Food at the event was excellent and the hotel itse...
Food at the event was excellent and the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. Doorman was extremely rude when walking in and created a horrible first impression but otherwise the hotel is nice.

Lovely clean room, the art deco in lobby gives the hotel real character. Very polite and swift on checking in, housekeeping very good and always acknowledge you.
Great hotel and experience!! A shame it is going away!!
The former glory of the years is over. Rooms look rather dusted than traditional and with the touch of the claim of a 5 hotel. Good central location, good service, yes, that's right. Also the restaurant convinced. But the Plaza at Central Park is two better in comparison. Average, therefore only 3 .
Great staff. Atmosphere is amazing. Historical and yet modern, great place for those looking to experience what NY once was but also have modern luxuries. Rooms make you feel like royalty
My wife and I will spend 3 nights in this wonderful hotel next week.
Its gonna be our second stay there!
Can't hardly wait. :D
It's the Waldorf but not my style and pretty much outta range.
Fancy schmancy, a place I can only afford when my dad fits the bill, but when he does, I love it!
Gorgeous older, yet upgraded hotel. Full of power players for meals and events. Pricey but amenities, staff and location are worth it.
We stayed in the Waldorf Tower on a business trip. This is easily the nicest place I've stayed. The room is massive and it has a living room. I love the classic style and the long history of this place. My great grandmother worked here long ago.
I have a couple minor quibbles: I don't like to login to the internet on each device every time I want to use it.
Also, it is regrettable that the Waldorf is no longer owner by an American company. Instead, the taxi driver told us it was purchased by a Chinese company. This is apparent when you notice the Chinese flourishes in the hotel. To me, these changes are inconsistent with the history and theme of the hotel. I also heard that the new owners are renovating rooms to be sold as condos. Again, too bad given the long history of this place.
This was a wonderful Hotel with great history and old fashion luxury. This is definitely the best Hotel in Park avenue. It also offers the best Sunday brunch with lobster tails, shrimp, salmon etc... This Hotel is also located close to a lot of great attractions and stores. I will highly recommend staying here for a wonderful experience !!
The place looks amazing, and the service was pretty good.
I throwback to luxury of old... But not today. Small room, old bathroom, no free amenities like breakfast. Auto-charge minibar in room.
I have been staying at the Waldorf Astoria each year for 10 years. I have had to stay here, because our convention required us to stay at this hotel. Every year I have had major problems with my room, from water pouring from a broken pipe in the ceiling in the hallway causing us to walk through water soaked carpet, to a broken toilet that was not fixed for two days, and this year, with a broken light fixture in the closet, and a blind that come came crashing down when pulled just gently. I would strongly urge you to NOT stay at this hotel. They have been working off their name for many years, and have been in need of major renovation for decades. Most native New Yorkers considers hotel joke. I have now come to the same conclusion.
When I booked this hotel again for a convention, I told the reservation person my horror stories from my past stays here and they assured me I would be staying in a newly renovated room. When I checked into the hotel they placed me in a non-smoking room directly next door to a smoking room on the seventh floor which was completely unacceptable. The front clerk, Angel, told me he would find a perfectly good replacement room which he did not. Only after placing this review online, did I receive decent treatment from his hotel. Karina, the room division manager, placed me in a small sweet for my last night of mice day which was acceptable.
First time for lunch at the famous Peacock Alley. It was as great as expected. Will definitely return.
Great location, services were impeccable, stayed for nine days loved it. Door man learned our name by second day. Treated us great when were just couple guys out vacationing and having good time.
I went for brunch, the service was exceptional, the food was overall very good and fresh. I found the overall experience wonderful, but I felt the price per person was more based on name than quality. 125 a person is just too high for nothing that special on the menu. I guess if I was there for several hours I could more see the appeal.
Evrytimes we stayed , we really enjoy it & that's my favorite place in New York City
Unfortunately closed for now, but we had a very nice stay in the Waldorf Astoria. It was nice to see this famous building, which was shown in many Hollywood productions.
It's a classic hotel ... Unfortunately the rooms are not classic or clean ! As a gold Hilton honors memeber I told the front desk to upgrade me and I even offer to pay extra for a better room and they said they were sold out. Until I turn on the Hilton app and there were still rooms available ! Well now I was lied too. Wrong thing to do .... I stayed at a lot of Hilton hotels and these people did nothing to make
My stay better . It's very rare I write a review but I had to in this case ! I don't recommend this hotel .
