Carmine's Family Italian Kitchen Review

An absolute disgrace, I went there with my partner for our Anniversary for a nice dinner. Everything was fine at first, our reservation was upheld and we were seated shortly after arrival (note, there were 3 empty tables around us). We sat down and ordered at 8:40, the tables around us filled up around 8:50. It's 9:20 and our food has not come, however, all three of the tables that were seated after us, had their food already. We continued to wait, and after an hour of waiting for the food, the pasta is hard. I waited for out waiter to come back and he didn't, I had to get up and go look for a manager. The manager questioned my claim, but said he would get me another one. I continued to wait for my new food to come out, by the time my food came out, every table around us was leaving, the same tables that arrived after my partner and I. When the order finally came out they wrapped it and taped the bag, so we couldn't eat it. The manager did not check on us, nor did our waiter. I had to get up to request my check and my waiter was just standing in front of our table waiting for us to pay. We ordered penne a la vodka with chicken, when I opened my take home bag, it was penne a la vodka with SHRIMP. I am highly allergic, which prevents me from eating the pasta. We paid $70 to not eat any food and it ruined our anniversary. Everyone around us was treated better than us, I would never go back.

I went last year for my birthday and had the same waiter as tonight. His service was amazing and so was the food I must say. Hands down this is one of my favorite restaurants in NY.

Good family style italian and much less busy/noisy than the Times Square location.

This restaurant and it's atmosphere is definitely the place to go with a group of friends or family. The food comes out in a big plate to share. Definitely recommend the chicken parm. And if you're hungry for dessert ask about their special titanic sundae.

Doesn't get much better than this for Italian. Been to Carmine's before a long while ago and had this visit guaranteed for the recent visit and it was exactly as I expected, fantastic. Will definitely be on the agenda on our next visit!

Very nice restaurant. I went for my Birthday. The food was delicious and they come in very large portions. It also comes in Family Style. I believe you have to make reservations prior.

Food was amazing! Great family atmosphere that is loud and full of life. Service is fast and friendly. Both of our kids are picky eaters but that night no one put up a fight! Can t wait to come back for more!

If you're not consuming alcohol with your food, you become a second class customer. I noticed that waiters ignored me and kept asking my friend if he needed another shot, my glass of ginger ale was empty and never was offered a refill unless I asked for it.

The steak dishes are to die for. Their pasta is top notch as well.

The portions of food are great. The spaghetti sauce was a little salty.

Ordered a Carmines salad to go said it would be ready in 30 mins. they took our phone number, sat outside waiting for them to call never called so we called them and they said it was ready got it home $28.00 worth of lettures 2 pieces of tomatoes two olives nothing like the salad we ordered when we ate in. Called to speak with the manager the person on the other asked us to hold on, came back said the manager was in the office I once again said they would call us. Still waiting!!

Great cuisine and service, but you better bring at least a few other people. Everything is served family size, so also bring your appetite.

Delicious food all around, if you around New York this place is a must. They have all kind of good Italian dishes. You have to experience this yourself, I would definitely recommended this place to anyone..

Great Italian food served family style. Great ambiance.

This was a big group meal 35+ people. We ate in the private room to the side which accommodates up to 40. We had three staff dedicated to the room and they did a great job serving and distributing food. Everything was served family style, which means big platters put out at three different stages of the meal. We also got to drink package to include soft drinks, beer, and wine. They were not stingy!
The person I worked with to reserve the room, Noel, was really patient and understanding even when I made last-minute changes.

Absolutely disgraceful service a few weeks ago. I frequent the Carmine s in Vegas as well as this location when I am in NYC. I could not have been more disappointed with my recent trip there, and I will not go back to this location. I had a reservation for 5 PM through opentable to celebrate my birthday. We got there exactly on time, and the hostess said that the reservation was for 4:30 and we missed it. She wouldn t even look at my confirmation on my phone for 5!! Very very long story short the hostesses at this location are completely unprofessional and RUINED my birthday dinner. We had a broadway show that we had to leave on time to, so we could catch the subway, and we didn t get seated until after 6. Leaving us with about an hour to eat. Completely unenjoyable visit, and they also got our pasta wrong. We didn t even have time to get a new one, and had to flag someone down to get our check so we could hurry and leave on time. (Our waiter was MIA) thanks for ruining my birthday dinner, Carmine s. The service at the Vegas location earlier last month was far superior.

Good everything. Good food, huge portions. chicken parmegiana is really good. Well cooked and juicy. Penne alla vodka is also very tasty. For dessert try the canolli with pistachios. Service also very good.

Went for takeout. Quoted a 30/40 min wait. Waited 32 mins & saw bags @ cashier. Never notified order was ready until I questioned cashier

Out waiter was nice and funny, gave us great entertainment during our meal.

I've been coming here to eat the best Italian food my whole life. Carmine's is our #1 choice when dining in NYC. I'll update my review to 5 stars when they update the dining room. Broken lighting and cracked walls? Come on, now.

One of my all time favorite italian restaurants in NYC been coming here for years. Food is always good, service is always good however, if you decide to try their location in the theater district you'll end up waiting for little over an hour if you don't make a reservation other than that highly recommend everyone to try this place.

Went for a birthday celebration for my niece and daughter, so in total we were a party of 16 ppl. The whole experience average. The food was passable and so was the service. I was quite surprised as this had never been my experience at the Midtown location. Very disappointed.

I had such a wonderful experience here about 2 weeks ago. My BFF's family was in town so she arranged this dinner which I was invited to. She mentioned the reservationist was really pleasant and had heard the food was good. This restaurant is so comfortable and the staff were very welcoming. The food was delicious. The bread at the start was a focaccia and it was yummy. Caesar salad was really big, which we split 2 of amongst us. The meat lasagna was so terrific and fresh and one of us ordered the fried calamari, which was pretty much awesome. My main was the penne alavodka, which I absolutely loved.

Croutons and bread were very stale, chicken marsala was very salty and the penne was undercooked, and the waiter tried to do some fancy serving to our plates but spilt alot on the table. Family style restaurant so servings were large. It's hard to go here when you're a total of 4 people and even harder for two. Overall a bad experience. Definitely skip this if you can.

Nothing like Carmine's on 44th in Times Square. Food was not as tasty, drinks were made by a manager. Will not be going back.

Bring your appetite!! Family style Italian Restaurant. Good authentic Italian food. Their chicken scarpriello is the best I ever had in a restaurant. Then if you have room. Their strawberry shortcake is absolutely delicious.

Delicious food! This place is a family or group oriented, the plates are huge and serve about 4 people each. I went with my work team and the service was excellent. We all ate lots and lots of food and had dessert and the bill was not even high including the tip.. definitely going back again with my entire family!!

Great for groups, or if you have a big appetite. If you're going on the weekend, I recommend getting a reservation as it can fill up quickly. I highly recommend the veal scallopini, it's wonderful!

We are from England, What a FANTASTIC friendly place and probably the BEST steak i have ever eaten, and the pasta is unbelivable. Its quite pricey but the staff are very friendly and the food is outstanding. Oh nearly forgot the cocktails WOW. 100% worth a visit while your in New York.

Sometimes it is difficult to get involved when it comes to paying.
