It's the MoMa. You have to come here. While art is perceived differently by everyone, you should be able to find something you enjoy here.

While there is a lot, it's a lot more manageable to see in a single day's session.

They had Starry Night on display when I came. Such an amazing piece.

I ve always loved going to The Museum of Modern Art, even when I was a teenager living in Jersey City, I d take the bus to New York City to study Picasso s painting, Guernica. For the last four years I ve been fortunate to have Jano Coritjo as our art historian and guide, who has led tours for my students whenever we can arrange trips to the museum. Recently the museum has undergone a major expansion and it s simply joyous to spend a morning or afternoon browsing the exhibits and enjoying the extraordinary art on display.

If you are visiting NYC you have to stop here. Breathtaking art, interesting architecture that accommodates a large crowd across several floors. The gift shops are really neat too, I don't find myself visiting them much but I am glad I did. Also the area around the building is prime real estate for things to do.

Last two floors are interesting, but the rest of the collection it's quite disappointing and the the place gets extremely crowded after 11.30am. It focuses too much on contemporary art wich makes it hard to distinguish the janitor tools from the exhibit itself. This is a personal opinion of course... But for me, a shovel is a tool and not a piece of art.

There are many good pieces of arts expo inside, but the day we went there were two important sections were closed without informing at the counter. It's like you buy tickets getting in Disneyland and find out Space mountain is closed.
And the ticket is just a piece of paper which I really don't understand. In Paris every museums treat their tickets as a small piece of art, a small card with nice print on it which for you to collet it.

Attended during a free Uniqlo night and I found all the subject matter boring. It wasn't distasteful, it just seemed too specific and niche oriented. I respect the institute, but I would like to see a more diverse display of artwork.

Its a Must to do if you are in NY, you will be delighted from every piece of art. This museum is cozy, not cold as many others, it has a large collection of the most renamed artist of the history. Don't miss the opportunity, and visit the exhibition and the store its all worthy. I enjoyed every second there and I will come back.

I've been to The Museum of Modern Art a couple of times now. Still, one of my most memorable first visits was when my Advanced Placement Art History class went on a class trip to observe some current art. As well as to discuss visual inspiration from older art forms. We arrived a little earlier and managed to explore part of the museum before the exhibit, Bjork: Songlines, was scheduled to start. The staff generally stayed out of the way but were still around for visitors to interact with. I personally dislike it when open spaces are constantly monitored so the spatial area of the MoMA was very comfortable place to walk through. There is a room on the second floor near the entrance in where the exhibition itself was held. It was a dark room which had no light except the light coming from the screen and enormous speakers. I absolutely loved it. My favourite thing about the place is clear glass wall which separates the interior from the outer stone-court-filled greenery. It is a lovely place to relax. The pricing of food at the food court in MoMA was a bit expensive though.

Mind-blowing collection of important 19th-20th-21st century art. The visitor's guide immediately directs you to Van Gogh's "Starry Night" on the top floor, since that's what a lot of visitors come to see--but to anyone with even a passing interest in modern art, every room on that floor will contain at least one or two epochal paintings you've seen reproduced everywhere: Picasso's "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon", Rousseau's "The Dream", Magritte's "The Lovers", etc., etc. It is almost overwhelming.

The other floors include rotating exhibits of major contemporary art.

Lots of famous paintings from Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Van Gogh, Magritte... Neither Dali s The Persistence of Memory, nor Warhol s Soup Cans, nor any Frida Kahlo were there due to temporary travelling.

as always, I really liked coming here. my fav this time was the exhibition on computer design in the early days of computers. the early icons and the hand drawn boards really did it for me. other than that I was pleased with a well working coat service, free wifi, not toooooo many people, a good mix of different art and styles. very pleased indeed.

Perfect place to stop on any New York sightseeing trip! Even better is getting in free on Friday afternoons. Of course it's a little more crowded then, but you'll save yourself a minimum $25 admission fee! Would be nice to see maybe at least one floor of more interactive art, but has a very nice sophisticated feel.

The moma is an iconic museum filled with gorgeous artwork. It is sometime is busy, but people are generally respectful and quiet. In Friday s, Uniqlo hosts and tickets are free in the evenings, the museum is extra busy at these times. The moma is very large and always has a variety of exhibits on display. Currently they are renovating a large section of the museum, but there is still plenty to see and enjoy. This is definitely a must see if you are ever in New York!

This museum is so huge there is no way you could possibly see everything in one visit. There are always new things on display, and it is always a great place to see a huge selection and variety of art.