Classic of the classics of NY, it seems to be in a movie. I was in NY in the winter and every time I came back to him, I felt at home.
Lovely service, decadent downstairs area, but not so super rooms
Great hotel. The rooms are a bit on the small side.
My wife and I stayed here on August 6, 2016, and despite an initial error with our suite (it was also booked to another customer) and our eventual room transfer, were fairly pleased with our accommodations. Unfortunately upon checkout we were presented with an invoice for a meal at Peacock Alley amounting to $91.66, which we did not partake in, and had obviously been charged to our room by mistake. The clerk hesitantly took back the invoice and, looking displeased, said that the hotel would look into the matter and investigate. We weren't sure then if she was insinuating that we lied or that we wanted to deny our way out of the charge, judging by her demeanor, but we let it go, reassuring ourselves that in the end Waldorf Astoria would do the right thing. A month later we found out that the amount was charged to my wife's HSBC account. Needless to say, we're very keen to check out other hotels in Manhattan, and expect integrity and quality service for a change.
Service quality is below average in many respects. The hotel doesn't seem to have enough staff from reception to engineering. Rooms are outdated. What would be considered basic needs such as properly working TV, stable hot water supply for showering, as examples were not available during our stay. Wifi internet is $26/day. Would not stay again.
Architectural icon, pity that it does not have images of the personalities that have attended ...
Great location. Quite nice.... but left feeling it was well past it is prime. Stayed in better.
Great experience and vibe. Would stay here again. Did you know? They claim to be responsible for Waldorf salad, red velvet cake and thousand island dressing. They also offer a walking tour a few times per week.
Absolutely gorgeous and historic hotel. The detail put into every inch is incredible
Great hotel. Very pretty outside, very pretty lobby. Room was smallish but very cute and stylish. Bathroom was clean and cute. Bed was super comfy! Our room view out the window was just other hotel rooms. Fast check in. Even faster checkout. I'd definitely stay here again. Times square is so busy, it was nice to have a hotel that was a block or two away from the total chaos.
The service was outstanding, dinning at the hotel was a bit pricey but expected: as for the rooms, found them to be outdated, wallpaper peeling from the wall old fixtures.
So glad I was able to experience the greatness of this hotel in its final days. Walking in, the art deco definitely makes you feel as if you've stepped back in time. All the restaurants are amazing, especially Peacock Alley for Sunday Brunch which was truly an experience. The hotel is also pet friendly which is a HUGE bonus in my opinion.
I met him about 47 years ago, my husband and I went to a brunch and the attention of the staff, the food and the stately luxury of the furniture, lamps, well everything was impressive. We are in love.
Very old, bad service and overall quite a terrible experience.
An amazing hotel which has echo's of yesteryear.
The service was second to none and if fact started ahead of our trip with the Concierge helping out with bookings at various 'hard to get into' restaurants.
We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a suite, which was huge, especially for New York. The rooms felt a little tired, when compared to newer hotels but don't let that put you off - they were still quite grand.
Everyone, from the door man, to the bell hop and housekeeping were ready with a cheerful greeting.
But the main star is the building itself, which is beautiful example of Art Deco design, especially the front lobby.
Make sure you visit while you can.
Remodeling construction was very loud late into the night and very early in the morning. They made sleeping almost impossible. Awful.
Wow. What a stay!!! We stayed in the towers of Waldorf astoria. Which is basically where all the suites are and the suites were just fantastic! Couldn't recommend it any more.. I'm so sad it's closing... I did a vlog of the hotel you can check out my youtube channel H4CK3D_G4mes! I did a bunch of vlogs in NYC and they feature the hotel, be sure to check it out! Stay here whilst it's still open! The apartments are going to be fantastic
Disappointed, they were completely closed for remodeling.
I was the Towers Butler here for two years and it was my home for many years before that. I will likely return as a resident when the new Towers condos open. I also served as the hotel's archivist and historian alongside Mr. Tepper, the legendary concierge of the Towers. I was just there a couple of days ago and was impressed at how much care is going into the restoration. It may actually be better for this work and she is being restored properly. I am watching over her carefully.
It's a nice hotel. I understand the historical point of it but the rooms are outdated as hell
Stayed there for two weeks when I was in New York. It was an experience of a lifetime!
