I little dissatisfied. It was not what we expected. The arboretum is like a few forrests, the labeling on trees is either missing or very brief. You need to drive if you want to see interesting trees. Most people come here to experience park and bike rather than knowledge

How can you not love the Morton Arboretum? Perhaps the only downside of visiting is that this place is so popular, its hard to find parking as well as a quiet place to escape the screaming of small unattended children. Other than that I dare you to find something else to dislike about this beautiful conservatory.

I grew up in Naperville 15 minutes from here and i never went. I took my wife and son for mother's day. Crazy expensive, but I get why. I am disappointed I never went as a kid, but now I can't take my kid.

Great place to go for a peaceful, quiet nature walk! Very affordable. They have long trails that take you through a variety of landscapes. You can have the kids go through the kids garden and have fun there. And before leaving can stop at the gift shop or Visitor Center for something to eat. Plenty of benches along the paths lets you stop and take in the scenary.

Illuminations is a great way to celebrate the season. The walk around the lake is lighted and lights are coordinated with music. The lake itself it lighted and the lights change often. It is a great destination for families as well. They coordinate arrival times to accommodate parking for which there is no charge. I highly recommend it before it closes.

The MA Has a winter event called "Illumination". Which is a mile long wintery hike, which is both wheelchair and stroller friendly as we wind around trees shrubs and lakes as they color nature with lights and fill your senses with music. The smells of hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows among the mulled wine Christmas cookies. I recommend EVERYONE should go at least once in a lifetime.

I love this place. I really need to get a membership. Was just there got chocolate weekend. Last month was the train show. Before that we went to see the Christmas light show, which is a must see. Have also been there for wine nights and just to walk or drive around, yes you can take a 30 min drive through the trees if you don't want to or can't walk the route. The price of admission is reasonable, but much better with membership. I have only visited the east side of the property. There is even more on the west side that I will see soon. Their web site is very helpful if you want to take a look at up coming events. They have a nice kids play area which would be great for safe exploring. Pretty much any time of the year, they have something going on. I'm not up for the skiing or snowshoeing that was going on yesterday, but pleny of other people were. It's a blast, but you have to see for yourself.

Big beautiful place if you know where you re going. You can get into a loop de Loop while seeking a destination, thanks to one way roads. But it is magnificent forestry and floralry- is that a word?

A wonderful place. An enormous preserve with several thousand acres of grounds, a lot of which are just open fields and woods. There are lots of trails to hike and there's a road that runs around the outside of the entire grounds which you can take a scenic drive on. I work across the highway from here and looking out at it makes you feel like you're not in the suburbs of the third largest city in the U.S.

The other really wonderful thing here is the children's garden, which I have visited several times with the boy I mentor. There are all kinds of interesting things to see, places to explore and fun activities for kids to do. He particularly enjoyed the stream, the pond with the stepping stones, seeing tadpoles, and the sluice with the water pumps.

They also have a lot of special programs like a fantastic interactive Christmas lights display every holiday season. Definitely worth visiting and possibly even getting a membership if you think you'll want to go more than once. Membership is also reciprocal at the Chicago Botanical Garden and many other places around the U.S., if I remember correctly. There's a gift shop and a cafeteria on the grounds where you can get lunch as well.

Paws days at the Aboretumit was so crowded it took us 45 minutes to make a left turn into the arboretum they had no volunteers directing traffic it was $15 for an adult $5 for a dog. Paths going to the Trolls were closed it was wet. There was nothing for the dogs to do in the past they had agility activities, people with treats for the dogs. I will never do this again it was ridiculous

Beautiful place. Worth the price, but be prepared to spend all day to get the money worth. Did you know you can even DRIVE your CAR through a designated road through the entire arboretum?? So if you get tired of walking, you can see the rest of the place from the comfort of your car. Or even hike a certain path only by driving to it first.
Also great for kids play time. They have mini mazes and natural playgrounds and craft stations within a large kid's section. Very creative. Very pretty.

nice

I've lived in Chicago all my life, but never stepped inside MA. I think the cost of admission deterred me. The membership has good value, but it's a drive to get here. This place rocks for kids, stroller and wheelchair accessibility. The children's garden is one of the best and we initially intended to stay for a couple of hours, but the kids just loved every nook of it and spent hours in one section. Highly recommended for children since areas are self contained. Chicago Botanic Gardens is prettier than MA, but my life had a boat load of fun here.

Beautiful arboretum with a great variety of tree species. Does get pretty crowded on weekends but usually just around the main area. You can escape to the outreaching areas. As an Arborist, I highly recommend.

You can come here feeling lazy, drive around and stick to the short trails. Or you can spend all day walking or biking the many, many options around the East and West side. Clean bathrooms; a luxury during this time of closed everything. Always a pleasure to visit.

From the phenomenal light show at Christmas to the Paws on the Trails events, this is the most beautiful place to come get gardening ideas, feel like your hundreds of miles away from home and learn about everything outdoors. I think this is the perfect staycation destination for every family in the area. Don't miss out!
