Wonderful cultural museum. Great architecture and gardens. This is the type of place you want to take your family to and spend the day there. The wait for the tram is the only annoying thing about going there, but you soon forget it once you become immersed in everything it has to offer.

Absolutely to visit. The collections are not the best ever, especially for those used to the European or east cost museums, but they are interesting. The Italian paintings from 1300 and 1400 are unbelievable. The museum is fantastic from an architectural point of view and the view of Los Angeles is stunning. The visit is free, but you need to pay the parking, 15 $.

Thank goodness for American billionaires snapping up works from across the globe and centralising them for all of us to enjoy! The museum structure is a masterpiece in its own right and you ll need at least 2 full days to get through the collection in detail. Start with Greek and Roman marbles and then renaissance furniture before post moderns - drool!

Fabulous!

Great Free Saturdays in the summertime with cool music.

Couldn't be a more beautiful place.

Beautiful museum grounds, highly worth visiting. The views of LA are great from here. There are a number of tours that can be taken to add to the visiting experience - architecture, garden, or of specific exhibits. We took the architecture tour to learn more about the style in which the museum was built - it was very informative. The exhibits rotate around also; we checked out a couple of them. It's a fun place to take visitors. You can easily spend the whole day there to see all the exhibits. If coming on the weekend, I recommend coming as early as you can to beat the afternoon crowds! Bring a picnic to have in the gardens. $15 parking, museum entrance is always free.

This is a truly amazing experience. The Getty, both outside and inside, is beautiful. Nestled in the Hollywood Hills, you take a tram from the parking garage to get to the actual museum entrance. I am not a fan of heights but this was a More

A must go to museum! Go early so you can park in the garage (costs $15.00 for a day) and catch the train up to the museum. Be prepared to be wowed. I suggest you take one or as many tours lead by some very knowledgeable dosents. You will learn so much about the Master's paintings as well as Renaissance Era religious relics. We were astounded by all we learned about those works that we would've not realized had we not taken the tour. There is so much to see so wear comfy shoes. We spent six hours there! The food at the Getty it's pretty good for a place like this. There are three levels of eateries. We had a sandwich and a soda at the cafe and it was pretty tasty. Surprisingly it was not as over priced as some museums we've visited.

This was our favorite stop in Los Angeles and I really hope you get to go there too.

I can't help but think of my high school Physics teacher/ Swim coach when I heard the word "Getty". He was known for his no BS swimming practices and his funny physics problems involving monkeys, because monkeys are funny. No relation to my knowledge. Back to the review...

I am not much of an art fan, but dang! How can you not like this place? This location is on a hill top far far above or around the smog. There is a crazy garden that reminds me of a puzzle maze or Alice in Wonderland. The best thing about this experience is its FREE!! Of course nothing is truly free.. there is a charge $10 bucks for parking. Feel free to load up your van or carpool with many people. The view is as beautiful as LA is to you. Not the same as the Hong Kong, New York, or San Francisco view. Still worth seeing. I recommend taking guest from out of town here as part of your LA tour and hit up Pink's, that's a given.

I don't understand the art sculptures or paintings, but it worth it to take a camera (flash off) to take a few pictures. It is amazing work. I've never seen such detail. At least take funny pictures if you get bored and enjoy the free A/C. You may want to bring a snack, because you might stay a while and cafeteria food can get pricey. The fun part is the tram that brings you up the mountain side. Take pictures and bring a date!

The Getty featured their permanent works as well as rotating/visiting exhibits. Rembrandt. Parmigianino.
If you want to look at every piece and read every plaque explaining it, then I would suggest taking more than a day there.
They offer guided tours as well as self guided tours that you take with a headset. I recommend the self guided tour as it is much more detailed and has many more pieces of artwork that is explained. The guided tour features only what the guide wants to highlight.

I love the Getty, this is probably the best museum because of its history (even though its relatively new) and the gardens are magnificent. Watching the sunset from here is beautiful, the fountains are fantastic to photograph, and they even have a place to charge your phone

I love to come here to explore the beautiful grounds, the incredible art, the amazing views, and just to get my cultural fix. This should be a must see for all tourists in the L.A. area, as well as local folk. I come here to see the exhibitions off and on as well. Recommend this place highly, and you don't even have to be an art person per se to appreciate all that this place offers. Seriously.

Every museums have their own uniqueness. They have their own point of interest. The Getty offers more than usual art collections, it offers nice scenery, nice garden, unique building design. From this location we can see LA from a high point of view. It's a must see while you are in LA. It's free anyway.

The mere fact that this place is free and open to the public is amazing on its own, but the level in which this place is managed and constantly rotating art exhibits rivals many well know art museums I ve been too. The Getty has a fabulous curated collection of various art pieces and works that offer a glimpse into the past. There s something for everyone here; and the complex itself is an architectural marvel. Great way to spend a day. Don t forget to enjoy the views from the top of the complex and take in the LA skyline.

Fantastic experience! Everything is top quality. Most beautiful views, nice architecture and amazing Manet exhibition made our visit most enjoyable! Would love to return again soon.

I went to this art center in January 2018. Its design style is very special and it is very beautifully built. On the top of the mountain, you can watch the panoramic view of Los Angeles. Many precious cultural relics and historical materials in the center are worth watching and learning

So much fun! But one of the art admirers was unnecessarily pushy to my girlfriend about standing in line for some reason. That was annoying. Maybe if security could screen for people like that, the Getty Experience would even better. Other than that, fun time and great view!

Anyone who comes to LA and does not visit the Getty, can no longer say they live their lives without regrets. Not only do they house some of the most amazing pieces I have ever seen, the building and landscaping is marvelous. Of all the art museums in all the cities in the 20 countries I have visited, this is easily in the top 3. I couldnt stop taking pictures! The Getty is the number 1 thing to do in LA.

This was by far the best attraction I experienced during my week long vacation in LA. The next time I visit I plan on devoting 2 full days to the center. There's a surplus of cultural enrichment located within this 110 acre campus.

Spent the entire day. First tram up, last tram back. I personally love the architecture, views, and gardens. When there's water again, I will rejoice to have the water features operating. The cafeteria has excellent choices, many healthy. For 3 of us, the tab was almost $60 for lunch. But that's a choice. One could certainly bring a sack lunch. The only complaint I have today, is how they rushed us through the timed exhibit of the replica caves... please give us at least 5 more minutes in each! For the 2 in our party in their 20's, their feedback was that they prefer community created art spaces. They feel the Getty is too removed from reality - too showy - which makes it harder to create a connection with the art. I thought that was interesting and could see their point of view. All in all, an excellent adventure, and I will go back!

One of the most amazing institutions and possible the best place for a picnic when you need a break so bring something delicious. Prepare for $15 parking fee but otherwise the entry is totally free, you can have a free audio guide or just enjoy the views of LA. It's a must see destination for anyone who comes to LA! Don't forget to see Van Gogh and Rembrandts

Great place to see some artwork by the masters along with sculptures, furniture, and overlooks worthy of the gods. Spend at least a few hours here and wear your comfy walking shoes. Parking is 15$ but the museum is free.

This place is fantastic! The building and the grounds are beautiful to hang out on, even if you have no interest in the museum. The food could be improved, as could the tours. The art housed in the museum is second to none, and one could spend hours inside, dissecting each piece.
