I would like to urge most of you looking for a good solid 5 star hotel to reconsider from booking this hotel...it was a terrible mistake. I was urgently in need of a luxury hotel since Four Seasons was overbooked and tried the Ritz luxury suite. During my stay the following is a summary of the turmoil we had: toilet overflowed and had asked to use the toilet down the hall until the next day; asked to check out immediately in the morning as the pipes bursted to the dining area at 6 a.m.; internet was not reliable or almost non existent; food service was appalling and took nearly an hour to get a cup of coffee; the room smelled like bathrooms;the valet was very slow and also gave us the wrong set of car keys;the establishment is apparently going thru new management . I signed up for a week at the Ritz Carlton and found out AFTER the fact it was downgraded to a 4 star hotel. Try The inn above Tide if you want a nice relaxing hotel or the Four Seasons for a business hotel.

Terrible baggage experience at check in. No room service menu in room and having drink lobby lounge and been waiting 30 minutes for wings. Very poor management and service. No one w a brain is involved in watching and making the many employees help patrons. Nice rooms though

Grand old lady. I was looking forward to coming back after 20 years! And yet, arriving at 5.30pm after a 12h flight I was told my suite wasn't yet available. This is unacceptable, the 4-Seasons wouldn't be so careless.

Next morning I complained to the duty manager not just about the room but also that no one had cared to even say sorry. Oh she was now happy to say sorry. Said it over and again but the lack of unsolicited response is ignorant.

Eric in the cocktail bar is class. The doorman is first rate. The staff are impressive, but management seemingly don't care. Shame

Have you ever sat on laurels? They're prickly and irritating. That's how you made me feel. You should be ashamed.

It's less luxurious in Ritz around the world, but I think it's a good location.
Because of the end of the year, the Christmas illuminations were very beautiful.
Jr sweet has only king bets
It would be better if it was twin beds. Free service cookies and apple tea were more delicious than I expected

We had a splendid view, perfect for people-watching the streets below. The sofa sleeper felt less like a sofa sleeper and more like a complete bed, and the Ritz' location was right smack in the market, a short walk from Chinatown and from the trams. As someone who hasn't been to SF in a while, and as a tourist, I couldn't have stayed at a more perfect place to explore the city.

A classic Ritz-Carlton and I almost gave them 4 stars as their service was good for the first few days. However, I found out last night that one of the ladies at the front desk was not so friendly. I d say their service is quite inconsistent. Plus, they did carpet cleaning with vacuum cleaner on a daily basis in the hallway at 3-4AM!!

It's what you'd expect from the Ritz. Nice rooms with marble bathrooms but only the bare minimum to get where tinned to go. Service is good and attentive but the concierges have very little pull for hard to get reservations.

No one assisted at the door and the front desk was a bit hidden. Despite that, the lobby is big and open giving it a grand view. there was fruit infused water available which was great if you walked up the hill to get to the hotel.

Very nice hotel with great service in SF. Located on a hill so you get some nice views and it s quiet. Dislikes - not near any restaurants except two in hotel which are pricey and gym a distance away in hotel basement and steps to get to some rooms which is annoying with luggage. Overall still lives up to Ritz brand and standards

Every stay at the Ritz Carlton SF has been fabulous- the customer service and hospitality is the best in the industry! We have a child with special needs and he is treated liked any other guest and the hotel is understanding about his needs for accommodations and expressing himself differently. We stay on the club level and eat our meals in the lounge- the food, service and ambience are lovely! Leo, Aidan, Rudy and Carmen, who work in the lounge, make us feel right at home and provide very welcoming, attentive customer service! Guest relations has provided a special dessert or treats for the kids in our room (along with a personalized card) when we are celebrating a birthday or other special occasion. We come home feeling completely recharged after each stay at this Ritz!

Have been here for high tea twice. One in Nov and one in Dec. I like the overall experience here. Tea is the only complain. I think they could use better teas here.
Parking here is $15 for the high tea guests which is so much better than its regular rates. Parking can be very busy but they have four people help for the valet parking which is better than Fairmont Hotel.
People here are friendly. Servers for the high tea make you feel welcome. Decorations are nice here. It could be a little loud to have conversations if it is full house. They don't offer high tea every week except for December. You have to call in to ask about their dates for the high tea.
Savory is very tasty. I like its savory better than its sweets. Scones here are great. They make everything in house. Its lemon spread is very tasty. Be sure to put it on your scones. They don't rush you out so you can enjoy and be relax your afternoon time here. It was $80 for Nov and $88 for Dec per person for the traditional afternoon tea. It can go up to $440 depending on type of the afternoon tea you choose.
Overall very positive experience. I think it is a little pricey for the food. However, for the environment and service they offer here, I think it is worth to come once a while.

Had our office holiday party there. If you're the party planner definitely incorporate valet parking for attendees. That aspect made it so easy to get there as it was raining the evening of our event.

We re still in shock How did this hotel get a 4 star? Just the name? We had the smallest and smelliest room. We requested to switch room, but they insisted to open the windows for fresh air. We noticed the nightmare started from the front desk. We requested to be upgraded to a suite hoping to experience the real Ritz-Carlton experience. We were not asking for anything free. We insisted in paying for the difference, instead, one front desk clerk roller her eyes and sighed in front of us with intent, while the other shrugged his shoulders and raised his eyebrow. When did this become a Ritz-Carlton behavior? When did this become a part of luxury, comfort, customer care? When did treating customers this badly become acceptable in any level? Nobody deserved that. Without hesitation, we decided to stay at the Hotel St. Regis and experienced the true meaning of how a 4 star luxury hotel should treat their customer. Genuine smile and simply courteous in every way! Our families and friends will no longer return to Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco for any reason. That's too bad because we loved Parallel 37.

Our stay at the Ritz-Carlton was fabulous! Location, perfect for seeing all the sights. Our room, so comfortable, beautiful and spacious. The club level has spoiled us for life! The staff are referred to as the "ladies and gentleman" of the Ritz-Carlton. Concierges Gabrielle, Alexander and Todd were attentive to our every need, they truly went above and beyond expectation. Evelyn, Leo and so many others truly provided the most exemplary service we have ever experienced. Looking forward to going back very soon!

The Ritz Carlton here is old and outdated. They got rid of the pool in favor of the spa. I can understand that a spa brings in more money than a pool. But, a 5 star hotel should provide a pool.

The L&D HR event was very well organized. The food, service, and room were perfectly suited for the information session. I've attended many professional events in SF, and The Ritz-Carlton is by far the stand-out experience.
