Beyond disappointing.
Beyond disappointing.
For almost $300, neither parking (valet only @ an extra $26 per day) or breakfast (extra $12-20 each) are included. That is simply ridiculous.

Great staff. Historic hotel. The library was great.
Excellent, attentive, nice staff. The Library bar us great. Had the most amazing bath and all around relaxing time
The Melrose is a wonderful Hotel tucked in Oak Lawn area of Dallas it has a fabulous bar The Library bar that holds a interesting group of people any night you go not only patrons at the hotel but locals love it there.
Enjoyed The Library Piano Lounge. Wonderful wine and sultry songs!
Warwick Melrose Dallas - Dallas, TX
This should be a five star property, and easily could be with just a little focus and leadership from the management team. First the good, the Landmark restaurant servers were attentive, friendly and overall provided great service and decent food (especially Gene). The valet team also did a great job.
Now the bad. I didn't see a single smile from the hotel reception team. When we checked in, the receptionists seemed bothered and put out. There was a significant incident with a broken pipe above the lobby that caused major water leakage all over the beautiful rug and furniture in the lobby and the employees just stood around watching as if they were amazed it was raining inside. Meanwhile, the downpour continued affecting the entire ceiling of the lobby of this historic landmark. The deluge continued until a couple of hotel guests investigated and identified the source and brought it to hotel staff's attention. Many hotel guests in the lobby were shocked by the scene and saw no one doing anything to protect furniture or find the source. When staff members finally arrived, they brought a few buckets and stood there watching. Even when the manager arrived he stood there with no sense of urgency and told the guests, "We are waiting for maintenance". No one attempted to dry the furniture or move the carpet.
The ugly was the Library bar. In the bar we felt as though we needed to keep our hand on our wallets. The entertainment was really good, but the wait and bar staff again seemed inconvenienced by customers. Two specific incidents of concern with regard to the bar staff; 1) the waitress provided a receipt to a party of 6 with no itemized receipt and neglected to tell the customers 20% gratuity was included and 2) the bartender was asked for tonic water and told the customer that he would need to charge a couple of bucks for that and when the customer handed the bartender a five dollar bill the bartender pocketed the five and told the customer they were done and the bartender didn't appear to ring up the charge.
Previous experiences have been better. They still have posters up for live people that are supposed to be performing in the bar from years ago in the elevators with no notice that it is over a year old. They lied a couple of times instead of just telling the truth about why things didn't go right. It was cold and they said their car was being serviced when it was clearly parked where we got out of the day before. They did not have our room ready by 3pm and said we could not check in early due to cold weather either. The cold has nothing to do with having a room ready or check in. I was in the shower and hotel staff tried to enter the room after check in without permission. When I asked what they were doing they said they were checking the mini bar from the last guest to make sure I didn't get overcharged. I didn't use the mini bar and got a second bill for usage after I got home on my credit card. The hotel was clean and the room was nice, but the heater was central and some rooms were cold since there was no venting. I was let down this time and hope things improve in the future so it comes back to the standard it was when I was there previously.
I have stayed here several times and it always lives up to the expectations every time.
Excellent service!!!! Great place. Not a fan of some of the spots around there but ,was partying outside of Downtown anyway.
Cool decor. Bleak rooms with paper thin walls. No amenities. Don't think it's too much to ask for a bottle of water.
My friend and I were both assaulted by the front desk staff.
Very classy, nice room, nice restaurant and bar downstairs. But Internet is $11 a day. This seems ridiculous at this day and age. This is a nice and expensive hotel - they could spring for free WiFi in the rooms. Also, they don't tell you on the Internet login page how much Internet will be. You have go seek that out for yourself. This really put a bee in my bonnet. Otherwise outstanding hotel in general.
Be prepared to pay $27 valet parking every night-no self parking allowed. Room service was good, a little pricey with smaller portions. The beds were comfortable and warm which we loved, since it was a historically freezing weekend. The front desk wasn't very helpful, we had to ask for menus and where things were a few times. Room was huge with an awesome bathroom, gorgeous. They had built in Chromecast which was amazing for a snowed in day!
Omg pleasantly surprised great price! Very quiet rooms, great service bartender , valet guy , front desk , restaurant guy all did amazing job. The bed was to die for ... loved the old school hotel with modern finishes
Great Hotel! Atmosphere and rooms are phenomenal! Walls are thin, you can hear almost everything going on around you in the other rooms. An alarm went off early Sunday morning upsetting guest, because I could hear them upset from being woken up.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room, etc. was fantastic. It s in a fun, eclectic area and within walking distance of many restaurants, etc. The only downside is it is near a fire station, so you may hear sirens on occasion, but take note of the old firehouse. It is really cool.
