Legendary top hotel in the heart of Manhattan New ...

Legendary top hotel in the heart of Manhattan New York on Parklane, a stone's throw from Central station, Fifth avenue, Broadway and Central Park. The hotel simply exudes the splendor and glory of the successful New York of yesterday and today. Numerous major film legends and presidents were guests and the hotel has not lost any of its authentic aura. The world-famous clock in the lobby that was shown in numerous Hollywood films bears witness to this. You can eat there in numerous restaurants. You name it lobster, beef, Japanese cuisine ... One better and more beautiful than the other (would now be closed for renewal until 2020). The bars of which the bull and bear bar is the most popular are also class. In the more than cozy seats or at the bar you can chat with your colleagues or friends while you closely follow the evolution of the fair on the screen and enjoy a delicious Waldorf salad with a refreshing glass (and the choice is extensive!) For afternoon tea or a small dish you can go to the elegant bar at the entrance hall. The rooms are spacious, luxurious and very cozy. The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Start spreading the news ..... New York NewYork .... here I am!

One of the biggest lobbies I have ever seen in a hotel. When you walk in you get overwhelmed. It is just magnificent. By the lobby they have a nice restaurant and also comfy chairs to sit on.

The skyscraper was finished in 1931. Its architects were the Schultze and Weaver cabinet. The name of this hotel is a reference to William Waldorf Astor, Viscount Astor.
A magnificent pendulum (which sounds) is located in the center of the reception hall.
The Hilton hotel group plans to build other hotels called Waldorf Astoria in Florida, at the Walt Disney World Resort and in California, in Beverly Hills.
The Americans nickname this skyscraper the hyphen in reference to the script (hyphen in English) that was in the name of this skyscraper (Waldorf -Astoria) and that symbolized the bridge that united the Waldorf and Astoria hotels. The skyscraper is a luxury hotel with first class services and suites.

I have been to the Waldorf for events and drinks and I can honestly say that it is the gem of the city! Every person who comes to this city should go there at least once in their lives, even if it just to take pics!

It was an awesome trip and our stay was truly magical , to top it off we had Franky K at the door on our last day , whom got us our taxi and ensured we stay hydrated for the ride with bottled water , he helped us with our bags and had an amazing personality , that's the last thought and face we see , that's gonna want to take Ilya back !

Although I wasn't a guest here, I visited here to see my aunt. It was very luxurious, and provided great service, it was very clean, and tidy. I recommend people to visit here but it must be very costly.

A very lovely hotel in the heart of Manhattan. The hotel featured everything about Old New York that I wanted to see. Everything was layered in art deco style and luxurious appointments abounded. The room itself was very nice, although some parts seemed slightly dated as opposed to representative of the style the outside and the lobby portrayed. However, it was still very nice. One negative is that our thermostat was stuck and the room stayed very warm. Upon calling the front desk and then having a maintenance worker check out the unit, the only thing he could do to fix it was to unplug the electricity. Nothing else was done to fix it while we were there. Also, the maid staff was very forceful about checking on us at the most inopportune times. Apparently sleeping past 7:30 is frowned upon.

The whole hotel needs an upgrade. Some plugs do not work. No plug near my bed. The complimentary wifi is rudimentary and they're kidding if they expect me to pay for 'advanced' wifi in this day and age.

The hotel enjoys the charm of tradition in the 5 * sector, is very centrally located in Manhattan, Metro nearby. Some rooms are older and look worn, rooms on the 12th floor are more open to families. Wi-Fi for a fee, free only in the lobby, so the seats are searched there. A jug of beer costs USD 13 from the minibar.

Beautiful hotel - service at the breakfast bar area could be better, as we sat and waited for 15 minutes and while people walked by, no one served us and ignored our request for coffee. If you won't serve me coffee, will you put a coffee maker in my room?

The var service at any of their 4 bars is horrific. The bulls and bears bar has to win the award for the rudest and most pathetic service in NYC. Too bad, because the atmosphere is fun and lively.

I came to NY for a dream vacation and decided to make it one I wouldn't regret. So I chose to stay in the historical Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Well when I checked in I was truly impressed by the grandeur of the hotel lobby. However, upon getting into my original room which was upgraded I noticed that all I could hear was the street noise from the adjacent hotels limo service. After relocating to a new room which seemed to be better at first appearance but that was further from true. The rooms climate control would only get hotter and not cool down and when I inquired about it I was told that I could only turn the heat off and open a window, which someone would have to come and open, because it was a historic site. My third night I could hear the conversations of the guest in the next room as they casually discussed their day. I am truly disappointed that I paid extra to upgrade my room and then discover that I have had better stays in the Hampton Inn. This was a treat for our 20th anniversary and although NY did not disappoint the Waldorf certainly did.

Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience at the Waldorf Astoria. A few weeks ago, I took my wife to New York City on a quick weekend vacation. We were excited to stay at the Waldorf Astoria as it has a great reputation as a nice hotel. Upon checking in and getting to our room, we were a bit disappointed. The size of the room was fine, but it was very outdated. Additionally, the shower barely provided hot water. The hotel, at least the rooms, are in desperate need of renovation.

The last night of our stay we barely got any sleep. Right before bed, the front desk called our room and asked us to identify ourselves. It was strange, but I provided my name. The receptionist stated that she need to send security to our room to confirm our identities. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, good and bad, and never had this happen before.

About an hour later, after we were asleep, we were awoken by a security guard knocking on the door. He asked for my name and ID card. After speaking with him, and asking him what this was about, he didn't provide an answer, thanked me, and left. We went back to sleep.

Approximately one hour later, we were awoken again by two security guards knocking loudly on the door. Frustrated this time by the poor service and/or harassment by the hotel, I answered and asked them what they needed. They advised that they needed to once again confirm our names for the hotel records. I gave them our names and closed the door.

The next morning, after getting very little sleep, we went to speak to the front desk. The manager acted surprised by the incident but provided no reason for the disturbance. She insured us that she would look into the matter and mail us a letter with a free night to the Waldorf. Almost three weeks later and no letter or "free night" voucher has arrived.

I would avoid staying at the Waldorf. Not only is the hotel extremely overpriced, the accommodations are sub-par, and the service is horrible. This is surprising for the brand given the excellent quality and service we were provided by the Waldorf in Orlando. I DO NOT recommend staying at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

This hotel was great. Awesome service and the prices were not as bad as I thought they would be. My only little complaint would be that since it's an older building, there are not a lot of power outlets.

This hotel is affordable. Super clean and comfortable. The room I got felt like home with the big drapes covering the windows. Staffs are nice, friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is cozy and lovely almost like being home feeling kinda way. Overall, great hotel and affordability is key in picking to stay at this hotel when visiting nyc.

Recently stayed at Waldorf for our 5 year anniversary. The level of service was lacking. There was a long wait at registration and no attention to detail. Called day prior to set up champagne, etc available in room at check in. After 3 hours in room nothing was delivered and no request on file.......there was no service follow up asking how to remedy the situation. Hotel is visually stunning and lots of history and location was convenient but for being a top tiered hotel I was expecting more.

Excellent location, grand entrance hall breathing atmosphere, very friendly staff and nice big rooms. Rooms are a bit dated but fairly priced, we had some intermittent WiFi problems (check the cable are connected and a reset of the access point solved it). Skip breakfast as it's incredibly overpriced. No real benefits to staying here as Hilton honours (diamond gave no real advantages whatsoever).

WORST HOTEL EVER. Not only did we have to wait forever for service when we got there, but they made us put our luggage on a cart, then changed their mind, so we had to drag our luggage up through the lobby and into our rooms. Not to mention they lost the car keys when we arrived. There were stains all over the place, the ripped wallpaper was taped back up with masking tape. You can tell how old everything really is. The rooms were extremely small, with no fridge, microwave, chair. It was basically 2 beds - not even queens (THAT ENDED UP GIVING ME BEDBUGS), a tv, and a bathroom. wifi wasn't even included. terrible service. terrible rooms. just awful. The rooms didn't match the pictures shown online from the site. I have pictures of everything, although It's not allowing me to post them. The best word to describe this place is ghetto.

Dream place in the city of the Sky Line, where dreams come true. The situation of the hotel, privileged.
The hotel one more dream. Everything you can ask for, he has, everything one hopes can be offered, too. In a privileged place in the city. A luxury to indulge yourself.

It's an ok hotel. Not water it was back in the glory days for sure. They use a very strong air freshener everywhere which smells really cheep and awful. You'd get the same experience at a budget hotel.

Stayed during the Blizzard of 2016. Upon check in, we upgraded at a very reasonable cost to a two room suite with two baths. Beautiful rooms and a great staff. Delayed flight required us to stay another night and they gave us the same room for the same price. Overall a very nice experience - it is on my list of favorite hotels in the country.

