We are fans of the Wykeham but today we made the mistake of ordering pastrami sandwich at the bar. It had one slice only of meat, a very poor imitation of what a pastrami sandwich should be, not good value - must try harder Wykeham!

Steeped in history, this olde worlde pub is next to Wykeham College. It's a Fullers pub but also usually carries Goodens Gold from the Cheriton Brewery. Beer is well kept and the food is good too.

However a bit shocked by rudeness of waitress when as a party of 5 we sat in wrong area of pub. This was disappointing as we d not experienced such a poor attitude when we d stayed here before.

Absolutely fantastic pub and the food is outstanding but the girl with black skirt and maroon top on needs some serious training in customer service. Everything was delivered by a sigh and it became the talking point of our meal. The rest of the staff and service was as usual excellent.

We went here for our 5 year anniversary, recommended by a friend. The atmosphere was lovely and cosy and the service was so good. The food was amazing with each course! A really lovely place to go, however only found out when we got there that they had a car park out the back, as we had parked a good walk down the road!

Check into the hotel was an awful experience and was treated as if we were bothering him as we had the dog. We were not given the room planned, again the dog was blamed. This is supposed to be a dog friendly business. When we got to the room it was less then impressive. No toilet paper, water stains and cracks all over the ceiling. We also found a dirty old sock by the desk. So it obviously wasn't cleaned very well. There was not enough tea in the room and milk was not replenished and we needed ask the staff for some. Not very happy at all.

Fantastic food. Good service. Great drinks. Would deffinetly go back for lunch or dinner. Would very much recommend you book tho! Characterful proper pub in historic Winchester. But a step up from your average pub in terms of quality. Not cheap but worth it.

This is a lovely combination of an extremely comfortable hotel and a great local pub/restaurant. Good beer, excellent wines, good food, and exceedingly comfortable and stylish rooms, located close to the cathedral in a quiet backstreet. Very highly recommended. Note however that the weekly council refuse collection occurred at 5.15 on the morning of our stay. The hotel has repeatedly complained about this but occasionally it still happens.

Food was amazing! We were really well looked after by Adam and the rest of the team (who were all rushed off their feet adhering to the new covid restrictions). Beautiful pub, lovely hardworking staff, extremely clear safety measures that didn t spoil the atmosphere and delicious food! Couldn t recommend more!

What a delight this pub is. Much bigger inside than expected. Within an easy walk from the train station. So warm and comfortable. There is a good selection of drinks for all tastes. I would recommend this bar for a good natter with friends More

Ahh... the Wykeham Arms. Like coming home and sinking into a well worn, but particularly comfortable old leather couch. The smell of the wood-smoke, the eclectic mix of antiques and old school furnishings, and great craft ales on offer all combine to create a cosy and friendly atmosphere. They also do pretty delicious food. Especially the Sunday roast beef, which is always a real treat washed down by a couple of glasses of house claret. There's not much else you'd rather be doing on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Interesting and historical. We rented a a room upstairs for a family tea after my mother's burial.
We spent time looking for various relatives names on long past Winchester College year lists.

This pub has a very good reputation, it s nice historic location and pub. For me it s disappointing the food is over price and the attitude of the staff isn t great for what you are paying for. There s lots of better pubs in the UK I experienced.

Nice place, but not child friendly!

Nice place, but not child friendly!
We were not allowed to go to the bar area as it's their "policy" so only eating outside with children is allowed.
My daughter is 12 years old, she didn't need a kids menu, besides nobody from the staff could tell us why she was not allowed.
I like the place, but not your approach to children.
Bishop on the Bridge never questioned us about it.

Comfortable rooms just by the King's Gate into the cathedral. The pub itself has good beer, open fires and a restaurant. Friendly staff. I would stay there again, though note the rooms are up steep stairs so no disabled access at all.

Been here on both of our visits to Winchester, a really excellent unique pub that everyone should visit. Beautiful decor and a warm welcome awaits. Although on my first visit I thought there were more beers, maybe I am getting fussy with age