Nice historic feeling hotel in Oak Lawn friendly service
Phenomenal stay. Beautiful old school classy property. Library bar was just regal. Staff is 5 stars all around. Rooms are very large and furnishings top notch. Great older neighborhood with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance or a quick Uber ride. Will definitely be back.
V fancy looking, super close to the LGBTQ bar scene.
Aubree Anna at the Library Bar is the perfect date night.
Spent our anniversary here. Beautiful hotel, great location. Clean rooms. Love the historic charm! Friendly staff.
Great location. The room had a distinct odor that was not pleasant. Staff was friendly. Gym was quite dated.
The worst customer service I ve ever experienced in hospitality.
This adorable hotel is like taking a little trip back in time. My room was spacious and adorable. The lobby is not big but so elegant. I ate dinner at the Library enjoying the best lobster Mac and cheese I've ever had while listening to the piano player/singer who was phenomenal! I'll definitely be back!
Nice place but hard to get in and out of the parking lot during the festival
I've stayed at this property many times and while it definitely has it's old charming character, there are many aspects of their rooms that are far behind that shouldn't for the price you pay. My most recent stay, I paid after taxes, $200 for one night. And these are some of my complaints: 1. Old squeaky bathroom and closet doors that don't even shut/seal all the way. 2. Very old carpets that have foot traffic stains. 3. The toilet was pushed so far into the bathroom corner that I literally almost had to sit sideways to have enough room to comfortable use the bathroom without feeling cramped and I'm a small framed person.
4. The bathroom lights all had a different color temperature bulb so lighting was very inconsistent between warm and cool tones. 5. The only lights in the bathroom were above the vanity/sink/toilet. Unfortunately there was a divider wall between those lights and the shower so I literally had to shower almost in the dark. 6. There was construction going on in the building and I woke up at 7AM to banging and hammering behind my wall. 7. The shower curtain was too short for the shower. It literally sat on top of the bath tub edge so during a shower, the curtain would fall outside of the shower, causing the floor to be soaked with water.
The Bed was amazing. Probably one of the best I've ever experienced.
Staff is super friendly.
Great downstairs bar and music room.
Room size, even for a basic King room was very spacious and large.
Great huge windows.
The hotel has it's charm, but I feel like the prices charged are a bit high considering I can go to a new property, with none of these drawbacks for almost 1/2 the price for a quick overnight stay. But I guess you're paying for the name.
Loved the atmosphere... was visiting a friend who was staying there so I didn't get the full experience, but overall it seemed very nice.
Fantastic place to stay. GREAT rates!!! Luxury at its best !!!!!
Rooms were comfy, staff was friendly. Only there overnight, but would definitely stay there again. Easy access to the gayborhood.
When I entered the lobby on a very rainy night, I felt as if i were at home. Fresh flowers, classical music and helpful service people all made it a refuge from the storm and from a long day. The beds were so inviting. The bathroom was sparkling. I can t wait to return.
It was a very upscale swanky location that maintained an intimate feel. Great drinks and apps. I was there for a company hosted happy hour.
I love the small piano bar called Library in Melrose Hotel .. The music is always great, the atmosphere is cozy and you never know who you will meet at this little bar. They also serve Japanese Whiskey. You gotta visit at least once.
It is a very nice and cozy hotel, with a nice view of two residential avenues, millions of people visit it a year, the workers are very kind ..
Lovely and gracious old fashioned hotel in the heart of Dallas' uptown area. I love the love nightly piano jazz at the library bar. And the food is excellent. Perfect for a romantic getaway or just some gracious treatment and old-fashioned grown-up time away.
I actually used to work for this hotel, so my review may be a little biased. The guys at the front desk are always so sweet. Especially Bernie. Any time I come in now, he greets me EXACTLY how he greets every single guest, with a fantastic warm smile.
If you are looking for a great drink, The Library Bar is one of the best places for that. Ask Mohsen to make you a Til Morning. Tell him Melissa said hi. Gabriel is just as wonderful, one of the best bartenders I know. Both of those guys run that bar so well, it's amazing. The servers: Sindy, Meghan, Amie, Rosa - ALL top notch. It was such a pleasure working with these guys. And the music ties it all together! Dalene on Monday, Erik Barnes Tuesday through Thursday, Goga on Friday, Aubree-Ana on Saturday. Each one of these talented artist have their own style that makes each night of the week special and unique on it's own. The Warwick Melrose hotel is lucky to have all of these people on staff.
