Butter stick on every dish, including a slice of bread. Blech.
Had a ball with wife , son, and daughter in law. Murder on the Orient Express was great at the alley theater.
I have been going here 30 years and it is still the same good food and great Bellinis
Nice atmosphere. Convenient location as it's about a block away from Jones Hall. The service was friendly. I had the spinach pasta alfredo with chicken & mushrooms. It was very bland.
The atmosphere was a bit dated but pleasant. The food could use a little more flavor.
The Grilled Pork Chop with Spaghetti is one of the best I ate in Houston. The texture of the spaghetti just blended well with the sauce and the pork chop itself. Just as with all the restaurants in the city, parking around here can be a nuisance.
Really great burgers here. I had one problem and it was resolved quickly. I live eating here and it a go to place of choice if you want a huge cooked however you want burger and fries. They are mostly an Italian food restraint but are not shy to just Italian food for those that prefer something different.
My husband and I stumbled upon this little gem today. The food was good. The service was fast and very friendly. This is a very cozy yet spacious restaurant. It's definitely worth a try. We enjoyed our meals and drinks.
Horrible! I bought $20 Voucher for Carry-Out or Delivery for my lunch through Groupon. I ordered by phone and decided to pick up my food. I arrived and called to confirm that my food is ready yet. They put me on hold and transferred me to 3 people.
Finally my food is ready. I stepped inside the restaurant with wrong attitude from waiter. I asked "what's going on, why you used that attitude on me"
I asked next question "I feel you don't like to serve Groupon customer?" -He said "Yes"
Surprised me I asked again "so I am cheap because I bought my meal through Groupon?" - He said "Yes". I repeated the 2 questions to confirm what he said as "Yes" (12.55 pm on 2/2/2018)
If you don't like customer, please stop listing on Groupon
Meal was gotten as take out. The noodles seemed fresh. The alfredo sauce was mostly flavorless and applied sparingly. The chicken which was pre diced and seemingly premade the evening before. Not worth the price, and not worth your time.
Went for our 5 year anniversary. Very elegant atmosphere & delectable menu.
The food is always great and our Server also was great. The only thing the blonde hostess was a rude to hurry us up. Because a 5:30 reservation. No told us nothing about that. Made us feel low. Why were we single out if all the people who were there. But the owner took care of it. And comp our order to go. He was cool. Blonde can go to you know where.
The curtain call salad entree and dessert is a good meal and a good value .
It was my first visit and it was a really good experience all around! great meal , great service, great music and wonderful atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place and Would go back again !
I really like this place. My boyfriend and I brought in the New Year here (Jan 2018). They had party favors and live music for everyone. We had great seating and the waitstaff was friendly and patient. The restroom was clean also. The food is pretty basic, but I liked the overall atmosphere. I would came back here for lunch on another day to see what is like as well.
Still a downtown winner. The house red was good and food excellent. Service was a little slow.
Excellent food and environment is very cozy, we get to meet the owners, super cool people. I will recommend .
I have been going to Birraporetti's for as long as I can remember and it never disappoints. From bellinis at the bar after a rehearsal to full seated dinner with family, the food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch.
Most excellent downtown theater district Italian restaurant.
Had a very horrible experience 1st time here we walked in no one greeted us had to find some one and he just told us to go head so we proceed to the bar and sat there for 10mins before someone even spoke and I really think they only spoke (because the ladies beside us call them over cause they needed them ) they spiked and walked away and we waited another 4 mins and was getting up to leave and they decided to co.e over we ordered a drink that tasted like water and when we told the bartender he looks and laughed and goes taste it and never offered us to replace it so we left I have never in my life felt uncomfortable in a restaurant the only reason I gave it 1 star is because I use the restroom and it was nice
Really enjoyed the spinach chicken alfredo dish. My girlfriend got it and loved it, we came back the next day for lunch and we both had it. Service was great too. I'll come again next time I'm in Houston.
Delicious dinner, prompt and friendly service, and nice atmosphere. Perfect place to eat before catching a show in the downtown area.
Amazing restaurant!! One of the best restaurants at Houston! The staff is very friendly, and they are very attentive. And the fact that they are open until midnight makes it perfect if you are planning on having dinner after going to the Jones Hall Theater. We had spinach fettuccine, pizza and fish. The three of them were absolutely amazing.
