After a month boozin' and cruisin', eating anything and everything around Thailand, I thought I'd break up my two month trip with a 7-day Tiger Muay Thai experience. I bought the deluxe package. I bought gloves and handwraps, the whole bit. I went all in.
Now, Tiger isn't the cheapest of places to stay, or train, but there's a certain cult beauty in the air that I just couldn't resist. I trained there, I ate there (almost exclusively) and slept there for a full week.
The training is immaculate. The trainers are great at what they do, and also very funny which was an unexpected bonus. I had a great time in their sessions. Every class, you will leave a gorgeous, sweaty, mess. And that's exactly why we do it.
The Tiger grill is pretty good. The lunch/dinner menu has some delicious meals. The basil chicken and rice, the mexi bowl, the chicken bowl were some of my favourites. The breakfast is worth skipping (I prefered the Greek Cafe "Greze" up the road for breakfast). And you'll find much better protein smoothies almost anywhere else on that stretch of road.
This is where it gets bad...
The store is very expensive. I purchased MMA shorts, wore them for 30 minutes (I did not train in them) and realized they were a size too small. I went back to the store and asked if they would exchange them for a larger size. The lady working the till refused. She was absolutely miserable, and wouldn't budge. I guess it's my fault for not reading the policy, but I am a practical man who just spent nearly $1000 at the camp... At the very least I deserve friendly service. So I had to buy another pair. Those shorts came out to about $70 CAD each. A guy I met at Tiger, said he also had a couple negative run-ins with rude staff in the front office.
I was in bungalow 16. The mattress I slept on was the most uncomfortable mattress I've encountered in Thailand (remember, I paid extra for "deluxe") and I've stayed in many a hostel. I tossed and turned all night. On one occasion, I skipped the morning classes because I only had collected maybe a couple hours of sleep. And I am a great sleeper.
The A/C is okay, it never really got down to the temperature I prefer, but I'm a furnace at night so I'll let that slide. Although, I did wake up with a bit of sore throat every morning... Usually, running A/C throughout night never bothers me.
The shower never got hot once, with barely any water pressure. Again, Deluxe package.
I did it wrong...
If I could do it all over again. I'd chose nicer accommodation and just train at Tiger. I would eat at the Tiger grill every so often, not bothering with their meal card or meal plan.
I really really really wanted to love my week at Tiger. I can't say I did.
In Thailand you find in every little village a hut with one or two sandbags and an old former fighter who can teach you a few moves.
This place is a little different...
300-400 people are training here every day in 25 different daily classes, with highly educated personal trainers or on their own. From Thaiboxing, Western Boxing, to MMA to weight lifting. From fitness, Crossfit to Yoga and much more everybody finds something to push up that heart rate, get in shape, learn martial arts or just have a good time. From first day beginners to UFC or Thaiboxing superstars - there is something for everybody.
Came to Phuket from Canada specifically to train at Tiger Muay Thai and was not dissapointed. Training facility is huge, clean and well maintained. Fantastic no-gi jiu jitsu classes with a shocking amount of talented practitioners rolling on the mats. Can't wait to come back and train more with their great coach and hard working team.
Good gym to train and loose the extra pounds. They have small rooms as well that you can rent. These are not 5 star rooms but they are clean and decent. The trainers are helpful and professional, they know what they are doing. You can make your own schedule with your own private teacher but I enjoyed the full class training sessions with around 6 people. Near the training camp there are lots of restaurants so this means you can do most things by walking just a short distance. There is a Vegan restaurant nearby that is a must visit. I forgot the name of it but the staff at the training center knows. Loved it, good location.
The CrossFit consists of 30 people paying 4 times what you would in a developed country with no coaching, people with zero experience are carrying out dangerous movements such as kettlebell swings with only a brief demonstration. The equipment is not particularly good, there are no fans and the board is tiny so you cannot read it from the back of the class. Again like the rest of soi ta iad it's overpriced massively and only about making money, there is no interest in your development.
The two witches at the front desk start every sentence with 'no you pay money first' and act like robots not explaining anything or compromising on expanding a trial session to a week, it's like dealing with robotic tax investigators.
If you plan on using this place you'll be left with no dignity, your are treated like a child on a school outting.
A very good club came three times I advise everyone !!!
The best experience ever. Classes are spot. Help is always there with the most friendly staff and coaches. Meals and diet plans are on point. Full of different classes and lessons.
