The bread, which is made here, was fantastic. Portions were huge and tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. Wasn't busy at all, but we did go on a Tuesday morning.

Was supposed to get a table around 12:15, left at 12:45 and still had 10 tables in front of us.
Super tasty breakfast in a fun and quirky setting. Worth the inevitable wait. Delicious homemade breads and a very creative menu. Love this place.
You need to get the cheesy fries here. Eclectic atmosphere which could be described as "hipster"
Cozy, bustling place with great food and attentive waiters
After searching for 15 minutes in a rainy day we couldn't find it. They weren't picking up their phone either. Very disappointed.
Four Years Ago: 4 Stars; Scrambled eggs with toast and home fries was quite good, although the fries were too spicy (as the menu presaged). We later learned there is a less spicy option for the fries. French toast was nicely eggy and moist, with the welcome choice of real maple syrup (with a surcharge).
Today: So disappointed in a former breakfast-all-day favorite spot: our Mags Breakfast Burrito ($11)(scrambled eggs with inside home fries, American cheese, bacon, plus more home fries outside) was flavorless, under-salted, and leaden. The BLT Benny ($13) (English muffin, spinach, tomatoes, bacon, 2 poached eggs, hollandaise) was better but too heavy and partially under-heated. Jack's Abbey Smoke and Dagger beer was very good.
Menu and ownership changes over the years aside, this is still a go-to brunch joint in Cambridge. Bloody Mary can't be touched. Have been a fan for a very long time.
Amazingly good and quick service. Some of the best corned beef hash I've had in MA.
Many menu choices. Great food and friendly waitstaff. Long wait on weekends.
Loved their lemon curd pancakes. Eggs were all right. Good service.
Really good food but you should expect to wait a while
I wanted to love it, but the food genuinely wasn't that great. The vegan burger was fine, but then again it isn't made in house. The mac and cheese (both vegan and non-vegan varieties) was super watery and there was absolutely no cheese taste to be found. The only thing that looked genuinely enjoyable and well made was the plate of assorted breakfast foods.
The best breakfast food! Be sure to use the no wait app as the wait can be hours on the weekend
Love the brunch here! Great value for all the food!
Best breakfast I've ever had. I always love coming here; the selection of teas and breads are great! Cayenne Cheddar toast is the best in my opinion, although you can't go wrong with the King Cakes! Unfortunately, it isn't all good news, as anything but their breakfast offerings have been absolutely horrible. Their cheese fries claimed to have a "sprinkling of blue cheese", which I was hesitant about, but thought they knew what they were doing based on such amazing breakfast experiences. The fries came out absolutely smothered in blue cheese, which was so overbearing and I could barely manage to get any fries not covered in it. The chicken pot pie was equally terrible, I'm not sure what herb/spice was in it, but there was way too much of it (whatever it was) I could barely taste any of the vegetables or chicken. Had to send back.
TL;DR: Breakfast of champions, lunch/dinner is miserable.
A very popular diner in Kendall Square. This place gets packed during brunch and weekday lunches! It's a cool, kitschy place serving a variety of comfort food. All kinds of french toasts and pancakes and scrambles! The price is reasonable and the portions are quite big. I like their chocolate chip filled pumpkin pancakes, and they have a spicy cheddar toast that goes nicely with egg dishes. Decent coffee and a full bar makes this place popular with groups. Be prepared to wait if you come during peak times with friends, although if you're along you can probably snag a seat at the bar.
The Friendly Toast is great! Always something else to try new and honestly it's always delicious! I take all my friends who are visiting from out of town here. But be sure to get there and place your name on the list, this place is usually packed. The photo attached with a mimosa flight, bloody Mary flight, Benny, and a chicken covered in grits.... All highly recommend!
I have to wait 15 minutes.
That was really good.
Nice place to have breakfast/lunch. Variety of options present :) I love the burgers here.
This is one of my absolute favorite places in Boston! The food and drinks are soooo good, the menu is almost overwhelming, you simply have to make peace with the fact that you will have to return several times in order to get to try everything that appeals to you on the menu!!! It is hard for me to order anything besides the pumpkin pancakes (they taste exactly like pumpkin pie!!!) But I am so glad I branches out and had a custom, egg white omlette with veggies and salmon!!! Their burritos, fresh fruit oatmeal, bloody Mary's, mimosas, and Irish coffees are fantastic as well!! I'm not even a breakfast person, but if Friendly Toast is involved then I'm in!!
Great food,
They don't rush you out the door.
The Friendly Toast is nothing but good vibes and my go-to breakfast spot for the Boston area.
I recommend the breakfast egg rolls and the cheese fries, but everything is fantastic.
While I love the funky decor and positive attitude of the staff, this place gets all 5 stars because the food is simply perfect. The hardest part of visiting is pouring over their exquisite menu of offerings and trying to decide what to get -- you'll want it all. Every single thing I've ever ordered (breakfast and lunch) was one of the best things I've ever had. They do not skimp on the spices and sauces. Every time I visit the Cambridge area, I make sure I swing by for at least one meal.
