Dated rooms I do not mind too much. It is the exceptionally terrible service at this hotel that struck me. I am staying there right now. Reception can very seldom be reached on the phone, and room service has a shocking attitude and just hangs up on you. Do yourself a favor and book your room somewhere else.
Stayed here on a business visit to London. Couldn't fault it, service was great, great price for Central London too. Pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room (gym if you like that kinda thing ) were nice touch. Thanks
When they understand that I am a 1 time visitor they gave me room which is window is not cl sing well and radiator(heater) is not working, they changed my room 3 times!! at the last time they told me this:" this time we are giving you a room from 4th floor, you will not have a problem" !!!! WHAT!! they do it on purpose!!!! I do not recommend this hotel. (Last room was ok.)
The Jacuzzi was overly hot, they had to turn it off so for it to cool down, so that was bad. The steam room had no steam in it. Even others wondered what was going on. When we were getting changed, a member of staff stood right at our faces asking for all bathroom robes, she said they needed cleaning right now for other people, I'm sorry, what if we decided to stay in the pool a lot longer? What was she going to give to the others then?
Too bad we had to wait 4 hours to get our room and it lacks a bit of cleanliness. After we are close to everything. For a weekend it's going
Good location, charming hotel, great SPA/Gym.. smallish room.. would recommend it!
Went here for a spa deal. The massage was good but the pedicure was painful! The prosecco included in the deal was either warm or served with ice and we had to carry it from the spa up to the bar.

Thanks for a lovely evening and I am sure a lot of people parted with a lot of dosh to support the Mayor of Islington Charity Angel Sheds. Food was delicious and services were excellent.
They had overbooked guests and did not have a I room when i arrived around 11 pm to check in for a room that i had already paid for. I received a very cold service asking me to take a cab to some other hotel in the middle of the night, after i had a very tiring day. I was downgraded to a dingy small room with no air conditioning. And noone answered the phone at reception when i wanted a fan in the room. Things improved the next day, i was given the room I booked for the second night, which was so much better than what i had to put up with the previous day.
By my side we had a good view. The room was actually quite good, a few minor complications, but that's not bad. You get a scan card, you have to scan it at the door, at the elevator, and at his room . if you are 2 or more people and then it is stupid that you only have a card. The breakfast you can book is very delicious. A pool (with a small sauna) is also available, but children are not allowed in the Jacuzzi It was very good. (FF: The beds were on roll you could move them back and forth in the room was funny :-))
Quite expensive for the little you get out of this hotel, the decor depressing the facilities so old, the toilet makes a smell when you flush. Bring earl plugs for all the noise.
It's your bog standard hotel. Nothing special but clean and tidy. The bar is tiny

The staff and food is great the room is poor. In the current hot weather the fan isn't enough. I've had around 6hours sleep the last three nights due to the heat. Something needs to be done to be able to manage the hotter weather.
Dated. Good price but you are better off in a Premier inn.
Hotel staff were very friendly and the food was good. Even gave us free coffee for having to wait a couple of minutes for the bill. Rooms a bit small but very clean. Would stay here again
Stayed NYE very pleasant hotel and reception staff are helpful. We found parking very easy as it was bank holiday we parked on road with no charge. The only disappointment was the bar was shut early we rushed back from fireworks to have few drinks so we couldn't celebrate 2018. But a plus was the manager on shift New year day compensated us by some discount off bill and a very nice email
The hotel is clean, the rooms are cleaned daily, the staff super friendly and the breakfast is delicious, with a large selection.
All in all, I have been very happy with the eye content.

OK mid-priced hotel, but the immediate area is a bit dull. Staff are quite helpful and will respond to any enquiry the best they can. Breakfast is quite OK.
I booked it as a late deal, and deal it was, very central in London, close to all amenities and choices of tube lines, bus stations etc. Had use of spa facilities if I wanted them, and breakfast was included also. Nice and quiet single room, clean, lovely sheets and a nice big bath to relax in. Staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. Only minor issue was that breakfast was a bit of a free for all, but it was a Sunday morning, and summertime, so what else would you expect!!! I'd stay again without hesitation.

