The most beautiful hotel in Zagreb, famous for having been on the trail of the orient express. Even Agatha Christie loved it. If you're an oil tycoon, you'll probably be staying here. If not, treat yourself to something from the great pastry selection on the hotel's famous oleander terrace.

It's the reputation of a five-star hotel.
There is a park next to it so you can have a stunning view of the surrounding area.
We are amazed at the state-of-the-art facilities,
I was impressed with the French toast that I could order at breakfast.
Everyone is kind and friendly with a large bathtub and a bathroom with a fluffy bed.

On the first floor, the Plain Restaurant is Michelin 2018.

Excellent old building, with a lot of style and soul, and the congress hall is BEAUTIFUL with acoustic effects, but without modern technology, when the microphones and speakers are turned off then BEAUTY is felt

One of the best hotels where it was for work, the room was 45 square meters. Always in order and clean, they passed twice a day. It is a historic hotel, so it may seem old, but it has its own charm. Located in a comfortable and quiet area, close to the station but no noise and near the center. The restaurant is very good, congratulations for breakfast. Even the perfect and quick dry cleaning service. Staff always kind and operative. RECOMMENDED!

The hotel is very old and the location is very good.
Difficulty in hearing at reception, concierge or bad pronunciation of Japanese; Multilingual staff at a 5-star hotel, and I don't know what to do if I don't speak any English ^^ Not very friendly

Stepping into this hotel makes you feel like your stepping back in time. Esplanade hotel is a beautiful part of Zagrebs rich history. The hotel is so close to the city centre, only walking distance. Shopping centre, cafes and bars all in close proximity. Trams and trains also close by. The food in the hotel is incredible..we felt like kings. The staff were more then helpful. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Staff: Excellent. From the moment we walked in, the reception handled our check in seamlessly. Concierge has many great tips on what to see in the city and what is 'skippable' if you are short on time.

Location: Excellent. Walking distance to the centre.

Rooms: Very clean and nice, with beautiful amenities like Loccitane Cosmetics. However, a little dated. More suitably described as 'old world charm'.

Old classic Zagreb hotel. Too many tour groups made breakfast slow. Celebrating anniversary which every other high end hotel we stayed in made a terrific gesture like a bottle of wine delivered to our room. Told the front desk manager we were celebrating our anniversary, but nothing done. Turn down service missed us. Would not stay here again.

Historic place. Staying in the hotel causes the feeling of the old days of Orient Express (in a positive sense). Professional staff, very kind, quality service is top quality. From dating at the door to the service in the room, it's all the way the way a guest can gaze.

Old school hotel ... Piano, a feeling of the 50's, 60's, a beautiful terrace with a beautiful view of the old architecture of Zagreb (literally every building nearby) and the park of Tomislavac ... They could have made Sheraton with a spaceship in it and again I would not be Esplanade to my knees ... Not in appearance, let alone in the atmosphere ... For me, the Esplanade will always be a reminder of some older, better and more beautiful times ... It just has a dude

The hotel is good in many ways but it allows pets, so be careful if you have allergies. Also, it is in need of renovation, it is not cleaned well by housekeeping staff, and as we were leaving we found a cockroach in our room.

We spent three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - our rooms were very comfortable (especially appreciated the heated bathroom floors) and staff was friendly and helpful. Icing on the cake: the concierge service was able to secure a booth for our family to enjoy The Nutcracker a week before the performance at the national theatre.
