A museum doesn't get better than this. Elegant and spacious architecture with plenty of diverse exhibits. It has breathtaking views of the city as well. And, an enormous beautifully created garden. I highly recommend.

Absolutely stunning. My favorite place in LA and one of my favorite places in the world. I'm always at peace when I'm up there, it is so magically beautiful. I mostly go just to sit and read or meditate, The Getty is very close to my heart!

A great place to spend either a few hours or a whole day. Well worth the visit since admission is free (parking is $15). The beautiful grounds are almost as enjoyable as the galleries and exhibits.

Beautiful place and spectacular views.

Update (6/2019)- visited again, and discovered that if you are in and out in under an hour, parking is free. This is hard to do bc the grounds are beautiful (and tram ride up is lovely!), but if you ve been there more than once, it is possible.

Beautiful artwork here! AMAZING VIEW from hilltop. Even the building, walls, and walkways are made with beautiful stone! Some contain fossil impressions, mainly of leaves. Admission is free, but parking is $15 a car.

Amazing amazing amazing!

Amazing amazing amazing!

The Getty Center is a huge place and filled with beautiful and wonderfully curated artwork. I am in awe of how impeccably maintained it is, given the size of the place. If you need it a break from being indoors, the garden is equally as breathtaking. I went on the garden tour, and was told that guests are always encouraged to to sit, run, and roll around the perfectly manicured grassy hill.

There are thoughtful touches around the place that adds to the experience, like the tram that takes you up the hill to the museum and the free umbrellas in designated stands in case you want to shield yourself.

What makes this place even more incredible is that admission is free! I would ve been more than happy to pay to visit, because it is so so beautiful. But the fact that it s free adds to the wonder of this place. I could not recommend it more. I visited twice while I was visiting LA. Go early as the Getty closes at 5pm, and you definitely need at least half a day to explore.

First time going, and it was lovely. if youre ride sharing they have a dedicated spot for drop off and pick up. one of the best things about this place is that it's free, there's no admission fee. you get off the tram and you're set. the art they have is amazing, from paintings starting from the 1300 to photography from the early 20th century and the architecture of the buildings are art in themselves, and the garden is wonderful as well, almost seems like a completely place. one thing I've seen is that it's best to go during the week, I went on a Thursday and was on the first tram of the day and by 12pm people were pouring in and it was somewhat crowded but not excessively

A garden like no other. The scale is like no other. The collection of art is incredible. Never seen so much travertine in my life. I got to see a Van Gogh. The views. Oh. My. God. The views.
Best museum I ve ever been too. Go during off season and on a day it s not busy.

The Getty is an awe -inspiring malgamoth of galleries/garden's with a good cafe serving practically anything you could want to top it off. There is so much to see from the beautiful medieval galleries to photography which I missed to French Louis the something bed's to rembrandts and a delightful section on books. There also quite photogenic views surrounding the garden. Ensure you catch the monorail going up or it's a long hike to the top!Side note: It seems LA is excellent for galleries. I wasn't very impressed with Hollywood itself, by the Chinese Theater but it's worth a quick look just to take a picture of your favourite entertainer/actor/ musician. Otherwise head to santa monica you won't regret it.

Favorite LA destination. Occasionally, I use it as an extended office. We have our favorites pieces. Overall, it's so well done. While we visit our favorite works it's the special exhibits which create urgency. Always something interesting going on. Great restaurants. We're so fortunate to have this resource available. Visit and visit often. Become a supporter.

I was here from 10:00 to 18:00 and 8 hours is not enough to fully appreciate all the art at the center. The center has the richest collection of artworks, including the portrait of Louis XIV by Hyacinthe Rigaud. The center specializes in Renaissance paintings and sculptures, although the 1st century roman sculptures and other, smaller collections are also good attractions. All exhibitions, including the tours, are all free.
A brief, course security check is required before boarding a shuttle that slowly transports you to the center. Upon arrival, you are greeted by a few outdoor sculptures. Garden and Architectural tours start as early as 10:30. Tours to the special exhibitions (also free) are also available. There are cafes and restaurants but they are costly to say the least. The shops are more than merely Getty merchandise but also a collection of books on old art, photography etc.
However, I would not recommend Getty Center to people without knowledge or appreciation of old art. Some of the tours and descriptions require prior knowledge of the renaissance, the bible, greek mythology and famous artists.