One word of warning though, the place is so popular sometimes there's a long wait to seating. You can find them online and secure a good spot the the seating queue head of time -- make sure to do this during peak times (esp. breakfast!).
The food is tasty and the atmosphere is very fun and retro. Staff is friendly and you get quality service and food for decent prices. Definitely a good place to bring someone for breakfast, brunch, lunch etc.
Huge menu with vegan options and great service. I'll be back
Went Sunday for brunch luckily had a reservation as when we arrived we heard the wait was two hours without! Very noisy!! Food was really good. Home fries and cheese grits so good. My husband had an omelet filled w bacon and sausage he loved it, they cooked the meat crispy, my sis had French toast she also enjoyed. Really great food, service was aight. Front desk guy super friendly though. Coffee is weak and tasteless. Would go back to eat again for sure.
This place has amazing everything -- food, drive ks, service! Plus great nineties nostalgia in the soundtrack
Plan ahead cause this place gets crowded. Irish eggs benny a safe choice but also recommend the French toast with house made bread
Great brunch, but the normal wait time would drive me insane. Use the 'nowait' app. Still had a 45 minute wait, but could do that at home. Got there when it said to, waited maybe 5 minutes, and had a great brunch while feeling smug seeing everyone stand around.
Cute place with great food. Kind of expensive but worth it.
Such a cool place! The food was great (had breakfast) and particularly loved the flight of mimosas. Pricing is excellent for what you're getting. If you have a party of more than two, book in advance and bear in mind you will not be seated until the full party is present.
This place has some of the best nacho's I have ever had!! So many vegitarian options. The cocktails are off the hook too! Come here before a movie, you will love it.
The buttered biscuits with peppered gravy are to die for! Also, they have good coffee.
Great food. Waffle are the best. Can't wait to go back.
Great place for breakfast, and apparently also for drinks, although the second was not checked by me personally.
The best part about this restaurant is the kitschhy decor and crayons for all (even adults). The breakfast dishes were heavy, overloaded with cheese and salt. It isn't gourmet but is probably locals' hangover spot.
Really good food, great service, and a fun, relaxed vibe.
The food was delicious (as usual) but the inline-before-you-arrive (yelp waitlist) estimate was wrong by more than an hour.
Great service and atmosphere, would really recommend the avocado toast to anyone who liked avocado) King Cakes are also absolutely delicious and sweet!
Great are the nachos and olea s fries toast try it good staff
Food and drinks are GREAT. Definitely try a dish with one of their homemade breads!
Sub par food this time round!! Ordered the guy scramble was cold and home fries not what they used to be.. mimosa deserved 3 stars
OK yeah they have good breakfast, I guess. I don't think it is as special as people make it out to be, though. Breakfast is the easiest and cheapest meal of the day, there is no reason to wait in line for an hour for toast, grits, and eggs. Also, their lunch menu is OK but is basically overpriced diner food, and the mac and cheese is disappointing.
Fantastic breakfast and coffee. Great service from Jabari who gave us loads of recommendations for Boston
Went for brunch, the food was amazing. But it was very crowded and they sat 10 people at a table for 5. They also asked my friend with a stroller to leave it in the front. Since we were at a table that was already too small there was really nothing we could do. I think they realized that and let it go.
The staff is generally very friendly.
Lets say we wont be visiting again anytime soon, waited 20 minutes to be waited on then waited for dinner and it wasnt that busy. Ordered the fruit bowl as I usually do and asked for it topped with a little yogurt and granola as usual. Well, I received 3 bowls in front of me when it finally arrived and the waitress must have know by the look on my face something was amiss. She blurted out that that was now the way management wanted it served and offered to get a big bowl to mix it up. Well then the bill came and guess what...... it wasnt for a fruit bowl topped with granola, no they double charged for the other side bowls that I NEVER asked for. REALLY. Theft by deception. I didnt ask for anything other than a single bowl of fruit topped with a little yogurt and granola, never was told it would come separate nor that it would be more that way.... she wrote as one item but charged it differently, again really. That coupled with the long wait time to get double charged.... Think I will go else where as they couldn't even address this while we were there, could of cared less about customer satisfaction.
Fantastic french toast, great breakfast. Long wait times so make a reservation in advance.
Very friendly service, prices are a bit steep for a dinner style breakfast.
The Friendly Toast always has a long wait, but once you get in, it's a wonderful place to dine. As other reviewers have written, the decor is kitschy, but the servers are friendly and work hard, and the food is delicious. Try their salmon eggs benedict and get a bloody mary to boot -- you won't be disappointed!
Great omelet and service. One star off because the waiter/bartender REEKED of cigarettes, right down to the hands that dropped my plate on front of me. No "judgement" here, but the lingering smell of cigarettes really diminished the experience and the taste of my meal.
I really wanted to like this place, but honestly it kind of sucked. First off, the staff all dress like 2005 emokids which was hilarious. The place wants to be so hipster, but yet the wall art and decore make it look like an Applebees.
