Very nice stay at an infamous hotel. Our deluxe King room had a stunning panoramic view of the Potamac River. The staff were pleasant. Their costumes and the hotel's decor were all on point with the mid-century theme.

My room on the 14th floor 1417 i believe was sweltering hot. And the elevator button layout is trying to be techy and unique but probably just confuses a lot of people. On the positive side they have pens that say I stole this pen from the Watergate hotel.

Loved the decor and the view. I didn't like it that there were 3 employees by the entrance and they didn't even help me open the door when my hands were full with luggage. Employees were just standing there.

Beautiful hotel, great bar on the top. The only complaint is how expensive most things were. 2 Room service chicken clubs were about $50 which is comical. Great stay, just know what you re getting into.

Reduced stars after reading the companies response. Obviously not caring about my actual review. I can see that you didn t read my response. I wasn t thrilled by the design or captivated by the views. I was shocked by the price.

Rooms are very nice. Only complaint regards the scandal room. I was told that it was converted into a museum so I asked for someone to take me to it. Waited 30 minutes only to find out it was in the process of being converted to a museum

I felt ripped off for the price I paid. I figured out, I could have got a better deal at intercontinental. They charge resort fees for pool and fitness center which is standard at a 5 star hotel. Also, I asked for the the room to be cleared of the dishes after the in room dining, no one came. I will never go back there. Room was very small and suffocating. Check out other hotels for better deals

Our stay at the Watergate was absolutely amazing. The staff was very attentive and professional. We had some neighbors that were loud and partying, and when we told the front desk, they immediately sent security and offered us a new room.

It is our 20th wedding anniversary and we wanted to spend it at the beautiful Watergate. My husband had never been to the hotel now it's his favorite as well! The room was absolutely breathtaking. The staff made our experience amazing. Adreanna made our stay so special she was amazing she went above and beyond our expectations. My husband and I will have this memory for years to come. They gave us a beautiful card as well. The views were absolutely gorgeous. We couldn't ask for anything better. The watergate won't disappoint we wanted to thank you all for making this special anniversary even better. We will return!
Thank you again!

I had pleasure of enjoying the spa today. The staff was very very nice and attentive. The nail tech Narrisa was Great and Sweet gentle spirit. I wasn't getting in service done by her but, she saw me having issues with my robe. This is were the 3 stars came into play. Ok, This spa don't have robe for larger woman. A deal breaker for this spa. The pool and louge area are co-ed space. The robe didn't fit me, I had to wrap towel on my lower half so my lady parts don't show. Narrisa found a sheet for to wrap around me. I was ok because understand the issue of spa venue drop the ball. Finally, someone found a larger robe for me. This really shows customer services at it best. This will continue to have me book appointments with the spa due to consern of me being comfortable and for me to enjoy my spa treatment. I will like for this company to invest in plus sizes robes so we all can enjoy the life of spa. Besides, we pay to much money for total experience of relaxation. Again, the staff was Amazing and Sweet. That will be reason I will come back.

Wait staff will try to use broken English to try to add more items to your bill. I noticed it at our table and the table next to us. Main dishes are not worth it. The app we had was a great value (Salmon slides). I have never seen drinks ($16 + tax and tip) with so much ice!!!

The new renovation is pretty in photos but in person, not so much. The public spaces are very claustrophobic in feeling and the hip lounge furniture is uncomfortable. The Roof Top Fireworks party was nice visually but to charge $13 for a bowl of popcorn that cost less than 10 cents was insulting.

First of all: as a student of Watergate and President Nixon, getting to tour the Watergate was a total geek moment for me.

I toured the buildings as my company in Rosslyn was considering it for an office location across the river. The management staff was excellent. They answered any and all questions, and made us feel at home.

The building and grounds are kept up very nicely. The view of the Potomac are excellent.

We had afternoon tea at the Kingbird. The finger sandwiches and biscuits were mediocre at best and service was quite slow. Given that it s a good chunk of change for the experience, I expected better food and service.

We came to the watergate for their winter igloo experience and was extremely disappointed in the food options, portions and cocktails. For a 5-star hotel, the customer service was horrendous and we were repeated treated rudely. Very disappointing overall. We will not be returning here and do not recommend choosing watergate.

A must stay in DC. Make sure you go for the upgrade and get the one bedroom suite. It is worth it. Took a dip in the pool and enjoyed a makers mark old fashion at the whiskey bar before I started my evening.

