I can only rate the terrace. And it's beautiful !!! We ate a club sandwich there and had a drink. The staff is super professional. One waiter took pleasure in showing us that he spoke good German.
And considering the class of the hotel, it wasn't absolutely fair priced.

An amazing deal. This is truly a 5 star hotel. The service is unsurpassed and the rooms are excellent. Well managed, they remember that you've been there before and thank you for returning. Try to get a chain to do that. An easy walk to the main square, the railway station is literally right behind the hotel and that means it is a center for the excellent tram system. Even the bus station is nearby with direct service to the airport. If you're on a long trip in Central Europe and stopping in Zagreb, you owe it to yourself to stay at the Esplanade.

Older, charming, historic property. Large rooms, great service. Food and drinks were great. Centralized location and very safe. Although streets nearby could use a bit more lighting during the night.

Incredible hotel, top of the line. Very reasonable prices off season. Great location, out of the hustle and bustle, but a close walk to many sites - the old Town is only a 20- minute walk. Great outside patio door drinks or meals. Even the buffet for breakfast was very good. We'll definitely stay here again when back in Zagreb.

Update: the service on the terrace was below expectations, and did not meet the same standards elsewhere in the hotel. One star removed.

Birthday celebration. Other than the waiters, nothing else deserves a higher rating. Unkind concierge. Foods tasteless, or salted. Tasteless lamb, poorly prepared. They didn't even bother to learn the name to congratulate. The cake was supposed to be fruity, I got the cream and sugar. I do not recommend.

Well, you do not praise the service because, for example, you serve no straw and lemon tea. So such a service for a reputable hotel with a beautiful architecture you should not have allowed such a kits. The staff should be strictly professional.

Esplanade Zagreb Hotel situated in the heart of this historic city is an art deco icon revered throughout the region and lauded for its impeccable standards of service. Opened in 1925 as a refuge for passengers from the Orient Express, the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel is an architectural gem with its fantastic avant-garde architecture reflecting the Golden 20ies. Thus, the Esplanade has always been at the heart of Zagreb s social scene: counts, presidents, politicians, film and music stars among its many distinguished guests. Didn't stay as a guest, but came in during a rainstorm for some tea and lunch. While it is a bit pricey, the staff were very friendly and the tea comes in a little pot with additional milk a personal sized honey. A very charming break from exploring the city.

Esplanade is a wonderful hotel. Beautifully decorated, elegant, discreet. Prices are pretty hay, for people with lower incomes. But it is worth coming and feeling like a king, once in a lifetime. Neat, clean. The food is top notch. Staff professional, friendly, organized. Super

This hotel fees pretty grand with large features and lots of marble. The service was great. Everyone spoke English. I recommend making reservations for breakfast if you want to eat at the restaurant. I didn't know where to park so i parked in a garage below ground of the Importanne Shopping Center. It was like a 80 cents an hour. Not bad.

As far as location, you could probably find something a bit closer to St. Marks or the Old Gate for a more quaint ambiance. But it was no problem to walk to these attractions.

A hotel with super food. They make homemade cookies and gingerbread cookies which are so delicious you can't have enough of them. Superb location to stay when Christmas market season starts. It has couple of conference rooms for small venues.

Beautiful hotel...exquisite and by London standards not expensive. A very fine experience. Built in 1925 as accomodation for passengers of the Orient Express and in good hands ever since ...something which is unusual in today's climate. This comes across in the way the building, it's fabric, standards, freshness and atmosphere have been preserved. Excellent.
