The Troll Hunt was fun, the Nephew loved it. And I like that they have parking spots and can use a car to get to most of the trolls. Will do again walking when weather is more appropriate.

What's not to love about an arboretum! I just spent my birthday here enjoying the picturesque views.

The only thing I would say needs improving was the admission procedure. Once you come to the ticket sale booth you are told you need to purchase online. Then you are sent to double park, register on your phone, get a QR code sent to your email, circle back around and then get scanned.

Oh well, once you're in, it's worth it. Just get your ticket online ahead of time :)

This was a family trip to the arboretum during the Christmas holidays. The light show was like nothing I have ever experienced before. Such a creative display! The trees actually appeared as though they were walking, running and breathing. It's a great way to spend some outdoor time with the entire family.

Great place! But what's up with the toilet facilities? If you expect crowds either you built more or at least have port-a-potties. Yeah I understand that nature is the big star of the show, but we have to accommodate our guests

YOU HAVE TO SEE THE TROLLS!! What a fantastic exhibit. Make sure you're wearing comfy walking shoes it's about 5 miles of walking and that's even with driving to each troll. Pack up the camera and the kids and head out for a fun day in the most beautiful natural setting anywhere around.

Absolutely excellent! The staff, presentations, and exhibits are amazing!
I went to the new member presentation today coordinated by Karin Jaros about the living collections with their curator. It was an extremely informative and interesting presentation with Q&A afterwards.
We were also able to walk the grounds after. The curator Matt Lobdell said You have to find the Japanese Umbrella tree and feel the pine needles, it s like something you ve never felt before. So of course, my friend and I had to scour the Asia collection. We ended up going through the hiking trials (on accident, we are not the hiking type) but saw many interesting trees! We didn t find the Umbrella Tree so we went back to the visitor center to get help.
The staff, in particular Liz McCleary, was very helpful and located the tree for us and wrote on our map where to go. We were able to find it with her help (and the journey was definitely fun!) and feel the needles. Thank you to Karin, Liz, Matt, and the rest of the amazing Morton team! I can t wait to go back!

This is a very large arboretum, perfect for an afternoon of hiking and biking, or a family visit to the children's area. It can get crowded, but they handle crowds very well and the parking is very organized. The children's area is very adventurous and perfect for little kids. The food is also very delicious, and not too overpriced. The hiking and biking trails out in the woods are very well-kept and fun. Some highlights for me are the expansive hedge maze with a lookout tower encompassing a tree, and the wading pond where you can catch tadpoles and water-bugs. This arboretum is a long drive from Chicago, but the trek is definitely worth it.