I trained at Tiger Muay Thai Phuket last month for 2.5 weeks, doing Muay Thai classes, Muay Boran, Krabi Krabong and BJJ everyday (also did one boxing class and an mma sparing class). In that time I learnt so much and made some great connections with world class fighters and trainers. I loved the Muay Thai classes, but be warned the fitness requirements for intermediate are not for the faint of heart come prepared and you will be fine. I was worried given some of the reviews but found everyone there very friendly and all the trainers I trained with gave me their attention and coached me. The trick is to communicate, respect the trainers, respect the art and culture and be consistent, shown them you're not just another tourist who isn't focused.
The Muay Boran and krabi classes where the highlight of my time there, whilst they are not as physically demanding (if you do the morning Muay Thai before the Muay Boran and the afternoon session after Krabi you won't be complaining), the krus are very attentive and really focus on your technique. Kru O was the original kru at tiger and is very respected amongst the trainers and staff there. Kru Chris is friendly and is a wealth of knowledge too.
Before Tiger I had done very limited grappling and never done a BJJ class. I did my first BJJ classes ever at Tiger and loved both gi and no gi classes. The instructors are top quality, I had Joseph Hemle as my instructor during my time there and Alex Schild and they were great. Since coming back to Australia I have been rolling with other BJJ people and have been able to apply everything I learnt surprising a few people when i told them I only did 8 classes at Tiger. The first hr of bjj is technique and the second hr is rolling. Many of the people there are blue belt and above but everyone is friendly and there to help you learn.
The western boxing classes were also very good. I would have done more but my days were all packed.
If you go, I also recommend doing the run!
My wife took private lessons in MT as she comes from a grappling background and found the beginners class good and the one on one with kru lighting teep great!
Things to be aware of though are that it is Thailand so keep hydrated, you sweat heaps. Stay for the BBQ beatdown its fun to cheer on your training partners. If you need to buy gear there is a great fight store opposite floraville not far from the camp. Food at Tiger Grill is good but pricey, Thai Thai down the road is awesome if you want cheap and easy Thai food.
I highly recommend this place. It might be a pricier option but the facilities are great, toilets and mats clean and the coaches and community are cool but absolute beasts. I will be back.
One of the best destination gym in Thailand. I went to Phuket to meet an old friend. She was having classes there for almost two months! I asked what's holding you there? Then I went there and got the answer by experiencing the environment. I've attended a few classes there. It's a cool place to meet some people, get yourself fit. Another thing i like about that place is food , you can get healthy meal there and the whole area is full of healthy food.
Excellent Muay Thai Training for All Levels!
With a background in combat sports, but being new to Muay Thai, I found Tiger to be suitable for my beginner level and able to scale well with those who want to advance in the martial art. From UFC all-stars to local Thai legends to overweight tourists, all can get a good workout and have a great time at Tiger Muay Thai - highly recommended!
Class size to large. No coaching. Classes run poorly. Bad place to try improve your skills.
Attended a Crossfit class. Very Dissapointing. Equipment is almost un usable, rusted, old, dirty.. Very dangerous.
Programming and coaching need alot of help.
You would think the amount of money this place has it would be alot better.
I'm sure the muay thai is great! But the Crossfit needs alot of work and a big makeover.
Very bad training at beginnerlevel and intermediate.just let people doing stupid things for 1 our and trainers think they are funny.
Maybe good for profighters but to me it was the worst training i ever had in 20 years!!!
They dare to charge 535 baht for this.
Its a complete joke and my advise is go to another gym.
Tiger is just a factory to earn money.
Best place - we are so happy to be here. Come in shape !!
the best in phuket
super modern, large spaces, quality teachers, many students, good food, nice rooms for all budgets, large varieties of courses ........
if it's your first time at phuket, do not hesitate to go crazy you will not be disappointed: top 1

ONE OF THE BEST PLACES FOR TRAINING AND FITNESS IN PHUKET THAILAND.I RECOMMEND.
This place is litually a fraud. Only good for pro fighters. Otherwise ridicully expensive and the manager is not friendly at all. This is a trap for tourists.
Very cool place...zuba was training there for his UFC fight ....man I am ealso coming.......
