They take money from families and gives it back to insurance companies!

If you receive a letter from The Rawlings Group, may God have mercy on your soul. They are essentially bottom feeders for the health insurance industry. They are hired by health insurance companies to find loopholes which will allow your health insurance provider to rescind and take back payments already made to your doctor/hospital, thus making you now responsible for the bill. Even their web site boasts, “legal and industry expertise to deliver outstanding financial results to our clients” – in other words, they are good at taking money out of your pocket and giving it back to your health insurance provider when you’ve already paid premiums and deductibles. In our case, they claimed that my daughter was covered under two health plans at her birth – which she never was, she had one coverage. They took back all payments made to the hospital and made us responsible for 100% of the bill. It took us over a year, with threats of collections from the hospital, and us getting our state department of insurance involved, before they suddenly realized that yes, our daughter was only covered by one insurance. Never issued us an apology for all the stress they put us under. Now another year later, they are back again, trying to claim that yet another doctor bill is not covered because of dual coverage. When I reach out to them, they don’t provide documentation and talk legal/double talk to confuse you. The Rawlings Group does nothing to help consumers, be prepared for a long fight ahead, document everything with them, and call your state department of insurance to file a complaint against them.

The staff is incredibly rude! I have questions about my bill from my car accident and Annie has been absolutely no help, she doesn t listen to what I have to say and has no answers for me except the script she is reading from off the screen. I m still extremely confused and Kaiser apparently has no idea about any of this. When I asked why on the bill they charged me for a flu shot she said, I don t know what you are looking at, we didn t charge you. But it s literally ON the statement.

Reading all the reviews on here is disappointing, these people are crooks. This is not how you want to be treated after already having to deal with everything that comes with being in a car accident.

Um, they are affiliated with some health insurers. Their function is to identify which medical claims may be related to incidents for which other parties are liable. They provide a valuable service and keep everyone's health insurance lower than they otherwise would be.

I've seen a lot of reviews saying that this company is a scam and its full of bottom feeding layers. This is not true. I know some one who works for this company and he has explained what they do and I can confirm that they have an affiliation with insurance groups. Those are their clients after all. All the people saying that there is no affiliation don't know what they're talking about. Don't wast your time with the negative comments.

Avoid the fishing companies like the rawlings, and meyer x, and the same. My frustration came from repeated mails. One letter should be enough, but they do not respect us.
If you are injured and someone else is at fault then talk directly to your insurance company.

I put in a complaint on a staff member who was very distasteful towards me. I have canceled my health insurance since they use this company. I have literally not been happy about this company. They are the worst when it comes to customer service.

What a scam of a company. They called out of nowhere after my wife gave birth asking if I had additional coverage that may be applicable for our newborn (who was already on my wife's plan). These a**holes took it upon themselves to contact our insurance company, without our consent, and ultimately led to claims being disputed by our provider. Their practices border on illegal activity.

Although my accident was back in September (4 months ago), and I've called this company as required by my health insurance company who contracts with them at least twice, they are still not documenting the information correctly so my insurance company is still not paying my claims in full because they need to "know if there is a 3rd party that may be responsible" which I've already told them REPEATEDLY that THERE IS NOT. Morons. Idiots. Incompetents. And the fact that it's a privately held company only makes it worse. No one is accountable except the owner who obviously doesn't care that his company sucks.

My insurance company would have already been informed if I was placing a claim via workman's comp. a long time before your annoying letters were received.

Whats more disturbing is how is this underhanded attorneys office is getting access to my personally identifiable information PII and medical information which is clearly a HIPAA violation of my privacy!

I was in a car accident approximately six months ago in which I received a small settlement on my behalf due to pain and suffering. I Received $500 for additional medical expenses and medical bill reimbursement. The total amount of the settlement was $6500. This company contacted me letting me know that I was responsible to pay back my healthcare provider for services rendered. They put a lien on me for $6500. I investigated and went to a lawyer about this. Under Florida law they are only allowed to collect on my settlement if my settlement specifies in which it is for medical bills. I only had $500 that was deemed for medical bills. They told me that I owe them the full amount and I needed to pay immediately. my lawyer then notified me that I did not need to pay the full amount, I was only responsible for $500. I contacted the company and expressed to them that under the law I am only responsible for the $500 they called me a liar told me I didn t know what my law was and that they were going to come after me if I did not place a payment. I then spoke with the supervisor, gave them the name of my attorney. My attorney was in touch with them and let them know that I was only responsible for $500 in which they then sent me a letter stating I was only responsible for $500. My lawyer and I are now suing for harassment.