We booked a double room but got to arranged to a twin room. The lift was broken on the day we check in (we have to carry our bags and luggage to 3rd floor).
Fantastic , The staff were very helpful and polite.
First night was with a room that had no air conditioning. Moved for the second night and air conditions drips constantly. Obviously a problem well before tonight. No maintenance onsite and trying to get someone to see if they can fix with no other options. Room smells damp and musty (can t imagine why!!) think long and hard before booking.
I have stayed here before with no probs until today! - hence the score.
If you are going to use this hotel as a place to freshen up and get ready to go somewhere on the same day- don't come here!
I had to be somewhere at 3pm. I arrived at 1pm to be told my room would not be ready til 2pm. So I thought- I will still have enough time.
Came back to reception at 2pm to be told that there was no.checkin because the keys were not working. I waited 15mins. Back to reception no change! No options coming from the reception staff.
I stated I need to be somewhere at 3pm and needed to change.
I was then offered the swimming bath changing rooms!
Which is an open space with lockers.
I therefore got dressed for my event in the toilets.
I can't beleive That they do not have a decent room or space for if A problem with room keys occur.
I was not offered a text or telephone call to tell me that the problem had been resolved.
Customer service - poor!
Very good stay. Hotel has all the facilities you would expect including good gym and pool which I used for first time. And reasonable price considering its central london

Thistle City Barbican was the worst hotel experience of my life. Awful location, rude and unhelpful staff, inadequate facilities and overpriced. Will never stay with this company again.

Liked the pool,sauna & steam room.The room was very clean and maintained.Breakfast was nice on the first day buy not good on the second.I recommend getting up slightly early to avoid disappointment when it comes to breakfast.Only disabled facilities is a ramp at the front of the hotel.But a small disability scooter will fit in some rooms and down corridors.

The hotel had great customer service. Listened to our every needs for our event.
I'm usually given a room on the 6th floor which gives some decent views over London but the rooms are in need of a revamp; they are showing their age.
Recently I was given a free "upgrade" to a room on the 3rd floor but in honesty I'd rather go up to the 6th. The room felt smaller, I'm sure the bed was smaller, the bathroom looked nicer but the bath was definitely smaller, and I had an internal view in to other rooms.
It's a bit tired but in a God location if visiting the barbican. Good for meetings and presentations

Was given a room set up for one person when a double room was booked, but the room was comfortable, and breakfast was pretty good.

Dated room but very clean and functional. Front of desk staff Seline was very good checking me in. She upgraded me from single to double room. They're bicycle friendly, allowing me to leave the bicycle in the luggage storage room. the housekeeping were very good, i left my Fitbit in the room after I checked out, phoned up.and they found it. Pool area clean but closed a bit early. Overall good hotel for the price paid.
This place needs to be gutted and completely refurbished! The carpet is mouldy and smells absolutely dreadful. It s worse in the hallways.. not too bad in the actual room, you can open the windows to let in fresh air thank God. But for the price I paid, overall, it s pretty poor. TV is free to air, grainy and not all channels work. You can hear what your neighbour is watching/talking about. There were some good things to mention despite the shabby state of the place: the staff were friendly and housekeeping was excellent. The shower pressure was good and the water hot. There s a safe and hairdryer. Food at the cafe was passable. Stay if you must but I m sure there are better options around at that price point.
Helpful and friendly interns at the desk, clean and comfortable place to stay. It's not the newest, shiniest place, but it's OK.
Beds are comfy enough but it could use some help in the "zinger" department.

Great reception....but the rooms are very dated. Having said that, it was a cheap nightly rate, good location, and a fantastic breakfast. Overall, would recommend, but not a romantic getaway!
The guidhall hall conference room was effective, smart and clean with plenty of refreashments provided. Lunch is a good buffet with a good selection.
Rooms are really small and dated. The whole hotel feels like it was build 40 years ago and they have only painted it a few times. Locations is supposed to be good, but there is no tube station close by. Their pictures on Booking are deceiving and make it look much better. For this price it is not worth at all.
I love the interior of the hotel. However some bigger rooms would be great. Don't know, maybe there are, but mine wasn't it.
Did not stay in room,only there to use conference facilities. Very good. Food excellent.

Hotel is comfortable and clean. Only issue I has was the key cars did jot work and I had to go back to desk with all my luggage to get someone to sort it.
