappointed since this was Top Notch Resort. The staff did apologize for our remarks but blaming the issues on "we are busy" is a terrible excuse for a 5-star resort who should know how busy they will be on a holiday weekend. I fear management is more of an issue than how busy it was.
Service: It was not great. The host miscalculated the wait time by double and seated other people prior. The waitress was rarely found and left our drinks empty numerous times. It also took over an hour for our food to come out after we ordered it. As a side note, would it be so hard for our waitress to smile?!?!
Food: Some of our food was great, others not so much. We ordered two burgers medium-well....they came out medium-rare if that (only the outside was cooked complete, the inside was bright pink). I find it very hard to screw up a burger so badly.
Environment: Loud and uncontrolled kids ruled the night. I understand it is an "apres-ski place" and has a bar. But still, have people control their kids. Especially when they are walking around with smores spears! The place could also use some sound deadening so we could actually hear ourselves think.
Other: Get new knives. For lack of better words, they suck. I have no idea how they passed through management or testing. Who ever approved of them should be fired. They can't cut! They are totally useless!
My company had a Christmas party here. It was really nice - jazz band, great food, wine bar, hors d'oeuvres, nice decorations.
Oh, but then almost everyone who attended came down with stomach flu. Our office was empty the following week. Read up on how stomach flu is transmitted and then have fun visualizing it.
A great place to stay in Stowe, Vermont. Staff is super friendly. The main Lodge has indoor and outdoor swimming, indoor tennis, shuttle service to practically anywhere reasonable.
The bar flannel looked like it was designed to be an upscale NY style bar, with a great cocktail list & local beers on tap. Biggest problem is that they allowed kids to roam freely throughout the bar and make it into more of a playroom than a nice bar. There s signs around the bar saying 21+ after 9pm , but we were there from 10-11pm and this was NOT enforced. Weird vibes all around.
The area is beautiful. Was there for a wedding. Food was just okay and not plentiful. Everyone seemed very nice and the area again, made up for everything. Tucked away not close to anything else. So if that is what you looking for top notch you should look at
We came to Top Notch for our best friends wedding. It was a magnificent weekend, with the exception of the Roost restaurant & bar. We had the same bartender both nights of the wedding. His name is Troy. The first night we had the ceremony at a church and came back to the Roost for drinks. There was no music playing and Troy seemed cranky the whole night. We all tried to ignore it. The second night we had the reception downstairs and then drinks at the Roost, again, until 1am (as scheduled & contracted by the resort). We were all so bummed to see Troy bartending again, but we ignored it at the beginning. He started cutting people off, as expected, but for those of us taking it easy we were disappointed to hear he was closing the bar at 12:30am in the dot, no exceptions. He closed the whole bar, broke the resort contract, was rude all night, and should not be in a position of customer service.
I understand not wanting to serve other people. But leave that job for someone who gets some joy out of it. I work in customer service and cannot imagine treating customers, ESPECIALLY at an expensive resort, the way Troy treated every single wedding guest this weekend.
If anyone is considering having their wedding at this location, please reconsider. You can do much better anywhere else.
If you re having a very very low key wedding with minimal drinking and early nights in, then maybe this is for you.
I will personally not be returning for any services out of respect for the wedding party. They were so disrespected by Troy.
My spa experience was world-class at Topnotch. Best deep tissue massage I have had in years. The new spa director, Kathy, is a gem - so knowledgeable and accommodating. I highly recommend this experience.
COVID 19 getaway I had high expectations this hotel was highly recommended. It would of been a 5 star had it not been for the disappointment and mislead when calling ahead and speaking to someone in the spa. All the hot tubs, saunas, and most pools are closed! I was looking forward to a dip in the hot tub and pool. The main pool indoor was open, but it was a bit cold for my liking, outdoor smaller pool was open when it s 40 degrees it s warmed but still chilly. The rooms were spacious and the bed was very comfortable. For the most part it was a pleasant stay. I also loved that they were dog friendly, and pet fee is a flat rate. Maybe next year I will consider to revisit and all amenities listed on the website will be open.
Check in is only at 4 pm so make sure you plan around it! You can leave your luggage with the front desk if you arrive early.
There s an equipment rental shop nearby (5 min walk. Definitely cheaper than at the shops at the ski resort.) Free shuttle service to/from the mountain every hour or half an hour.
Restaurants at the resort are above par. Super friendly staff. Adorable place. Highly recommend!!!!
The name says it all! Top Notch. The staff goes above and beyond with every little detail. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great getaway.
A friend's family member owned one of the condos apart of this resort. We always had a great time. They have a waterfall hot tub. Sauna. Pool. Outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub. They even have their own bar/restaurant. It wasn't really packed so that was an advantage for comfort. But to that, if you're a people person- it wasn't really packed.
