We love it. Wish our grandson would have had a little more patience. Too much to see and so little time.
Always a nice place to visit while in New York. Especially on a rainy day.
Seeing all the 'classic' art with my own eyes, I never thought they would move me that way. These familiar artworks which I have only seen in books and slides in class lectures were breathtaking to me!
Impressive collection of European art of the late 19th and early 20th century. At par with the best European museums.
What neat pieces can be found here. I had the best time.
MoMa is a beautiful and majestic space, with great lighting. The art is so unique and varied, truly lending to a great space for true artistic expression. This was my first visit since it was renovated. I especially liked the 4th floor with abstract and earlier modernist examples from artists such as Jackson Pollack, Wilfredo Lam, Ben Shaun, Lee Krasner, Fran s Kline, William Johnson and so many other icons of the modernist movement from the 1940 s and 50 s. Great experience you don t want to miss.
I always love visiting this museum but the policy on luggage really needs to be revised. With so many tourists coming through, it's inevitable that some will come with baggage while en route. I was told to take my bag to a nearby hotel and pay them $5 to watch it. Not cool.
This place had a weird collection of art and art. From my trip, I saw everything from a folding chair to Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. When I was there I saw a mixture of paintings that are seemingly meaningless and paintings that were of high skill by men like Picasso. For me, this is the type of place that is really cool to see once.
The exhibition in the 5th floor is great. Beautiful paitings from Picasso. The Modern bar room in the first floor is very good.
world famous, nice garden to sit in and take a break.
Some of the arts displayed is difficult to comprehend but it's a nice gradual introduction from the first level up. Provides a great opportunity to take pictures with really famous pieces. From observation, some of the security personnel can be a little aggressive. Overall the experience was good.
Not really my thing to be fair can't believe this is art but who an I to judge
A really good deal and must-see for those that love or even don't love art. Cool exhibits that mix it up all the time and the best gift shop ever.
I think I died and went to heaven. Awesome collection.
Amazing installation. A deep dive into the past and artistic world
I loved every moment. All the exhibits were amazing
I love the museum, the exhibitions and the way they are organize is great. I put the four stars because I went on free Friday and it s tOO CROWDED, you can t even see the paintings or walk without crossing someone in some rooms, but at the end all is worth it for the exquisite paintings they have there.
Legendary MoMa, if you are into modern art this is it. But the cloakroom is a surrealistic adventure, with annoying service attitude towards non-English speaking visitors.
Been to this museum dozens of times, but this is the first time I've had a poor experience.
Maybe the security guards were having an off day, but was it really necessary to bark at someone for going in the "wrong" side of an unmarked, circular, mostly unoccupied exhibit? Did I need to be followed around another floor when empty-handed (I had checked everything but my phone and a small notebook)?
Weird and off-putting. Be a while before I go back.
This place was by far my favorite experience of my entire New York trip. I got to see "starry night" in person amongst other recognizable works. I don't even have words for what I wanna express as an astounding experience.
Visiting MoMa is always a wonderful experience!
A collection of paintings, sculptures, photos, skectches, models, etc. of modern art.
It is nice to see the religious silence of people while they observe some masterpieces .
We arrived here quite late in the day but it was still busy. They had Andy Warhole pieces which are well known but also known & understood artists. I found the service a little surly which is unusual in NYC.
When you go to NY, you should come here maybe you know even if you aren t interested in modern art because you would probably find a favorite art:) my fave art is a colorful neon art in a basement:)
Most regarded selection of influential art. You will find pieces across all painting styles. All art lovers will have lots of fun discovering in person the works of Pollock, Van Gogh, Picasso, Matis and other artists. Easy to navigate layout of the gallery is definitely a plus. There is a cloak room, cafe, rich in interesting literature bookshop and a souvenir shop.
Get inspired. Be stimulated. Be aspired. It s an adult fun house. Wear comfy shoes for a long day!
Awesome Museum!!! Nice lay out. Beautiful paintings...Van Gogh, Picasso, etc. Wonderful place to spend a rainy afternoon.
5th floor, the best. You are going to start liking modern art.
Free Fridays are perfect! decent amount of people but not bad, great art
One of my favorite museums in the entire world! You probably already know that the entrance is free Fridays after 4pm?
Brilliant - I was more than astounded at the vast selection of things to see - the huge variety of popular artists, as well as their modern art section being so...beautiful. I loved it here.
Great place to kill time or learn about different kinds of art. Awesome to go alone or with someone else
Take time to visit this place. Allow at least 4 hours but half a day might be ideal for the condensed art appreciation
Great exhibits. Always something new! Louise Bourgeois on display now.
Museum is doing some renovation/ expansion. Enter on 54th St
Beautiful and large space, the exhibits were neatly arranged and displayed and everything was easy to get to and understand. Thank you for the excellent experience.
Never fails to impress. Something new each time you visit
Great museum, especially when your little cousin's employee discount card gets you in for free!
Amazing collection. A place you must visit! The art pieces are just magic.
a place to visit when visiting new york for sure!!
the gift store has so much to pick from :)
So overrated. There was such a high density of people there when we visited that it was almost impossible to actually see anything or have a nice experience. I guess we went for the same reason everyone else goes... and ended up seeing the same things, and taking the same pictures which you can see/ probably have already seen online...