Spent a whole month training at Tiger. One of the best vacations I ever had. The place is run by professional instructors, classes are beneficial, definetly a good place to lose weight level up in all types martial arts Bjj MT, highly recomend the western Boxing with Sam. Good healty resturants down the Road. Plenty of accomodations walking distance. Fairly priced with all these classes. I recommend it for everyone. Suits all levels. You will feel very sad when you leave, never can have enough of this place!
One of the coach in fundamental Muay Thai class was unserious and impatient. That day my body was not in the good condition and got injuries so I controlled my muscle with slow movement, then he came for me and asked me with exaggerative tone of sarcasm :"what are you doing?", then I told him my situation, he said :"it's up to you". Yes, it may sounds not a big deal, BUT, when compares with other coach, who taught me how to do it was conducive for my injury(happened just a few minutes after the previous one), the differences between the coaches are intuitively obvious! The way he talked with you was not teaching you, instead, venting his personal angry feelings on you, totally destroyed your good mood for training. I acknowledge that my learning ability is not as good as most of others, but the Muay Thai class was not compulsory education, I came there on my own will, everyone there was making the effort to do it well! At the very least, I PAID and I am CUSTOMER, who gives you the right to unleashed your anger upon me? Your attitude was Disgusting! I talked with him after the class, but he couldn't understand me well, just repeated:"it's up to you", then I talked with the staff in the reception. Finally, thanks to all the coaches in the class Ambush 360, you are all awesome!
Came here to videotape my CrossFit Games Open WOD 13.1. The trainers were awesome and very accommodating, the vibe of the compound was very cool, and the food we ate afterwards at the on-sight grill was excellent. Be sure and try the PB & banana smoothie.... definitely "yum yum". Had a great workout, ate good food, and met some cool people... an excellent experience.
Best training camp for Muay Thai / Boran, and fitness that one can imagine. Outstanding training schedules, trainers, concepts, services and anything else you can think of...it doesn't matter if your a beginner or expert, or if your goal is to practice a bit or go hard on training neither does it matter if you are in great shape, overweight, small, big, tall, or anything else. Tiger Team will take care an support you. I cannot understand all the bad or average reviews on the net at all. I decided to take the risk and try it on my own. No regrets!!! Perhaps all the previous average or poor rated reviews were exceptions or something else was wrong. I was 3 weeks in Tiger and did 6 hours training a day, private classes included and had several chats with customers that were there already for months - the feedback was in every case off the charts! - I can confirm this and for sure I'll return back again! Highly recommended to everyone who is interested in having an active vacation, try some fitness or Muay Thai, go hard for Training, or does have specific ideas what to achieve...just ask at Tiger Muay Thai for support and how to achieve your goals/ideas the best way. Write an Email to them, or if you are already in Phuket just visit them and ask. They'll help you find the right program for you. Again it doesn't matter if your goal is to loose weight, improve your striking, ground fighting, gain some muscles, they'll have the right solution to your ideas. Thanks again to the Tiger Team for one of my best vacations ever and greetings to all the friends I've made and to the trainers Toni, Oron, Chris and Kru Oh.
Great workouts, usually in the morning. You will need a deposit, baht, the keys to the bike or phone, you need to bandage your own, you can buy it there. What can I say, Tiger.
I will remove my bad reviews once I recieve my refund
The best around for fitness, maybe some better for personalised MMA and Muay Thai
We always had a good time at Tiger Muay Thai. The whole lifestyle in Chalong is nice. Just training, beach and health food.
The best Thai boxing camp in Phuket, and possibly all over Thailand! At least for farangs. A huge territory, excellent coaches, some of them from the former USSR, are halls for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In the hall, the active fighters of the MMA are constantly training, among the regular guests of Valentina Shevchenko. Given all the advantages, the price is very good. Somewhat far from the stormy beach life, but if you come to do it - it's even a plus!
Gets the job done. Largest camp in Thailand and no personal touch. Muay Thai/MMA and fitness
Was over in june for some private sessions. Was the best experience in my life. Been involved with thai for 15yrs, seen many a good trainer's/ fighters, but chok chai was exceptional. Thanks for a brilliant experience. Will be back.!
Best place for training muay Thai! I trained there 1 month.
I was only able to train their in April, but they were closed last minute for that month amd unable to providetheir service, I pre paid 50,000 baht and they are refusing to give my money back.
