Nice enough of a place. Room, spacious. Everything was clean. Interesting view. Elevator was out. TV didn't work (because of a bad connection). The hotel has no parking and does not provide parking compensation. Just a pay Balet service. It is not worth the premium cost to stay at.

All of the staff are helpful, the rooms are comfortable, the internet is decent, and they accommodate dogs. The bed was very comfortable but I found the bathrooms to be kind of small, and without tub. The food at the lounge isn't bad and they have a decent selection of drinks.

Nice hotel, kind of old timey but that's what you might expect.

Beautiful view, great room service breakfast , and friendly staff.

Staying for the weekend, room is great, huge bathtub. One elevator was temporarily down but was inspected and back up in a few hours. Computer access with printing, gym, and great room service breakfast.

Great location. Great bed. Wonderful staff. I will definitely stay there again.

When we arrived Sophie was very welcoming and pleasant, as was the valet attendant.

Our stay was enjoyable, we arrived the day that the Christmas tree and decorations were going up so we sat in the lobby area and enjoyed the smell and atmosphere from the decorations.
Sunday morning we had brunch and had a great server. Unfortunately I do not recall her name but she was the younger of the two that I saw working. She was very nice, friendly, attentive and made 2 really good lattes, and a hot chocolate for my daughter.
Our food was very good, except, my girlfriends French Toast and hasbrowns were cold. The young lady took care of that right away but it was a bit surprising. I believe our food was forgotten in the kitchen area as the table beside us that arrived 15 minutes after we did were eating before us.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

Attended a meeting in one of the conference rooms at the Benson. Gorgeous setting, great service and food. The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable yet professional.

The hotel itself is wonderful but the service and valet was a huge turn off for me therefore the rating of 3 star only.

Opon arriving at the Hotel, the check in was super slow and we requested adjocent rooms when we originally booked but the hotel couldn't offer anywhere through out the hotel even though when most of the hotel was empty.

The rooms were comfortable, but not enough towels and toliteries and had to request 2 times to get them brought up to our room.

The valet parking is almost $40US a night, which is not the problem but the fact the valet asked for tip upon bringing up our car was a turn off, I woukdve gladly given a tip for the service but when you you personally ask for it before even bringing our car to us is a lack of customer service according to me.

Upon check out we were charged a resort fee which we were not made aware of when we checked in and no one explained anything about a resort fee to me, they charge the resort fee for the non existence gym and WiFi Which we didn't even use was a huge disappointment.

A few friend recommends this Hotel to me and that was the reason I booked this place but after my 1st bad experience, don't think I would be staying here again.

We had the best anniversary night here last July!
It was amazing, and the staff was so helpful and Friendly. The bed was so comfy too. They had a gift and note saying happy anniversary waiting for us in the room too. Such an awesome treat great service!

Very nice establishment. I didnt stay the night here however visited for a future conference and got a tour of the venue. Amazing staff and very knowledgeable. I look forward to having our conference in this space.

Historical... great looking hotel.
Foods are great too... i went there for conferences, so did not try their bar... seems they have some very good stuffs there.

Absolutely stunning. Every single aspect of this hotel I enjoyed thoroughly down to even the mattress which supported my body in an oh so rest-filling way.

Great location - close to great food and beer, close to tourist spots, cost top the train. The room is stunning and exceptionally comfortable. It's a 4-star hotel, but I definitely give it 5.

My Internet connection wasn't working properly and that's why you got such a low qualification. I do apologize! Our stay at the hotel was very comfortable and the staff proved to be really polite and highly qualified.

A dignified, nice robby, pleasant response. The room was especially quiet. It's a shame that there is no sound in the hotel.

Nothing dated about this Grand dame of a hotel. From the moment you walk in and have incredible service from Summer at the front desk to Bobby and John in the the restaurant to Lliza that's everywhere and always here, you'll know you're in a special place. Additional note Imperial across the street is pretty tasty.