Hotel looked great, wasn't abke to get a drink at any of the bars. When we finally got a bartender in the champagne bar we asked for a menu of the drinks, he said they didn't have one? But you have a menu on your website haha. He was probably pissed that he was losing his job along with everyone else. The staff didn't seem cheerful at all so we left.

We just quickly stopped in to catch our breath after a little bit of walking. I don't know if this is the actual place we stopped but it seemed the closest to the one we stopped at. I cannot comment on the quality as I was only there shortly but it seemed nice.

Overall it was pretty good but I was offered complimentary primate entertainment and the monkeys were untalented and horrible and during the act I started chanting overrated and then one of the chimps snatched a 3 month old baby girl from my hands and proceeded to take it apart piece by piece and proceeded to eat each and every ounce of meat off of my daughter while displaying poor supper time etiquette

My friends and I went for dinner during restaurant...

My friends and I went for dinner during restaurant week at Bull and Bear. I got the onion gratinne, the skirt steak, and the res velvet cake. There were 5 of us, and they sat us at a table that would have comfortably fit 3 for dinner and it definitely made me feel like we weren't valued customers (which we probably weren't since we were restaurant week customers). This table was apparently meant for cocktails only, and was not the dinner seating area.

Anyways, the onion gratinne was overly salty, and the steak was cooked perfectly with good marinade, but the meat itself wasn't of high quality. Some of my friends had the burger and they said that was great, but it tasted dry and there was too much bread to meat for my taste. The red velvet cake was good, a little rich for my taste but still great.

As a side, we ordered a lobster mac and cheese and that was fantastic, possibly the best I have had.

Overall, I would give the restaurant experience a 3. The server was friendly, and service was above average, but the food and price (even for restaurant week) felt lacking.

I give this review a 4 for the location. If you have time, definitely stop by the main libby upstairs. It just feels like history there, and is the type of place that I think keeps nyc traditions alive. The old glitz and glamour that has faded a little over time to give it some sepia class.

At a memorial Sloan Kettering conference and regret staying at this hotel. I am currently at the hotel and wished I had stayed elsewhere. The service is terrible, the beds are small and uncomfortable , I changed rooms and they didn't even offer to help me move my suitcases. They seemed annoyed anytime I went to the front desk. It took me one hour to check in without an apology. The service at Motel 6 is much better and they don't charge you 600$

We treated ourselves to a couple nights here whilst on holiday from the UK with our 2yo son.

Downstairs area is stunning, bars and restaurants are every bit as glamorous as you'd expect them to be. Service was exceptional (as it is most places in the US - though not without the tip expectation, which is always a surprise for us travellers) and we wanted for nothing.

The room, despite its amble size and grandeur was a little bit of a let down due to it looking so tired. I understand the economics of renovating a hotel room and that the loss of earnings make it largely prohibitive, but our room (which had a great view down Park Av) was in dire need of a redecoration. Wallpaper had patches coming off, curtains were damaged a little and the blinds were 3 different types due to various replacements over the years, bathroom had condensation damage (which had obviously been painted over a number of times - pro tip: this doesn't fix the problem).

We asked for a microwave for our son's food which came up rapidly to furnish our little kitchen (which was a welcome surprise). Also requested some milk for him which came up in a little pitcher and cost me $40! Most expensive milk I've ever bought, possibly the most expensive liquid.

All in all, it was a holiday and the cost was insignificant in comparison with the memories we'll take home; and you don't go to the Waldorf on a budget.

The rooms are not the nicest of any Waldorf Astoria; this hotel is special, however, in its level of service, as well as it's convenient location.

The staff of the hotel has truly been a pleasure. This hotel is owned and run by next-level people. The experience has been personalized to us. They have performed regular check ups as well as helped to celebrate a special occasion.

It's location on Park Avenue is perfect. It is in the middle of everything; you can be to any landmark in 10 minutes, and the best shopping in NYC is a stone's throw away.

The rooms will not blow your hair back, but all and all, there is no doubt in my mind that this hotel is something special, and we will be back.

No longer an upscale destination. Great service and couldn't ask for better attention as a top tier member. But, the facilities and amenities are sub par. Even renovated rooms are dated and 3 star at best. As a nasty smoker this was my go to hotel until that was phased out. If willing to spend the same or more then there are many better options within a few blocks and for the same $ or less you can get more modern amenities across the street at the DoubleTree. (prefer the warm cookies instead of the drink tickets anyway). Not a disappointment to see it closed for a real face lift this time.
