The Ritz-Carlton San Francisco Review

i stay at Ritz Sf. they the the finest SF hotels best spa and great dining.

Food is not great and very over priced. $50 for pancakes, meat, OJ and coffee? Traditional Ritz marbled bathrooms. Towels and bathrobes are not plush like they used to be. Decor in room is tacky. Where is Marriott going with these mergers? Ritz is not what it used to be.

Possibly the best stay we have had at a hotel, perfect end to our honeymoon. Club level is the way to go, lots of snacks and drinks, special concierge, just all around great service. All the staff are super nice and polite, they day good morning/afternoon/evening and make sure everything is going well. It's those little things that really make a stay special. The location is pretty good, far enough away from the hubbub but close enough to walk most places. Right outside of Chinatown which was nice, lots of good food. Couldn't recommend this hotel more.

Dining in ritz is something that makes you feel secured because the food is always good and satisfying. Forgot to take more photos but the courses were really nice

Fantastic hotel. The "ladies and gentlemen" of the Ritz-Carlton certainly know how to service guests. Lots of little touches (lip balm, chocolates and water provided in room), and service everywhere was top notch. Certainly lives up to expectations for a Ritz-Carlton hotel. Would love to stay here again, if given the chance.

I went to the lounge with friends, we had a fine time. The bar keep made a mean side car and my wife had a lemon drop that was fabulous. 9/10 I would go back.

Great lobby bar, good, if fairly simple menu in restaurant. Staff is very helpful.

The street in front of the hotel needs to be repaved that is ridiculous for major hotel in the major city to have that many potholes messing up my front wheel drive disgusting

We went for Teddy Bear Tea. Mediocre event and service. The kids all get a cute Teddy Bear and a few sweets and sandwiches. For the price, they should offer adults a glass of champagne. Instead, you have to pony-up $15-30 a glass for Champagnes that sells for less that that per bottle. Not worth it.

One of the best hotels of San Francisco. Great location close to downtown, pier 39, Columbus strip and etc. Great service.

Awful.....the valet wait time for me this evening was one hour and fifteen minutes! The service personnel possessed NO customer service skills including the management team that was on site.

We have stayed at many hotels in San Francisco, and the Ritz Carlton is simply the best.

Room was decent. If I had to nitpick, TV was crooked - loose from stand; previous person had left their chicken bones outside the window. Otherwise service was great and location is convenient.

WHAT A WONDERFUL CELEBRATION EXPERIENCE WITH FAMILY!

Monumental building with classically chic but small lobby. The rooms are very good but not exceptional (e.g. air conditioning whistles and the sink didn't drain). Also, we asked the front desk for a plate and set of cutlery, but it never got delivered!

Car service had trouble locating location due to nearby tunnel.

The people on the front desk weren't the friendliest, platinum members do not get free breakfast like spg hotels.

Booked a standard room via their website Checkin: Super friendly. late night, all easy Checkout: Fast, good. Room: Very nice room. Bed was a bit dusty, but overall fine. Quiet. Good sleep. Location: Easy to walk where you want to go. Overall: One of the leading hotels in SF. Will come back

The presidential suite with the grand piano in the living room was nice for the guest to practice on

The concierge service is spectacular, and the rooms meet all expectations.

Stink of cooking throughout the hotel and especially lobby, elevator, and certain rooms! Hotel staff alerted but nothing was done about it. Smell started in the morning.

Excellent experience as you would expect. Great location for visiting various San Francisco landmarks.

The room of my friend was small but stunning. The lobby, bar and experience was high end. Exceptional architecture and interior design.

Not worth the price. Friendly staff and good location, but I dont know why you would pay so much more to stay here. Scratchy towels/robes and no real view from the room. No swimming pool either.

Wonderful place very pretty dont drink or eat the snacks there prices are way to high for the same things you can buy in the stores

It's very nice but on top of the high-priced room, the service has not been flawless and there are additional fees everywhere you look.

I went to the JCB Tasting Lounge with four friends and my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I are not members, but our four friends were. Members get free wine tastings and members are allowed to bring up to two non-members for free as well. Our hostess had some kind of communication issue and didn't understand that we had four members and two non-members. She thought we had two members and four non-members which is apparently not allowed. She asked us many times and seemed to be judging us and giving us a bad attitude because of this. It really put a damper on the whole experience. My friends assured me that the tasting lounge in Napa is much better, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to try it considering the attitude we experienced at this one.

OK, so I have stayed at a number of hotels in the Bay area and though I haven't stayed at the Fairmont I can confidently say that the Ritz is my favorite so far. The staff is extremely helpful and always very courteous and the rooms are large and absolutely fantastic.

The bar here is open to the public and serves up great drinks at a reasonable price

Warm and professional welcome, we had an exceptional stay in this hotel. All the staff are to be congratulated for their discretion, their efficiency and their availability. The location is perfect and the view magnificent.

Love the chain and the service was great BUT, we stayed on the Club Lounge floor and each night there was a banging sound in the ceiling above the bathroom. Just enough to wake you up and ruin your night's sleep. Not sure if they run a water softener or what else it could of been.. Complained to the chain without even the courtesy of a response. Which after paying that much was a let down.

I used to really like the Ritz Carlton, have stayed in Laguna Niguel, Phoenix, Denver, etc. but it seems have lost its luster.

Very nice interior, friendly staff, and nice rooms. It is a little pricey but well worth it. Also has a wonderful location that is adjacent to Chinatown.

Was a beautiful hotel on Nob Hill, in a quieter part of the city. Service was top notch as expected. Room was beautifully designed and furnished. Breakfast was stellar every morning. Steel cut oatmeal with maple syrup and organic peanut butter was my personal favorite. Gym facilities were also extremely nice and useful. Only downside was that there wasn't a pool.

The exterior is classic and old, but the inside of the room feels very modern with a modern feel. Everything liked the toilet room living room.

The location is pretty central to San Francisco and the building is amazing. The staff were very kind while we were there and helped us in almost every way. Very accomodating.

Pleasant luxury in short walking distance (one way, downhill , take a cab back) to Chinatown.
Gabrielle, the Concierge on the Club level was extremely helpful.

Very well known hotel. Great ballroom space but no windows. Great balance of modern and traditional decor. Nice terrace area with fountain but no city view.

Swung by and had lunch on the way to the airport. Wonderful service and food as always.
