Missed the personalised service you associate with in hospitality- Infact, Found the reception team too cold. Hotel is quite old and not so clean, so had to prevent kids from doing much. Parking charge was exorbitant, considering there's a Richmond Gardens park across the road at half the price. Would think twice before booking again..

Pleasantly surprised, about 120 for a twin room, extremely clean (especially the bathroom), well laid out, helpful staff, large TV. Didn't stay for long but they had a great singer in the lobby for Saturday night entertainment. Walking distance to most Bournemouth attractions.

Overall, I'd definitely stay again!

Gated parking which was good (however slightly expensive per night) and close to the town centre with an 8 min walk to the beachfront/pier. The room instelf; a twin, was spacious to say the least and nicely outfitted. My only complaint would be that the boiler made a consistent whirring type of noise, while relatively quiet, it was slightly annoying. All in all a good hotel.

Without doubt the worst place I ve ever had the misfortune of staying in! Absolutely horrendous!

My girlfriend and I booked back in Feb to stay here for the August bank hol weekend, the hotel looked decent and was a good location and cheaper than most other options available..sounds good right?? Wrong!!

We arrived at 12pm on Saturday, told we couldn t check in until 3pm as room wasn t ready (slightly late? Even on the continent it s usually 12pm-2pm). We asked if we could leave our cases at the hotel (we had planned a walk along the beach/lunch etc) but were told we couldn t, although the receptionist didn t explain why. (This was despite seeing a review in the week we travelled thanking staff for allowing a visitor to leave their luggage at the hotel)

We both questioned the receptionist and asked in that case if she knew anywhere that we could store our luggage as they couldn t and were met with shrugged shoulders and a distinct lack of any care.

Once in the room we quickly discovered it looked nothing like what we had seen, tired, dreary and dated (part of me was wondering if I d pitched up at Alf Garnett s house) we put the cases down and unpacked and had a look around and look what we found...

- A disgusting and dirty wardrobe absolutely covered in dust inside and on top (dust on my hand from above the wardrobe)

- Dusty lamp with a broken lampshade
- Dusty trouser press
- Dirty, old kettle full of limescale
- Dusty, scratched bedside table
- Dirty, scratched bathtub
- Broken and chipped bathroom tiles and sink
- Dirty and stained armchairs (including 1 with a tear in)
- Stubborn, stiff and difficult to open windows (great when you have no air con!)

We would be still there taking pictures if we highlighted every issue. You almost had to laugh it was so bad!

We thought it couldn t get any worse but roll on Sunday morning, as my girlfriend is washing her face the tap comes loose and starts spouting hot water everywhere!! I called maintenance and were informed they didn t start until 10am (it was 8:30am at the time) we simply had to use the towels we had and hope it would stem the flow until maintenance arrived.

Once cleaned up and sorted we headed out and were met with a foul stench of garbage emanating from the corridors (seemingly through a staff/storage room) upon our return over 3 hours later this has not dissipated, somehow staff sat there eating lunch as well.

We had a booking for the pool at 4pm which we attended and were given towels for, however the pool was dirty, outside of the pool there were used tissues and an empty bottle lying around and debris and dirt in and atop the pool.

Thankfully we were near the end of our stay, we went out for the evening and incredibly the rest of the time in the hotel we survived unscathed despite struggling to sleep on bobbly uncomfortable pillows!

On the Monday we were given no indication of what time we d be checking out and had to look online for ourselves. We were just about to leave our room and we received a knock on our door from maintenance man number 2 saying he was here to fix a tap laughable.

I m baffled as to how anyone would think that is 4* accommodation, I wouldn t class it as 1* and my review would be 0* if Google made it possible! (Do it please google!!)

I would rather have spent 2 nights sleeping on the National express coach, in fact I d rather have spent the 2 days learning to be a half decent contortionist and squeezed my way inside my case that this absolute sham of a place made me lug everywhere!

Appalling in every way!!

I didn t stay at Norfolk hotel but had a afternoon tea. I must say the sandwiches tasted as if they had been in the fridge for a long time and the salmon was only covering half of the finger sandwich making it basically bread and butter. The scones were very doughy and the tea was awful left my mouth feeling like I d eaten chalk. No top up of tea was offered in fact we left without seeing an employee again.
If you are looking for a get together it s fine but don t expect it to be anything special. We had a groupon deal and felt that was still overpriced. Sorry Norfolk but I was disappointed.

Good hotel. Clearly a lot of money has been invested in the hotel recently. Rooms are a good size, beds very comfortable. A personal observation was that the room I had felt a little gloomy but really a minor quibble. Food was excellent, no local real ales in bar which was a shame.

we were in Bournemouth for friend's birthday. An absolute delight to have stayed in Norfolk Royale in Bournemouth. From friendly staff to the excellent food and afternoon tea. Loved the old heritage and decor. Hotel met our expectations as everyone had a great time. Thanks Mehroz for for looking after us !! it has been a pleasure. lift just needs to be a little bit faster but most of us used the stairs. The rooms were big and spacious. The hotel was clean and staff was well dressed. surely coming back

This place has the potential to be 4 star but is missing the mark due to cleanliness.

