This is a great place to visit and eat, the staff were very friendly and helpful, we had a very nice meal of fish and chips with mushy peas and I have to say the mushy peas were the best I have ever tasted the only thing that let it down was the food was served on COLD plates

RECOMMENDATION: Must Visit

COME HERE FOR: A romantic getaway, the rooms, pub, restaurant, and friendly service and guests.

Came here for one night and absolutely fell in love with it. The entire inn is very charming, something straight out of a postcard. The staff and guests there are very friendly, we hung out at the pub, had dinner at the restaurant, and back up to the room to enjoy our tub.

Booked for 9 people Bank Holiday Saturday evening - two from Australia and one from Ireland. Most embarrassed at the standard of the meal. Cheese souffle looked more like a scotch pancake and my mozzarella and tomato consisted of three mini balls of mozzarella floating in the water with three slices of tomato, one atop each ball. It did have basil but possibly one leaf shredded. Risotto was so solid needed knife and fork and here they did remove the charge from the bill.

Great

We stay quite regularly at the Porch House and this time was the most disappointing. The staff are under resourced, rushing around, tiring to be around and far from relaxing. Too many problems with too many things. Not in a rush to return.

My husband and I were staying the night in Stow-on-the-Wold and decided to pop into The Porch House for a drink. The staff were very polite and helpful and we enjoyed a lovely hour sat in a window seat. As we were leaving I popped into the dining room to check out the fireplaces (I'd read about the history of the Inn) I was not disappointed! I really wish we were staying 2 nights so that we had been able to dine there also! It was a beautiful room! Thanks Porch House :)

Have visited this fabulous inn several times over the years and always found this old inn fantastic for food and drink.
Always find this place cosy. what with the open log fires and excellent friendly staff, definitely well worth a visit.

Service was pretty poor and staff not very on it. Food was quite overpriced and a bit over cooked and portions were stingy. That being said it s a lovely building in a very picturesque location, so might be worth visiting for a drink but we definitely won t be going back for food

They had the booking online open, so we reserved a table for 2 for tonight for my wife's birthday. We drove 40min to get here just to find they were closed! They didn't even bother contacting us to say they postponed their opening.

Two main course have run out by the time I order. Not much of a wine list to talk about. The soup of the day potato soup I ordered turned out to be tomato soup. My 7 years old said it's probably because of her wrong pronunciation or bad English. Oops. The nice Eastern European lady waitress just doesn't speak much English.

Beautiful hotel with lots of character, our room was pretty but we're a little confused about where our 9 year old would sleep as no z bed was provided but we all shared the bed in the end as I wasn't too fussed. We enjoyed sitting out in the terrace area, plenty of places to look around in stow with lots of history. I would recommend this hotel

The location was great and the space was beautiful. The room we were given was exceedingly small, however, and the doorway between the bedroom and bathroom is deadly with its shockingly low headroom. I smacked my head quite hard on it. Altogether I think the cost was too high for our particular room (#4) but the overall experience was fine.

Two days ago I had the minute steak sandwich here and was shocked to find a 5" long hair in it. Upon showing the staff member who served me, taking care not to let others become aware, she just looked at it and said "oh", no apology, no offer of refund ...NOTHING! All I wanted was acknowledgement of the fact. Will not be returning and will let all friends and family know!

A lovely old pub and restaurant with a quaint terrace garden...local ale served by freidly staff. We had a small mix up with menus when we visited but the manger couldn't have been more helpful sorting us out....would highly recomend a visit.

The ambiance and age in such beautiful condition was right on. It made for a great night out. Party of 8 nothing but laughs and smiles... might have had a little to do with us on that. Try Porch a must!!!

Wonderful place. Cozy, well designed rooms in a extremely old historic inn. It's very old so expect small stairs and no aircon. Dinner was ok, with a very long wait. Breakfast good. Parking can be an issue

A very relaxed comfortable pub. Nooks and snugs to be discovered with books and games on offer if you fancy a game with the kids or cards with friends. Big flagstone floors and wood burning stoves and in the snug an open fire.
Food a little pricier than usual but a good choice on offer. Live music events and dog friendly.
The staff were very helpful and friendly too.

We booked for an anniversary dinner with friends on Saturday 11th May. Our waitress came over and informed us that there was no fish pie and only 2 portions of another dish left and also the wine we chose had run out. We waited for an hour for food and had to ask 3 times for water. First time ever we asked for the service charge to be removed....great shame as lovely .......................................................

2 weeks have now passed since the owner asked me to contact them via the website which I have done twice and received no reply.
Could this have simply been a cynical ruse to show the owners in a positive light?.......draw your own conclusions.

Had dinner there last night and really enjoyed the food along with the decor and atmosphere. Service was good whilst the food was excellent and prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend The Porch House and hope to stay in the hotel in future as I like the character and history of the hotel.