The pros: - The common areas are modern, spacious, clean and comfortable - The view from the outdoor pools and main dining room is spectacular - The staff is outstanding - The rooms are massive - The beds are very comfortable - The spa and pool facilities are lovely
The cons: - The pillows were extremely soft and uncomfortable - The bathroom didn't feel very luxurious -- some minor touch ups to the walls and bathtub would fix that easily. But the important thing is everything was VERY clean. - The wifi did not work in our room. It worked perfectly in the lobby though, and the staff was more than helpful with the issue. - There is a heated outdoor pool and hot tub with a sign that clearly says "Adults 18 and over." However, many parents brought their kids in with them, leading to a lot of splashing and yelling -- not ideal for couples looking for a quiet getaway. There were no employees around to keep an eye on the situation, so we had to ask a staff member to come deal with it, which she did, promptly. However, within 10 minutes, more kids were back in the pool, and we were put in the uncomfortable position of having to ask them to leave ourselves. Yet another 10 minutes later, some parents had brought their kids into the adults-only hot tub with them. I think the spa facilities would greatly benefit from some supervision to ensure the adults only spaces are respected, as this place shouldn't call itself Topnotch RESORT if it's not going to make some effort to enforce the divide between families and couples. Nothing against kids or families -- but when you're paying these kinds of rates and are looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, the area of the resort advertised as adults-only needs to be just that. - On the same topic, it seems the hotel,s pool and spa facilities are often used by locals. On the morning before my husband and I left, we were looking forward to a quiet, magical morning in the heated outdoor pool overlooking the mountainside. When we got there, the hot tub was sealed off for maintenance, and the pool was occupied by a seniors' aqua fitness class. Again, for the rates you pay to stay at this hotel, not to mention the additional resort fees, I would expect to have access to the pool facilities throughout my stay. - The rooms are not soundproof, and we were unfortunately subject to some noise from the street, hallway, and surrounding rooms. If you're sensitive to noise, consider wearing earplugs. We were woken up by our neighbours' TV at 7 a.m.
Overall, this hotel really is lovely and comfortable. I can only say good things about the competent, helpful, friendly staff. The hotel's popularity among families, however, means that on certain dates (like the long Canadian Thanksgiving/Columbus Day weekend on which we stayed there) couples might find it a little harder to enjoy the hotel's facilities. I think a really easy fix would be to ask employees to keep an eye on the adults-only pools and also the ladies' lounge to ask people who are conversing too loudly to keep it quiet. Couples who come to a hotel like this are looking for a quiet, relaxing, romantic experience. That was not entirely the case for us unfortunately, but I'd be more than willing to go back and give Topnotch another shot.
While I've had very positive experiences at the Topnotch spa previously, I'm pleased to say that on my first overnight stay I can too confirm that the rest of the resort is just as wonderful. Comfortable, well appointed rooms with nice linens and bath products. In an ideal world, the bathroom would be bigger with a stand alone shower rather than shower tub and the keurig coffee machine would transfrom into a nespresso, but that's just nit picking. Restaurants have nice atmosphere with good menu options that deliver on taste. The grounds offer plenty of options for activity or inactivity, depending on your mood. Service is friendly and helpful throughout! Lovely mountain views.
Perfect location in beautiful town. Hotel staff are all very generous and accommodating. Came during off-season and got a 5 star treatment the whole time.
What a great staycation! Great views of Mansfield, wonderful pools, loved the outdoor fireplace. Felt like we were in a tropical resort, but we were only thirty minutes from our home. Thank you for our getaway.
Topnotch is a special place. The helpfulness and esprit de corps of the staff is exceptional, and the beautiful views, spa, workout room, indoor and outdoor pool, and restaurants add up to a real Shangri-La for families.
Worst spa management experience of any spa- they treat clients horrible and If you want to pay for luxury and relaxation go to Stowe mountain Lodge! I had a 1:00 pedicure where they rushed me with no spa slippers because they were out to a 2:00 massage and my feet and nails were ruined, when I politely brought this up the service was horrible and then the spa director Alex came in and equally proceeded to argue and make passive aggressive solutions to a simple problem- give good customer service!
Top Notch Resort is outstanding. The staff are the friendliest, and really make you feel at home. The room was very clean and cozy. The view of the mountain and resort grounds outside the window was beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable and warm. The walls are a bit thin so it is possible to hear the room next door. This did not diminish the quality and comfort of the resort though. The indoor pool was the perfect temperature and very large, with lane for doing laps. The hot tub had a very nice waterfall, and was very spacious. There are two on-resort restaurants, The Roost and Flannel. Flannel offers a very delicious breakfast, with room service offered. I did not have the opportunity to try The Roost, but their menu appeared broad with many good dishes. Every aspect of the resort was outstanding and I would definitely stay again.
Very cozy and nice home with great furnishings, linens, and toiletries provided. Very nice restaurant with well-maintained pools (both inside and outside) around.
