Awesome experience. Only recommendation is that you go super early in the morning so you can actually see the animals. Otherwise, they will be in their enclosures due to the heat.....cant really blame them.

Beautiful grounds, and lots of animals both big and small.
I would give it 5 stars, except for the fact that the "train" ride is actually not a train - it's an electric cart that pulls 3 long cars behind it, and all on rubber wheels.
My 5 year old was extremely disappointed, and was nearly in tears over it as it was supposed to be his first train ride.
The staff are courteous and nice, but again, the "train"....

Took a 2 hour trip from tucson to see the zoo and legos. The park is laid out badly, you have to retrace your steps to view am animal then go back. 1/2 the animals were sick and 4 others had died the month before. All in all the Lego sculptures were awesome but the park was not. I will not return

It was nice, but I wish there were more animals to see. Some places were not available and under maintenance. I'll probably go back in the winter to see if there's any new things. The camel ride was really cool though, I'd recommend that.

It's a great place to bring your kids on a hot day. Lots of shade, fun places to visit, education opportunities to learn from for any age. It's not the cheapest place to go, but worth the investment.

Wow, what a great zoo! Most certainly one of the best I've been to. Our favorite part was feeding giraffes! Very few zoos offer this and the pretty girl that helped my children was an encyclopedia of knowledge about the giraffes and their habitat! I never knew giraffes could be so interesting! Also my older son enjoyed a camel ride. I would recommend spending at least 3 hours there.

Had the time of my life with my kids for my Birthday. The Zoo was clean, well staffed and got to see everything we wanted too. We all enjoyed feeding and petting the stingrays. Also rose the Camels and loved seeing oh goodness every animal we could.

I have been to the phoenix zoo twice since I moved here. We like it a lot. We went to see Christmas light in december then we went around March. I liked the dinosaur display they had. The day we went they had rock climbing and other cool activities for the kids. Even free stuff for them. We will keep going back.

I've been to a lot of zoos because we've moved all...

I've been to a lot of zoos because we've moved all over the country - This one is probably my least favorite. First, the price - $80 for our family of four?! Crazy. But the biggest problem with this zoo is the layout. The exhibits are spaced so far apart. And because it's Phoenix, it's bound to be hot and the scenery isn't exactly lush and pretty. Lots of hot, empty desert walking. Also, the layout is confusing- so many forks in the paths without signage, you end up backtracking and frustrated. We've been twice in the last few years (thought we'd give it a second chance recently). Both of our visits were on Saturdays and 3-4 of the larger exhibits didn't have animals in them because they were cleaning it. So you walk and walk and then there's no animal! Why would they do this cleaning at their busiest time?! The best part about this zoo is the splash pad - very fun for the kids. If you're in southern AZ, and want to go to the zoo - we suggest the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson. It's beautifully (and intelligently) designed and has a huge park and an aquatic center next to it.

Just went to zoolights 2018. First time back for the lights since i was 15 or so. It was magical! My 2 year old was in aww of all of it. The music and atmosphere! So much fun!! And Santa was there! Got a great picture with santa without the super long line at the mall. And an added bonus is most of the cost of the photo goes to the Zoo to help the animals. This was so fun! Thanks phx Zoo!

Though I have been to zoos with a larger variety of animals on display, the Phoenix Zoo is probably one of my favorites. The exhibits provide the animals with a lot of space, and they all seem to be very healthy.

Although Zoo lights was amazing to look at and I would recommend going. The long lines and the disorganization associated with entering the park on the 23rd still left a sour taste in my mouth. Would recommend going if you show up early or be willing to wait in line.

Fascinating to see animals from around the world. Also obviously depressing to see the animals in small enclosures, looking mangey and depressed. My daughter being only 3, with no prompting wants the animals from the zoo to be set free.

Much respect to the team keeping that place together and I understand the dynamic of taking care of the animals and doing your job. It s a price we all pay to see the things we normally wouldn t. Hence 3/5 stars.

Very fun place to visit at night for Zoo Lights! The atmosphere is very surreal and Christmas-y. Gorgeous and some place I like to visit at least once a year.

If you are 21 years or older, be warned that they run out of alcoholic drinks VERY quickly. Come early if you want a shot in your hot coco or just bring your own (sneak it in if they don't allow it).

Great place to bring a date or family/friends!

Definitely a fun night out :)

It was a nice time. Though the dancing lights aren't as exciting as in previous years. It was fun visiting the reindeer & Santa was there even though we didn't go to visit him. Good for families and small kids.

When I went to zoo lights, it was spectacular. So, when I went again during the day time, I was underwhelmed by lazy animals hiding in their habitats. Our class learned a lot about animals, so this is a good place to for a field trip. I wish there was one entrance fee for every exhibit, but you have to pay extra to get into certain exhibits or activities. They do have a lot to do here, so it's not a big deal.

The Phoenix zoo has a wide selection of animals to see. The zoo is very large with areas inspired by South America and Africa with the animals from those places. The theming for each area was amazing. In the main hub there is food places which are a bit pricy but the food is worth it. There is also play structures like a pirate ship, Tree House and an artificial cave. The pirate ship is for little kids. The cave is for kids up to 10. The tree house seems to be for all children. The three play structures are free. Their is a carousel near the tree house which costs money. The selection of animals is wide and has variety. They have many apes and monkeys and a wide variety of birds. They have felines like Lions, Tigers, cheetahs. They have camel riding for a price. The zoo has alot of trees which leads to having shade for those hot days which is very appreciated. Bathrooms and water stations can be found around the zoo. I recommend this place for families.
