Super stay at a very reasonable price. The building is beautiful, staff very cool, rooms are nice enough, beds comfortable, very clean, and the amenities - breakfast, gym, bars/restaurants - good. Koreatown isn't the most exciting neighborhood but it's also cool.

Our last night (NYE) their was a roof party until 1:30am, and the next morning the Manager comp'd that whole night, without prompting. Super impressed.

You can feel the history of this 1926 hotel when you walk in. Very cool. Friendly staff, although unable to recommend activities/food in the area. One slow, scary elevator. No swimming pool. Attached burger place was a joke. Horrible cocktails, discombobulated staff, long waits for everything. Food was ok. Clean rooms. Automatic light in bathroom flickered all night long. Cool rooftop with no access. As a host of a travel podcast I must offer a bit of advice: people aren t anxious to write a bad review. They want to write a good one. Pay attention, because we are. #freaknationpodcast

I enjoy my stay here! The staff is friendly, welcoming, and the rooms well done and comfortable. The hotel is close to all downtown if you are a fan of baseball it s right next door. In all of my business and pleasure trips, this is my favorite hotel. I always look forward to a return visit and recommend them to all of my colleagues.

Wonderful place. They treated my wife and kids like we were guests in their home. The staff at the door and front desk are super friendly and want to be as helpful as you need. The price was so reasonable and an amazing bargain when you consider you are walking distance to downtown.

Our stay at the Hotel Normandie was very nice and I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. Our room was very clean and our housekeeper was #1! We stayed on floor 4. No closets or dressers in our specific room but we didn't care, we were fine living out of our suitcases for a couple nights. No charge for breakfast in the morning. There was free wine every night between 4:30 and 6 and great friendly hotel people serving! ALL employees were friendly! We picked this hotel because it was historic and close to family that we were visiting. We traveled from New York.

First, all the pillows in the room were thick and hard and they don't have any alternative thin and extra soft pillows. Second, because the windows were old they can't be closed properly and because of that there was annoying noise coming from the street. And the most important bottom line is there is nothing to eat in their breakfast. Only coffee and bread. No eggs, no sausages nothing..So I had to go to a restaurant to have breakfast.

This place is nor good or bad. Features in many tourist guides although I'm not sure why. Parking was a nightmare (unless you forked out $35 for valet parking). In the heart of Korea Town and its vibe, this budget hotel essentially caters for students and young adults. It's very noisy due to its location but also because the sash windows are single glazed and don't seal well when shut. Basic rooms and bathrooms but clean enough. I would say it's a 2-star hotel. Would stay elsewhere in the future or perhaps try the Line next door.

This large hotel feels more like a small boutique style hotel, with large rooms all decorated with various eclectic items from old cigar boxes to vintage cards, etc. You are guaranteed a good night's sleep here. There's no loud noises, you hear other guest's passing though the hallways and maybe the couple next having a "fun" time but if you cant beat em join em so to speak. Hotel Normandie has a welcoming goodlooking front desk staff that are very helpful. The hotel is close to trains and buses to get around easily. Local Korean cuisine is everywhere considering its Koreatown location. I really recommend staying here and its light on the pocketbook so it's a win win all around.

Loved this quirky place in Koreatown. Lobby was a pleasant surprise with a koi pond, lots of cozy seating, an evening wine reception, reading/writing areas. Rooms are simple and retain the old decor and charm. Breakfast was satisfying. I'd stay here again. Oh, and the attached restaurant was hopping and amazing!

I was just about to book a full week but after calling up and asking a few questions I found the tone of the representative apathetic and borderline rude....she sounded like she really didn't want to be there....it's too bad it looks like a beautiful hotel...the mixed reviews make it a risky booking.

My husband and I enjoy older buildings and that's why we decided to stay at the Normandie. Once you step foot in the hotel, you are immediately brought back to the 1920's! Lovely architecture and decoration. Our room was super clean, comfortable bed and spacious. Every after noon there's free wine testing and the stay includes a basic breakfast with REAL oj! I would definitely come back again! thanks Normandie

This hotel is pricey, but the room is bit smaller than an extended stay we always booked to, however, the plus for this hotel is the location- the koreatown, this location is proximity to restaurants, tons of restaurant and a cafe that servers burgers and breakfast right next to the hotel. If you want to have microwave in your room, you have to pay extra.