Ok! At this point I have finally been told by my insurance company, who should have paid Longhorn Emergency Medical Associates, PA for the money owed from services after an accident, that they paid the Rawlings Group $663.50 that actually belonged to a Dr. Andrew Kendall. The doctor's group now has been threatening collections activity because we refuse to pay. Part of the problem is the incompetence of the claims adjuster for my insurance company but the larger part is the irresponsibility and dishonesty of the Rawlings Group who cashed a check that was not theirs. It should have gone to the doctor's group for his services. I feel bad for him because of the money being directed to the wrong place, but shame on the Rawlings Group for taking his money. I'm disappointed in them for their dishonesty. It will now become my job to chase the company(probably the insurance company) to get the doctor paid appropriately. The date of the accident was June 26 of 2018 and it's now 17 months later to the day and only 2 days before Thanksgiving in 2019. I hope this level of detail encourages someone to do the right thing! I will be investigating.

If you don't want to read a long review, here's the gist about this company:

They are a real company. You aren't required by law to give them your information. George Rawlings (the owner) is probably one of the most wicked people on the planet. If you consider employment here after reading this, you're an idiot.

For a longer review, read below:

To those individuals wondering if this is a legit company yes, they are. They are a third party that is hired by several insurance companies to do their dirty work. I had the great misfortune of working for them for a time. The work that they do seems un-ethical, but for the time being, is legal. However, you are not legally obligated to give them your information. They may pretend that they are only trying to verify information for your 'coordination of benefits' update, or that they're seeking to help control your health care costs. This is bulls***. They're just trying to make money off your injuries/health issues. Because so many insurance companies are incapable of keeping all the federal and commercial laws and guidelines straight when it comes to your insurance, they've hired this company to do it for them. And they will only properly update your records if it makes them money. The insurance companies are doing anything they can to make someone else financially responsible for your claims, whether it's you or another insurance company.
If you want to make sure your insurance has the right information, contact them yourself and do not go through this third party.

To those individual considering employment with this company DON'T do it. They make promises of unlimited earning potential and opportunity to move up. But everything is rigged. Every director and manager is horribly corrupt. If you enjoy working in a negative, gossip-ridden environment, then maybe this is for you. If you're a suck-up and will do anything to please management so that you can progress in your career, then maybe this is for you. If you enjoy making money off of other peoples' misery, then go for it. But if you prefer not to be micro-managed, gossiped about openly, publicly ridiculed in frequent meetings, and yelled at over the phone by dying individuals that are now in financial distress because of you, then run the other direction.
If you encounter a current employee of this company that tells you otherwise, they either haven't been there long enough to see the corruption, they are corrupt themselves, or they're lying to your face. George Rawlings (the owner) is the scum of the earth, and I am sure he will burn in hell, despite his religious cover. He has no soul.

All this being said, not all employees of this company are as wicked as George. This company is located in an area where the job market honestly is horrible. Some people are just trying to provide for their families. So if you get a call from these people, pity them. They probably hate their lives. This is the worst work environment I ever worked in. And I had terrible manager that incessantly bullied me for no reason. In addition to this, the HR department is completely dis-functional and is only there to protect George Rawlings' a** and prevent further lawsuits (just Google lawsuits against this company).

To sum things up, avoid this company at all costs.

Please read Barbara Anderson's review. I had no idea what insurance subrogation was until a few months ago. The easiest way to explain it is: if you were injured in a car accident that was someone else's fault, THEIR car insurance should pay your medical bills...not YOUR health insurer. (same w/workman's comp-if you were hurt at work, the company should pay your medical bills, not your medical insurance). Assuring the right parties pay the right bills helps keep medical insurance costs a little lower overall. Agreed the letters can be annoying...is best to just call the 800 number the first time you receive one, so you won't keep receiving them. Rawlings IS contracted by many health insurance companies to do post-payment recovery of wrongfully applied bills, so is not a scam...just a recovery service.

Strongly encourage anyone dealing with this company to hire an attorney. They collect on behalf of insurance companies and do a terrible job explaining why someone is liable. They would not return an unsigned check to me, return calls, or EVEN PROVIDE A RECEIPT. I've never felt so mistreated in my life.

As a subrogation specialist at a personal injury law office I would like to clarify. When your health insurance pays medical bills for an injury where another party is responsible (ie: auto accident) and you receive a settlement from that third party, your health insurance is entitled to reimbursement for any claims they may have paid. Very reputable health insurance companies including various branches of Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna use The Rawlings Company to coordinate their subrogation. The Rawlings Company has been nothing but helpful in my experience.

