Great location, fantastic rooms, and good conference facilities. The service was "OK". It wasn't bad, to be clear, but didn't feel they would go the extra mile to make my stay better. In our stay one of the elevators was broken/out of service and the two elevators that remained were slow and busy.

My room was exactly what I wanted! It wasn't too big but the hotel is located perfectly downtown so I was out and about all day. My room had also recently been remodeled and everything was brand new!

Just checed in on Wednesday 9/4. Very good customer support with reservations, checking into the hotel, and receiving information on how to return rental car near the airport, and Blue Star van shuttle to the hotel.

The benson was absolutely amazing! We stayed during the covid pandemic and we were really impressed with how clean things were. Also the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is incredible. The woman at the front desk (I can t remember her name) was so helpful and gave us some great hiking recommendations. You get 2 complimentary drinks from the hotel for each night you stay so we got to spend time in the hotels lounge / bar area where we met Jeff, the restaurant manager. He was also amazing and provided great restaurant recommendations, great service, and he was so fun to talk to. We will be back to the Benson! I wish I could rate this place more than 5 stars - one of my favorite hotels!!!

I had a horrible experience staying here over the ...

I had a horrible experience staying here over the summer, and I'm only able to write this now, months later, because I was still so angry about it at the time.

My husband and I ended up staying here when our live-in van that we were traveling in this summer unexpectedly needed work done at a mechanic. I arrived with a lot of random luggage (we didn't have suitcases, so I had quite a few random bags and totes with me) and my dog to check-in while my husband made arrangements at the mechanic.

The front desk agent was rude to me from the moment I arrived. She was judgemental and snarky and looked me up and down multiple times, as though implying I was not high-class enough to stay at this hotel. I put my luggage on a cart when I walked in, because there was nobody around to assist me (NO sight of any bellhops).

After I got the room keys, I started pushing the cart toward the elevators. When I was nearly there, the front desk agent literally screamed at me "YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT USE THOSE CARTS WITHOUT A BELLHOP, STOP USING THAT IMMEDIATELY." I wish I was exaggerating, but she literally screamed this to me from across the lobby. There were a LOT of people around, all turned to stare at me. I frantically grabbed all my bags, and tried to fumble the rest of the way toward the elevator. Suddenly, a bellhop appeared, and the agent, rather than apologize to me, came over, and started apologizing profusely to the bellhop for my behavior.

I absolutely will not ever stay at this hotel again, and am appalled at the rudeness of the staff. The front desk agent made a very stressful situation so much more unpleasant.

My husband and I stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary! We had an amazing time! The staff was so welcoming. Made me feel like a celebrity lol. Upon arrival we heard a knock at the door and it was a server with complimentary wine to help us celebrate our anniversary. I thought that was so sweet. So since we had such a good time we are bringing our kids to stay and enjoy the luxury and beauty of the hotel. We will be visiting during Dec so I'm excited to see the hotel all decorated for Christmas. We will be going to see the zoo lights. So just a little fun family trip and I can't wait.

We had an enjoyable stay for the weekend. Our room on the 9th floor had comfortable beds and a decent amount of space. We had no view on our side of the hotel which is unfortunate but not really under their control. There was either no bathroom fan or it wasn't working but otherwise the bathroom was reasonably modern and clean. The lobby was a great place to hang out and talk, or just to sit and read. Where many hotels have spartan empty space in the lobby, the Benson lobby is filled with comfortable retro seating. The elevator call system was being repaired or renovated during our visit -- not the most beautiful job, but understandable.

The hotel was beautiful, staff was good... I'm giving 2 stars because this hotel is not kid friendly I feel it's more for escorts than anything else... I was in The elevator 3 times and every time I met escorts with guys with business suits with my two young kids.

From the valet to the concierge to the front desk staff, everyone we interacted with was pleasant and helpful. (Summer even sent us champagne and brownies with an anniversary card!!!) The room was simple, up to date and elegant. And everything was very clean! No problems or complaints at all!

