Nicest staff in the world. I had my shoes shined early one morning and they were very nice.

Best night's sleep ever. Amazing staff and fantastic location
Worst hotel ever, J.J Astor is dead, RIP
EDIT:
Titanic sunk and I'm upset. We need to build a wall to keep Mario and Luigi out of this country. They are toxic and they are causing millions and millions of money to waste. Donald Drumpf will be a good president to take down Bruce Ismay. Maybe if I go down to see the titanic I will see Jack's body. RIP my ni a Jack
Upset they are closing the hotel down. That's where my father likes to stay when he visits. So much history. What a shame.
I visited this hotel because I heard the lobby was beautiful. Definitely something to see! Almost like a museum in hotel form. I wasn't a guest here, I only walked in for a few minutes to take a look.
An absolutely epic venue if you can get there for an event. No idea if the actual hotel is any good.
This 5 Star Hotel has a reputation of being elegant, exquisite, royal and top notch. I've stayed here several times, and the Waldorf lives uo to its reputation. Staff is professional and the Hotel is always super clean.
Beautiful /Fancy hotel. I went there for an organized party and the venue is amazing
Got married there in 2003 room 37H would kill to see it again.
Great location and service. Beautiful lobby. Iconic landmark in NYC .
If it's good enough for the president, it's good enough for me. Not the most exciting part of town though.
The Bed is very comfortable.
Bath is not well maintained.
No free Wifi on Room (Hello its 2016!!!).
Bath is a little bit dirty.
TV doesnt work.
Loud AC.
I can hear the beepsound of the elevator the whole night in my room.
Terrific hotel a spectacular comfortable attention wide its atmospheres
Visit it !!!!!!!
Amazing history and atmosphere here, however rooms are small and in need of renovation. Location is amazing of course!
We stayed at the hotel before in the towers. The suite was big and roomy but dated. The hotel's location and staff are it's only vice. I came back a few days later to be checked into a room that smelled like cheeseburgers and like a BBQ was still going on. I honestly can not describe how stinky the room was. It was passed midnight when we checked in so we stayed. Otherwise I would not stay even if I had a gun to my head.
Beautiful hotel. Customer service is outstanding, they really went above and beyond to make our 25th anniversary trip a memorable one.
Not permanently closed, just for complete restoration !
Excellent Sunday brunch It's expensive but it's worth it.
Great price for the huge two room suite. Room services were VERY slow ended up calling more than once for simple requests. Overall very happy we stayed there.
The lobby and restaurant areas are amazing. The standard rooms though, are very tired.
Good central location for all of Manhattan.
Clean and spacious rooms and a very friendly staff. Fantastic location. Room service and other extras are extremely expensive but probably comparable to most hotels in NYC in that respect.
Friendly Ghanian staff. The Waldorf Astoria has a large, open lobby. Meisterstuck Mont Blanc pens are used by the Concierge staff. The Waldorf Astoria offers "Purple Water" hand soap from the Czech republic in the gentlemen's restrooms. I will certainly find reasons to revisit in the future.
Was disappointed. Long line to get my key even after digital check in. Older hotel so I enjoyed the ambiance but very small room.
Stayed before the renovation was started. Elegant old building that is past its prime. Amazing history and architecture
The facade very beautiful and the reception very beautiful but the room super sucks we had to stay 5 days we spent one night with great regret. Super old, I'm not talking about the bathroom and the rest. We returned to the STANDARD HOTEL Top from top
When I read the negative posts I am at a loss for words. We can only speak to the visits we have had at the Waldorf. We have been fortunate enough to stay at many of the other Waldorf properties ( if you enjoy skiing I would suggest the one in Park City ). I can honestly say this hotel has the best service of the bunch. In fact, I told the lady at the Waldorf that they could put on a session for the other properties and we have had excellent experiences at those as well. Quick example - I came back from a long run and was really in need of water. I went to the front desk asking for one and the lady seriously ran across the lobby to get a bottle for me. Maybe I looked like I was ready to fall over, but regardless she ran both ways to get me a water. Our rooms have always been excellent. We are staying here again for the NY marathon and can't wait!!!
Stayed at the Waldorf a couple of months ago before it was under new ownership.
Iconic, classic, beautiful Art Deco landmark. Everything was wonderful from the dining to the rooms, and the top notch staff. Classic Manhattan!
In the 1930s and 1940s, the first of the history of this location, Xavier Cugat's orchestra touched the Sertroom, being one of the charismatic figures of the hotel. There is currently no information that explains it.
My stay at the Waldorf Astoria was my far wonderful! The staff is extremely pleasant and very helpful with any questions that need answers. The rooms are very nice but you can't control the air and heat in the room(1451) it's too cold and the heat doesn't turn on. I love the old feel to the hotel and the upkeep to this hotel is great. I've stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in Chicago and when I tell the owner( Mr. Geller) how much I love his staff and hotel he's all smiles.
The one thing that needs work is the Wi-Fi it's either doesn't work in the rooms or its like so so slow or always trying to connect. Don't like having to come to the lobby each time to do work.
Keep up the great work
A really fantastic hotel with a classic touch of class about it. Very friendly and helpful staff and a beautiful place to stay
Stayed at the Waldorf on a black Friday deal and was duly impressed. Beautiful building and lobby, well decorated rooms, and a nice location for a weekend trip to NY
Nice atmosphere with a real old school feel. The hotel really has character. However the room smelled kind of bad (probably the carpet). We had a big noisy AC unit outside of the window. The price of WIFI was just ridiculous considering the price of the room.