Room was a good size with a large bed and TV, however there was a lovely black curly on my bed sheet on arrival. Bed wasn't made properly the duvet was all twisted in the cover so my side of the bed was basically just a sheet. Lamp shade were dusty and hadn't even been put straight. Chairs were old and worn with tears. Corridors need some TLC they are filthy and had me worried before getting into out room. Clean bathroom though just needs to be updated as it's a little tired.

Things out of the hotels control that lead to us having the worst nights sleep prior to a wedding in the morning ... we were placed opposite the lift meaning that we had every drunk loud person stood outside of our room while they discussed the night and said goodbye. A 2am argument in the room next door ending with lots of loud bangs, doors slamming and a girl crying in the corridor. Racial insults being shouted and screamed outside of our window meant that we couldn't sleep.

I write this still in the hotel. I just hope breakfast is good to make up for my lack of sleep...

Looks nice from the outside (not sure about the pink). Foyer is nice enough. The family room was decent sized and my daughter loved the bunk bed concept (although she said it wasn't comfortable). The hotel is tired and needs freshening. The More

A great location but the hotel is tired and the breakfast was average and it didn t help we were served a raw sausage. If they invested in lockdown they could be commanding a lot more per night. The tiles in the bathroom were falling off the walls and there was a build up of mould and wasn t as clean as we would expect. If you want well priced and don t mind a degree of compromise then go for it.

The Hotel it's self is lovely and the Staff are brilliant..
The problem is cleanliness are something else. In 4 days I have not seen any part of the the public areas Vacuumed. Areas in the bar are still as dirty as the day we arrived (crumbs everywhere). The carpets are thread bare in places..
Our room... well the bath needs changing (See pic) and the sink is cracked.

It was close to the shops, restaurants, gardens and not that far to walk to the beach. The rooms were nice, although the shower had cold water and we had to use the handheld one attached to the bath taps. The buffet breakfast was very nice. I would definitely go back there.

A wonderfully old fashioned hotel in the heart of Bournemouth. The rooms are well kept, equipped, and the staff are lovely.

If there is one downside its a lack of integrated air conditioning, however, its an old building so its a forgivable omission!

We spent Easter weekend here and loved it! Great giant sized bathroom with shower and soaker tub and a super comfy bed. The small pool was very warm and lovely. The staff were also quite friendly.

We very much enjoyed our two night stay. This was mostly due to the open friendliness of the staff. The hotel is beautifully old-fashioned and beginning to show its age. It would be cruel, however, to describe it as tatty or dirty - excluding some carpeting and the cushion seating in the restaurant. Having said that there were a few details that could have improved our experience.
- the guest lift is a bad joke, - only one tooth mug and one coffee spoon for 2 people, - there was no lamp on the desk so end of room in semi-darkness, -breakfast ingredients were fine but cold, sausages solid, eggs served on a dinner-plate in a pile so hard to pick up intact, baked beans in one soggy mess like a stew, -TV screwed to wall so inposs to see from the bed, - restaurant coffee like dark mud, - electric kettle had bent lid which allowed steam to emerge onto user's hand and sometimes failed to turn off when boiled, - the piped music throughout the building was too loud and intrusive.
But we still enjoyed our stay. Bournemouth is fabulous.

This exquisite hotel is an absolute delight to stay in. Retaining many of the Edwardian features adding 21st century facilities and delightful staff.
I was so impressed I extended my stay!
Yes there are cheaper options but with the Royale you really do get what you pay for. My suggestion, spend a bit more and really enjoy your stay in Bournemouth!

I went for a Christmas dinner here with friends the food was excellent as was the service. Would fully recommend this place to anyone having a meal out with a large group of friends/family.

My wife and I have stayed here about four times so far. First time we were in a room overlooking the road which was too noisy. We have stayed in a suite which was good and great value. Most times we have stayed in executive rooms. This time we arrived and were placed in a room that overlooked the road that was noisy and also had twin beds rather than a double. We raised this and were moved to a room overlooking the garden which was quiet. Breakfast is great and we tried the carvery on the Sunday this time which we liked and can recommend. The hotel is very central in Bournemouth. We will be back and can recommend staying here if you are looking for a reasonably priced decent place to stay that is central in Bournemouth.

The first time I ve told restaurant staff I have a nut allergy, checked my dish is nut free and been served nuts anyway. When I asked the waiter what the stuff round the edge of the plate was, he didn t know and had to go and ask another waiter, who confirmed it was crushed pistachio.

Although room was good, the breakfast on both days of my stay was really under par for a 4star hotel and the price paid for breakfast.
Very limited hot food out and low quality. I would probably stay again but without breakfast, although that is a shame that they can't make an effort with it.

Was very nice and clean. Plenty of sanitizer available during these bad times. Kitchen was under duress as breakfast was a bit slow and incomplete so had to call staff over, but all in all a very pleasant stay.