My party and I booked a room at the Benson Hotel this Saturday night. The check in process was fast and safe and our stay was splendid. However, when we checked out the next morning, the hotel tacked on our bill an amenity fee of 26 dollars per night . We were not aware nor informed by the check-in host that an amenity fee was going to be assessed during our stay. The host explained that the amenity fee covers the "complimentary water, drinks, and breakfast" that we had received. I wish that this fee was explicitly discussed at the time of check in. This is deceiful business practices and despite our stay being wonderful, I will not be a participating customer at this hotel in the future.

Beautiful. I stayed four nights in late July early August and loved it. It was quiet and spacious. The lifts were having some work done, with one out for my trip, but the other two meant there wasn t much of a wait. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The location was good. I didn t try any of the food or drink venues inside the hotel, as there was plenty of great options within walking distance. I d definitely stay again.

Truly exceptional service from the moment we arrived. The receptionists were extremely kind and accommodating. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the rooms were quite nice. Will definitely be my go to hotel when visiting Portland in the future.

Great bed! Great breakfast for room service. All around attentive. The lady who checked us out....if she hates her job she should find a new one. Didn't appreciate her attitude when we asked for a copy of our receipt to be emailed to us...Didn't think we asked for much. But she is not a representation of the other staff.

We checked in to this hotel today. Not bad initially but they had a major event tonight that was hugely disruptive. I understand this is an event venue but I would think the hotel would be invested in having event guests not wreak havoc for hotel guests. The front desk was out of water bottles (I assume due to the event) and we were going to get water out of our car but the valet said it would be at least an hour before he could get it due to the number of event guests leaving (not his fault, I blame the hotel). The entire lobby reeks of cigarette smoke from the event guests standing outside smoking and then coming in and out. Additionally you can hear a lot of noise when in the room which makes it difficult to sleep. There s a mini bar in the room which we didn t plan on using but since we didn t get the key to it we can t use the fridge. I am extremely disappointed in this hotel. It is not worth the money at all, I ve stayed in nicer holiday inns.

Considering this location for my wedding and I must say it is gorgeous, from its grand and classic entry, staircases, and crystal ballroom, to its updated and very beautiful updated rooms. Wine tastings in the entry are a delicious treat and live music only improves the atmosphere.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel was actually very clean and comfy. If you compare the price and quality with other top hotels, I think this one won't fall behind. If you are looking for a hotel which isn't super expensive like few hundreds, check this place out!

Stay 3 nights, weekend. Room 919 facing Oak. I LOVE THIS HOTEL! !To answer, there is a coffee maker in the cupboard by the bar (we never used it though), there is a wheelchair entrance by the restaurant which we used every day.The late check in allowed us to wait for a better room on the 9th floor with a view of Mt.St.Helen's and Mt.Hood. They had the room ready in time for my dinner reservations (6pm). We waited for the room while talking to the friendly bartender at the bar. Jazz 3 piece band on Sat eve was romantic, they played for hours while we had a night cap and ate cheesecake. The Buffet was excellent again with a pianist and champagne topped up every time it was empty. I love the 1910 feel of the whole building. Loved the service and people. Portland is a beautiful city with very friendly people. We will be back.

Good location.close to everything. Parking was abundant near by.

Lobby was fancy and busy. There was also complementary wine between 4 to 6. Note, elevators took forever. Gym was kinda smaller than expected.
The rooms were nice and did include a lot of amenities.

I've stayed at this hotel a couple times now for nearly a week each time. I find the beds extremely comfortable. The first room I stayed in was giant and the second room normal however the bathroom in the second room was fairly small. I was not bothered by the bathroom but if you need to sprawl out get a bigger room. I've had their continental breakfast many times and it's good, I wish I could change the 2 muffins for an egg some days. This place has a classic feel as soon as you walk in and see the solid wood decor.

Entrance and lounge is GORGEOUS. The hotel was built in 1913 by Mr. Bensen and he imported all of the wood from Imperial Russia. The chocolate drink, Sweet Dream was okay but the overall experience was still 5 stars for the atmosphere!