I spent two weeks in Chalong I trained Muay Thai everyday except for Sunday. I am a beginner 3 months training. Before that though I have western boxed and tae kwon do for years as a kid. This place is unreal so big. Great fitness classes mma yoga etc. the food there is fantastic as well. I had personal training with a couple different Muay Thai trainers as well that really helped with basic technique. Most of all they make it really fun and safe, my wife and daughter trained they loved it. I m 50 years old and going back next year for 3 weeks. Any bad reviews about this place is most likely coming from spoiled Americans who need to be catered to every second.(I m American). Do yourself a favor and go to Tiger enjoy and train hard you will be surprised at what you can achieve.
Without sounding hateful but I m going to spit some facts-new appointed trainer John (an mma guy who has resume that s more pathetic than some of the fighters he has beaten)have him training people (I m a seasoned boxer with a 12-0 amateur record and a 9-0 professional resume nothing spectacular but hoping to fight for nsw title and Australian title)this guy is pathetic a guy that cuts weight to fight easier opponents and hangs with UFC guys like he s a groupy,John is known for being a ufc groupy .
He has accomplished nothing in mma a fighter who should be fighting in his own weight class cuts weight for easier fights and now has leeched on to Joey No Angles trains every day at the gym yet had the Physique of someone who never stepped into a gym if you want to go to a serious fight gym to train go to CHANG MAI.
If John was in boxing he would be whooped everyfight that glass jaw been tested and shattered twice hiding in the mma world MITCHEL YOUR A FRAUD and if I ever return to Thailand I ll call you out for a boxing pro fight until then I m situated in Vegas perpearirng.
JR DOWNUNDER MORE LIKE JR DOWNSYNDROME AND Joey no angles!
Turned a fight gym into a joke
Very nice gym and good trainer. But the woman from the reception with the brace is soooo unfriendly.... Please fire her... She has to work at mc donalds
Everything is very bad, boorish staff, in the store - they do not give out a purchase receipt, prices do not indicate, they refuse to return money for goods of inadequate quality.
I highly do not recommend this institution!
Good facility, well equipped but it's not an authentic thai gym. Feels more like a fitness club where they treat you as an ATM. I'm an intermediate level and my trainer was okay, however it was second training for my brother (after Yokkao) and instructor was so bad as he could be. No learning skills, checking his phone every 10min, screaming "power" to the beginner don't make him better right? They need to spend more effort on technique and be more engage. Day after we went to another gym just 500m away and it was much better.
In general, the training is good. But for lunch, there are not so many vegetarian dishes. My hotel was far away, I recommend everybody to look for a room at the camp or the floraville hostel. I wanted to book it first, but then decided to book with tiger. I was there for a month.
I won't do it again, meals are too small and staff at the kitchen dont understand english.
Addition: They now have a card with a lot of vegetarian meals, very good! :D
5 Star all the away, amazing training and makes you feel part of the family!!
Have been twice to Tiger Muay Thai and both times have been amazing and learnt so much from the Coach's and Guests there, the great thing about training here is the family like feeling you get from everyone around you.
The camp is very clean and professional and all the Coach's want to push you to your best (you came to Thailand to train in their national sport so be respectful and show passion and enthusiasm) the staff are always there to help and want to make your stay the best.
Bar and Grill offer a great selection of food all day and also a great place to meet people and hang out.
The accommodation is up to scratch and there are a range of rooms to choose from which cover all types of budget.
Thank you Tiger Muay Thai for the amazing training and the experience
Excellent place to train, very good coaches and very good infrastructure.
Great place to train. 3 full days of training with some of the best Muay Thai coaches in Thailand. Really good facilities - just that it can get really quite busy because they are famous gym!
I trained at Tiger Muay Thai for 2 months back in the fall of 2011. It was an amazing experience and I met some really good people there. If you're on the fence about getting over there, just get your plane ticket and go. You won't regret it.
Trained here for many months. I absolutely enjoyed the staff, the trainers and my fellow fighters whom I was able to train with from around the world. The gyms along the Soi Ta-ied are some of the top in the world, and the students and trainers from Tiger Muay Thai are definitely examples of this way of life. They happen to be the first training center that opened on this street long ago, and have created the most popular Muay Thai Training Street in all of Thailand. They work with all levels and will ensure to test you to advance to other areas depending upon your experience level. While I did not stay at the dorms, I found that other off location places had a better price. Some wish to be there for convenience and that is okay. They also started upgrading towards the end of last year and it's fantastic. Every end of the month they have BBQ Beatdown which is matches with the students and a big BBQ social a lot of people come to from all around. Great way to connect and socialize, they also offer tours to pretty much anywhere around the island. Their food is also incredible, but more pricey then other locations on the street.
