This will be the last time we come back to this hotel after 6 years. Even though we requested our usual room, we were allocated an awful one with a low ceiling over the bed, which I kept walking into.

I would rather pay out more and get decent and comfortable accommodation.

The three stars given are for the meals and the very helpful maintenance chap and location.

The outside of the building is beautiful, but the inside is really worn down and feeling its age. With hotels like the Hilton showing off a very polished look, the Norfolk really needs to step its game up.

Historic hotel which is obvious by its appearance outside and furniture inside. Indoor pool is ideal for an early morning swim before an excellent and varied breakfast. Clean and tidy rooms although can be noisy over the weekend if staying in rooms at the front. Staff very friendly and helpful with local enquiries. Will always consider staying here when visiting Bournemouth because it's in such an ideal location.

What a pity! My wife booked us in for a night at the Norfolk Royale Hotel, as a belated wedding anniversary treat. Despite taking our money and sending an email guaranteeing our non-refundable, non-cancellable reservation, the Norfolk Royale subsequently contacted my wife to say our booking couldn't be fulfilled as they had no room, just two days before the bank holiday weekend.

Obviously we've asked for a refund but 24 hours later we still don't have it.

I can't vouch for the rooms. I can't vouch for the service. We've been left high and dry, without accommodation or means to secure alternate arrangements. We were supposed to be packing our bags today, but instead we are chasing around trying to find a room on a sunny bank holiday weekend that starts tomorrow.

No room. No money to book anywhere else. No warning. What should have been a wonderful treat has become a real problem. What should have been a great experience has been a complete let down. I cannot recommend The Norfolk Royale Hotel at all.

Totally overpriced...no air-con, the parking to small and at the end you have to park somewhere else and pay for it, the shower is just a curtain and when you finish the whole bathroom is flooded. No worthy!

Here for 3 nights and we have had a wonderful time. The service was great and staffs were ever so nice. The room was nice and clean but they need new carpet though. Brekfast was nice and everything you was there. Cant complain. One suggestion that the outside need some make over and the colour!! I dont know but having said that we enjoyed our stay and will come back.

It's good

We visited a week ago and found the hotel needs a lot of tlc, paint and wallpaper peeling off walls, carpet threadbare, pool and spa was dirty. Bathrooms, bedrooms, communal areas dirty and dusty. Food was nice but that's the best part of the hotel. If the place was cleaned and given a lick of paint and the carpets replaced the hotel could be lovely.

The radiator was so hot that when I went to open the window it scolded my stomach and a week later I have a 3 inch scar and will be scarred for life. Why would a radiator be so hot it rips skin off on contact ? If a child had done that then god knows the effect

I immediately ran to reception who told me they had no first aid kit and just some bandages. They suggested I put "Body lotion" on it .

The rooms are disgusting I have stayed in 4 different rooms there so far as I have no choice but to stay there as its for business purposes .

Not only that but I have had staff on two separate occasions walk straight into my room without knocking to "check something" thus was despite me putting do not disturb sign on .

And me and my wife were left stood in reception wet through as the door keys didn't work so we were left stood there wet from the swimming pool and unable to get in our room . The place is a joke and no one cares . Terrible hotel terrible service . Shut it down.

I bought a Groupon voucher for an afternoon tea for my friends birthday what a superb afternoon. We arrived early as it was such a hot day and we were immediately felt welcomed by Jack the waiter. He was so attentive providing us with iced water and lots of tea, he even picked up on the fact it was her birthday and put a candle in a scone. He was such a credit to the hotel. We had a fantastic afternoon all to the credit of Jack. Thank you so much Jack, we will definately be back.

Visited for a midweek stay. Outside of the property looks very nice, great location. Check-in was quick and easy, due in no small part to Tanya who was an absolute gem. Allowed us access to our room early so that we could drop our luggage and get on with our day. The hotel is fine for a short stay but shows signs of age and could do with a renovation. We had the honeymoon suite which was very large and well appointed, nice comfy bed and a jacuzzi bath but again, showed signs of wear and tear and lack of attention to detail. Because of this whole Covid hoax nonsense, you now have to book a slot to use the pool, which you get all to yourselves so not all bad, but the pool area itself is a little run down, with mould and grime covering the glass roof, trees in need of pruning etc. Breakfast however was a shambles, we waited to be seated along with several other families behind us and the same waitress walked past us twice, without even acknowledging our presence. Once seated we then waited 45 minutes for our meals to arrive, one of which was missing a menu item. This is not acceptable service when the dining room has clearly been stripped of half the tables. All in all a pleasant stay with some frustrating and needless annoyances. Would still recommend

A warm and welcoming hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. However we felt that the restaurant manager was overly familiar and should not have greeted everyone as if they were his personal friends. The hotel is an excellent place to stay with lovely facilities and perfectly situated for exploring Bournemouth

Hotel ok. Staff very helpful. We had bar food which we found very enjoyable. Unfortunately people in the room above us decided to play there music loudly. Some might like to be awoken at 7.45 to sweet home Alabama playing a full blast but I'm not one of them. Hopefully there speaker will be broken soon as we are here for another 2 nights

We had the most wonderful wedding here last week, held the service in the garden which had been set up beautifully, the wedding breakfast was held in the arundel room which looked beautiful, everyone was so kind, helpful and professional, the food was exceptional, our guests loved the ambience and comfortable surroundings of this most special hotel, we would like to thank everyone for the most wonderful day and evening, huge thanks from Jackie and Mike married here on 23.8.2019 really could not have been better xx

Lovely hotel. Stayed a couple years ago. Good location, lovely heated pool. Really feels like a palace! The general atmosphere in the hotel is amazing, especially in the evening. Lovely rooms too!

