I tried Tim's last night. I have had much better seafood at a much better price. My food was not fresh enough for what I paid for it. Maybe I didn't order the right stuff but I don't think that should matter. This place is also in need of a SERIOUS cleaning.

Update: I got food poisoning.

The ambiance is very nice and it is a very kid friendly restaurant as it is outside and on the beach. The service is impeccable!! The prices are very reasonable. A crabcake sandwich and a softshell crab sandwich are both $14 each. My husband enjoyed his crabcake sandwich but my softshell crab sandwich was borderline disgusting. It was all salt and no seasoning. Overall 5 for the staff and ambiance and 2 for the food.

It was a beautiful day (60 degrees in mid-December!) and we had to go to Tim's. It was still early lunch so we were hoping to beat Sunday crowd.

We were seated immediately right on the water. Daquan was there to get us fed some fresh seafood. Had crab balls to start and a cup of the chowder. The crab balls are excellent and the chowder was creamy good. Had the stuffed shrimp to top it off.

Got to explore one of the piers with the little one and take in the awesome view; the Potomac's calmness that day only seen in magazines.

The place is a little shack down by the river, but the food is delicious! The crab dip was sooo good, try the crab!! Slightly pricey but you get plenty for your money. It was a little warm to sit outside today but would love to come back and dine al fresco on the deck. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Depends on what you want.

Depends on what you want.

A fun, southern style Crab shack, on the water, open air, fresh seafood, beer plentiful, beachfront, tattoos visible then this is your place.

And while the seafood is fresh and tasty, as a restaurant this place is not impressive. The kitchen is to small to serve a busy crowd, the wait staff is confused (gave our appetizers to another table, didn't ask if we wanted dessert before bringing check, don't know if they ever charged tip to our credit card), distant parking, no reservations. The train cuts both ways: it's fun to have the train blow through, but it's really close!

Expensive, too.

Fun experience, a little rowdy, a hint of mischief: come right in. Responsive dining exeprience? Walk on by.

June 29, 2013 was our first time there and it definitely will not be our last. It is what it is, a hole in the wall on the shore. Friendly people and service. The waiter, Adam, was up front about the two kitchen concept and that certain food comes from one and other food comes from the other, and asked for out patience. Adam was very busy but took time to ensure we were taken care of and we were/are very happy with what we received. It was definitely more pricey than we would have liked for the food we got, but the people, view and overall atmosphere more than made up for it.

Great atmosphere, music. Food was good and staff friendly. Wait for food was a bit long and bacon wrapped scallops appetizer was a small serving for the price. Will be going back, though, as it was an overall enjoyable experience

We love coming here when we visit our son. The food is great! My husband really enjoyed the rock fish dinner. The atmosphere is fun and comfortable and the servers are always friendly, kind, and efficient.

They said they had take out but they don t. Asked in advanced because we were coming on the boat. Once we got here they said the only way was to get a table outside. So I asked for a reservation, after an hour and a half we walked to the restaurant and they had never put our name on the list. Very unorganized.

I ve been coming to Tim s for the last 6 years tonight was the first time I ve ever been disappointed! If I could give it 0 stars I would but it s not Tim s it was the bartender! Don t even now where to start first I sat at the bar inside and waited for 20 mints while the bar tender attendent everyone else and continue to ignore us! When I got his attention (tall guy colorful hat) told me to hold on while he served some one that had just came up to the bar. Finally got my first drink and put my order in waited another 45 minutes and asked where my food was he told me it was a 45 minutes wait after all ready waited 45 minutes and I told him I ll just take my tab and he gave me a grin while throwing my receipt and the pen at me! I always tip good but tonight he got a big fat $0 disappointed in the quality of workers they ve come to hire!