Muay Thai coaches are not very experienced and not good in English . If you ask more questions they don't understand and just force you to follow without knowing the real situation. The BJJ coach who looks like south American or Brazilian is very lazy, usually only help with pretty white girls and not provide comments to students and teach real things . Facilities are not very clean and the sound from the gym area (the coach will turn volumes to the highest ) will probably not allow you to rest from 8 am to 3 pm.
Been using Tiger Muay Thai Camp for the last 12 Months they offer the best MMA training in Phuket, they have a full range of fitness activities from Yoga, Cross Fit, MMA, BJJ & weight training available.
Private and mixed classes run Daily, good food on site.
Social events not to be missed are the Monthly BBQ night that runs the last Saturday of the month buy tour ticket in advance for a great night of Muay thai and MMA Fights, a Disco follow...
If you are visiting Phuket for Muay Thai or MMA don't go anywhere other than Tiger
I used these reviews on here before I made my decision to come as I had a bad experience in February at a different camp in another part of Thailand. I only booked for 10 days for myself and my nephew I m 42 and he is 17 so there is a big gap in age and ability but this place is fantastic the facilities are great the instructors are polite patient and very professional. The whole road it is situated on is build around healthy eating and fitness we have extended our stay and really looking forward to the barbecue tonight I ve already noticed a massive change in my overal physical and mental wellness . We have extended for a month so for anyone who genuinely wants to work hard and change there life then this is with out doupt the place to come .
Please change the ladies at the front desk. Rude, condescending, and money hungry.
##PRO##
I've been at the gym for two weeks and most of the classes are good, especially Western Boxing, Crossfit, budha run and beach activity.
The accommodation (Camp 4 - Deluxe ) was fine, a little hard to sleep on the mattress but besides that everything clean and easy to meet new people.
Pick-Up from and to the airport worked well. Facilities are clean and semi-modern.
##CON##
FRONT DESK: I'm working in consulting so I'm travelling a lot and I have to say that part of the front desk, tiger shop and grill were one of the most unfriendliest and unprofessional staff I've every encountered. They have accused me of lying, showed disrespectful behavior and in general were not helpful at all. There were a few ladies who were helpful, but the general experience was very BAD. Unfortunately I didn't ask for their names, as I was in holidays and didn't want to deal with that bullsh*t, but this experience really puts me off visiting TMT again (unfortunately).
MEAL: I have booked the DELUXE package so I was expecting the pre-charged card would cover brekfast, lunch and dinner. The card is charged with 3000 bahts meaning around 420 bahts a day for 3 meals. If you'll take a look at the prices at Tiger Grill you will see that this is not enough. Proper healthy lunch alone will cost you at least 300 bahts and if you'll order a healthy bowl something around 400 including drinks so you'd need at least 800 bahts a day to eat properly if you'll keep it low in the morning and evening. At the end, you are forced to recharge your card or eat somewhere else where it's cheaper. I felt scammed.
Muay Thai Begginer classes: Not really something super awful but the trainers are focused on the ladies and rarely helped the men out. The coaches were trying to upsell wherever possible (tickets for fights, privat lessons etc) and if they felt you are not interested, you'll end being ignored.
In general those are some very easy to solve issues which are having a huge impact, so I hope management work on them.
A very large gym with high-quality equipment and strong coaches, but not the strongest team in Phuket!
Avoid the restaurant, it's expensive and poor quality.. There are plenty of much better options along the strip
Very good facilities and trainers. Overall I had a good experience, except it was dampened at the end when my friend and I found out we had a 9800 Baht PT card each attached to our paperwork when we were checking out. We weren't aware that was part of our package (which I will take some blame for not clarifying what's included in our package, however from the email we received, PT wasn't mentioned); we weren't made aware of it when we were checking in. I'm not sure why it wasn't given to us at check-in when we received our meal card and other things at that time, and we received no instruction to return to pick up such PT card. Because I wasn't aware of this card I was paying separately for PT sessions. I asked for a refund but they refused. Not very happy with the customer service provided.
Did mainly personal training with a trainer named SOM, she is the best trainer I've ever had, she gave me nutrition advice, every session we did was something new, she pushed me beyond my limits and lost a huge amount of weigh over the weeks, I was there, if your going to have a personal trainer then use Som, I will defently be coming back to train again.
