The breakfast selection is very wide and the hotel is less than 5mins from the bus stop and you can stroll through a small park on your way. Very close by is a church and through it was Sunday, we didn t hear the bells toll until we were going out and about. The front desk was really nice and the room/bathroom was cozy/small. Very much like an old hotel from New York. They don t have washcloths or an ice machine, much to my grandmothers dismay lol but we made due and it was nice.

Nice place overall but one of the lifts wasn't working for the duration of my stay which meant getting to my room on the top floor was difficult. Also, there are no plug sockets next to the bed which was a bit of a problem for me as I tend to use my laptop in bed.

Not the best, the room was pretty old and hasn't been updated for a good while, it was also quite noisy, I could hear the lift beeping and lots from outside. The location is great but I think next time I'll find a premier inn nearby instead.

Nice hotel and nice staff. Could do with a little updating the spa facilities are good but could have done with a clean towards the afternoon. Overall its value for money for a spa hotel.

The rooms were very tiny. I'm not a big guy but I kept hitting the cabinet every time I walked through the room. The heater wouldn't turn off even when you set it to off, and the only way to get cold air in the room is to crack open a window, the outside area was so dirty and disgusting looking I was afraid rats would come in the room if I kept the window open. The hotel didn't have a fix for the heater, they only offered to bring a fan into the room which I didn't want because then I'm only circulating the same heat. The beds aren't comfortable, they aren't the worst beds out there but at the same time they could have been better. The closest bus or tube(metro) station is about a mile away from the hotel. For the same or similar price that I booked the room with there are better options in London.

Lovely friendly staff, even gave us a free room upgrade despite declining the first offer. Room service we ordered past 10 o clock and they couldn't be more obliging. We will be coming back here when we visit London for a weekend again. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

For a family room 3 people, the bathroom is small for my taste and not practical. The toilets are not separated. The sink and not practical you can not leave the toiletry kits on the edge or on a shelf. There is only one closet for clothes. Too much furniture that is useless. Convenient there is an ironing board and an iron + a hairdryer and a free safe. For cleanliness, do not look in the corners. But I'm part of the household maniacs. The food is ok although the breakfast is expensive 12 pounds per person. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Old Street Underground Station on the Northern.

Comfortable clean rooms with all.the usual amenities friendly helpful staff especially receptionists and the leisure centre staff. The pool was a bit small but otherwise good with jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms. We got a good deal for our room. Would definitely visit again.

Room and breakfast ok - the reception staff (five different people over three days) is hard to beat in incompetence... a conference paid for my stay in advance, they took my credit card in spite of that ("we can't see that in our system, sir") and it took for long conversations with multiple persons plus two phone calls from the conference organiser to resolve. On film it would have been very funny.

Unfortunately we Italians are badly accustomed in terms of the quality of the hotels. Although there is nothing dramatic, the rooms show they have seen better times, the carpet has the signs of the past and the bathroom is willingly aligned. Better common public spaces, but corridors and entrance halls are no different from the rooms. Courteous and professional staff.

Convenient location for work based around Angel. Mistakenly booked single room which despite previous stays in double, the single room seemed a lower quality, not as cleanly but acceptable. Would advise double room booking.

The hotel is pretty nice, the people who work there are helpful, also some are Dutch, which was a Nice surprise as a dutchie :). The rooms looked very decent and the location is fine. Its a bit of a walk to the underground though

Stayed for 2 nights, room is pretty standard and what you'd expect. However the air con unit makes a lot of random noises, even when it's turned off and constantly woke me up from sleeping.

Rooms were ok , fan or air con not working in 1 out he 2 rooms, the breakfast sausages were terrible and ofnoh cut open you can see pink pink and more pink as they are not cooked properly .

The restaurant food was good ( if you got what you asked for ) the 2 weeks I was there I ate dinner 8 times there and 3 out the 8 my meal was wrong .

Decent hotel, location is ok, near old Street, Islington, clerkenwell, and obviously Barbican.
I was given a free upgrade which was nice, although the room was very standard in reality. Good enough for a weekend stay, good value - was one of the cheaper options when I booked.

All in all, decent, I would stay here again.

Unfortunately, this is a strong example of where lack of investment in management and training has taken its toll. The restaurant evening staff were rude, had very little understanding of allergens, and no concept of time it seemed. When the food finally arrived it was nice, but the sheer wait and lack of communication were a total disaster. We waited 25 minutes to be told 'sorry we don't have that' and a similar situation with regards to the wait between courses. Even paying the bill was a fiasco.

The heat in the entire hotel was almost unbearable, for mid-september the heating doesn't need to be on so high that it's stifling.

I'm glad work paid for this hotel as a business trip as it was very disappointing.

The saving grace was the catering for the boardroom meeting during the day and breakfast food and staff.

Hotel really nice! The entrance is between 2 buildings, the lobby with the reception very pleasant and adjacent to the dining room. There are 2 lifts to go upstairs. The corridors are very clean and the rooms well indicated. I had a room with big bed, a large TV with many channels, air conditioning, a desk with a large mirror and the menu of the restaurant, a closet with hair dryer, iron and ironing board, a safe, a needed for tea and coffee, the bathroom quite spacious with bath and soap / shampoo / shower gel. Everything was very clean. The gym and swimming pool are in the basement and accessible by elevator or stairs, because they are in the Otium leisure club which is accessible to hotel guests but also to guests outside the hotel . You just have to announce to the person who manages the room that you are a guest of the hotel and to note your room and sign on the register. It is advisable to go to the locker room with its own lock for lockers but it is possible to borrow a padlock. Towels are provided. The weight room is rather rudimentary but not very well to do the trick: several cardio machines, dumbbells, and machines to provide work for each body part (see photos). The area is very quiet and pleasant but close to public transport (metro Old street 10min walk) and supermarkets. In the end: really nice stay, in a nice hotel and close to Old Street. I recommend this hotel 100%!
