Great place to relax and you always seem to learn something new about the creatures you've probably seen lots of times. Always exciting to see the colorful selections of fish, amusing to watch the cute penguins, and the seal show is definitely worth seeing.

Aside from this, their mission of conservation is quite admirable and the education of the public about these issues is highly necessary in an age where wildlife populations are constantly threatened. The aquarium is a place worth supporting.

It's a nice place to visit. Good for both kids and adults. Educational and entertaining. The aquarium inside is beautiful.
Admission could be less expensive for the amount of items offered in the winter months.

Definitely worth the visit but would strongly recommended getting the family pass as one visit for 2 adults and 1 child is $70.00 plus parking, but pass is $115 for unlimited visits. Shark experience is great feels like you are in the tank. Can't wait to the new section opens. Great experience for children.

It's a nice place to visit especially when the crowd is minimal. I look forward to the shark tank being opened up. I do hope that with the new renovations its doing, it improves the overall look of the aquarium as it was a bit run-down looking in certain areas.

The new shark exhibit is amazing but the line is ridiculous. It's like being at Disney World. The sea lion show a lot of fun the trainers are very entertaining and put on a great show.

I purchased 4 tickets on Groupon to go to the aquarium. I got there and they scanned 3 for some reason the 4th one didn t have a barcode however they saw it was purchased it was the same as the rest and I showed them my bank account that it was taken out. They wouldn t let me in and the other 3 were redeemed. They told me buy another ticket. I had 2 kids with me I went outside to see if I could get service to get in touch with Groupon no one ended up getting in and the manager Kaitlyn told me I told you I don t know what to tell you when I told her I have 2 kids here and you already redeemed the other 3 tickets isn t there anything you can do. Now I have lost money on 4 tickets and no one went in! She was rude and did nothing to even try to help me even though she saw it was paid and I was with kids. I would NEVER go back and I will be getting in touch with corporate.

It was so bad. There were so many people there a d it was hot. They stop sling water and i was feeling sick. The lines were long and the sun was cooking the kiddos. We left and they had a push turn style so people couldnt get strollers out ugh

This is my first time here at the NY Aquarium near Coney Island.
I don't remembering ever coming here as a child. My mom probably didn't know about it or we were too busy just hanging around the rides that the Aquarium was not noticed. But, bringing my son, mom, husband and myself here for the first time was a great adventure. We arrived too late and didn't get to spend as much time as we wanted. We'll be coming back to visit again next year.

The Aquarium is a fun place to visit especially with the recent expansion that added small sharks. If you go don't try to rush through the whole thing too quickly, take your time and enjoy what they have to offer.

Went 10 Years Ago After The Hurricane Hit. Wasnt Very Good Then. It Was Very Dirty And Super Small. We Just Went Last Week. Didn't Get Much Better. The Sea Lion Show Was Pretty Good But Only Lasted Like 15 Mins. It Took Longer To Get Out Of The Arena After The Show.(Not Lying). They Have Pelicans, Seals & River Otters Outside. Its Pretty Small And Empty. Best Part Was The New Shark Exhibit. Other Then That Its Ehh. Definitely Wont Drive 4.5 Hrs For This Again!

Half the exhibits were under construction it was kind of dirty and outdated I wanted to see starfish and they were sleeping and the exhibit was closed the tanks look like they haven't been cleaned in years and the food is too overpriced.

The new shark exhibit is amazing! Definitely worth a visit. Make. Sure to see the sea lion show too. It's small but well done. I like the new emphasis on the dangers of plastic in the oceans and educating people about that crisis.

Went with my family, all of us as well as everyone there were wearing masks.
The staff, was horrible, kept yelling put your masks on! Everyone was wearing it, staff was openly talking to each other, about how we shouldn't be there, and there's to many ppl there, place was empty. They were just nasty nasty nasty all of them.
Aside for the fact that half the exhibits were closed. $26 a person took us 40 minutes to walk thru entire place. Shame NYC can't have 1 good aquarium.