Stayed one night in a corner room of the 34th floor in the tower. Room was large but in a serious need of updating. The decor is truly gloomy (it was like sleeping in my dead grand mother's bedroom) and cleanliness could be improved. We could hear the noise from construction and traffic outside as the windows are barely soundproof. Also, as we were supposed to check out this morning, the cleaning lady started knocking repeatedly on our door from 8:45am on so as to force us out.... Quite unacceptable when the regular check out time is noon...
The perfect inviting venue on a chilly winter night.
Historic and fabulous. Love the Waldorf Astoria, upon entering you feel the magic.
It has been my most sumptuous and excellent stay in which I have been during my visits to New York
Extraordinary lobby and ambiance. Rerks of money, history, propriety. Rooms are not special.
Amazing place. Loved the history, it's character and ambience.
Location and atmosphere are awesome. Yet the standard rooms really don't justify the price! In our first room we actually had rust in the shower. Not very 5 star-ish. We then got upgraded to a room on the top floor (27th), which was every bit as great as one would expect. Breathtaking.
Reminded me of the Coming To America scene when the convoy of W126 Mercs drove past. Sad it was shut for renovation.
Hotel very nice. Staff wonderful however food at event was not very good.
Beautiful interior. It's too bad they are closing the lobby indefinitely for renovations tomorrow.
Great old hotel, but yes, still old. Renovated rooms are nice, but certainly not modern. If you don't like modern hotels, then this one is perfect for you.
Class just like i was expecting one of the best hotel experiences only down point it didnt have a gym or swimming pool
Iconic, fabulous hotel on equally fabulous Park Avenue. Fit for King where everyone feels like Royalty. Stunning lobby. Spectacular interior, fabulous rooms, great cocktails and food to enjoy ambiance and atmosphere and be part of it... New York... New York...Waldorf salad is famous all over the world as hotel itself. Fantastic service as expected in such posh place. Decor kept memories on great times in history but it was time reflect modern times so Hotel is currently under renovation. It will be even more gorgeous, majestic and mesmerizing when is re open.
Can t wait to stay there again to enjoy luxury at its best. Hotel Waldorf Astoria was and always will be crown jewel of Big .
Attended a charity event here and it was very spacious and easy to get around.
I came to check out the Art Deco architecture, the mosaic mural the wheel of life, and in general to be immersed in the energy of glamorous old time New York. Additionally I wanted to do some research for a novel I'm writing, yes like many in this city, I too am a struggling and starving artist.
To my dismay because I came in through the "wrong" entrance, I was profiled. I was told by security that it would be "easier" to go around through to the main entrance. So I did, and I had a leisurely stroll around. Before I was to have a drink in the lobby bar, I decided to use the restroom.
It was then that the reality of the situation dawned on me, that yes I, who have passed as Caucasian all my life, was being made other. It arrived with the knock on the bathroom stall, and the famously rude New York attitude telling me, "I know I'm not supposed to be here." Yes I am of middle eastern descent, yes I have a luscious beard, yes my head is covered, and no it doesn't matter that my coat is Claiborne.
After I walked out, I was interrogated by not one, but two security guards with earpieces and suits. I then explained everything to them, and they apologized. All is forgiven, a simple "misunderstanding" sure yes, call it what you will. So I sit here and drink French cider at your fancy bar, quite certain that I'm still on your little list. Which is odd, considering the Chinese ownership of the hotel.
All good fodder for my novel, but your folly earns you a well deserved one star, and if you're very lucky, this won't blow up on social media. Cheers to rolling the dice!
Great stay. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the initial wait for our room and the weak water pressure on the shower. Everything else was top notch...
El edificio es precioso.
Pero por estar en un lugar legendario vale la pena aunque el servicio sea de regular a deficente.
Walk in and take a self-guided tour of the magnificent lobby. And this is a great place to relax for a moment or use the public bathroom.
The hotel is closed "for renovations" since February 2017. No signs of real activity there .
The staff are some of the finest. And plenty of them! Happy to cater to the odd request and do so with a smile. The beds a pretty decent in general. Showers are kinda dated and the bathroom in general feels like a standard Hilton. Aside from that thigh the room is spacious and has some class that stands it out from most normal/boring hotels you'll get to stay at. Decore remains classy through the hotel including the elevators.
