A very beautiful museum, ENTRANCE is Free, however PARKING is $15. The architecture of the buildings themselves are quite interesting and elaborate. The art that is shown varied from paintings, sculptures, books, and even photography. It emphasizes on Latin American culture and history. Photography without flash is allowed. There is a beautiful calm nature driven garden. There are certain of limit areas that are held for research. There is a cafe in which one may buy food prices are moderately high however.

This used to be a 5 star experience for me, but they changed their cafe menu (eliminated many things, but they still have at least 5 different items. Of these, only 1 item had decent quality bread. Apart from that, they seemed to downgrade the ingredients all while upgrading the prices. Also, they close way to early as if they only want tourists to come while we're all at work. What happened to the whole, "park and enjoy during traffic" campaign? We dont need wild entertainment, just cheaper rush hour parking than paying 10$. Theres little incentive to opt out of driving while one is ALREADY in their car, but there is incentive to enjoy the underutilized space and uplift our society from the aggressive traffic ghetto. The city (whom I thnk now owns it outright?) would truly be benefitting our emergency response and other expenses by getting more cars off the 405 during peak hours. 1 of the biggest causes of accidents is car congestion during peak hours. Think of all the money we could be saving by just enjoying the Getty at later hours, more in-line with our average free-time schedule?!
Los Angeles Cultural Center. Free. You do not have any excuses, you have to visit and to leap into immense cultural journey o Human kind , from ancient Egyptian civilization to our modern days. Have a relaxing break in manicured gardens overlooking busy LA Freeways...
Every single equality is superlative; I just cannot believe that, in all my trips to LA over the years, I never once visited here! The size and location and layout and sheer jaw dropping beauty of the buildings themselves. The quality and diversity of such a Kane-like art collection (I never got to the gardens--next time). The light, the light, the light. The phone-charging stations outside the gift shop, where you could plug your phone into a lockable box and come back to retrieve it fully charged. The immaculate trams. The polite, friendly, respectful guests. That all this is FREE. Wow.
It's free and you can get there using public transportation, even on a Sunday! The views are really nice, there are a lot of spots to simply sit and enjoy a sunny morning or afternoon or have a picnic or enjoy a snack or meal from the cafeterias. There is also a whole building just for family activities and a floor where you can sketch. It has a little tram that will get you up the hill and it's also free. They only charge for parking $15 per car.
Amazing place, with a scenic view of LA. The museum and the exhibitions are really high quality. A must seen! Oh, and it s free, but the parking is quite expensive.
This is a MUST if you are ever nearby. FREE, but you pay for parking. Outstanding gardens. You'll want to pay attention to the info sheet, sign up for the guided tours.
The parking fee is steep ($200) but the admission is free. Great collection of painting and European furnitures. Recommend to get their free audio guide too.
I love this place and I seriously can't believe it's free. You can literally spend all day there and still not get enough. The garden can be appreciated by everyone and the art is just great. Every time you go, you will find something new or notice something new in the art or even architecture. You also get great views of L.A
I m sure there is nothing that I can say that hasn t already been said so just go. My 16 & 17 year old sons came here in 8th grade for a week long school field trip covering many areas of LA. This was near the top of their recommendation for our family trip to LA. They loved it and were very proud to take us to their favorites. Recommended by teens so you can t get better than that!
This art museum is art itself! Nestled on a hill overlooking Second City with LA in the distance, and the Pacific Ocean on the horizon, the meticulous grounds are also an art form of beauty. We managed to see the 'Beyond the Nile' exhibit in it's last few days, toured the Renaissance exhibit and enjoyed lunch in the terrace cafeteria. Absolutely stunning, every part of it.
The Getty Museum has been on my list since it opened many years ago, and it did not disappoint. Exhibits range from familiar and famous artists like Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and Pissarro to avant-garde installation works and unexpected collections. The grounds are spectacular. Sculptures by Calder, Miro and others are displayed in superbly landscaped gardens. Views of Los Angeles and the Pacific are stunning.
My first time in LA, this was the most awesome surprise I could have gotten. Love the art works but seriously the garden and the views make it even better
Highly organised, clean restrooms and clean drinking water. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery views of Los Angeles form top of the hill. There is also a train if you don't like to walk up to the hills. The collection of artifacts are ancient and beautiful. Highly recommended.
It's a beautiful place to have a great time you only pay for parking and the rest is free. You can walk up there or take a rail. I recommend the walk. You get a great view of Los Angeles on the way up.
Even the property is artistically laid out. Plan to spend a couple hours here. Lots of outdoor and indoor space to observe. Don't miss the beautiful garden, either. Free admission, pay for parking.
Such a beautiful place. I could have spent the whole day here just admiring the buildings and gardens. Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting LA and anyone who lives here and hasn't been yet!
The Getty is always a wonderful getaway. Everything about it from the location, the view, the garden, the events, over the exhibitions, to the architecture. I have fond memories of taking my children to the family days, my aunt for the art, my friend for the show and my love for a stroll.
I am very grateful for the Getty Foundation for presenting, conserving, and interpreting the world's artistic legacy. I feel the role of science is to push forward and through. Regardless. While the role of art is to follow close behind to make sure the world will hold together. To give us a reason to hold together. To draw our attention to the rifts, to initiate some shifts and to refine all that has been accomplished.
Breathe taking views of the city, mountains, and ocean. Went on a very clear day, so you could see Catalina. I m told this is very rare. As for the exhibits, they too are worth the visit. All the paintings and sculptures are wonderful, and beautifully done. A masterclass of art, indeed. If you live in LA, or are visiting, it s the perfect spot to indulge the cuties culture.
An excellent Museum from a wealthy donor, it could have made a better impact in the city if it was centrally located with easy accessibility. Its buildings and location are monumental but isolated from the city and neighborhood.
The Getty definitely brings back all the childhood memories. Back when I was a kid, I did not understand how betting works, but I definitely loved the experience watching all the horses race and the excitement.
A beautiful place to spend a whole day!!! So much to look (paintings, sculptures, pictures, garden/horticulture, architectures & the views) & explore!!! A must visit place if you're around!!!
I love this place, not only because it has a great collection of art and awesome exhibitions, but because the architecture, gardens and location. It has an amazing view of LA! It's a must-visit landmark in SoCa.l

2nd year here in a row. Stunning museum with a huge beautiful garden. You may spend the hole day here and you won t get bored. Get the audio guide and hang around enjoying the art pieces and being transported to different worlds, cultures and beliefs. My best art center ever.
This place is such a treat. I recommend getting the audio tour, a bottle of wine, and hit pause and talk with your companion, date, imaginary friend after each section.
Simply the best! Have a lot of arts from renaissance to contemporary. The ambient is extremely pleasant, with nice gardens and a nice view for LA, and all that for free!
I remember thinking this was the first architecture of the 21st century I had seen when I visited when it first opened. The collection of art has been improved since then. You could spend the day here easily. Go on a sunny day Amazing.
Loved this museum need to return with 4 or 5 hours to enjoy the view, garden, and art! My family was not as enthralled as I was. I saw Monet s there I had never seen before.