Was extremely disappointed. The Aquarium is under renovations, so there are few exhibits. The sea lion show & the 4-D movie were really the only attractions but for only $12 it's still a good deal. Try to get Aquatheater early so you can sit down front and be up close and personal with the sea lions. Still a nice place to visit with the family and then stroll the boardwalk.

Very small place. They are upgrading their facility. But when I was there it took 30 minutes to get through all exhibits. I have a wildlife conservation membership so it was free. I wouldn't pay to go here as it was. They have penguins, otter, sea lions and sharks. Inside theres a few aquariums with big and exotic fish but thats pretty much it.

The shark exhibit is especially wonderful in the way of highlighting the importance of sharks and the destruction that pollution can cause - a thought provoking and beautiful place to see these ocean predators. And hey, you also get to see otters cuddling!

The renovated shark exhibit is beautiful but didn t meet my expectations, however is worth the trip. Kids 6 and up get to touch a shark and a sea star. Will make another trip when they open other part being renovate.

The bar is horrible. My bf and I was service hot tequila. We both thought it was ice cold because of the glasses being cold but when we begin to drink the alcohol it was so hot that we both spit it out.

Great no matter what the season. The animals were amazing to see as well as the show they host. It's currently under construction until late 2017 but was still amazing nonetheless. Cant wait to go back once everything is all finished or maybe even sooner.

4 years and counting for it to be fixed. Either don't charge or change the prices. Full price for a couple of exhibits. Terrible.... in and out in about 20 minutes. Wouldn't mind if I went with just my wife. But when your paying prices like that, definitely not worth it.

Visit was just ok, I imagine once all construction is completed in January 2018, I'm told, the experience for me will rank better. The big Show was compromised so much since I last viewed it, seemed like it could use unrehearsed crowd involvement/entertainment. Not impressed this time around. I will check again next year.

The NY Aquarium is a gem within a gem; New York being a place of unlimited interest and significant history. The after-storm rebuild has resulted in an even better aquarium than the great one it was pre-storm.

We visited for the first time since the reopening recently. Being kind of "pre-season" there were parts closed for sprucing up, but what was open was fascinating to everyone we saw moving through. The "shark tunnel" is a must-see, though when previewed on a weekend TV show not long ago looked longer than it actually is. Still, it's quite the experience seeing marine life swimming in front of, then over you.

If you'll be a one-time visitor it can be an expensive experience, but definitely worth it once everything is up and running. That being said, calling ahead to check it out would not be a bad idea. If you intend to make repeat visits it would pay to join the Wildlife Conservation Society, which provides access to the larger facilities in NYC: Bronx and Central Park zoos and the Aquarium. If you have kids/grandkids/neices/nephews it's ABSOLUTELY worthwhile, with 3-and-ups better served because their curiosities are in full bloom. Watching them discover and enjoy can be as fascinating as the exhibits.

The New York Aquarium is an okay aquarium to visit. It's one of the smaller ones but if you only have a few hours then it might be a good stop on your list when visiting the Coney Island area. If you have small kids they will surely find this place a blast.

Amazing place: romantic (for couples), relaxing (for seniors) and magical (for kids)! Some creative parents tell their children fairy tales, while the little ones watch the mysterious underwater world... We are seniors, but we also like to stay nearby and listen to a fairy tale.
Don't miss the sea lions show!
All three pavilions (Conservation, Spineless and Sharks) are great! And outside you could see penguins, sea lions, otters and seals.
The place is very clean, the staff are helpful and pleasant. The food is high quality and affordable. It is also allowed to bring your own meal. You can dine downstairs among the trees and flowers or upstairs on the terrace overlooking the ocean.
Come and enjoy your visit!

While the renovations are a step up, the exhibits leave much to be desired. For the half price admission, the extremely long lines and paltry exhibits makes for a frustrating experience. The parking is disorganized and inadequate.