Very cute, historical hotel. Had a bit of an issue with street construction/road noise (the construction crew placed a metal plate over the part of the street they were working on overnight, and every time a car drove over it, the noise was awful). Not the hotel's fault, but when my husband mentioned it, the gentleman at the front desk comped our parking. Loved hearing all about the history of the hotel fron the very knowledgeable concierge. I love that the current owner has really tried to preserve many of the original features, and when doing renovations has really tried to stay true to the style of the era. This hotel is a great example of how to restore a piece of history, and aside from the noise, we had a very comfortable stay.

The hotel is a beautiful old Los Angeles throwback, with extra high ceilings in the lobby and vintage flair all around. The rooms are all updated with modern amenities however, which makes your stay here a delight. The beds are comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Best of all there is a delicious vintage style diner attached to the hotel that serves good food and awesome cocktails.

The interior decor was a beautiful vintage. The staff was nice and helpful since I didn't know where to go to dine at Le Comtoir. I think they gave complimentary wine in their lobby but we didn't get any and only saw a tip jar.

I usually dont give negative reviews. I am not complaining about the cleaniness or size of the room. It is fairly priced. The main problem was the front desk check in experience. I was told my reservation was for 1 night and they didnt have any rooms. I explained that my reservation was for 2 nights and 2 doubles. The lady said they can only give me a king. I repeated my reservation was for 2 nights and 2 doubles and it was prepaid. She just looked at me and said i only have a reservation for 1 night and i dont have 2 doubles. After realizing the reservation was for 2 nights, 2 doubles, she fixed the 2 night part and told me she had 2 separate rooms with 2 beds, but had to charge me the regular rate and not the prepaid rate for the additional room. After realizing she was not the brightest person, I did not want to argue. I booked it the way she stated it needed to be done. Now I will contact my amex and file a travel insurance claim. It will most likely result in a chargeback for the hotel.

Amazing experience, this hotel is Extremely clean and everything is remodeled! Hotel staff, especially Joe go out of their way to make you feel special and taken care of in every way.The room was equipped with great toiletry products that were very natural as well as healthy snacks such as almonds as well as indulgent snacks like chocolates and gummy bears in the in room valet basket. No musty or chemical smells, If you want a room with amenities like a refrigerator, stay at a hotel chain. This is a historic beautifully decorated hotel that has been completely remodeled but maintains the 1920's era feel. The area is safe and they have a great valet service. Uncluttered, clean, quiet, and peaceful hotel. Step back in time and stay at the Normandie you wont regret it.

Great location if you have a car (most obligatory in LA though) it's in the middle of the most visited locations. The front desk was really helpful when I told them than my room didn't have closet or dresser they upgrade me for a junior suite for no charge! The rooms were clean and the staff attentive!

I stayed there for five days recently, and I had a great stay. The rooms were clean, and the location was nice. Eric's customer service was one of the biggest factors. He went above and beyond to make sure my experience was great. I only wish the breakfast had more options. I would pay more for that too. Nonetheless, I would come back!

I loved the Normandie Hotel!! It's true that it's basic with no microwave or phone in the rooms, but they are in the process of a major renovation and all in all it's just charming. I loved that they are maintaining the character of the building and basically saving a landmark building from ruin. The staff couldn't be nicer, they were all extremely friendly and helpful. And it's nice to have free parking in LA. I travel a lot and stay in tons of hotels and this might not be the most fabulous place I've ever stayed, but it isn't boring and bland either... it is endearing. Not to mention that the price is great for LA. I will definitely stay at the Normandie again.

The interior is fantastically restored and makes you feel warm, fuzzy, and right at home. The staff is perhaps the best part. They are beyond friendly, always willing to assist, and passionately safeguard the privacy of their guests.

The rates are incredibly competitive. I highly recommend this place.

Our room was very clean and the staff was welcoming. The continental breakfast was so so, but it was free. The only complaint about this hotel would be the noise. The street noise was awful and the walls are paper thin. We could hear EVERYTHING our room neighbors were doing.

