Where do I start. The black hairs that were left on my shower wall or the B rating in the continental dining room area? The walls were also so paper thin you could hear your neighbor breathing. Also some of the hotel is beautiful and updated since it was built in the 20's but then you have these rugs that I swear are still there since the 1920's aand not in a good way. On a positive the beds are super comfortable and we really liked the Security/bellhop guy. I do feel they need to upgrade the rugs that look like trash.

This place has a lot of great qualities. It definitely creates a certain vibe which is excellent if you want to feel like you've gone back in time, I mean that in a good way. The hotel has been updated in some ways, but not in others. There's a cool old typewriter with stationary in the lobby in case you feel like typing a letter instead of sending a postcard. The dining hall is big and I had a nice complimentary breakfast there. The room was quiet and updated, but still had that early 20th century feel to it.

When I first walked into the hotel lobby, I was immensely excited and fell in love with the eclectic decor. The staff was polite and helpful, as well. The food at Cassell's, the attached diner, was fabulous. Looks aside, there are a few issues with the hotel I experienced: mainly, maintenance and noise.

We were excited at check-in because we were told we received a "free upgrade to a suite". The extra suite had an additional bathroom, TV, phone, fridge, etc. I thought it would be great to have this extra shower to save time in the mornings instead of having to take turns.

However, the shower in the suite didn't work (no water pressure). Not only that, but the TV didn't work, and neither did the phone. I used my cell my first google the hotel's number, and then asked the front desk to please fix these issues. They were able to get the TV working, and I really didn't care much to get the phone fixed (thank heavens for cell phone tech) but the shower wouldn't have been fixed until after our trip was over, so I let that go. We ended up taking turns to shower in the morning, but an additional working shower would have been so nice.

There hotel is in a noisy part of Koreatown. Expect a lot of honking and yelling way into the night. If you're a light sleeper, I wouldn't recommend staying here. My husband had a lot of trouble staying asleep and woke up in a bad mood.

The wifi is free but spotty on the topmost floor.

The breakfast is pretty carby, if you're into that. Hey, it's free. But if you need a protein-packed breakfast, hop on over next door to Cassell's.

The trouble began at check in. I was told that someone had already checked in under my name. Then I was told but the room I booked, with a king bed, was not available. They gave me a room with 2 double beds. It was already past 2 am and I needed to be at a meeting at 8:30. I told them that room was unacceptable. So I was given a room reserved for someone else. When I entered the room the first thing that hit me was an odor. Most probably what they use in cleaning. But it wasn't pleasant. In the light of day the room looked rather shabby. Very tight and cramped. There is almost no place to put clothing. There are no hangers. The bathroom has no counter.

I stayed at the Hotel Normandie back in August 2013, while in town for a summit. What a gorgeous historic hotel. The staff was fantastic and they even showed me around and gave me a historic tour of the hotel.

We stayed for 5 days. Great location if you have business in the downtown and Hollywood areas. Central to both locations. Nice area with lots of great restaurants. Close to subway and buses. The hotel is well maintained and keeps its old feel. We stayed in a king suite with 4 people comfortably. Very clean rooms, excellent staff. Good continental breakfast. You do get traffic noise if you are on the street side of the building but not too bad. Would recommend.

Great hotel. Set in an old building but well maintained. Near the metro station and near the bus stop. Excellent breakfast. The only thing missing was the bacon. Very kind and courteous receptionists. They don't speak Italian.

Delightful boutique hotel for a reasonable price in Koreatown!

The lobby was absolutely lovely. There is a baby grand piano and an antique typewriter available for guests to use. There are bookshelves full of old books available for reading and plenty of comfortable seating to use while you relax in the lobby. Every evening the hotel provides a complimentary wine tasting.

The rooms are cute and clean! Comfortable pillows and I particularly loved the deep bathtub! Each room has a mini fridge and TV. Unfortunately the TV lost signal frequently, and the fridge wasn't very cold, but neither of these were enough of a bother to effect my stay.

The location was perfect if you want to be in Koreatown! The hotel is next to Mape Kkak Doo Gee, which has great grilled mackerel! Electric scooters are regularly found outside the hotel entrance, which provide an easy way to see neighborhood (especially when it's 100 degrees and you're determined to explore the city anyway).

At $22 parking was a little expensive. However this is the same of you stay one night or several, so it quickly becomes affordable over a long time. The parking was across the street, but there was a loading zone in front of the hotel.

Got a great welcome right as we walked in with their daily wine at reception. The hotel itself has been great. Not sure if this is the right terminology but I'd describe it as swanky. Enjoyed my stay so far.
