I have a pass here. It never gets old - not only do you always find new stuff to do, but you get your exercise in while having a blast.
There are a few animals off exhibit until the zoo construction is over, so do keep this in mind.
Weekends are busy with loud kids screening at the animals, but weekdays and early mornings are the best!

I noticed they have plenty of shade and mist fans for the hot summers the animals have to go through, which is great.
One tiger was very underweight and anxious. There were only 2 elephants and they were kept separated. Which is sad because they're huge on family and don't like being alone. I also noticed the lion had a smaller enclosure than the hyena. The mountain lions enclosure was even smaller. They need more room to run. Hopefully they can work on that.

With kids it is always worth a visit. If you re living in or around Phoenix I would strongly recommend to get an annual membership. This makes sense with two visits only. Since we have it we come more often and are still discovering nice new corners of the park.

Additionally I can highly recommend to visit the ZooLights in Nov/ Dec. It s amazing what you can build with myriads of tiny lights.

The Phoenix Zoo near Tempe was so fun for the week before Halloween.. I never thought I'd attend something like this. This is fun for any age group. If you have a family then please try this out.
The more scarier part had a whole mock-up of Resident Evil's Raccoon City.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
The actors even let you take pictures with them.

Zoo lights would have been fun but... waited in line to park for 43 minutes! Only to be told parking is full!!! Why not post someone at the street light or have one of the info screens posted to let us know so we don t all wait in a line to nowhere. Poor poor management.

Signs all said masks were basically mandatory to enter and could be removed in designated areas inside to eat/drink......yet I watched a woman and her entire family (a very large group) all pay at window and enter without masks....so what's the point in the signage?

Love this place. Great way to beat the heat, with all of the shade that they have so carefully engineered, and there are animals, too! One of the top conservation zoos in the country, they have many animals that other zoos can't take care of. And then there's zoolights...

The Phoenix Zoo is great! We have a membership, so never feel guilty if we have to make it a quick visit! It's absolutely perfect in every season except summer when it is just too hot! We will very likely renew our membership when the time comes because our daughter loves going!

Anyone that doesn't rate this zoo 5* went to a different place than me! The staff is excellent, very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. There is a ton of things to do... 2 adults that don't shuffle and we were there 7 hours to see everything but the kids area. Plan an entire day, it's worth spending the time.

ZIve been going to the Phoenix Zoo since 1970s and Im really disappointed in what it has become. Some exibits are fine, but the animals like who paces back and forth. The elephant who looks so sad and lonely. With all the money they charge- 35.00 each and not much has been done to give them livable conditions is sad. The employees are rude, unfriendly every one of them. The people who take care of the place are just not what you would expect. Im really disappointed in the zoo experience today. I dont think I want to go again. I felt so bad for most of the animals and their living conditions. All looks okay, but if you really look its just sad. Hire people who can smile and interact. Cause they are awful.

Great for family trips. Lots of benches if you get tired but aren't ready to leave. Covered eating/resting area near entrance. Very friendly, talkative staff. Clearly labeled signs to point you in the right direction. Most of the animals are easy to see, but still seem relaxed in their environment. Prices are about the same as any other zoo/park.

Highly recommend coming in the morning when the animals are still fresh.even during the winter at noon it's nap time for them. There's room for strollers and wheelchairs at every area we went to. Plenty of food and rest stops. Staff is very polite and helpful. Everyone seemed to be happy to be here

My mother came to visit with my granddaughter from California we chose to do the zoo night, NOTHING like we expected. Besides the lights and stingrays there was nothing for the kids to do but freeze. Money was wasted on a family trip. I don't recommend this for a family looking to see the pets ....

Super fun place for the whole family! We found a deal on Groupon while we were on vacation in Arizona, and it was one of our favorite activities on our trip. There are splash pads, so bring swimming gear for the kids!
