Been coming coming here for years and I always enjoy my time here, whether I want to get out and enjoy a nice nature walk with someone, attend a special event such as their special doggy days or winter tree lighting show, or have needed to get some good scenery for a class film project in the past. A variety of different seasonal sights to see, from beautiful blossoms, scenic lakes or the prairie grasslands. Also a great place for Pokemon Go!
First time I have been to an Arboretum. It was so much fun. Grounds were well cared for. I loved it. Wish we could be there with all the Christmas decorations. They were putting them up while we were there and looked great.
Beautiful place. Some parents seem like they don't watch their children but that happens anywhere you go. the nice thing is here since you have to pay to get in and it's a little further away you don't get that many of the kind of people that let their kids run wild.
Very beautiful place to visit! This place has a big children's area that you can walk through and find an area to relax and play. It also has bike rentals with a toddler trailer attachment.
What can I say. Always a great time. We are members for a long time but think this ticketing system is unnecessary. There is plenty of social distancing space and no need for restrictions.
So much fun and very walkable even for people that can't do much walking they have shortcuts so older people can get to see the trolls. The troll hunt was actually the highlight of my family coming down to visit. Everyone got to see the trolls. It is walkable and drivable and I would recommend this to anyone because it is absolutely amazing and tranquil to be in these woods and there's so much to learn and see I am seriously considering getting a yearly membership this next year.
The illumination show was super - really enjoyed it
A little slice of heaven when the leaves start to turn.
What a relaxing place to visit. Beautiful trees and flowers all around. This country needs more arboretums. Go visit and see for yourself.
Delicious lunch and view, love the gift shop with most unique items.
My husband and I drove by the troll near the highway during a visit to Illinois, and we just had to make plans to visit the arboretum after spotting him on the hill! We had a great time following the map to find all of the trolls and the LEGO statues. Bring good walking shoes; you can drive much of it but you do have to park and walk if you want to see all of the trolls. It was a fantastic experience and one we would highly recommend to all!
Its a place to find your zen, connect with nature and or meditate in a group and or privately! Great visuals and suits all your senses.
Very peaceful and a refreshing place in the middle of the city. Carry bug sprays, you'll be bitten:)
They were having a special going on where they would apply your entrance fee towards a membership. We got a year long membership for only an additional $5.
Beautiful grounds. Nice place to visit, run, bike or hike.
Morton has a great outer loop to drive through. Was awesome for a sleeping baby! Also great hiking trails and a nice and large kids area. My 6 year old loves the rope bridges and the frog pond.
I go every year to see the Christmas lights. Good place to take the family.
The troll hunt is lots of fun. Give the kids a map and let them run...
Beautiful gardens! Fun children's garden! Relaxing tram ride. The Lego and Troll exhibits are very cool!
What a great place. My girlfriend and I love going on hikes and trying different trails each time. We found this gem online and we were intrigued by the Troll Hunt. We arrived around noon and the arboretum was quite busy which was really nice to see. The information center was extremely helpful, there are very detailed maps of the whole arboretum. We journeyed on to the Troll Hunt and it was so much fun! You can either hike or drive to each troll for those who just want to see them. It s about 7 miles to see them all. There was also a garden full of LEGO sculptures which was a pleasant treat.
Excellent place to walk exercise to take the children or ride a bicycle, charge entrance but it is worth spending a whole day surrounded by nature, excellent staff very attentive and everything is very well marked. They sell food souvenirs, and rent bicycles. I definitely recommend this place for the whole family or just to do exercises
Attended wine & art festival, then walked through other areas. Children's gardens are especially nice for families.
Really fun for families but do not forget your bug spray
Absolutely lovely place to spend a day, the addition of the trolls has greatly increased the visitor numbers so be aware of that but they do have events going on more or less year round which is great. I cannot wait to e how they do the gnome hunts this winter!
Love this, place. Pricey to go and walk around but beautiful.
Troll and Lego exhibits were really cool. Lovely well maintained property
One of my favorite places to visit all year round. Very much worth becoming a member!
