Visiting NY aquarium was a very pleasant experience!
It was really relaxing and exciting at the same time.
The premises are state of the art, I was told, because I've never been in an aquarium before.
After the visit there you would know more about the sea creatures, especially sharks of all kinds, you'll see, those ultra cute penguins and many other species.
Please make sure, that you can stay there at least for 3 hours.

It is not very big but it is very beautiful and also has a small cinema as an additional entertainment for children and also for adults.

My son enjoyed spending his second birthday at the Aquarium especially the new shark exhibit. Was overwhelmed with excitement pointing and naming all the Water creatures he has been seeing in pictures and in his toys. It truly is a perfect Addition. It almost feel like your in the water with these awesome animals at some points of the Exhibit.

The place is relatively small/old and you won't be seeing much variety of aquarium species. It's definitely not worth the admission ticket. Take your kids to Bronx Zoo or one of the museums in Manhattan.

At the moment, visiting the aquarium is a bit expensive if you drive due to the cost of parking and then the entrance fee. However, if you use mass transit it will not cost as much. The aquarium was a great place to visit with the family. ..Until Sandy decided to visit there too and destroyed many of the exhibits. However, it is scheduled for a grand reopening with all new exhibits summer of 2016 if there are no delays. I am looking forward to it. Till then, only a few of the exhibits are open and should take an hour or so to explore.

Took a family trip here couple weekends ago. It's alright although I was expecting more so was my six year old. Currently construction is going on to expand the aquarium so some areas are off limits. There's a seal lion show every half an hour etc. Sharks were pretty cool to see. Tickets were about 11 bucks each for kids and adults. It was alright. Parking however tends to fill out quickly so you may have to park on the street if you find any parking space and take into consideration parking meters. We ended just walking over to Luna park(coney island) and had a great time.

Small aquarium, definitely not of the caliber of NYC s world-famous museums. The sea otter feeding was fun and some of the tanks have interesting fish in them. The shark exhibit was moderately cool. It s the best NYC has, so might as well visit.

Definitely would not survive here in FL, was SUPER hot outside and the AC was barely blowing inside. I myself would NEVER go back again but I can't blame people who live close for going!

Worth the trip out to Coney Island! Great place to visit for the whole family and right next to the broad walk. The staff is very friendly and helpful with young kids. Also, the sea lion show is totally worth it!

If you get a day off make sure you take a trip to this amazing aquarium. It use to be a small Aquarium. Now it's becoming (still under construction) a gorgeous Aqarium! Go now (9/2018) while it's still on discounted rate due to ongoing construction. Make sure you go to the rooftop cafe and bar to see the spectacular views of the boardwalk on beloved Coney Island.

The only two things that were worth paying for were the "sea lion show", and the "Wonders of the Sea: Sharks"
Everything else seemed very poorly maintained and cared for, and half of the park was closed for due to construction.

When the park is finished, it will probably be a much nicer Aquarium. But until then, don't bother.

The prices are just ridiculous, OK i understand adults BUT FOR KIDS $30 IS JUST OVERRATED.
Its cheaper for us to travel abroad, Italy for example, where the country really cares about kids and dont charge kids under 13 ANYTHING, literally, travel or any attractions. Well this is what we do, last year we visited Aquarium in Turkey BEST Aquarium EVER - They charge 50+- Turkish Lira, approx. 10$.

Service and Crowd is better too ")

We went as a field trip. It rained and they refused to give us a rainy day pass. Our students basically paid $9 to see the 10 minutes 4D Ice Age movie. They were very disappoint. No discount for teachers.

Half price entry still didn t represent good value for money.

Sure, I know it s still in development, but there wasn t enough to see and far too many people to make the experience worthwhile.

We didn t have the luxury of buying tickets in advance so queues for 40 mins to get in. That would have been fine, but it was so busy inside that you wouldn t physically get anywhere near the glass tanks to see any of the fish. Moving outside we decided we wouldn t join the queue for the shark building as this was running at about an hour which given the heat and lack of shade made it unrealistic for kids to bear. (See photos)

With this out of the question it only left a couple more actual areas open to view which was massively disappointing.

In summary, yes it is peak season, but rather than limit places (which would at least make the experience a bit less cramped) it seemed to be a race to take as much money as possible and don t worry about the customers poor experience.

Having been to some good aquariums around the world I still don t think this deserves the bold title of New York Aquarium .. a title far too grand for frankly an average day out. With all of the venues we took the kids to around NY this was by far the worst value for money, even with the half price offer.

I usually don t write reviews, but felt the need to write a short review to debunk all the horrible reviews posted about the New York aquarium. My family and I just left the acquium and we enjoyed every moment. The facility was clean, staff were friendly and the exibits were beautiful. They 4D show was amazing and the sea lion show was out of this world. I would highly recommend visiting. I m so amazed at all all the poor reviews they received. I was tempted not to go based on these reviews. Very happy I did!