Hmmm.... I ve been going to tiger for the past six years and like the whole of Phuket it has changed and not necessarily for the better. Once upon a time you would go there a learn a lot of solid practical basics and one could develop as a More
The place has turned into s joke, was here for 5 days I can say this is s crossfit Gym for mma groupies (like J.Mitchel) go to a serious fight gym.
Best mma / must this facility in Thailand, has everything you need. The Biggest and the best :)
legit gym. beach fitness class is intense. very popular and crowded. if you're looking for some close attention go with privates(nil is great) or find a smaller gym. food at cafe is good. no real shower/locker situation though
Both Tiger Muay Thai and Top team down the road are excellent training camps...although Topteam being smaller seems to give a little bit of a more personal experience...
WARNING: there are many small guest houses in the area...the one named "2HOME" is definately NOT RECOMENDED!!!!...
Really unfriendly owner...total ripoff!!!
I'm thinking this place probably has good training for professional fighters. Or provides a great experience for those who are brand spanking new to the sport or just straight up tourists. I have practice Muay Thai for about 3 years and decided to take the intermediate class.. it was conditioning more than anything. Didn't go over techniques, and no pad work at all. I still got a great sweat in, but it's either I should've took the advanced class or this is just how the classes are.
Since our arrival training every day with personal coach despite the language barrier we understand the magnificent complex of very great champion are very affordable price to not missed under any circumstances even for beginners
Unforgettable awesome experience. Although the price is a bit high, but if you are so energetic to attend as much as you can,
It will pay off.
I managed a gym and worked in the fitness industry. I have to say that you should do something about your customer service at your facility.
My partner and I came in to consult about our options. We re were shocked how the two ladies at the counter were very rude and unwelcoming. One didn t even bother looking up at us sitting on her phone. At least one of them spoke to us, but still she managed to offend us saying can just read if you want , she was so frustrated and her body language was telling us she is not interested. We left.
The next day we came back to talk to the ladies, and luckily we got some answers. We signed up for a week only to the find out that it s only 5 days of training due to holidays.
After we signed up, we proceeded to the weights room where we were greeted by a guy with a moustache, basically accused my girlfriend of lying, then made some cheeky remarks. I just brushed it off and told my partner to not worry. I had set up my station to workout multiple times, but the same guy who was working there decided to train and just kept moving my equipment. Told me to remove my equipment and just go to monkey around at the CrossFit instead. And here I was thinking this facility was great. Yes it had some wonderful equipment and different set up. However, this place is a concrete soulless place without good people. Do something about it!
For my 40th birthday the wife and I came to train at Tiger. As someone who spends a lot of time in the office I was a little intimidated to be honest to start with, but the coaches were great, the beginner classes had all shapes and sizes of people from all different nationalities. The facilities are clean, and we'll organised. Even if you don't book online you can sort out a lot of details after you arrive. I had personal training with a wonderful coach called ChokChai, a quiet smaller Thai man who was an ex champion in Muay Thai and boxing.
We rented a car to get around, but most people rented bikes. There are healthy (!!) Restaurants in the neighbourhood as well. If you're thinking about it, and you're a beginner, give it a shot. It was certainly a big experience for me!
Great place to train, the team rnk luta livre was present on the place.
Gigantic biggest camp in Phuket a lot of people but a lot of space really very beautiful camps we took a private session for two with two coaches they were really top mine BIRD excellent with me I come back December to train with him
It was ok but I definitely won't be training here again. The classes were good and I had some really good trainers in the advanced class but I could tell they were making fun of all the foreigners which upset me quite a bit. Because there are so many people you end up just feeling like a number passing through. The level of service is not there. I'll be training at Dragon Muay Thai in November and I've read some really great reviews about it. Thanks Tiger but never again.
Been coming to this camp for the last 6 years if my life, I try and make it out ever year from a month to sometimes 6. I have etrained alover the Soi and there are many great places but Tiger stands out with excellent customer service, an all rounded team of fighter ready to teach you who all seasoned pros. I was lucky enough to be stuck in Thailand in Chalong from March till August. Not only did Tiger give out 2 weeks of corssfit when it was aowed to open again they also lowered their prices (thier prices range from 12-17,000 a month extremely worth it with what you get out of it) but they where offered for the month 4,000 baht. We have all been slowly running out of funds so for them to this helped alot of people to still be able to train. Us I met a few of my hero's in UFC
If you want to follow me more on my travels I'm always posting new content on my IG Theseaword90
Great coaches and atmosphere! Can't wait to go back!