If I could give this place a negative five stars I would! I didn t stay in the hotel room I went to the outdoor igloos so I m rating my outdoor igloo experience. First off they have false advertisement online and over the phone, they made it appear like the igloos were on the rooftop and they are not. The food is overpriced and trash! It s a unseasoned and the price is just beyond me. The drinks I will give a five star to although our waitress took a year to bring them out. The waitress was really bad she kept forgetting orders and when she did remember she forgot to bring it to the table. The waitress told us the food took so long because they have. To share a kitchen with a restaurant next door which is not cool. And this was the icing on the cake for me. It was a group of four and she told us she could not separate the bill because the system would not let her. It s not 2019 so I find it hard to believe that this really happened she was lazy and didn t want to do the work. Meanwhile, the group I was with had to stay behind a whole extra hour to do the math of the bill ourselves and I am not making this up when I say a whole hour. It s because she made several mistakes on the bill and then had the never to not want to break it down. She told us we had to leave at 12 midnight because that s when the outdoor part closes Meanwhile next to use was a group party like the night was young and they had no plans on leaving anytime soon. After being there for over an hour a manager by the name of Jasmin Wilkerson came over to ask why we were still there not even about the experience we had (WTF) we expressed our concerns and all she did was go in her office and get one business card not even four for all of the groups there. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN and I will also be telling ppl I know to never go there. All you pay for is the experience to sit in the heated outdoor igloo. I will be expressing my concerns to their corporate office so they know what s going on because something has to change soon.

We have been there twice, wants to hang out on the rooftop at the top of the gate which has very nice views and the other time having a few drinks at the next whiskey bar. the last time we were there which was the day after Christmas December 26th we went up to the top of the gate because my in-laws were in town and we thought that they would enjoy the views and the drinks. Unfortunately, we got there early at about 4 and we're waiting for the bartender to turn around and talk to us and she was kind of rude and said that the bar wasn't open until 5. so we went back downstairs and had some well overpriced drinks including $9 beers out of a bottle.

If you are familiar with DC, it kind of reminds me of McFadden's where they're trying to be upscale by having a bathroom attendant in the bathroom selling cigarettes and mouthwash and all that kind of stuff. The cost of drinks is not worth the ambiance.

Fantastic place for a weekend getaway--close to lots of things to do and a short walk from Georgetown. I would definitely recommend checking out their rooftop bar at sunset or later--great place to view the city and people watch!

Stayed last night - only second night open - has not even had its grand opening yet. Bed was very comfortable. Very modern - beautiful view. Staff were eager to please. The Whiskey Next Bar is very hip and alive, but only serves extremely light fare, olives, popcorn, deviled eggs-do not go there hungry. Also be very careful of the bar stools-not only did I topple out of my chair, a friend with us completely fell with his chair to the floor-they are not well-suited chairs-very unstable footing on the chairs. The roof top is not open yet so was not able to enjoy that. I highly recommend staying at this brand new renovated hotel. Great location and energy.

I was asked by staff to leave the pool because ano...

I was asked by staff to leave the pool because another guest wanted us to. Allegedly she complained about what I chose to wear. I had a plain white tee and a pair of my husband s swimming shorts over my bikini because I didnt want to be exposed in a high traffic area.

There was one other woman in the pool. The woman stared at us from the time we got in, to the time she finally left. Shortly after she left, a member of staff came and asked if we were guests. We told him of course we were. He started to walk away then came back. This time he said we had to get out of the pool and hurriedly walked away. I hopped out and followed behind him. When I finally caught up to him, I asked why he was telling us to leave. He said I had to have on a swimsuit. I told him I prefer to not be exposed and asked what was wrong with my t shirt. He repeated that it is policy and that I have to wear a swimsuit. I asked him to show me the policy. He said he didn t have it but reiterated that it was policy. I asked again to see the policy. He finally said it wasnt policy but their guests will complain if I have on a t shirt. I asked explicitly if the guest that had just left the pool complained. He said yes. He said that I did not look hygienic, whatever that is supposed to mean. I told him I was going to speak to a manager.

When I got to the front desk, I asked for a manager. The front desk attendant asked why and I told her what had just happened. She was apologetic and stated that what the man said was in fact not policy. She asked me to wait while she got her manager. The manager came and I told her the same story. She was also apologetic and stated that the director would reach out to the employee. They offered to upgrade my room in the event that I stay again. Thats it. Humiliation caused by unlawful discrimination is now fixed with an upgraded room. Thanks, Watergate.

I m a paying customer. I m paying for the amenities. I m paying for the experience. Unfortunately my experience was one of bias. The only difference between myself and the guest who complained about my husband and I being in a pool was our demographic. We are a young minority couple. She was an older caucasian woman. I m not making it about race. This is about utter disrespect. We were not loud, we were not engaging in PDA, we were not being a nuisance... nothing. I rinsed in the shower before I stepped foot in the pool, we did not dive, we did not run, etc., like the ACTUAL policy on the wall stated. My husband had on a t shirt and swimming shorts as well but somehow I have to have on a swimsuit?