Fun, very family friendly, great for hiking and biking and enjoying nature!!
The place is EXCELLENT!!!! I'm going to get a membership, that's how much my family and I liked it!
Nice range of hiking trails ranging from paved half mile to 5-mile loop. XC skiing and snow-shoeing in winter (rentals at visitor center).
Excellent destination for nature lovers, children, and to experience special events of exhibitions. The Troll Hunt is inspired...
Great place for hiking and biking. Lego display and huge trolls to find, a children's garden and lots more to explore. One day admission is a little pricey.
Went for the sled dog event. It was cold and snowy but the place is beautiful and the gift shop is amazing. Not inexpensive but anything you do buy is clearly worth the money.
Definitely a treasure in the western suburbs. Many seasonal programs, and the artistic installations scattered among the trees representing the variety of longest living species on earth, give us access to the most beautiful beings on earth in new and innovative ways.
Illumination event was extraordinary. Beautiful displays and enough concessions tents throughout to keep you warm and full!
The kids park is very well designed, it is worth a reward, but it is a private garden, so there is a ticket fee
My daughter loves the Arboretum. We go a. Few times a month. She loves the children's area and the Troll Hunt(she calls them Bergens like from the trolls movie). I love how we get lots of fresh air and I love to drive thru both sides because the senery is just so beautiful.
October 13, 2019: I also want to add that I had my first tram tour which was amazing! Greg, the driver was so friendly and knowledgeable about the trees and everything on the tour. He was also very kind helping much older guests off the tram and retrieving their walkers for them. He was the best! Not to mention, he was very cute. So, if you get a chance, do a tram tour with him.
The lights were magnificent. Bring your camera and be sure not to miss the projection mapping on the evergreens near the end of the route.
This place is huge! Allow yourself plenty of time to transverse the grounds. Wonderful photo ops. Serene settings throughout. Parking is free. Look up discounted days.
A little expensive to look at trees, gift shop nice
It was ok but I expected to see flowers and there weren't any
It s the driving tour version of the Chicago Botanic Gardens! Love the trolls.
I went there on the spur of the moment, I was passing by with my little ones, as I like to call them, only to find out they don't allow dogs. Seems to me like they should. It is an outdoor place with walking areas. Maybe just limit the areas they are allowed. Just saying!!!
Amazing place really wonderful walking is the best thing for you in this place is the best thing for walking. A little pricey period it seems everyone can't enjoy this but it's worth the price.
Liked the trail around the lily pond next to the visitor center! They even displayed nature Lego creations!
Inexpensive membership with lots of perks. This place has tons of activities for both children and adults including grown up playtime wine tastings ale tastings festivals all for the price of Entry
Wow! Just wow! Seriously an incredible adventure, I went solo and had an absolute blast! Next time I visit Chicago I will make an extra trip here. They have 17,000 acres but I only did 6 miles but I know there was so much more to see. You would be impressed by this place and the giant trolls! Go here! Be one with nature! Enjoy!
A bit nontraditional for an arboretum, as there don't appear to be any flower gardens, or little signs in front of every tree. But a great big, sprawling, quiet beautiful place.
The arboretum is a magical place. To get to Narnia you have to pass through a cupboard but to go here you only need to pass through a gate. The sheer size of the arboretum is incredible, along with the majesty and beauty of it all. A great place for natural perspective. But one of my favorite things to do at the arboretum is the theater hikes.
Beautiful... we've gone several times, always something new
Great place to enjoy nature. Great Illuminations show.
Beautiful place. Worth a stroll around. So many good plants to see.
A true gem! The Children's Garden makes learning about nature fun for the kids and the hiking trails make exploring the arboretum's grounds easy and enjoyable. What a wonderful place for the whole family!
Went here for Illuminations and it was awesome! Loved the projection mapping on the trees and can't wait to see what they come up with next year!
Have-to-see place, especially in autumn! Mid-October fairy tale