Big shout out to the sales ladies! They are some of the hardest working, yet sweetest people I have ever met.
Andrew is also one of the greatest GM's I ever had the pleasure of working with. He helped me out more than he realizes during a time of personal need. I will forever be grateful to him for that. I will always consider this hotel and those people family.
The Library has a great experience and atmosphere with a bar. Alex is the best bartender I have ever met. He knows how to mix the drinks from light to strong. Gad was our waiter, he was polite and came time to time to ask if we needed anything and or how everything tasted. I had the smoked brisket sliders and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.
It was a wonderful hotel, great hospitality and service. My only qualm is that the regular musical guests have music that can travel a bit into the upper floors, so it may disturb you if you are trying to sleep. We stayed on the 2nd floor and could hear music on both nights. That being said, I would definitely stay her again. It is in a great location and easy to navigate.
Nice clean hotel. Friendly staff was very helpful. The hotel is located near many attractions and most importantly near good restaurants.
Excellent service from everybody! Gene, Sarah and Alyssa especially stood out in being very welcoming!
It was alright. Nothing too special. Could get alot more for less money. But not bad over all.
Beautiful historic hotel in a great location. Super clean and comfortable room with elegant decor combined with helpful and friendly staff make this place credible of a 5 star rating.
A very regal feeling hotel. Do not book a room on the side next to the fire department, or you will hear sirens all night. I had a great king-sized room, awesome service. It is a solid 4-star hotel, but located in a very nice part of the city to give patrons access to a lot of cultural landmarks.
Wonderful historic hotel with current upgrades to allow me to plug in those "necessary" devices like call phones. Awesome staff. It was a lovely stay.
We stopped here for drinks on a Saturday night. Very pricey for what you get, but it was a lively atmosphere.
We really loved this place. Excellent, attentive staff. Beautiful old world charm. Did not act lije a chain more of a boutique type of stay. Rooms were comfy , well decorative but had great access to electronic charging capabilities for our officie work.
And the library bar was the best part of unwinding in the late evening. We met interesting local people that consider the Library a great treat. And their singers in the bar added a great ambiance.
I will miss this place
This is a 4 star review with some caveats.
The desk staff was exactly what I expect at a more luxury oriented hotel. Attentive, professional and friendly. My room was perfect, nothing to complain about there. The only reasons not to give this a 5 star rating was:
1) The bar staff, while attentive, was busy talking about Friday night's escapades quite loudly, but since they were attentive and the drinks didn't feel short poured it wasn't a huge deal.
2) The hotel is right next to a fire station which can be rather annoying.
Those 2 things weren't huge issues because as I said, the bar staff at least didn't let my glass run dry, and you can't do a whole lot about where the fire house is going to be.
The only constructive criticism I can offer is maybe don't require valet parking to park on the premises. That's been pretty common at a lot of hotels I've stayed at, so I'm not even docking the rating for that.
Overall, I'd probably stay here again, I just might avoid it on the weekends since this is a pretty active neighborhood, and I've heard the fire truck 4-5 times tonight. Make that 5-6, they just left again.
Huge beautiful room and very quiet. Price was very reasonable for such a classy hotel.
The bar is mega cozy and the atmosphere is romantic. Too bad getting a seat is kinda hard
Very nice hotel smells really nice when you walk in.
Beautiful location. Security was nowhere to be seen.
The hotel was awesome the staff was top notch, was at our family wedding and they made sure everything was perfect and allowed us all to have a great time. Will visit anytime I'm back in the area.
Totally loved the Lumen. The staff at the front desk were so friendly and helpful from the minute we checked in to the time we checked out. The lady on front desk (Jazzelyn?) even went out of her way to help us try to get tickets to tour AT&T stadium, even letting me use her own mobile phone to call. She was so helpful and really left a great impression of the Texan hospitality. We enjoyed the wine reception on our first night, and the kids loved the Cocoa station. Hotel is just across from SMU campus which is a beautiful place to walk. We visited the George W Bush Presidential Library which was a 15 min walk from the hotel through the SMU campus. Hotel is a short walk to nearby Snider plaza for restaurants, and there is a seven eleven very close by if you want to grab a quick snack for breakfast. Probably our one negative would be cost of valet parking....$22 plus tax. Other than that, would totally recomend this hotel for any stay in Dallas.
