I love a good market, and Time Out Market offers the best of what Chicago has to offer. This market is located in what seems to be an old warehouse. I love the community seating in the center of it all on the first floor. All seating on the first floor is high top, so if that is not your thing then make your way to the back of the second floor. On the second floor there is an area with couches that overlooks the dining area and the large television. We hung out here and watched the All Star Game with a fantastic view.
First, can I say thank you for having the Art of Pizza here? I feel like they are often overlooked, even though I think they are one of the best pizza places in Chicago.
Duck Inn Dogs - We had the cheese curds, and in my opinion they were just alright. The breading outdid the cheese, and then they also put a ketchup as well as an aioli sauce all over the top of them. I would have asked for that on the side, but with the breading and sauces, which added a sweetness, the cheese was overpowered. Next time I'm here, I hope to try their elote corn dog, but I would pass on the cheese curds.
Decent Beef - When trying the best of Chicago, you can't go wrong with an Italian Beef, and at Decent Beef they kick it up a notch with using prime rib. The bun was great with a nice crunchy outer crust. I would order this every time I come, probably with extra meat next time.
Split Rail - We came during a wing special, so we got 8 wings for $8. I got their house made hot sauce on the side. The wings were nice and crisp, with great flavor, and super juicy on the inside. The sauce was spicy and tangy. I would definitely order again.
Brian Fisher - I wish I would have tried so much more from here! We only had the peanut butter egg roll, which had duck confit and veggies inside, and it was PHENOMENAL. I would order this again any day, and it was my favorite item of all the things we tried. Next time I'm going in for the brussel sprouts and that butterscotch croissant is on my radar too.
John Manion - The Porteno Poutine was so tasty! They took your average poutine, and added chimichurri, and there were crispy pieces of provolone... my mouth is watering just thinking about it again. I was really eyeing that Maximo beef rib, which is a little pricey, but feeds two. Next time
Secret Sound - I had the Golden Glow, which was strong, but didn't taste overpowering like alcohol. Nice, smooth tropical flavors. My husband had the Ghost + Empties, which was Secret Sound's take on an old fashioned, but with some subtle banana flavor. Each drink is $15, and to order you have to go to the window on the second floor and ring the bell.
I really enjoyed the flavors that Time Out Market Chicago offered, and I can't wait to come back and try some of the same things, and some new things. You have to hunt around for parking, but because we went late on a Sunday night, there was street parking available. All vendors inside the Time Out Market take card only, no cash. They have a large demonstration kitchen, so I will also be back to check that out!