Myself my husband and mum with her dog had a wonderful bank holiday weekend at this hotel.
Tanya was truly professional helpful and welcoming nothing was too much trouble.
The staff are all so friendly and welcoming

I could not fault this place, the singer on Saturday was wonderful , singing great 60 s 70 s songs.
Thank you all for a great stay

Hotel room and staff were nice. Toilet in the room was broken on arrival, but they did fix (though it broke again) no air con in the rooms and room did over look a loud road. However the room was spacious and modern as is the whole hotel. I'd stay again but with ear plugs

Clean hotel room with exceptional, friendly staff ...

Clean hotel room with exceptional, friendly staff in the restaurant & bar. Seemed unprofessional at times in Reception, feeling ignored & having personal conversations amongst themselves despite us standing there checking in. Not a good impression. Deluxe room 8 was clean & nice but very worn, uncomfortable lumpy mattresses that clunked & clonked with every bit of movement. Threadbare & dirty carpet & trolley with trays in corridor to room which was very off putting. Appreciate it s an old listed building and air conditioning is not a possibility, but room & restaurant were very hot & stuffy. Got a fan from reception for room but the restaurant needs fans as very uncomfortable when eating & we tended to rush to leave for some air! The Sunday Carvery was excellent & absolutely delicious! Buffet breakfast was average & we did expect a better standard for a four star hotel & in reflection of the price for our stay. As we felt it was no different to the Travelodge or similar establishments buffet breakfast.
On checking out, the male receptionist asked if we were happy with our stay & we said yes it was ok, except for the old uncomfortable beds, which prevented us from having a good sleep. He then ignored our response! Why ask if not interested in hearing our answer? He could have just said, sorry to hear that & we will look into that, even if it wasn t mean t!
We wouldn t return to stay again as there are far better standard of hotels in Bournemouth for the same price or below. When paying good money, expect a good quality bed at least!
However, we would return for the carvery!

Difficult to find a seat in lounge at teatime and dinner time. Catering ok but not all items on menu available. Very noisy air conditioning compressor outside bedroom window kept me awake. Good private parking but not free.

Nice elegant hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are a little warm (no air con) but comfortable. Nice, convenient placement in town just up from the main shopping area and route to the beach.

Great position, helpful staff and a lovely room. Parking a bit expensive, as is breakfast (15 on the day or 10 ore-booked).

Town in a 5 minute walk away, near all the shops and a Starbucks across the road.

Would stay again though.

Comfortable room in a good location. Main negative was that the room was roasting hot, even on a drizzly weekend, installing aircon wouldn't be the worst idea because the fan provided didn't cut it.

Also found the decor of the rooms and public areas fairly dated and unfortunately our bathroom was not the cleanest - marks on the door and toilet and the bin looked like it had been kicked in a rage.

Excellent room, services and all. Except for horrible, underground CAR PARK

Everything was absolutely fine, classic hotel with excellent services. I was happy with my stay.
Only one thing - underground CAR PARK.

Next day when I come in I had massive scratch on front bumper of my Mazda6 Sport. Someone was trying to squeeze between my car and another column...
I didn't bother to report it to reception, because they have notices with information, that they have no responsibility whatsoever about damages in the car park. What a dissapointment.
I am not recommending using underground car park if you have valuable car, or just bigger size one. Try to use front parking, there's only few slots but you may got lucky.
Hope that will help with your stay. Cheers!

Not a very nice place to stay, no one on bar, very very dirty, with deas bugs on window ledge, hair in bed, lots of it. Tea and coffee in room vrry scarce with only 1 cup provided for a room with 2 guests, breakfast was cheap product and not displayed nicely, just dumped on the side, cutlery dirty on the table, and coffee cup stained and still had coffee smears, 2 lights in the room were broken, with 1 falling off the wall, the shower was weak and far to hot, you were not able to change the temperature as it only trickled when on warm, no butlets seen in the 3 days we stayed, reception staff act like its a massive inconvinience to them when you complain, and roll their eyes (this lady had a Duty Manager badge on !) The room keys barely work in any doors including the changing room doors, so your trying 10 - 15 times before it finally works, just horrid, stay away ! No more than a dirty 3 star hotel in my eyes !

A lovely hotel right in the middle of town. Our room was on the ground floor at the back so didn t get that much light as the pavement and road was slightly higher.

I was only there for a race so didn t spend that much time on the room. That said it was a decent size and super clean. The bed was huge and I slept so well both nights. The bathroom was clean and pretty decent.

The breakfast in the morning was okay, nothing too fancy but set you up for the day.