Such an amazing experience. This is by far one of the best martial arts gym, if not the best gym in the world. I was very impressed with the versatility that the gym offers catering to the needs and interest of the consumer - they offer kickboxing, muay thai, boxing, crossfit and many more. Their lucrative programs are offered in packages, all of which are incorporated in different price points, creating $ options for various consumption levels. Their programs are solid which are commenced under the direction of experienced cerebral practitioners that have an extensive background in the specified sport that they specialize in. I also like the fact that gym is both organized and clean. Like any other gyms, there are coaches that are nonchalant but there are many coaches or Kru that are very courteous, friendly and cultivate a welcoming atmosphere. My wife and I were both very fond of Kru Chokchai who took interest with us and ensured we were well taken care of. We also admired the kindness and the attention to detail that kru Sitpalan & Kru Phutt offered. The big buddah run and beach workouts were a refreshing disruptor that also allowed to be outdoors and enjoy the spectacular views. We will definitely come back to this gym
So let's start with the positive. The MMA training is super structured, the trainers are motivated to look at details. The same goes for Alex's BJJ training and Sam's boxing training. Some of the trainers came to me after the training and talked to me about what I could do differently.
So now for the negative, the Muay Thai training. I signed up for the intermediate training because I didn't want to overestimate myself in Thai boxing even though I already have MMA and boxing matches. Unfortunately the class was completely overcrowded and there were people who, in my opinion, belong completely to the beginner course. In my opinion the coaches are totally overwhelmed by the too big classes.
When the coaches showed me the punch cushions, it was my turn ... I started with light clicks until we thought I should kick harder ... so I did that ... he said this again and again. So I stepped right so that he slapped his own hands in the face. It didn't go down well and apparently went against his honor. From then on they made me beat everything twice as long and kicked back what developed more into a sparring while alternating. The others sat outside and laughed at me and tried to ridicule me in front of the class. This went on until a trainer who was a little bit apart stepped in and took me aside and did the rest of the training just with me.
It was good hard training for me but in my opinion it wasn't the right course of action. I was so annoyed that I deducted 2 stars.
Which wasn't that cool either. Was there a lot of fighters, especially in the professional MMA sparring, who think they don't have to follow the rules. If it says no elbows in the sparring and no backhand then you should stick to it. But the tiger can't help it.
Amazing place. Great for beginners and experts alike. Come for a month
Great MMA training center, the instructors are organized and very professional ! They also offer a large variety of fitness classes !
After a lesser experience, this was a perfect training centre on Phuket. Trainers were very punctual and friendly. Very good Muay Thai camp.
After five days of training I was diagnosed with Epidemic Keratoconjunctivitis (EKC). It is a contagious eye infection, often referred to as viral conjunctivitis. EKC is an inflammation of the cornea and conjunctiva, making it the worst form of pink eye. (In pink eye or conjunctivitis, only the conjunctiva is inflamed.) This was likely caused by interacting with the mats, equipment, or other students, and it means I literally got fecal matter or a virus in my eye, indicative of disgusting facilities. This has been confirmed by others attending training that pink eye was going around. It is highly contagious and can last as long as a month. I am out of work and on quarantine until this clears up. Very embarrassing as I am in the army and walk around with a communicable disease.
Hygiene of some those training is disgusting. Trainees are not screened for illnesses, this should happen before very class by a nurse. Yes the mats are cleaned after every class, but this does not help common areas, or interacting with the students. There are cats and dogs all over this facility, which can rampantly endemic diseases.
Tiger Muay Thai stated that they cannot control what students bring in to the area and denied to take any action like shutting down training. decontaminating the facility and screening students. Basically, they are only worried about $$$
Phuket is a petri dish of bacteria and viruses from people from around the world- normal sanitation (which isn t even followed) is NOT enough for facilities.
To fix this issue, students should be required to bathe with antibacterial soap before and after attending class. Mats should be bleached immediately after every class, including the seating areas which I did not observe being cleaned. A medical professional should screen all students before class begins for signs of pink eye, MRSA, rashes.
More serious protocols should be observed. But again, tiger will not take these steps because it costs $ and isn t cool . Think about this before spending hundreds and thousands of dollars to expose yourself to dangerous diseases. You could lose your job from time missed.
