We had a great time. I've lived in York for over 10 years and this was my first visit! I enjoyed that we were involved in the goings on.. almost everyone in our little group (made up of about 10 tourists/locals/us) was asked to take part at some point. The different areas were very well put together and actors were great!

Absolutely brilliant place to go had a great laugh, don't think kids under 12should go in ,had a crying child on my tour ,it's quite scary in places, actors were fantastic, they do a brilliant job

What can i say ... brilliant fun!!!

What can i say ... brilliant fun!!!

Actors are great and obviously love their jobs as they really get into their characters while interacting with all of the group. They know how to use sudden noises and expressions to really set the tone. And the dungeon uses sounds, smell, lighting and the odd spattering of water to produce a really immersive experience.

Great for all ages (my youngest is 7) as long as they are not too nervous, and adults are kept entertained with plenty of adult jokes that go over the kids heads. There are also lots of funny things in each of the scenes to spot if you keep your eyes peeled, and if your kids enjoy horrible histories they will love this.

Wheel chair users are accommodated for but will need to transfer onto stair lifts and have someone lift the chair up, but staff are very accommodating.

The staff will pick out people to interact with the scene, but go with it and even get involved it just makes the tour that much better.

York Dungeons is not as big as the London Dungeons but is well worth the visit

A great day out! We went for my mother-in-law s 50th. The cast pulled out all the stops to make sure she was involved in the action as we went round.
You learn a great deal about the history of York throughout the experience but it s delivered in a fun way.
It strikes a great balance between amusing, informative and spooky. Probably wouldn t be suitable for kids under 10.

Very entertaining attraction. Everything takes place inside of the main building, so it's a good place to visit when the weather is inclement. The staff / actors, are very much into their roles, & include the guests during every aspect of your visit. There are a few surprises along the way, & everybody is encouraged to join in on the fun. Best to book ahead, as the site can only have so many guests at once. Good selection of gifts in the gift shop, which relate strongly to the areas inside of the Dungeons.

Decided to visit here while we were in York and we loved it. Informative and fun! The guys put on a great show with some good jump scares but won't give anything away. Hoping to come back with the kids to see if they like it as much as we did. Thanks for a fun afternoon keep up the good work

A laxative from Boots or any other chemist would be cheaper, But not as much fun . There is something in the human mind that enjoys being scared and watching others jump with fear.
All the actors do a cracking job to make your tour enjoyable?. This is a good 45 minute (if not more) tour and well worth the money.

While this is a listed building they have gone out of their way to make it as accessible as possible and for as many people as possible.
Wheelchair users are welcome and assistance is available, just ask . Wheelchair toilets are situated at the enterance, ask a member of staff for exact directions.

The attraction has a very good cafe called "The Rat Cafe" and it thoughtfully sell alcoholic beverages .
Good sovineer shop selling themed items but no dedicated car park.
I had a great time and I am sure you will to, if you dare .

Absolutely vital visit if you are into the macabre. If you have visited any of the other dungeons in the UK the basic format will be familiar but the experience itself is truly unique. If you haven't visited a similar attraction before to summarise you are essentially being lead around different rooms by talented actors and actresses into different vignettes that combine a bit of history with live action, special effects and gore. I don't want to spoil any of the surprises so I won't provide further details but I will say as a bit of a horror fan it doesn't disappoint. There was a new addition since my last visit which was easily the spookiest dungeon element I have ever seen. There is a strong element of black humour throughout which is entertaining and also serves to diffuse the tension. Baring in mind you will spend around an hour in this sinister world they have created it is not recommended for anyone who is in any way claustrophobic or of a nervous disposition.

In addition there is a rather nice albeit small replica tavern you can have a drink in afterwards with alcoholic and hot and cold soft drinks and snacks on offer.
There is also a gift shop with suitably gruesome souvenirs to take home.
The best souvenir in my opinion are the photo gifts based on snaps taken of you or your party at the start of the journey. Remember to really go for it with your facial expressions when having your photo taken as this makes the end results much funnier. It's a great way to bring I personalised and unique gift back for family or friends.
Both acting and regular staff were great throughout.

Absolutely fantastic. Me and my fiancee really enjoyed ourselves. I love how interactive it is, everyone was picked on. So funny and gory, the actors and actresses were amazing and played their roles amazingly. Definitely worth a visit, yes pricey for a family without any discounts but worth the money I think. Will definitely return.

Nice

I m a fifteen year old boy and I get scared quite easily bc I just do. I really wanted to come and experience it with my friends to see if it was scary. At first we were very terrified because we didn t know what was happening but straight away we came to realise it s not bad at all! It s so fun and amazing and not scary (coming from someone who was once scared of even looking at the dungeons nethermind go in them)
You go through some rooms where actors will tell you stories and have a bit of a laugh and even some mini things like rooms moving or chairs moving and it s defo more fun than scary