We went on the Sunday of Memorial Weekend , and as expected it was busy. AJ was our server , and I have not met a more pleasant individual in quite sometime ( especially during the controlled chaos that seafood restaurants along the Potomac can be ) The hushpuppies were good, so we ordered some to go. Steamed spiced shrimp , crab imperial and fried soft shells all made a solid showing. It wasn't our first time at Tim's and it won't be our last.

Wait time is 45 minutes or more. Food is decent. Atmosphere depends on day of the week. On a busy day it's spring bling, on a slow day its still a frequented biker hangout. Weekends they usually have live music. Great venue to hold social gatherings and family events. Drinker and smoker friendly. Spacious & open venue right on the shores of Dumfries, VA. Menu Recommendation: Buc$ Burger

I give it 3 stars for the ambiance, but the food is sub par. I will come back now that im not pregnant to try their extensive drink menu, but i can do without the food. Its overpriced and not worth it, in my opinion. If you can afford to pay for the view and mediocre food on a nice day out, tims is great.

Went after years of absence. Great experience!! COVID compliant, excellent staff, great food and a reasonable wait for this pristine location. Take your family, friends, and loves and enjoy the great atmosphere, drinks, food and river life.

I was looking forward to the experience but it was not alot to really be happy about once I did. I had the softshell crab sandwich with fries and an alcoholic beverage. My friend she had the snow crab legs and a popular drink. To my surprise you get a little sippy plastic cup for your drinks??? The staff was pleasant but I just thought the food would have had a better presentation. It's a restaurant but you are dining in a diner by the river. It's like the old juke joint hotspot or the Bootlegger house experience of booze and fried foods after clubbing...only its on the river. I may go back but not til the summer. For first impressions...i was not impressed. But for what it is the food is fair and the prices are comparable to other "restaurants" in the area and you do get to sit on the river

STAY AWAY! Worst restaurant experience ever :( We used to love coming to Tim's but not anymore. Apparently, the owners got an idea that they are very exclusive, being one of the few on-the-river eateries, and stopped caring for quality of service altogether, The restaurant has felt rundown and neglected for a while now, but it's the absence of service that has completely turned us off. They don't seem to care for customers whatsoever. People sit at the tables waiting for ther food for hours. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks (!) and another 20 minutes for appetizers (a platter of raw veggies!!!). We literally had to force our server to bring us our orders as it seemed he had completely forgot about us. After 2 hours our snow crab legs never showed up at our table, although the server made it clear that this food would come in first. A part of our groups left without their dinner because the food they had ordered never arrived. I strongl advise against entrusting your weekend to this place, unless you like to aimlesly sit at the table and shuffle salt shaker... We are definitely not coming back.

It s a nice place but a bit hard to get to due to the gravel road. Something rarely found in this busy area, it s a bit of a waterside oasis and a break from the busy metro area. Service was great and no one had any problems with food. Their drink menu is fun and creative. Outdoor seating is great in fair weather but a decent amount of seating is available inside.

This will be my last visit for food.

This will be my last visit for food.

Facts about our visit:
1. We had a party of 6. One vehicle.
2. Ordered cheeseburger w/ fries (~$15), 3 broiled dinner platters (~$24/ea), crab cakes (~$18) and kids grilled cheese (~$5)

Experience:
The worst part of this experience was the food and the service. I was really disappointed in the crab cake. It looked delicious, but had quite a bit of shell in it. The food was really salty. The grill cheese was super dry and even a little burnt. It took about 20 minutes to just order at get our drinks. The food took 40 minutes. The server was generally nice though. Parking is terrible, but we all know that already. Someone's car got hit in the lot while I was there.

Recommendations:
Go with friends for drinks. Take your boat. They have live music and a beautiful ambiance. Don't go with family expecting good service and quality food.

***Credit Card Fraud*** This restaurant refused to seat me without opening a credit card tab, which I did. After my meal I paid my tab in cash. The server double charged my credit card anyway. When I disputed the charges on my credit card they created a fake receipt to justify the charges. I am filing a police report. Stay away!!!
