The spa treatment was acceptable and Caitlin was lovely, professional and attentive and capable of massage. However we had a massage and 3 course dinner booked. That s where it fell short. The soup of the day was leek and potato, worst soup I ve ever tasted. I cook better at home and that s how I rate where I eat out. If I can do it better then I m sorry why am I paying to eat out. The mushroom starter had toast that was cold and rubbery which reminded me of hospital toast. The mushrooms were rubbery also. The main course of confit pork belly. Yuck the base was hard and crispy the skin was soggy and not edible. Even I crisp up pork fat to make it edible. The mashed potatoes with black pudding wasn t very warm the only saving grace to that dish was the additional cost, leeks and spinach side dish. Well cooked and buttery. We didn t stay for the third course which was desert as I couldn t face yet another disappointment. This is the second time I ve eaten at this restaurant this year and this is the second time I ve been disappointed. The plates of food looked all arty and delicious, more style than substance. You have a long way to go. Get the basics right then focus on style. All I ate this evening was a pretty dish of nothing great.

Meh. It was ok. Went for a half day spa, dinner, bed and breakfast. The spa was lovely and the staff in there were great. The swimming pool and jaccuzi are available for use by all the hotel guests and so was extremely busy. We could not get in the jaccuzi at all. The room was ok. I have to say I expected more. The room was dirty in areas (mainly the bathroom). The sheets didn't fit the bed properly and were so rough. Dinner wasn't that tasty but breakfast was lovely. The room was quiet and we couldn't hear other guests which was great and so we were able to sleep well. Overall I wouldn't go again.

I recently had a spa day here and it was one of the best I've had.
I like the fact there are lots of different places to relax, and you can easily spend the whole day enjoying the different parts. There is even an outside terrace for sunny days
Everything is clean and well kept,
The staff were all friendly and helpful and the robes/slippers supplied were good quality.
We had a fabulous time and I only wish I could have stayed longer!

Nice food but very busy. Unfortunately no one picked the dropped food (dropped by waiter) and I was afraid as there were elderly people and young children in our group.
Food ok but not a great Sunday roast choice for such a large venue.

Just played golf on the national course what an absolutely stunning course in immaculate condition will definitely be back to play again. Some of the boys played the lakes course and that was just as good. Food in the golf clubhouse after was very good and reasonably priced can't wait to come back again.

Very nice resort.. all food was lovely for the few days my family stayed over Christmas with the only exception being the roast potatoes for christmas day were excessively dry.. my only big annoyance for the time stayed was the fact they do not sell original coke or original Pepsi only the diet versions of them.. the fact that they are making my choice for me by not selling them is extremely annoying for such a venue.. I do not like the diet versions and do not drink a lot of alcohol so my only choice was orange juice or coffee.. please sort this out especially over festive periods, customers should be able to buy what they want especially something so basic

A very nice resort and a great weekend getaway. Sraff are very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant staff are very attentive.

Room was very decent in size, but could have had a fridge. Would have said 5 stars, but you can easily gear noise if someone is outside. Not all channels on the TV worked too.

But these are minor things, but the noise issue from outside could be improved.

I went to the Vale because my sister was staying there for her wedding.
The location is lovely and quite easy to get to. My sisters room was large and spacious while most importantly being clean and well presented.
The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. Helping me with some last minute wedding preparations even though I wasn't staying at the hotel.

All in all my experience was very good.

Easy to find and wonderful surroundings. Good sized room with a large, comfortable bed and a balcony. Good selection of facilities with wide choice of food and drink, though the dinner included in some packages has a very limited menu.

The Lakes course is probably the most interesting course in South Wales. The 8th and 12th would be signiture holes anywhere.
The National is long and hard but again has some memorable and rewarding holes. You'll definitely need a buggy!

Stayed July 20th 2020, absolutely brilliant service. All social distanced and very safe. I can't praise them enough for making my stay comfortable, very safe, with great food and drinks. Well done to all who gave me a fantastic evening given the circumstances.

The staff are generally fantastic but the hotel is cold in the room, restaurant and bar which spoils the time you spend there, especially if you have a cold sensitive partner! The food was good but over priced, this was one of the most expensive meals we've had but definitely not the best by any stretch. It's a shame because the hotel has great potential but just feels like it needs investment.
Pool and spa area are greath though!

Nice comfortable hotel in the outskirts of Cardiff. It felt more like the country than the city. Staff were friendly and the whole place felt a little more classy than other similar venues in South Wales. Restaurant food was good quality and well served. Ambience was also pretty good. It was a little tricky to find, but sat nav really helped.

My friend bought me a spar day as a birthday present. It was a lovely day we had hour treatment of our choice which had to be booked in advance and the day you wanted to attend. We had lovely buffet lunch with juices in with price and plenty there. Other drinks you had to pay for but plenty of water machines around. Full use of all the facilities including pool jacuzzi and steam rooms. Overall we had lovely day a lovely treat for a special occasion.