Went for brunch and my potatoes were soggy and oily. I had the Kiss My Grits with eggs over easy, and the dish came out lukewarm.
The 'mimosa' was more like some disgusting liqueur drink and tasted way to boozy to be sipping at 11AM.
The service was fine, wait for 2 was quick, but this place is a hard pass for me.
Loved it, a real bustling diner with a lovely atmosphere. I had the delicious breakfast burrito that I ve been dreaming about ever since
OMG one of my favorites! Love their bourbon drinks!
Had the cheesecake french toast and it was so good that I'm afraid of trying anything new! Pretty cool environment as well!
One of the best brunch places in Cambridge. Sometimes quite a wait, but goes by fast if you get on the waitlist before leaving.
Excellent food but review the menu in advance as it is long enough to require a table of contents and an index!
Always good for breakfast and a trip back to a funky 1950s time warp that probably never really existed but we all secretly wish did.
I found the toast here to be very friendly, almost too friendly. My girlfriend is now jealous and I don t know what to do. As for the meal it was great!
Went here for brunch today, and the food was absolutely amazing! The place has a great sci-fI vibe to it too.
I was underwhelmed with my biscuits and gravy. My biscuits were burned and it was expensive.
I tried going here a second time: I got a breakfast burrito. The quantity was better this time. It didn't have a lot of flavor, but it was pretty good with some hot sauce. The burrito was almost dripping wet, probably from not draining the beans that well.
Go here on a weekend morning for some of the only proper diner food in Kendall Square. If you're lucky enough to have Andy as a server then you're in for an especially good morning. We've had better luck the classics over anything Mexican-inspired, at least when looking for authenticity.
Food is always good. Almost feels like we go too often, but it's just the best.
Solid cocktail lineup. Great variety of food for all diets.
Great environment, wonderful staff, and amazing food! I want to move to Boston just so I can go back every weekend!
Google maps brings you to the wrong address, be aware.
This is my second visit. Last time for dinner and this time for breakfast. Both times, great food.
Great food great atmosphere, sometimes quality is hit or miss if they are busy. Weekend have 2-3 hour waits for brunch so week days are the best option if possible
A very reliable and tasty diner experience. The food is all quite good (although nothing mind blowing) and the service is consistently attentive. Only request would be slightly more veggies/sides available but I suppose you're not at the Friendly Toast to fill up on your veggies anyway.
Service decent-ish. Had a chocolate frappe, which had no flavor whatsoever. Had you asked me what it was I would have guessed plain vanilla. On top of this, it was much more like frothed milk than something you'd recognize as a frappe. And for $8, that's not only disappointing, it's overpriced.
The menu is huge and so are the meals. The homeade bread is NOT to be missed. The bar is somewhat lacking and sometimes slow, but the food more than makes up for it.
Fantastic food, breakfast all day, and my personal favorite is the fish burrito! It gets crowded for brunch but it's good any time of day!
My vegetarian daughter loves this place. So many options for her.
My recommendation is don't eat before you go because the portions are huge
The BLT with fried green tomatoes, vegetarian bacon, and cayenne cheddar bread was so good, I can't stop thinking about it 3 days later. Great service too.
Toast is a leading restaurant point of sale and management system that has revolutionized the way restaurants operate. With its cutting-edge technology, Toast helps restaurants improve their operations, increase sales and create a better guest experience.
The company was founded in 2011 by Steve Fredette, Aman Narang, and Jonathan Grimm with the aim of providing an all-in-one solution for restaurant owners. Since then, Toast has grown to become one of the most trusted names in the industry with over 48,000 restaurants using its platform.
One of the key features that sets Toast apart from other POS systems is its user-friendly interface. The system is designed to be intuitive and easy to use so that even non-technical staff can quickly learn how to use it. This means that restaurant owners can spend less time training their staff on how to use the system and more time focusing on other aspects of their business.
Another major advantage of using Toast is its ability to integrate with other software systems such as accounting software or online ordering platforms. This means that restaurant owners can streamline their operations by automating tasks such as inventory management or payroll processing.
In addition to these features, Toast also offers a range of tools designed specifically for restaurants. For example, it has a tableside ordering feature which allows servers to take orders directly from customers at their table using handheld devices. This not only speeds up service but also improves accuracy since orders are entered directly into the system rather than being written down on paper.
Toast also offers powerful reporting tools which allow restaurant owners to track sales data in real-time. This information can be used to identify trends or areas where improvements could be made such as menu items that are not selling well or times when staffing levels need adjusting.
One area where Toast really shines is in its customer support services. The company offers 24/7 support via phone or email so that restaurant owners can get help whenever they need it. In addition, there are extensive online resources available including video tutorials and user guides which make it easy for users to find answers quickly.
Overall, if you're looking for a comprehensive POS system for your restaurant then look no further than Toast! With its advanced features and excellent customer support services, this platform will help you take your business operations to new heights while improving your bottom line at the same time!
