I was thrilled when my sister in law told me we were staying at a 5 star hotel when we booked our little vacay to New York.
I studied up on the history of the hotel going back to the 1800's..amazing ! I could not wait to get there and let me tell you ...I was NOT disappointed !!!
The lobby is breathtaking...the reception desk employees were so nice and completely accommodating. The Bell capt. was adorable. Our room (double full) was spotless and the bathroom was huge. The robes to die for and the beds....OH, the beds were delicious. I kept thinking if I could just hide one sheet a day, by the end of my stay I'd be set. The hand lotion they have in the lobby restrooms is divine...I've even googled it and purchased some for myself.
Can't say enough about this lovely hotel and it's employees. I hope to come back one day !!
Thanks for a great stay !

Too long, didn't read: convenient, but dated and not worth the price. Customer service also leaves much to be desired.

A blast into the past, the Waldorf lobby showcases all the lush and glamour from decades old. However, their accomodations leave the customer wanting. The rooms are rather small, which wouldn't be a problem if everything were working properly. On top of that, after looking for ice on several floors, we finally ordered some from room service, and after waiting for several hours, they never arrived. If you're looking for convenience, the Waldorf is located in a prime spot downtown. But if you're looking for something a bit more lavish, the rooms aren't worth the price.

Not long ago I had the pleasure to visit this atmospheric hotel. There is no doubt that there is a great atmosphere there. At every step you can feel the history associated with this place. Nice and helpful staff. Being in New York is definitely worth spending some time in such a pleasant place.

Great spot 4 crashing take care I love you very well a little . . Well the Waldorf has . A little pricey tag. Treated from the job a conference was held there the only reason. I'm even giving a review. Definitely a great location though so ups and downs like LIFE.

Who doesn't like a good hotel? A place where every sitting president has stayed. Its a grand magical place with many nooks and crannies. Come for breakfast. Stay for dinner! I've stayed here once, and the service is impeccable.

Finally stayed here from Friday to Sunday November 18-20, 2016. Sure the hotel is dated as many know but the rooms are clean and lobby fantastic. Sad to see it go. Was a great hotel for many years and for many people.

What a luxury hotel. Very central, very nice rooms. The lobby is a triumph of luxury. To visit. To stay overnight some web channels offer very discounted rates, but you have to be persevering!

Stayed here on our honeymoon, the public areas were stunning. The rooms were tired and there was no tea or coffee making facilities. I complained and was told that it had become a problem and was removed. Great for a 5* hotel.....

Bees at the Waldorf! This was an amazing Surprising visit. Here s the quick recap.

We go to New York to see my son. We pop in the Waldorf for a cocktail. I notice on the menu they have several drinks with Waldorf Honey . About the same time, the food and beverage manager happens to walk up to our table and ask how my Manhattan tastes. It was excellent. Being a bee keeper myself, I ask him about the Waldorf honey. He says, We have hives on the 20th floor. Do you want to see them? Meet me here tomorrow morning at 10am and I ll give you a tour!

Wow! How cool. I couldn t wait and we were not disappointed. He was waiting for us as we walked in promptly at 10am. He told us some history about famous former and current residents as we made our way to the private elevators for people who live there.

We got off the elevator and he took us out to a large patio. This is the Waldorf garden where they grow herbs and had 5 or 6 bee hives lined up. Amazed at the view around me in the middle of this incredibly busy city, I watched the bees coming and going - 20 stories up. The bees just took off over the edge into the New York atmosphere looking for pollen, nectar and water to feed the hive.

Bee hives are hard to keep alive in rural Denver Colorado. But keeping bees on the 20th floor in mid-town? That s a feat! And a tasty one at that!

What's not to love about this hotel? Real crystal wine glasses, ferragamo soap and toiletries. But all joking aside , the hotel is beautiful, great service , wonderful all around . Expensive yes , but what did you expect?

I loved the atmosphere of this hotel and the food in the restruant was excellent. They had great steak and shrimp and someone as our table had spilt wine accidently and it was picked up within a minute and they poured us a new bottle in no time, They even had tuscany body lotion in the guest bathroom of the hotel. I would highly suggest this resturant for steak and sea food lovers

Ok, to be clear, this is not a one-star hotel. But given that it was a $450 room, the Waldorf merits a one-star review.

1. It took 25 minutes for the front desk to get me my room. I had a king bed reserved, and for my trouble they graciously "upgraded" me to a double bed. Spoiler alert: that is a downgrade.

2. The plumbing in my room did not work. When I turned on the shower or the sink, it splurted out water and turned off randomly, and I couldn't actually use either one.

3. The glasses were dirty. As in... used. They just put those paper covers on them and left them as is.

4. One of the lightbulbs in the bathroom was burned out, and there was a spare sitting on the sink. Not a big deal, but indicative of the hotel experience as a whole.

5. Oh yeah, and the lobby was full of escorts when I got there.

There are a half-dozen nicer hotels within a couple blocks of the Waldorf. Sure it has a great name, but this hotel came nowhere close to warranting the high price tag. Thuuuuuuumbs down.

The moonlight of yesterday! Hope the owner has a careful hand and a sense of history when renovating the building. Supplement 09/2018 service was excellent! Just wanted to express my concern for future use.

The rooms seem outdated / antiquated, it was clean. The toilet was a bit smaller than anticipated and the window in there is open / less privacy. The drapes are good and heavy in the room; however even when covering them, a bit of sunlight still pours in.

We decided to stay here before it closed down. The bed seemed small for a king. We actually mentioned it to them and they swore it was a king. The toilet had some issues and someone had to come up and fix it. Staff was great, which I expected. The underground pickup area was very convenient and would have been even more appreciated if it had been raining. Location, of course, is excellent.

Had to wait several hours to check in. Although we were a few hours early, our experience with other Hilton properties has been that they always checked us in as soon as we arrived. The people were very nice and helpful and I applaud their service. But the room was very drafty and in an unseemly state of disrepair with crumbling walls and torn wall paper. The plumbing was in need of repair with weeping faucets and unusual placement of bath/shower fixtures. Housekeeping was not so good, a towel I grabbed the first night was dirty and had some kind of brown soil on it: I shudder to imagine what it could have been. Electrical outsets were sparse and inconveniently located so devices that needed charging had to be plugged in across the room and out of reach from the bed. Every hotel I have patronized; Hilton or not, always provided a small coffee pot. I was shocked that one was not supplied by this historically luxuriant, highly esteemed establishment. One more thing is that as an HHonors member, every other Hilton I have ever used, which is many, offered complimentary breakfast, but this one offered only a 25% discount. I must admit that the Waldorf did not live up to its reputation or my expectations. And $101 for breakfast was a little steep in my opinion.
I understand it is closing next month for about three years and will be under new ownership. Fortunately, the city laws require preservation of it's beautiful, elegant and ornate lobby as well as the outside of the building. These are very good things.

We upgraded to the Waldorf Towers and spent blizzard weekend here. It was great. I felt very pampered. The staff is attentive and capable.

Our room in the Towers was quite large and had a great view of the snow-bound city. The furnishings were elegant but a little battered by time, and could use a refresh.

The only downside of our weekend was an extremely long wait for our room service order to arrive, but this was forgivable given the extraordinary circumstance of a hotel full of guests with most restaurants in the area closed for business.
