Great fun! Really well done in current situation. Genuinely quite scary!
We had a great time. I've lived in York for over 10 years and this was my first visit! I enjoyed that we were involved in the goings on.. almost everyone in our little group (made up of about 10 tourists/locals/us) was asked to take part at some point. The different areas were very well put together and actors were great!
Loved it. The husband was chosen in nearly every room (probably because he was tall or maybe the ginger hair). They made facts fun to learn
I enjoyed every minute at the York Dungeons. Great fun
Was my second visit but this one was over 18's only. Was an amazing night would definitely do it again.
Brilliant inter active attraction. Excellent actors, brilliant set's, a memorable visit from a while ago.xxx
Absolutely brilliant place to go had a great laugh, don't think kids under 12should go in ,had a crying child on my tour ,it's quite scary in places, actors were fantastic, they do a brilliant job
Great interactive experience. All actors were amazing and such a laugh. Never laughed so much while being disembowled, LOL
What a laugh ,folk in here make sure you enjoy your experience, everyone playing their part, lot's of screeming can be very dark ,but it works fine for me. adds to excitement. Well worth it
Worth the money, great laugh with some fantastic actors!
Absolutely brilliant. The characters were first class
Great fun with brilliant actors. We went as a large group and had a blast. Top attraction.
It's not that much good that it is hyped.. but it's ok ok place.
Myself and my girlfriend had a truly wonderful time; I would recommend it to anyone! Loved the interactive actors and I feel they are all giving 100%, absolutely stunning!
What can i say ... brilliant fun!!!
Actors are great and obviously love their jobs as they really get into their characters while interacting with all of the group. They know how to use sudden noises and expressions to really set the tone. And the dungeon uses sounds, smell, lighting and the odd spattering of water to produce a really immersive experience.
Great for all ages (my youngest is 7) as long as they are not too nervous, and adults are kept entertained with plenty of adult jokes that go over the kids heads. There are also lots of funny things in each of the scenes to spot if you keep your eyes peeled, and if your kids enjoy horrible histories they will love this.
Wheel chair users are accommodated for but will need to transfer onto stair lifts and have someone lift the chair up, but staff are very accommodating.
The staff will pick out people to interact with the scene, but go with it and even get involved it just makes the tour that much better.
York Dungeons is not as big as the London Dungeons but is well worth the visit
Great fun. A lot better than what I expected, lasted a little shorter than stated on the website but we'll worth the money!
Great fun! The staff work extremely hard and make it well worth the visit.
A real surprise experience as I have not read any comment about this place before. A real fun.
A great way to spend an hour and a quarter. ...well presented and what a laugh. ...loved it
A great day out! We went for my mother-in-law s 50th. The cast pulled out all the stops to make sure she was involved in the action as we went round.
You learn a great deal about the history of York throughout the experience but it s delivered in a fun way.
It strikes a great balance between amusing, informative and spooky. Probably wouldn t be suitable for kids under 10.
Brilliant. Loved the actors and the atmosphere. A real good laugh.
Very entertaining attraction. Everything takes place inside of the main building, so it's a good place to visit when the weather is inclement. The staff / actors, are very much into their roles, & include the guests during every aspect of your visit. There are a few surprises along the way, & everybody is encouraged to join in on the fun. Best to book ahead, as the site can only have so many guests at once. Good selection of gifts in the gift shop, which relate strongly to the areas inside of the Dungeons.
Decided to visit here while we were in York and we loved it. Informative and fun! The guys put on a great show with some good jump scares but won't give anything away. Hoping to come back with the kids to see if they like it as much as we did. Thanks for a fun afternoon keep up the good work
OMG what a great experience I ended up in the Dock so funny
Loved it! Didn't know what to expect to be honest but enjoyed it so much
Despite being in the grip of the COVID pandemic we still found the York Dungeons well worth a visit. Humorous and informative!
Very dark. If your sight is not so good, you will suffer. If English is not your first language, the players accent is difficult to understand.
Fantastic experience. Jump scares, history and comedy. A work of genius!
I didint think it was gd the thing that made us laugh was company we were with I would defo not recommend going to anyone rubbish
Well worth a visit, the staff add to your experience too.
Really enjoyed the dungeon.better than I expected.reakly polished performances by the actors
Fantastic attraction. Was a lot of fun and the actors were brilliant. My girlfriend's 11 year old said she was too scared to go in but at the end she said she loved it!
Well worth the visit. Small groups at a time and well organised.
Loved the actors and the interaction. A hour of good fun, maybe a little scary for young children.
Fabulous experience! Absolutely loved it. The characters were brilliant and engaging. Would definitely recommend
Good fun. Bit of a long wait but worth it. Some actors and 'scenes' a bit weak. Still, a good way to spend an hour when visiting York.
Went last weekend and had a great time, worth every penny, and would do it again.