Amazing place. Its a massive place with lots of exhibits. Makes it a little difficilt to keep the attention for kids. You can easily spend all day here, and the location gives you beautiful views of the city at all times. Definitely going again.

One of the best things to do in LA is to visit the gardens and the museum at Getty Center. Bring a good camera. Don t come here is it s gloomy. Don t come if it s rainy. Come before sunset. Take photos of LA traffic.

So gorgeous. Best view of LA. Also so many buildings full of art to explore. Great for kids and art lovers. Plan on spending a full day here if you want to see it all. We got here about an hour and a half before closing and it wasn't enough time to scratch the surface. The gardens are also beautiful. I believe it was free other than parking. Great sunday afternoon activity

What a gift to the world! Thank you for letting me enjoy a magnitude of art. Plan for 30-40 minutes in line for the tram. You can spend 4 hours here and still not see the whole place. You can bring food in too!!

Mass Effect 1. It reminds me A LOT the Citadel designed in Mass Effect 1, very minimalist, white, with curves. If you are a particular fan of the first game and intend to visit L.A., I suggest you to go to The Getty Center (do not confuse with The Getty Villa at Pacific Palisades, that has more of a God of War atmosphere). I recommend you as well to sightsee DTLA and after going back home, playing L.A. Noire to try to see the street you saw in real life portrayed in the game.

Beautiful architecture and collections that date from ancient to modern and from sculptures to photographs. Architecture tour was interesting. Could spend an entire day here if you like art.

Truly a beautiful architectural wonder and collection of art. A must visit if you are in Los Angeles - go in the afternoon before sunset and you ll witness some magic during golden hour. Parking is $15 or $10 if you arrive after 3. We parked in the lot at the bottom of the drive across the street and walked up to the tram and it was a breeze. The tram is quick and carries a lot more people than you think, and then you re at the main campus and on your way to some wonder! Enjoy the sunset from the countless terraces, explore the beautifully manicured gardens, and take in all the priceless art.

The Getty lived up to its reputation from our perspective, with a great selection of art, sculpture and interesting exhibits. As a specifically designed facility it sits proudly on the edge of one of the many ridges in the LA region. The building design and accompanying gardens provides a preface setting for what is on offer

Surprised at all the negative reviews here. Yes, the admission might be pricey, but it's actually much cheaper than what it usually is during the day. What's more, you actually get to experience the entire Academy in a more intimate manner than you would during the day, so it's a perfect venue for date night.

Beautiful museum both inside and outside. Terrific views of the city, mountains and ocean. Not very large, but some nice artwork with rotating exhibits every 2 or 3 months. There are large patches of grass where you will find people sitting, reading, eating, or just basking in the sun.

One of the best museums in Los Angeles. Astonishing view of the metropolis, and the beach. Large collection of art, and rotating exhibits of contemporary as well as classic masterpieces. Beautiful gardens, and areas to rest. The cafe offers multiple options of food (which all are good).

It's a nice museum, and the location makes for some pretty excellent landscape photos for your into that. I only gave three stars though because the main thing about the Getty is that the museum is what you really come for, not the artwork. The collection is good, but certainly not as good as other museums. Parking can also be a pain. If you are in the area, it's a nice place to visit. I highly recommend coming at a non busy time. Otherwise, you could get stuck in some pretty long lines.

Amazing art and beautiful views of the city. $15 to park but free admission. Highlights from our group included the French furniture, the photography, and the (temporary exhibit) London pop art

Amazing museum from the art to the architecture to the gardens. The permanent exhibits are amazing, as are the temporary ones. Parking is easy and plentiful in the parking garage (and reasonablypriced). There is a nice free tram from the parking structure to the entrance. Lots of walking. It can be slippery in wet conditions. The Cafe had many cafeteria choices but was only average and very pricey. Plenty of choices for picky kids, though. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will visit again and again.

Great place to take the family or a date. It's free to get in and you can bring your own food. You just have to pay for parking. There are many activities for the young ones. The guided tours are really fun and informative. They have restaurants as well as carts where you can buy snacks, as well as alcohol. Plenty of shade and the gardens are beautiful where you can have a picnic.

Gorgeous location and views all around. A variety of mostly older artwork that makes for a fantastic first date. There is a shuttle that takes you up the hill from the parking lot to the museum.