This Company has a Subrogation Division for disputing Hospital Bills-Very disconnected I might add.
They repeatedly send my 21 year old Granddaughter, who's on Medicaid & has been in & out of Hospital's due to serious Lung issues *asking* if maybe somebody else could be responsible for her Hospital Bills? They go on to list *possible reasons*- Car Accident? Hurt on the job? Somebody personally hurt you? & Etc.
Are we to believe they receive ZERO Medical diagnosis, as they * review* the Bill? Absurd! Apparently their role is to discredit the Patients Hospital Bills & yet don't have a clue even *why* the Patient was Hospitalized.
Just more useless Red Tape Taxpayer's pay for... I might add not sure just for Medicaid Patients Hospital Bills dispute. But once again how do you dispute ANY Hospital Bill if you don't have access to the *diagnosis*?

At first I felt this was a scam and was advised by my agents to ignore it. But, the phone calls continued. So, I started calling them. To make a long story short, this company is doing a nasty job, and more than likely getting a percentage of what they collect, and then the balance is returned to the Insurance company they are working for. Reminds me of companies that process freight claims and don't charge unless they find an error. At any rate, all said and done they were correct. Sure you don't like it, you thought the money paid out was yours............it's not. Too bad it's not explained different and handled correctly to begin with.

BE WARNED - I was in a car accident in September 2018 (it is now March 2020). Long story short, I went to urgent care to get x-rays and splint for my wrist sprain (not a big deal/injury, right). I paid my $60 co-pay for my medical insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) and that was the end of it. WRONG. My medical insurance and car insurance went on fighting back and forth as to who was responsible to pay for that visit. The Rawlings Company apparently works on behalf of BCBS and kept calling and sending letters in the mail so I eventaully had to get involved between the two and then USAA took the responsiblity and wrote me a check to send to The Rawlings Company to pay the full medical bill back to my medical provider. It is now TWO YEARS later and I am still dealing with this issue because apparently The Rawlings Company NEVER paid my bill - but you better believe that the check was cashed within the WEEK of me sending it. I have reached out to The Rawlings Company, BCBS, and the hospital that is sending me the bill (I should add they are also threatening to now send me to collections because this bill "hasnt been paid") and everything points back to The Rawlings Company not paying my bill when I did everything that I was supposed to get this taken care of, PLUS MORE. It has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE dealing with this that I have had to get legal involved now. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I wish I would've researched more and just taken care of the issue myself because now I am dealing with this on a daily basis when there's obviously way more important issues in my life than to babysit and follow up with a company every day for two years to make sure they do their job. UNBELIEVABLE.

I have been working with a guy by the name of Hunter there with the company. Hunter has always been outgoing every time I have spoken with him. He has been willing to make sure that I understand what is going on with the file, and he is upbeat.

He is always positive, and he will make conversation with you while discussing the file. He will make sure that you have a clear understanding. If you don't understand, he tries to find out where the disconnect is and goes ABOVE and BEYOND the call of duty. I could not ask for a better employee at Rawlings.

Anyone who doesn't know what subrogation is needs to google it. This is a legit company, they ARE contracted by your health plan per your contract with them. It is NOT a HIPAA violation. If you don't want to give personal medical information all you have to say is that your treatment is not accident or work related and there are no claims filed with another insurance. They are not "ambulance chasers", they simply recover money from the third party liable insurance (if there is one) for your health plan. Also, if you call your health plan and they say they have never heard of them then you are talking to someone who doesn't know what they are talking about and ask to speak to a supervisor.

It has been brought to my attention that some people inside this organization don't want to give any respect to others. The company looks for reasons to fire people, because people like myself yell at them, and the people are trying to work with us on the phone.

Secondly, when complaints come from other businesses, we look at this, and we have a tendency to want to terminate employment for this as well. This will push people within the organization to leave. I know that it will push people away to go and work for Anthem like many have done already. Make sure you have all facts of what goes on before you up and remove someone from working for the company.

Bad service & bad practices. I went to a physical therapy session prescribed by a doctor; however the prescription was before the auto accident, but this law firm related that to my accident and demanding me money which is not even related to the accident. Insurance companies are trapping the patients this way. In addition, this firm (Bill Markowitz) also called my auto-insurance company to report accident WITHOUT my consent, and my auto-insurance opened a claim. This is unauthorized practice. Stay away from these people.