Didnt stay there was parked across street and witnessed staff get an electric leaf blower and blow trash into middle of street. Instead of just sweeping or picking it up and properly dealing with it. Such disrespect for the community and environment.

Great hotel. Clean, friendly. Not your average hotel.

The Benson's location in the Pearl district of Portland is decent enough for getting around to where you actually want to go. Bus and rail stops are close. The view will be bad, and there will probably be construction, but that's the city for you. No service was requested, but the room was clean, if small.

Great location and service. Staff were outstanding and room was immaculate. Shower and in room facilities were recent renovated and up to date.

The ONLY reason this Hotel gets 4 stars instead of 5 is that its rooms are extremely small. OTHER than that this is a grand dame hotel in the finest sense of the word. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If your visiting Portland and your staying in the city core then I HIGHLY recommend THE BENSON.

Excellent central location in the city, very clean, good amenities, close to public transportation and lots of food options in the area. The free internet in the room is absolute garbage, so plan to use your phone or spring for a high speed option if they have it.

Very centrally located hotel. The room is very spacious, but lacks a closet to store clothes, there is only room for hanging. There is no pricing on things such as crackers or in-room drinks. The Internet code should be called to the special department and upon check-in there may be a flood of irrelevant information. It's also very difficult to get a late check-out.

Beautiful historic hotel in a great part of town. Spacious rooms, however wish had a fridge and a microwave (was only able to locate a minibar). The building itself is pretty old so expect is to be pretty creaky and noisy especially at night for some reason.They do have earplugs in the drawers next to the bed. Make sure to ask for a little fish friend to keep you company- I think that is a great touch!!! Overall pretty pleased with my stay, looking forward to being back.

Look nice on the surface.... But if you really look, There are problems.

If you have an event in town and you have more than 25 people use multiple hotels in this Benson area :-) you can have groups up to 25 and they are ready for you. Masks are served and so is easy walking area. Powell's Books is nearby. Lots of fun to go places like Look Lock. Also Cheryl on 12th for breakfast and lunch and dinner :-)

Overall this hotel was a great choice. It was in a good location and was cheaper than many of the other hotels in the area. The staff was friendly and the valet was quick. I've read other reviews that complained about the wifi or the noise level, but both were fine for me. The only reason I wouldn't give them 5 stars is that the room could have been cleaned a little better. There was some hair around the sink in the bathroom and some small weird stains on the bed sheets that were a little bothersome.

I've stayed here countless times and I love it. The doormen are bent on pleasing at all cost. The breakfast in the morning is excellent and the overall experience is great! I love staying downtown in the center of it all and the Benson is the perfect location and your a cab ride away from everything. I like the old world charm you get from the hotel.

The hotel is very nice. Room and bed were comfortable and location is walking distance to bars, restaurants, and shopping. Would be five stars except the bathroom sink faucet was set too far back making it quite difficult to get your hands under the water. Maybe it was just our room, but kind of an important detail!

Attended an event there and it's beautiful. Was a little surprised by how much duct tape there was though in fixing random things around the building

They let us check in 5 hours early, beautiful high end remodeled room. Friendly employees everywhere.

The location is quite good, very walkable. Bedrooms are nice with queen sized beds and appropriate softness. The overall ambiance is old from the 1900s with old music playing in the elevators.

Very nice lobby and restaurant. Room is basic with nice bed.

Absolutely beautiful love and bar. Just popped in for a quick drink while waiting for friends.

The design and history of this hotel are amazing. Our server for dinner talked to us thru the whole dinner about the history of the hotel. Afterwards we walked the hotel and soaked in the architecture features. My friends stayed here I can't wait to stay here in the future

The Benson was beautiful in the lobby and the room was nice with a great bathtub But they had a bunch of extra charges an amenity charge

The Benson Hotel is a great hotel and place to stay. I live in Portland and at least a couple of times a year my wife and I pack a suitcase and go downtown to stay at the Benson. The Benson staff from arrival to departure make our stay important and fun. We typically stay in a junior suite, go out to dinner with friends and enjoy a morning breakfast at the hotel. Historic hotel in Portland which I highly endorse.