My husband and I were floating on one end of the pool, minding our business. For whatever reason that made sense in his mind, this employee decided to appease an erroneous request and ask paying guests to leave a public area for the benefit of one woman whose comfortability should not have been placed above ours.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Watergate! It is my favorite place to go and has reinvigorated me to my love of D.C. !!! However, this last trip was not the best. Our room was a bit warm, so we opened our balcony door and late in the night we smelled a distinct smell of THC coming up from the ground floor. Looking out the balcony and straight down we saw several of the bell hops engaging in smoking. While, we were there, we smelled this smell several times. Secondly, we payed over 175$ per person for the new years eve party, which was supposed to be at the "top of gate", while the party downstairs was fun, it was crowded, hot, and did not have a lot to offer someone who does not drink. Usually, the Watergate is the best hotel ever! I am sure, it will be again. But, this past trip left a lot to be desired.

Very nice hotel the spa was amazing as well
I would highly recommend it for a weekend away in the DMV parking around the hotel is horrible but there is in and out valet parking is needed. Indoor pool only but it s very nice and relaxing. The only bad part was he elevators were very slow and the rooms can be pretty noisy I literally heard a lady laughing in the middle of the night and the doors closing on the floor.

The way this place nickel and dimes you takes away...

The way this place nickel and dimes you takes away from the experience. This is both for tips and the fact that most things in the room have a price tag on them, and an absurd one at that. I understand not having an ice machine on the floor because they want to let room service take care of you, but between walking down the hall and getting my own ice, or waiting 35 minutes for them to bring me a bucket, I'd take the ice machine. They only give you two towels and expect you to ask for more if you need them. This also takes a long time. The fit and finish is off. The USB ports in my room were broken, the bed didn't fit the frame correctly so it ate pillows, the TV is on the wall crookedly, the bathroom door takes a huge amount of strength to open and close (my partner required my help), the carpet is worn and stained, many of the decorative designs are faded and chipped, and the hot water left much to be desired. Just because a hotel vehemently asserts that it's luxury doesn't make it so. It's a pretty hotel, but when you look closely it's a bit like lipstick on a pig.

I stayed at this Hotel for a conference and my experience at this hotel was not good. First, I booked a hotel room for river view and the first room I was assigned to had a view of another hotel. The room was changed and I ended up in a room with a non-working heater. Mind you it is December in DC. I was provided with a portable heater after 3 phone calls to the front desk. I was moved again to another room since the heater could not be fixed and this room was ok. The manager left a bottle of water and some fruits that looks like gas station fruits and a handful of peanuts to say I am sorry for the inconvenience (compensation for a night would have been better). I am not sure why anyone would send a handful of peanuts in an open container to someones room (very unsanitary). Checked out and realized that there is a resort fee, which is $34. This fee apparently is for basic amenities like the use of the gym you get for free at other hotels, which I never used. A week later I looked at the charges on my card and realized that they charged me for champagne/wine I did not drink for the day that I checked out! I never even opened the fridge. So, all in all do not stay here. You will be overcharged and the quality of service received will be worse than a Holiday Inn.

We spent the weekend here for our 15th wedding anniversary! It was a great weekend. The hotel is awesome. Great location and quick access to everything in Georgetown and DC. The history is great. Definitely make some time to tour the Scandal Suite. The head bellman was so knowledgeable and a gracious host.

The renovation is very well-done and the staff are excellent. It's fun staying at a place with such a sordid history. My only complaint is that it's sort of hard to get anywhere from that particular location.

I stayed at the watergate hotel for 3 nights between 7/3/17 and 7/6/2017
After we checked out my wife realized that she forgot her $1400 french coat in the room.
We went back to the hotel thinking that would be an easy fix, unfortunately it wasn't!!!
We were told that room service saw the coat, but now it disappeared??!!! They don't know who took it, or how did it disappeared!!!
I was told that they will do investigations, so I explained that I had a plane to catch, they said they have to do investigations in order to find the coat, and they offered me a bottle of water which I refused to take.
Long story short, more than hour later and still nobody knows where the coat went??!!!
It seems to me like some of the hotel staff are not honest, and may be someone stole my wife's coat.
In the end, and after almost hour and a half they were able to find the coat apologizing to us.
We ran to the airport but unfortunately we missed our flight, so I had to book a new flight, and spent one extra night at another hotel closer to the airport, and I had to extend my car rental for another day. Also, I missed my meeting that I was suppose to attend on the next day.
I contacted the hotel and complained, so they asked for receipts and invoices for everything that I had to spent which I did send to them. and still they refused to refund me the total of $553 that they cost me.

They also have some very unique cocktails including one with a carrot puree which was quite good despite being a bit heavy for August.