Lovely museum. Probably among the best modern art collections in the world. Enjoy it while you're there. As an artist myself, I've been here numerous times and enjoy coming here. However, DO NOT BRING SMALL CHILDREN. The museum is really designed to accommodate adults and young adults over 13, and the dosents really REALLY do not like younger children. Of course, proper museum etiquette is in order here, so it goes without saying that touching works inside the galleries is not tolerated. Additionally, standing "too close" is not allowed, although nobody can give a good, consistent suggestion regarding how far back one can/should stand. Same rules apply to the outside sculpture park, as children are expected to follow rigid, invisible paths winding around the sculptures. Again, no indication as to where one can stand, only outraged dosents if you stand in the wrong place. You can touch SOME of the outside sculptures, but those aren't clearly indicated, nor are the ones you CAN'T touch roped off in any way. Some pieces inside are large, or put on a taller pedistal; you are NOT allowed to pick your children up for a better view. You are not allowed to pick up your children if they are tired. You are simply not allowed to pick up your children. There is a creativity/art studio for younger children, but honestly, we never made it there, as we were constantly reprimanded for simply existing (pointing at things will also get you the stink eye, it turns out). It's a great place to go for art lovers and some quiet reflection, I suppose, but don't attempt to foster any art appreciation here among younger children unless they are drugged and in straight jackets. Honestly, if all they can offer children is arts and crafts, I can skip the price of admission and let them loose in my studio.

This is a must visit place if you are into museums and modern art and when you visit NYC. The last time I was here I enjoyed viewing Dorothea Lange, Donald Judd, and other artists' works. Awesome feast to the eyes.

There is a lot of art here. Art appreciation has always been something of the human experience that has eluded me. Today was no different. Let's go over the highlights:

-Jackson Pollock. I like his work because it makes me think I could have been an artist without taking copious amounts of drugs.

-The Starry Night painting. Gotta see it. Been in a lot of movies. Celebrity painting for sure.

-Knockoff Monet water lilies. There's 3 of them, makes for a great panoramic selfie if you have one of those new cameras. Arguably better than the little one in France.

Lowlights:

-Picasso's absinthe spoon sculpture. Groundbreaking for using a real spoon in the sculpture? I was really born in the wrong era.

-The one all black painting on the 5th floor. Lazy.

-Gift shop. Very little branding. And no key chains.

They have some great works inside and some good special exhibits. The layout isn't the best once it gets crowded, it's hard to move around. Admission is on the high side but the audio guide is free.

World-class painting gallery on the 5th floor worth a visit. Staff friendly on that floor. Special events and performances every week during summer evenings. Price of admission is high, even the reduced rate for a New York student resident ($18). Museum shop has some interesting overpriced items.

Brancusi exhibit is amazing but have complaint about restrooms only available on the 1st Fl. I know they have to renovate some spaces but bear in mind that children, elderly, disabled, expectant mothers and babies need to have easier access to the restrooms. One on each floor at least. Otherwise the museum is wonderful with films and artist talks throughout the day with the docents.

MOMA has reorganized its collection into themed galleries, giving me one of the best experiences I've had there. We actually made it through the whole museum, giving short shrift to the crowded and familiar Modern collection. I love the artist-curated room. Several pieces stood out: a new-to-me Marcel Duchamp, a Tamayo, a black and white photo collage of a space in different light, a wooden puzzle sculpture, and a pen and ink drawing of a female centaur in someone's prison notebook. We did not hit the museum at the right time to hear and see Haegue Yang's Handles sculptures being manipulated. It's a pity that only happens once a day at 4 pm.

I did not know that Fridays after 4 is free admission to the Museum of Modern Art. I am only giving it a 4-star because I could not enjoy the exhibits as much as I would have wanted. It felt like the entire population of NYC was there to take advantage of the free admission rather than enjoy the works of art on display. Perhaps, if I had gone at another time....yes, I would have paid full price, but I would have gotten my money's worth.

So happy they are open again, a home away from from since I was a teenage member. They remembered me and were kind enough to comp me in although membership expired during pandemic. Since the pandemic messed up my finances, I guess I will be stuck in the Friday free entry crowd when that returns. Ugh! Very crowned.

Amazing ongoing collection of current and classic modern themes by artists surrounding elements of art, social topics, hyperealism, macabre. Central NYC location near all Transportation w nearby places to eat. Museum cafe is fair, though. Expect long lines to enter during high tourist season.

We love the children's 'Art Lab' here. The staff are lovely and we ALWAYS pay Art Lab a visit. Great for parents of young children, one parent can hang out with children in Art Lab while the other parent has a quiet walk around the galleries! With three kids that's what we sometimes do.