This place has the most racist doormen ever, they sell airport fares to poor cabbies for $5-$15 depends on which airport and if cabbies don't pay they tell them to leave and when I asked what was wrong with that cab the guy told me he didn't trust his driving
Sensational flash back to build one of the best hotel in USA and world.
Really nice vintage feel to the place. The grand hall is really spacious and can fit a large number of people during events. The staff is pleasant and very well mannered. It's a shame that the building is being converted into condos.
The worst hotel in NYC.Expensive, old and outdated.
It's the Waldorf Astoria! Old historical hotel, fancy rooms. Good location, great service, some really nice restaurants in the hotel. Their room service menu is amazing, especially in how they cater to a number of food allergies. They have gluten free pasta, bread, buns, muffins, etc etc. We had a lovely stay here.
It is what it is! Glad I was there before the renovation.
This place lives off its name and heritage. How much longer can this really last? Great shame and disappointing stay.
Very Average. The iconic hotel needs a big upgrade.
We slept in a suite in the waldorf towers, time has stood still but nice immense suite is not normal with a beautiful view for little money. You also have a small cozy breakfast room in the tower and that gives an extra dimension super experience
One of the most beautiful hotels in New York. Spacious rooms, very comfortable beds and the whole interior of the hotel is nothing short of magnificent! Impeccable reception and services.
An amazing place to stay if you have the right clout
Beautiful hotel. The amenities and furnishings were second to none. The food was breathtaking.
Gorgeous place! My boyfriend reserved a suite and I had one of the best nights together with him.
I love this hotel. Its old but not dated. The staff is very anticipatory, not reactive. The food is inventive not standard. The gym is among the best in NYC.

Beautiful and extremely Elegante; great food!
I have attended so Many Benefit Parties, and remembering one that they brought in a Soprano and Tenor in a Carriage with a beautiful White Horse... still wonder how they managed that feat
This place is the epidemy of old school New York. "If these walls could talk"...... this takes this phrase to the next level. .....especially the towers. I've stayed in both parts of the hotel...both great. Service....GREAT......attention to detail......GREAT.
Bull and Bear steak house right downstairs.....AMAZING!
So so sad the last day of this incredible establishment is February 28th, 2017.
Closing for three years to be turned into apartments.
But guess, who bought it???? The Chinese.
The Chinese buying the Waldorf Astoria???? Now that's what you call selling out.
Employees not happy....still give super great service........
Go while you can.....to experience this iconic piece of history......
Unfortunately closed except for wide ...
It's a pity for such a great hotel
Bad. Standard not even up to a 3 star hotel. Here's why:
1. No liquid body soap (only bar soap).
2. No toothbrush and toothpaste
3. No kettle and no tea making facilities
4. No drinking water provided.
5. Used cups not cleaned or cleared away even after 2 days of housekeeping
6. Towel is dirty and would have been easily spotted by housekeeper as the obvious dirty mark was facing up
7. The lift is unbelievably noisy and can be heard throughout the night
8. The room is very dusty. I cleaned the work table in the morning and when I return, there's always a layer of visible dust
9. The pillows stink
10. There's holes (yes, more than 1) on my pillow case and it is still being used
11. Housekeeper was chit chatting when she knocked on the door, and could not hear me shouting for her to hold on (how could she when she was talking at the same time). She then proceeded to open the door while I was changing my clothes.
12. No wifi in room
13. No room slippers
14. No hair dryer
The one good thing I admire though is the beautiful lobby and the toilet in the lobby. It's very unfortunate I don't sleep in lobby.
Use to be the IT place to stay in New York but the rooms are soooooo dated now.
Astoria is closed for refurbishment until December 2021!
Old building. Falling apart in some places... Needs to be updated... But the service is AMAZING. I don't think i would go here again
Historic building, great service when needed. Location is fantastic. The lobby is absolutely fantastic, and the rooms are nice, but a little dated (although renovations are coming soon). Overall, it's wonderful.
The hotel is beautiful, with careful attention paid to the ornate decor. I believe the hotel is about to undergo extensive renovations, and I can't wait to go back and see the improvements!
Just walked around the lobby and comman areas on the way to my hotel. Very beautiful!
The hotel respects the service traditions in the imposing facilities. It is logical that some equipment could be renewed, like the noisy air conditioning and some light switches, which confess the high age.
Nice hotel. Same price as the Hilton, but the service is way better. Rooms are nice, but not stunning.
Old style luxury, if you like that. Falling a bit behind the times in style and service.
A historic address... the rooms in the tower are more opulent - but the regular hotel rooms are nice as well (recently reno'd and very comfortable.) It's a classic... if you can afford it - it won't disappoint.
Amazing! Went for my 30th birthday, the staff and service was amazing. The whole hotel is amazing. They have a number of bars in the hotel, my favourite was Sir Harry's Bar, then the Peacocks bar was my second favourite. The room was very spacious and really nice too. If you ask, they will also provide you with plug adapters, extra towels etc at no extra cost. It is also walking distance from a number of different food places and an amazing breakfast/brunch diner called luncheonette.
This hotel is very elegant, the lobby setting is an introductory of the rooms. I stayed in the Presidential suite. My room had a 19th century decor, prestigious design and the staff made my stay worthwhile.
For all the hype that surrounds the Waldorf Astoria... it was a huge let down! The service at the concierge, etc. was horrible! Room service requests were also disappointing... I will stick with my all time favorite, The Carlyle! It is hard to beat!
