One of historical relics that you can visit in Sydney
Adoration is very peaceful before the Rosary starts :-)
Great Cathedral! Quiet and peaceful, lovely community. The St Patrick gift shop also highly recommended to visit!
Old Roman Catholic church with a modern worship area
The venue itself is nice but the priest is againts marriage equality. I had the unfortunate pleasure to sit through sermon about how wrong and abnormal LGBTQ people are...
Beautiful modern architecture done in a respectful way
My first holy and my of only confessions ever done at 7 yrs of age lol confessions on a dance floor oh my god I'm heartly sorry offended but to to be in leadership I'm never to my to another mortal but confess them on the dance floor earth is my footstool heaven is my throne my confessions on a dance floor is Hades my body
I enjoy the Traditional Latin Mass. The way Mass should be celebrated.
Reverent liturgies, soaring sacred music, abysmal architecture. Common consensus among the youth: it looks like a basketball court, not a church. Looking forward to the day this monstrosity can be renovated into something more appropriate and appealing.
Beautiful cathedral in parramatta. Love to attend their Sunday Solumn mass with cathedral choir.
Much of Old and Modern Architecture...
Best Easter mass can be experienced here. It's very traditional in terms or the ceremony thats conducted.
New Cathedral is very modern and the architecture is just amazing.
Choir is amazing and the community is very friendly.
...there's no one here - there's no one listening; yet one returns year after year
~ Paschal Triduum ~
The architecture is horrible. The way the old and the new churches are joined together does neither of them any favors.
Catholic Church - was burnt down a few years back and has a modern replacement
Love the outside of this building
But the inside is super modern and doesn't gel with the outside
Not a fan
Very nice church & first time i heard the mass there
We like the ambiance and the friendly people all around
The place is calm and good place for decent partying
Yeah, it's a church....so what, seen one seen 'em all. Not the prettiest, nor the newest.
I visited from South Africa. Beautiful house of prayer. I love the Altar in the center and the crown of thorns hanging above it. Bishop Vincent is a very warm and welcoming leader. I loved going to Mass there while in Australia.
One of the best charchs in parramatta with all the required facilities in it. Nice for baptism and weddings.
Absolutely beautiful Cathedral. I love attending mass there.
I like it. Pious and sacred church with mass timings suitable for all. Love the family mass with the music and piano. The reconciliation session were also great.
Beautiful restoration after devastating fire in 1996. Many religious relics
Beautiful cathedral l grew up here in the 50s/60s walked past it countless times going to Parramatta swimming pool which doesn t exist anymore I love the service and the cathedral choir my son has sung here on many occasions and if you are lucky the Brandenburg orchestra perform here in December you can just sit here
St Patrick s is a must see if you re spending time in Parramatta. Make sure to obtain and read the visitors guide booklet, essential for understanding the design and features of this beautiful, amazing modernist cathedral.
Priests and parishioners are lovely. I love the art design of the Cathedral and chapel. There's something on for spiritual growth daily.
Very modern design but the Mass is very traditional style. Lots of incense at the solemn mass at 11am on Sunday, great choir that does lots of chanting and amazing pipe organ!
You ask me how was Patrick's Cathedral. Still standing.
I love singing here. The 11am Sunday service always has amazing music and the liturgy is done very well.
Beautiful cathedral located in between North and South Parramatta. They maintained the old cathedral and still using it along with the newly built cathedral.
This has become one of my fav place. Very peaceful and very pretty church. People are very helpful and polite specially Debbie..
Good place to go during the week for daily mass and confession
Audio system needs updating. Barely audible in some areas. otherwise beautiful place and ambience
Don t let your children nor yourself fall victim these preachers
Old section has lovely architecture. New main section looks like a basketball court. Lovely choir.
The Cathedral has a Very Roman Catholic feel. Construction material are at the finest quality. I
Like the quality fitout and the atmosphere. It is renovating the internal halls.
It has a lot of channels to source money. Apart from merchandise. Charity. There s also an option to donate your entire wealth as a mean to repent and be forgiven of the sins promising a chance to be accepted.
I wouldn t doubt many people that has lived all their life without doing much good and at the end found out the answer and have woke up through the light giving them wisdom.
People like those carrying years of sins. Greed all their life with family issues. They might donate their wealth to Church then to give an inheritance to their own children that not one worth giving.
Love this church. Very peaceful and great environment for prayer.
A beautiful, historic church. The sandstone is magnificent.
I like this Cathedral. Very modern design. Peaceful n serene for us to meditate n reflection
Hate to give a bad review to a church, but you can't hear anything in this church, echo is sooo bad
The chapel is beautiful, the gift shop reasonably priced and the sculpture outside is amazing
St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta: The Cradle of Catholicism in Australia
St Patrick’s Parish, Parramatta is a historic and iconic landmark that has been an integral part of the Australian Catholic community for over 200 years. Known as The Cradle of Catholicism in Australia, St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta is a testament to the rich history and cultural heritage of the country.
The cathedral was established in 1827 by Father John Therry, who arrived in Sydney as a chaplain to the convict colony. He was instrumental in establishing many churches and schools throughout New South Wales, including St Patrick’s Parish School which is now recognized as the oldest Catholic Parish School in Australia.
Over time, St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta has undergone several renovations and expansions to accommodate its growing congregation. Today it stands tall as one of the most magnificent cathedrals not only in Australia but also around the world.
The architecture of St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta is awe-inspiring with its Gothic Revival style that features pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and intricate stained glass windows. The cathedral boasts a grand nave with soaring ceilings that create an atmosphere of reverence and tranquility.
Apart from its architectural beauty, St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta also holds significant religious importance for Catholics across Australia. It serves as a place for worship where people come together to celebrate mass or attend other religious ceremonies such as weddings or funerals.
In addition to being a place for worship, St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta also plays an important role in promoting education and social justice within its community. It offers various programs aimed at helping those who are less fortunate or marginalized such as refugees or homeless people.
One such program is "Matthew Talbot Hostel", which provides shelter and support services for men experiencing homelessness or addiction issues. Another program called "CatholicCare" offers counseling services to individuals struggling with mental health issues or family problems.
St Patrick's Cathedral Parramatta has always been committed to serving its community through various outreach programs aimed at improving people’s lives both spiritually and socially. Its mission is not just limited to providing spiritual guidance but also extends towards creating positive change within society by promoting values like compassion, empathy, respect for diversity among others.
In conclusion, St Patrick’s Parish Church stands tall today not just because it represents centuries-old history but because it continues to be relevant even today by serving society through various outreach programs aimed at making this world better than yesterday!