Audience participation involved gruesome activities that panicked some children in the room
Really fun, could tell the staff enjoyed their roles. Extremely interactive and fun. Great for kids and adults alike.
A Great fun way to experience and learn about history. history.
The York Dungeons was amazing. The acting was phenomenal and would highly recomend to anyone that like mild scary/jumping actors.
Fantastic experience, went around lunch on a weekday in term time so no queue at all. Every room was brilliantly funny, will definitely recommend to anyone visiting York.
A laxative from Boots or any other chemist would be cheaper, But not as much fun . There is something in the human mind that enjoys being scared and watching others jump with fear.
All the actors do a cracking job to make your tour enjoyable?. This is a good 45 minute (if not more) tour and well worth the money.
While this is a listed building they have gone out of their way to make it as accessible as possible and for as many people as possible.
Wheelchair users are welcome and assistance is available, just ask . Wheelchair toilets are situated at the enterance, ask a member of staff for exact directions.
The attraction has a very good cafe called "The Rat Cafe" and it thoughtfully sell alcoholic beverages .
Good sovineer shop selling themed items but no dedicated car park.
I had a great time and I am sure you will to, if you dare .
18+ experience wow such a laugh and a few jumps along the way worth the money high recommend going
Brilliant time, mind you dont turn white as a ghost when they jump out at you hahah
This is a succession of seven or eight rooms that take you through York s history. Each room has their own ambiance and actor. Overall good and terrifying experience, as advertised.
Such a fab experience to go to. Lasts around 75 minutes with actors drawing you into the gruesome history of York!
Superb, good value., very entertaining well worth a visit
Absolutely vital visit if you are into the macabre. If you have visited any of the other dungeons in the UK the basic format will be familiar but the experience itself is truly unique. If you haven't visited a similar attraction before to summarise you are essentially being lead around different rooms by talented actors and actresses into different vignettes that combine a bit of history with live action, special effects and gore. I don't want to spoil any of the surprises so I won't provide further details but I will say as a bit of a horror fan it doesn't disappoint. There was a new addition since my last visit which was easily the spookiest dungeon element I have ever seen. There is a strong element of black humour throughout which is entertaining and also serves to diffuse the tension. Baring in mind you will spend around an hour in this sinister world they have created it is not recommended for anyone who is in any way claustrophobic or of a nervous disposition.
In addition there is a rather nice albeit small replica tavern you can have a drink in afterwards with alcoholic and hot and cold soft drinks and snacks on offer.
There is also a gift shop with suitably gruesome souvenirs to take home.
The best souvenir in my opinion are the photo gifts based on snaps taken of you or your party at the start of the journey. Remember to really go for it with your facial expressions when having your photo taken as this makes the end results much funnier. It's a great way to bring I personalised and unique gift back for family or friends.
Both acting and regular staff were great throughout.
I've been to the one in Blackpool and I've got to say that was better. The end was an anti climax.
Great place kids loved the experience and interaction with actors. Remember to book tickets in advance as it will be a big saving rather than paying at ticket office for a family
Absolutely fantastic. Me and my fiancee really enjoyed ourselves. I love how interactive it is, everyone was picked on. So funny and gory, the actors and actresses were amazing and played their roles amazingly. Definitely worth a visit, yes pricey for a family without any discounts but worth the money I think. Will definitely return.
Not very exciting, a lot of shouting, very dark but not scary enough. Once seen more than enough.
Good fun but not scary. More camp and entertaining.
Loved it! How realistic, scary, gruesome, informative. All rolled into one! The staff were amazing, it really brought history to life. We learnt alot whilst having fun.
Scarry ha ha ha, I asked my wife to accompany the kids
Defintly worth the price. Make sure to book online to get the time slot you want and it's cheaper.
Great place to visit. Staff have excellent knowledge. Visited with a large group and we had great fun.
Great day out and experience with my 13 year old daughter who was frightened out of her wits ... She was either screaming or laughing or both. Enjoy:-(
Great show, very interactive. Not for the easily scared . Expect to wait to get in, unless you buy the VIP pass, which gets you a free guidebook and photo per ticket.
Overall, great fun.
This was amazing and funny a bit scary bit definitely realistic thank you for my great experience to each actor you are all amazing at your job x
Not a great place for young kids, the whole experience of actors insulting members of the public in the name of entertainment doesn't work for me
excellent value. great day out. well worth the money!
I m a fifteen year old boy and I get scared quite easily bc I just do. I really wanted to come and experience it with my friends to see if it was scary. At first we were very terrified because we didn t know what was happening but straight away we came to realise it s not bad at all! It s so fun and amazing and not scary (coming from someone who was once scared of even looking at the dungeons nethermind go in them)
You go through some rooms where actors will tell you stories and have a bit of a laugh and even some mini things like rooms moving or chairs moving and it s defo more fun than scary
