Fantastic...We booked our stay through Secrets Escapes and had a great, relaxing time. We made use of the facilities such as the swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and steam room which was great. The service was to a very high standard, the staff were friendly and attentive without being in your face. The room was clean and modern and the food was first class....We really can't fault this lovely hotel, we will be back!!

Dont get a room on 1st floor, especially if over the weekend. Place is nice however marked down due to having to travel a mile or so up the road to use their gym and your puddle of a swimming pool. You may as well say you've got two jacuzzis

An old hotel, would be okay but let down by poor housekeeping - rooms need proper cleaning - carpets not hoovered and covered in dust and hair and bed cover looked grubby, mould and hair in bathroom. Shame.

Hotel was nice and the recent make over of the rooms was to a good standard. Certainly a pleasant place to stay.

While the kids were in the pool the maintenance man put in a HUGE amount of Chlorine in and we had no choice but to leave. Why wasn't this done when the pool was closed.?

Has the potential to be a great hotel, as it has things like Netflix in the rooms, and a nice charm to it.

Staff went above and beyond in every way, at all times. Covid arrangements very organised but unintrusive. Room beautiful. Bathroom clean and lovely. Restaurant exceptional and extremely reasonably priced. Being able to book pool to ourselves for an hour was a fabulous bonus for two tired and weary midwives looking to unwind. We will most definitely be back.

Attended a friend's wedding and I must say the bar and reception area were lovely. The suite where they held the ceremony was a bit dated in its decor but it did the job and looked great with all the personal touches the bride and groom added themselves. The food was great and the staff were really friendly.

Just returned from spending a lovely couple of days staying here and celebrating my Uncle's wedding. Everything was really lovely and the staff were all really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. One down side when you first arrive is that key to the room does not always work first time so can be a bit of a hassle but that was sorted really quickly and easily.

It is not what is advertised in the photos.
This hotel is definitely not a luxury hotel nor a 4 stars:
- no A/C!!!
- the elevator works as a miracle.
- the shower was dirty and the shower mat nasty.

Went for afternoon tea on Wed 12th June at 2.30. Tea was served at 3.00pm. It was all lovely. Shame that when we left at 8.00pm all of our tea items and drinks that we had after were still on the table. At no time in 5 hours had anyone attempted to clear anything or offer to see if we were OK. I approached the gentleman on reception on the way out. I let him know what had happened, and all he could do was shrug his shoulders. Terrible guest service all round.

Overall this was a nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay. Good points: spotless clean room, car parking was very useful, lovely breakfast. Bad points: bar tender was slow and inattentive, had to chase up sandwich order (even though bar was very quiet), similarly kept waiting at reception while lady messed about trying to print our receipt, staff were keen to help but lacked the slick professionalism you get in other places. The sandwich when it did arrive was amazing.

The cream tea is lovely here, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Very accommodating to children

Parking on they're own forecourt can sometimes be difficult but there's plenty of parking in the surrounding areas to compensate

The room itself was fine, nothing special. The hotel as a whole though is dirty, noisy. Every floorboard in the building creaks and thuds... makes it a bit difficult to get a good night's sleep with people crunching floorboards outside your room every 2 minutes.

The real issue I have is the restaurant. Roast Beef, couldn't get my fork into it, couldn't chew it, disgusting. I had a very upset stomach for days after, my doctor suspected food poisoning.

Avoid, avoid, avoid!

I went for afternoon tea at in December. Their Christmas decorations where amazing and made you feel really festive. A good place for social distancing too.
It was good quality food, we both felt full and satisfied after eating there. The staff where really polite, friendly and patient. That was my sisters second time going there and she said they where treated the same last time.
The outside outside could do with a clean but if that's not something your worried about, I would 100% recommend.

The hotel was ideally located in close proximity to the shops, pubs and the beach.
Would definitely go back again.

Although we did not stay at the Hotel, my Daughter and I booked champagne afternoon tea for this afternoon at 2.30pm. The Hotel is nice and the food was lovely. I would like to say a special thank you to the young male member of staff that made sure we enjoyed our visit even though he was very busy and the only member of staff at the bar serving everyone, showing guests to their seats and serving their afternoon tea. He did a fantastic job. I am only sorry I didn't ask his name but you were short staffed.

I booked the Norfolk Hotel as your hotel appeared good quality on your website and I didn't mind paying for this , it was a central location to the town and close to the beach.

On my way to check out I noted the cleaners had piles of clean laundry placed on the floor of the corridors on level 1, some in a plastic wrap other were left open again during Covid these should not be exposed to people passing by that could lead to contamination. Not only does this look unprofessional for a 4* hotel but it poses a huge risk to residents should a fire break out. These towels are blocking the routes leading to fire exists, are a major trip hazard and hindering social distancing, surely this is unexpectable. If the management team spent time investing during lockdown doing the repairs to the hotel it may have a bright future

Staff attentive, own parking at a price! Rooms large well furnished, no outside/ background noise obvious, garden area would be great in warmer times. We had 3 courses at night and breakfast, evening meal choices including "specials" v good, particularly the fish options, breakfast uninspiring!

Firstly, no one on reception to greet us!! Bit rude. This was a little present for us for our engagement.

The sink in our room was disgusting. Hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time. I wouldnt brush my teeth. I have pictures for the manager to look at.

In our room was a happy birthday card!!! Made us question if it was our room.

We decided to go to the "indoor pool" , was in there 20 minutes. Upon walking in, cigarette ends where on one of the seats!!! Yuk. Mould everywhere and it stunk of bleach . Was filthy. I have pictures.

Trying to sleep in a bed that tilted was radiculous. I hardly slept.

Breakfast was mediocre, friend eggs in loads of oil. Scrambled eggs dry, staff where nice.

I don't understand how this is rated 4 star. I don't think we would return.

I would expect a call from the manager. Room 309 on the 19 th october

Great Birthday Weekend

Great Birthday Weekend

Spent a lovely weekend at The Royal Norfolk in September for my 50th Birthday. Had 4 rooms, one which was booked last minute & even though they was really busy managed to fit them in. Rooms were clean, comfortable & inviting with fully stocked mini bars The pool was fantastic & garden beautiful , the weather was great so spent a lot of time out there. We booked an afternoon tea & pamper through the hotel, the treatments with Westover Spa were amazing, so relaxing & the afternoon tea was fantastic, very tasty & plentiful, warm scones were melt in the mouth. We had a lovely singer on Saturday evening, who got everyone singing along & the bar staff were very attentive & helpful. The breakfasts were lovely, not rushed & again plentiful. We stayed for the Sunday Roast before heading home, which was so scrummy will definitely be going there again for lunch.
Overall had a great stay, staff were lovely, hotel was clean & tidy & with a little nostalgia made it wonderful. Thank you so much xx

stayed this weekend, in 2019 not having air conditioning or any air circulation is not acceptable, room was like a sauna. I didn t sleep at all, even with the cheap fan they proved. The sash windows for safety reasons open about 2inchs. the hotel decor is dated, old & tired. The lift door is the slowest opening and closing i ve ever seen. arrived 5pm Friday room wasn t ready took 40mins (unacceptable) . good location is the only redeeming feature, i wouldn t stay again or recommend, for the price the hotel doesn t provide value