Hotel located in Korea Town (Korean district), close to the subway. Very convenient to get around with public transport. Welcome smiling on my arrival. I was not in their shelves, but the team reacted very quickly. The room was very clean, housekeeping impeccable every day, comfortable. Only downside, no double glazing; so if you have a baby's sleep, or ear plugs, it goes, otherwise, the nights are a little shortened, but nothing too embarrassing either. I stayed there for a week and overall traffic is dense but relatively peaceful (we are not on the level of the major boulevards of the French agglos). If you want to ensure this look, ask for a room facing the back of the building. Breakfast included. Not exceptional (in the strict sense) but complete and varied: teas, coffee (deca and normal), pastries, fruit juice, yogurts, cereals, breads, cheese, jam, nutella, honey, butter. Normally, you are ready for the day! And staff always very smiling. The breakfast room is spartan for some; I found it vintage, like the whole building. Really enjoyed it. The hotel shares the building with a very good burger restaurant, and with direct access from inside the hotel: Cassel's burgers. I did not have time to try, but the returns are good (see tripadvisor). Anyway, a lot of places to eat in Korea Town. Wifi with very good speed (essential for my work), no extra charge. Reception staff listening if needed advice.

The rooms (at least ours) are beautifully decorated, all vintage and cute. Sadly, ours had views to an alley and a brick wall.. Anyways, we liked our stay, breakfast is plentiful and staff is super helpful, polite and charming. Thanks!

A hotel that has renovated buildings over 90 years old
Because the architect is the owner, he makes good use of the characteristics of the building.
High ceilings and chandeliers with minimal decoration
The atmosphere is good with piano playing and evening wine service
It is in Korea Town.

This review is specifically for the valet service ...

This review is specifically for the valet service on Sept. 4, 2019.

I brought my new car to the valet for a visit with the onsite Barbershop (EXCELLENT cuts from them by the way). I usually don't trust valet drivers, but I was in a hurry and there was no space to park in the vicinity easily. The valet driver told me not to worry, he parks a lot of cars "much nicer than this" at his other job, so this would be no problem.

An hour later I come back to pick up my car, and find the hood and front bumper COMPLETELY ETCHED with water stains. The car was clearly parked under an air conditioning unit, and when water like that dries rapidly in 90+ degree heat it PERMANENTLY etches the clear coat. Knowing the valet driver couldn't do squat about it (nor was he careful enough to care), I knew I'd have to take care of this myself. Sure enough, when I got home to test it, I found that the clear coat was in fact etched through the wax on the car and I'm going to have to spend my entire evening machine-polishing and re-sealing the entire front end of the car. EVERY time you have to polish the clear coat, you are shaving off a layer of protection on your paint. THIS WAS A COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE AND UNNECESSARY HASSLE - especially coming from a valet driver who EXPLICITLY told me NOT TO WORRY.

This is why the service industry has a bad reputation - because of incompetent service people like this who offer false assurances and cannot deliver on even the simplest of tasks.

If this is how he treats my new car, I can't even imagine how owners of "much nicer cars" feel after he's neglected them.

Room is ok. The reason why I only give one star (0 stars isn't possible) is the parking service. I knewed that it costs 32$ a day. We had two bikes, need only one parking space and had to pay for two parking spaces. That's a big effrontery

The thing that is slightly frustrating is that even if we get there for the opening, we seem to always just narrowly miss the things we came to do in the first place. So with that being said, yes, there's a lot of people and you need to be on your A-game to accomplish seeing or doing the activities for that night.

We were supposed to have a suite so that my daughter and my boyfriend and I could stay together for a night. I called at 11 AM to confirm and let them know we would be getting in after midnight. When we arrived at 1:30AM after driving 5 hours we had just a king sized bed and no pull out couch. Their were no cots or anything else available. The staff was very friendly and apologetic but it made for a tough night. The room also smelled like urine. The hotel was otherwise quite pretty and clean.

Finally got a chance this weekend to see these beauties up close. We came pretty late at night and still LOTS of peeps walking around here and taking pictures. The lights looked amazing up close! Be careful though some people are hanging all over the posts and swinging around them. Definitely worth checking out.