My advice is:
Use the cloakroom if you're shopping on fifth ave and have additional bags/ layers to unload
Nobody actually checked our tickets for the entirety of our visit so paying is optional no matter what day of the week it is!
MoMA has an extensive collection of superb modern and contemporary fine art on display to suit all tastes. I was particularly impressed with the sculpture garden and also the Surrealism and post-1960 collections. The galleries are bright and spacious and the eateries offer a high standard of catering. I spent hours there and enjoyed every minute.
Always have a great visit. Get there early and it's quieter. Get there late and it gets more noisy and busy.
Best to visit on a weekday (Monday-Thursday) since it is not as packed! Due to COVID-19, there is also a limited capacity rule and if you like to have your space avoid on a weekend. The museum is kept very clean with many sanitizing stations and 6ft physical distancing is enforced. It s easy to navigate around and find your favorite art pieces here.
Very individual experience. They offer student and senior discounts making it affordable. I reccomend it to anyone considering.
You will need more than a day to enjoy all that's there for your enjoyment.
Great place for all interest in modern art! Others should stay away, you can also get selfies somewhere else!
Excellent exhibitions and location, security guards are too exposed to visitors
Amazing museum, so many exhibits ... Monet, Van Gogh's Stary Night, Rene Magritte's The Lovers . There was this Yugoslavian Exhibit too , which was dark and boring except for the Kosovo's University.
Amazing artwork, free on Fridays courtesy of UNIQLO!
Definitely one of the best museum in the world. They have some of the most impressive canvases and the best pop artists!
If you are pressed for time or not totally in love with modern art skip it. Better to spend more time at the met.
A fantastic collection of old favourites, and some unknown gems. A highly recommended visit if you like modern art, and art in general.
Been there done that. Interested in modern art this is the top notch museum, but unfortunately so crowdy. Best tip is to be there at opening hours
If you re a New Yorker, membership lets you visit without trying to do it all. Pack a lunch for the sculpture garden, drop in to see what photos are up in the ever changing exhibit, or marvel at the classics in the 5th floor. Art lab is small /limited but good for very young kids.
If youre in the area definitely check it out. Usually pretty busy but they have many interesting pieces. Good for any art lover. The garden is beautiful during the summer and perfect for relaxing.
Employees in the locker roon are very rude and threatening to tourists. I wanted to get refund.
I was disappointed. While I understand that art is subjective, I don't see how a pile of sand dumped on a hardwood floor is art. I wish we had done something else instead.
It's free on fridays evenings, so that's a good thing. There are some recognizable paintings like Van Gogh's Starry Night.
If you do not want to waste time resume yourself to visiting Monet, Matisse, Gauguin and other well known painters at level 5. Anything else were pretty "dry" for me
You could be here all day reviewing a variety of work!
I find it to be overrated but it's such an amazing adventure and the vibe as well. It's very diverse having everyone from around the world, so lovely. I went during this summer in July
The best collection of modern art anywhere, in a beautiful building. The paintings, especially are wonderful. Looking forward to seeing it when the remodeling is finished.
I enjoyed this museum. I went on the free night there and it was so unbelievably crowded I shouldn't have been a cheap fool and just paid for tickets. It was enjoyable seeing art from very famous artists. I mean it was ok.
This is a great art gallery. They have many well-known pieces and rotate out lesser-known artists. I was disappointed that my favorite was not showing this last time (Rauschenberg), but the changes and variety help keep it interesting for locals.
I'd recommend not going on free Fridays, even though it is tempting, unless you are absolutely bent on money, only in town for a short while, or if you live there and can stop by again. The number of people was overwhelming and made it difficult to truly enjoy the art.
Great place to shop! Love love love the key chains and the toys all around. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE & GREAT STAFF! I loved the shop when it was kid robot and still do!
Great experience. Highly advise at least one visit here
Very busy at Xmas and New Year, but still worth a full day's visit, with good food in the cafeteria also.
Beautiful museum with lot of modernism and very well selected contemporary art
Moma was actually a pretty neat place. My favorites were definitely the Van Gogh paintings, but there were some other famous works there, too. I really enjoyed the sculpture garden, especially because of how nice it was outside. It was a very peaceful place to reflect on the art, and chat with my friends. I got in for free because I m a student, which was nice. Since it s free, I d consider going back again. I think it s worth the trip.
Interesting museum to visit. If you only want to do a fast visit, with 2 h is enough, despite we were there before new rooms (will be update 2019 summer).
It's an amazing modern art Museum, but it's way too packed and 25 dollars an entrance.
My experience at the museum was very quickly cause I arrived late. I just had an hour to visit all the floors and I received a free guest pass just for the hour. It's awesome all inside there, and have automatic stairs to make the visit quickly and less tired. Everything at the gift shop is very expensive but it deserves the price. They have and Oscar at the exit.
Great for the classics. If you're not well versed in art check the website and see if there is a rotating exhibit that interests you.
For me, was worth a visit just to see Starry Night.
It s like a heaven of modern art, all great, all beautiful! If you are in New York and you love modern art, don t mis MoMA.
I went there at 5 o'clock on Friday. It's like time square. But the galleries are surprising.
After a renovation completed this year this is one of two the best of museums of 20th-century arts I visited (the other is the Hetmitage in St Peterburg). I especially recommend Picasso and German art.