Very clean and freshly remodel. Friendly staff and large rooms. Loved my stay here and would gladly stay again.
Room was tasteful And emergent as always. Hotel concierge service is top notch. Absolutely satisfied.
Very nice and clean hotel. It is an older building but has been updated. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good location.
it was nice and it smelled nice - except for this one room that they were airing out. All the windows were open in a Dallas summer, somebody must have died in there.
Helpful staff, nice lobby/restaurant, rooms are a bit older looking/feeling
Great hotel. The rooms are spacious and great bedding to sleep at night.
Seems to be a nice place. Location is off Cedar Springs in uptown Dallas on the corner of a major street. Small parking lot found Cedar Springs side. Looks to be an older hotel, but still seems nice
Great place to stay, definitely a top place in Dallas area
Good location for the bars! Comfy bed. Convenient shuttle service.
They have great, friendly, and knowledgeable staff.
We were very disappointed in our recent stay at the Warwick. The hotel itself is nice, but someone used a key and tried to come in to our room at 7 am, waking us up. Then the construction started!! The banging was so loud we could barely have a conversation, much less sleep! This was our first night away from our kids in over a year and we desperately needed some sleep. When we checked out and complained they said, oh yes that s the roof construction, there s not much we can do about that. Then 1. Warn us about it and 2. Don t put us on the 7th floor right below it! Maybe don t stay here while they are doing construction.
After visiting the east coast for a couple of months, I wanted to visit the Melrose Hotel - stay in luxury for the night when I returned home in November. I wasn't disappointed! My bestie picked me up from the airport & we drove straight to the hotel & were greeted in the parking lot by a sweet valet. The parking lot was pretty crazy, seemed unorganized, but this nice man took the time to help us get inside. Found out they had a wedding reception going on!
The reception area was not busy and we got our room keys with no hassle. The lobby was gorgeous! Our room was nice and when I called down for more towels, they brought them right up. Yes, the rooms are very old, but if you wanted a shiny new hotel, you would have stayed there, right? I chose this hotel for it's old age ambiance.
We visited 'The Library' (the bar) for a bit around midnight & chatted with some nice people. It was very nice. Some wedding party people trickled in, but they behaved themselves, lol.
In the morning we had breakfast in the restaurant. We both ordered egg white omelets, with spinach & mushrooms & cheese. They were SO good! Very fresh ingredients. Our server Gene was so nice and he was very attentive. Loved the dining room, very elegant, but not stuffy.
When I got the final bill, we had an erroneous charge which was cleared right up after I called accounting. I wish I would have taken more photos, but I've uploaded a few...
Thanks for welcoming me home in style, Warwick! I hope to return some day soon!
Affordable, Super Clean, Friendly. Valet service and employees were wonderful.
Love this hotel. Felt like I stepped back to 1930. Room was very nice. Staff was excellent. Only negative is the outside noise being near the cool fire station.
The hotel rooms were nice, however service needs much improvement. Within an hour of getting settled in my room, the door was opened by a housekeeper without notice. It happened again a second time about 30 minutes later by a different person. Once arriving home I found a $9 charge for water on my credit card (that I did not consume.)
The room and main lobby looked very nice and it was easy to get into and out of the hotel parking lot.
This has been a very nice hotel visit. My only complaint would be not having fridges in the room
Stayed there overnight to attend a wedding. The front desk employees were rude and anything but courteous. In fact, they were they were condescending. The best thing about the hotel was the bellman (Leon), who was cheerful and helpful. He took time to remember my name. Further, the valet parking staff was also very helpful. One must assume they are contracted out. The lighting in the room is poor. The faucet in the bathroom was missing parts and leaked all night long. For an all inclusive hotel... they miss the mark. Lastly, they charge you for incidentals even if don t use any. They do credit the funds back into your account later, but it s a slick way to use your money for a few days. Multiply the funds for each guest in the hotel chain, it is another revenue source for the hotel. I will never stay there again... totally overrated and under trained staff. Much better experience at motel 6.
Cool that it used to be an old apartment building. Spacious rooms, easy to get to places within walking distance. Very nice staff. Valet parking is almost required here.
Very nice accommodations. Housekeeping staff was fantastic. Bar and restaurant are rather upscale and you will feel awkward if underdressed. It's an old building so power outlets are hard to come by.