I have been im Training camps and locations all over Asia and this is definitely one of the best Organized, Fair Priced and amazing Places to go to.
Check out the Website you can Find it all!
Cleaned mats and equipment every day multiple times. Capable and amazing. Instructors in all Martialarts and sport sections and a Nice giftshop as well as good balanced nutrition on site in the Tigergrill restaurant.
Coming again soon, even if just for Steven Cooper as Headcoach BJJ *_*
Nice coach and clean training place but if you want cheap food choose Tony s restaurant nearby tiger
Great equipment and nice trainers, but more expensive than all other studios in the area
Very professional trainers, large choice of trainings, the ambiance is friendly and pleasant, correct prices and their restaurant is really good:). I will surely come back to train in Tiger.
Big social community and great selection of classes for beginners & intermediate. For those just starting your fitness journey just be careful not to burn yourselves out on your first week as you'll want to try everything :)
Cool atmosphere, trainers are knowledgeable. 1&1 Sessions are very good with most trainers we tried.
NoGi was solid. Wrestling and MMA technique also very good.
Muay Thai Advanced classes rarely take place.
MT Intermediate classes have basically no technique, just nonsense Conditioning, like throwing straight punches for 30 min.
In my opinion classes aren't worth it.
I have been training Muay Thai for some time and have already visited and trained in many camps in Thailand.
I have to say that the tiger is quite professional, the equipment and furnishings are probably the same in all of Thailand.
Since I did not want to lean too far out of the window, I trained in the intermediate class, for people who are more experienced or fitter should rather go into the advanced class. I've been training for a week now and quickly got into shape had a few sparrings where I cracked my rib. I'm still training.
Today I had a sparring with a trainer who gave me a high kick and I held his leg tight, trying to pull his leg away. He did this 3 times until he was lying on the floor. He felt attacked in his person and then quickly turned serious from a sparring. The problem was that I had the feeling that it was not particularly well received by all the coaches that I brought one of them to the ground. The matter became so serious that I had to ask to get another training partner because my rib was no longer taken into account.
Well, I apologized to him after training and gave 100 THB in my hand. That was how it was eaten.
Then I went back to training at 3 p.m. where I had a sparring with one of the group who was lying on the ground after a short time (we do martial arts because it means falling down or having a broken lip) ), the training partner did not take this personally and continued relaxed. (I also apologized to him, as I said, everything was fine). The coaches didn't think that so well. So that a trainer stood behind me and indicated to my sparring partner to hit me on the rib. What he didn't do.
What I want to say here is:
I didn't want to hurt or insult anyone and have never seen anything like this in the whole time I have been training, or have ever let it get this far.
Usually it is so that you apologize briefly and the thing is eaten. (I cracked my rib and with a handshake the topic was through). Especially when nobody has been injured. But for injury in the ego I can not do anything and if it goes so far that you really try to harm a person then quickly becomes serious out of fun. And I don't think it has to go that far.
I say make your own picture of the tiger. But I'm definitely in another studio from Monday.
Visiting thailand for the first time I wanted to check out a few muay thai gyms. Tiger muay thai would be my third one on one session during my trip and it was by far the worst mitt session I've ever had in my life. First of all the trainer they paired me up with reeked of alcohol. He had no idea how to hold mitts and he moved slower than a snail. I'm not sure if the other trainers are any better but from my experience I cannot recommend this place. Superpro on Koh Samui was outstanding!!
I bought the all inclusive package, for starters the meal vouchers won't last the period of time they allocate for you so budget to spend more but don't get them everywhere down the street is half the price of tiger grill. They housed me at family house bungalows. If they select this place for you reject it outright. I had 20,000 baht stolen from my room and someone else had $800 stolen, only to be accused of blowing the money in Patong when neither of us have been there. So don't plan on getting your money back. The aircon and Tv don't work and no one seems to want to fix it. Tiger Muay Thai accept no responsibility for what happens in the place they choose to house you and looked kind of bored with the discussion as though it was a regular occurrence. But the instructors make up or it the fitness training is outstanding, Muay Thai is good but it's better back home, Muay boran makes it I can't speak highly enough about the two instructors for it they will break down the finer details of your technique and make you think about fighting differently. But I wouldn't go back the 20,000 baht loss with no accountability is unacceptable. Do not stay at family house bungalows.