They charged us a $30 amenity fee that wasn't clearly outlined when we booked the hotel. There is no option to opt out and this is charged once you check out of the hotel. There is also and absurdly high fee for parking and they only offer a $10 discount when asked.

Stayed here for two nights for a wedding. The rooms were clean and the mattress was really comfortable. My only complaint is that the elevators are very slow. Sometimes we would wait for over five minutes just to get on the elevator. Other than that, it was a nice place to stay.

Historic location that is in the process of being updated and upgraded. My visit landed in the middle of the renovations and beyond some minor changes to the elevator call system and a table mounted tv in place of the wall mounted unit in my room there wasn't really any disturbance to tip you off. The room was well appointed, very nice mattress and soft sheets. Supplied toiletries were above average. Shower ran strong and hot. Unquestionably a solid option for both the business traveler and those looking for a staycation.

Always a great experience with professional service and an interesting menu. Attention to detail is what sets the Benson apart.

The food was great and the cocktails were good. I was disappointed with the service though. I hadn't been there in a couple of years, but I remember the service was always amazing before.

The housekeeping kept the room very clean during our three day stay. My only complaint about staying here was: 1. The view was terrible. 2. The decorative pillows and decorative blanket at the end of the bed reminded me of a teenage girl's bedroom. They were those fake fur decorative pillows. The blanket was the same style as the pillows. It just looked....off.

The rooms were small but fitted out with modern amenities and conveniences and well styled. If you are used to the accommodations available in other large metropolitan areas or Europe you will feel quite at home and very comfortable here. If you are more accustomed to the Midwest or the American middle class luxury resort all inclusive style of hotel then this will feel very small. Personally, I found it well-appointed and utterly serviceable in every regard. I will even quite happily go the Step Beyond and say that the accommodations were rich, fashionable, and provided every desirable comfort one could hope for. Most impressive to myself, where the sumptuous and period furnishings and elements to be found in the hotel lobby. Built in having been established in 1912 the rugs and Woodwork and Brass work all are evocative of that time. While remaining in every way in purposeful in the setting and in common use every piece of furniture or decoration could easily be actual.. However, much to my happiness, you will not find anything as pretentious as a French silk embroidered chaise lounge that has been roped off so that people do not actually make use of the furniture. Hell yes sit your butt down on that leopard fur pillow and its velvet cushioning kick back and enjoy the handmade Oak armchair. To summarize, affordable, well-appointed, interesting and opulent public areas. Staff was unobtrusive. All in all, an excellent bargain and excellent place to stay. For sure, my go-to choice y choice if I was visiting Portland.

Huge rooms. Classically luxurious with friendly staff. Really great location within walking distance of many Portland attractions.

Though very compact, the room had all the amenities one would need. The decor was up to date and very comfortable. I love the tall ceilings.

The Benson is such a fabulous place to stay. It's absolutely beautiful and the service is fantastic! It's our favorite place to stay when in Portland!

Amazing staff, location perfect, rooms and interior next to none.

Property is on the center of downtown, easy 5~10 minute walk to all major downtown locations. Rooms look like they were recently renovated, and the beds are some of the most comfortable I've slept it. Only downside is that some of the outside noise can be heard in your room.

Love this historical hotel. Feel very at home here. Enjoy it's Italian design and style amongst the marble pillars and grand balconies. Great service and they make a point doing things right.

This hotel takes the care and effort that many others don't. A simple query for the concierge evolved into a mapped-out two-day itinerary that was perfectly tailored to my family; thanks! The room itself wasn't large, but that's expected with two queen beds in the room. Staff were very helpful, room was clean and quiet, and the hotel is in a very convenient location. I would definitely stay here again when in Portland.

9th floor room. Hotel is beautiful. Parling is pricey if you use valet.