Nice atmosphere and good music playing in background. I had a soup and half sandwich for lunch - it was good.
Great spot to eat an American classic restaurant chain very good food good sauce recommend you visit downtown location it is actually nice after the hurricane renovations
Good prices awesome food and the works are very attentive
The food was good. The murder mystery was entertaining but started late and went too long. They ran out of food. The murder victim had a GORGEOUS voice. Would love to hear more of her voice.
I always have a GREAT experience & enjoy the atmosphere, food and service/ wait staff.
Great food, great entertainment, great company... The type that money can't buy!!!
Always great food and very well priced for the location. And the amazing support they show to military members is fantastic!
Great pizza, service and atmosphere just before the show
Went there with some family.
Had a good lunch.
Went for mother day breakfast buffet. Food was great, great selection but a little slow on service and they really weren't busy the time we showed up. All in all pretty good place, buffet is a little pricey at 32.95 but it's mother's day and nothing I had was bad so great job.
Atmosphere was good, food was awesome, wait staff attentive, music fantastic! #BigAlBettis
Best pizza in town
We sat at the bar and still received excellent service from Chris
We will come back.
Always a great time! Good food and friendly staff!
This was one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. The food was amazing! It was clearly fresh and made upon order. The price may be a little higher than some, but it is well worth it. I got the Salmon. It came with a type of peppercorn alfredo sauce and asparagus. Delicious! I would definitely recommend wholeheartedly.
Traditional look. Beautiful wood bar.
Great food and friendly staff!
Great food , live music, option for vegetarian available on request
Dead, HORRIBLE decor. Manager REFUSED to say hi to me and I was the ONLY customer there. Horrid management, place looks like it threw up the 80's... They just need to close their doors forever! Horrible management, they sat at the bar drinking and totally ignored the TWO customers there. Bad. bad, bad business.
Awful murder mystery...awful service and hostesses may have been high and non caring
Great food good service. The one in Arlington, Tx is much better but this one in Houston is very good. Definitely recommend. Ate the Pollo Poretti, fettuccini Alfredo, and crab cakes, although the cakes were low in crab.
A couple of weekends ago my friends and I took in a play at the Alley Theatre. Afterwards we popped in here. I've heard so much about it, so I was excited to try it. Most of us ordered the pizza. It was yummy.
The food was good the breakfast Jazz Brunch is a plus
The Seafood Sampler My Fav
4 handfuls of calamari
2 BIG JUMBO grilled shrimp
2 crab cakes
Great Menu

One star only because waitress was super nice. Had dinner before Houston marathon, food was mediocre at best, parmesan was Kraft type in a shaker. Expected much more from a non chain Italian restaurant. Will not be returning.
Food and service was great Chris and waitstaff do a good job!
One of my favorites downtown. Nothing fancy, but good food, good prices. Very convenient to the Alley Theater.
My husband and I came in for an early dinner and sat at the mid bar. It took a solid 10 minutes for anyone to talk to us, we finally had to ask for service and it took another 5 minutes for our drinks to come. Our waitress was rude and non attenative. A waitress decided it was a good idea to spray a giant cloud of Lysol in the main dining room like right over another table. Service was absolutely terrible, I am literally writing this at our seats as we are still waiting on the check.
The only positive thing about our experience was the busboy Donald. He refilled our drinks and checked on us more than our waitress.
The food was bland, not terrible but nothing special. we just couldn t get over the crappy service.
I ve never been one to write bad reviews but I felt the need on this one.
Great for Sunday Brunch and any meal serve anytime. Find out when Nonette sings! Fantastic place for dinner before or after the theatre...and they are open late!
Terrible Service
Food was Sub Par did not taste like restaurant quality
Went to dinner for my nieces birthday dinner and ordered the lobster ravioli and crab cakes and Cesar salad . mind you the price is $ 34.00
they brought me three small ravioli and 2 looked like 2-3 ounce so called crab cakes .
i asked the waiter if this was lunch portions and he said no this is dinner portions .
i then informed him i was not happy with this meal and wanted another .
He told me oh well maybe they should put pictures on the menu.
I then told him no they don't need to put pictures but for these exuberant prices they need to portion the food accordingly . i have eaten this same combo at many of the finer establishment and the portions were double and often times less expensive .
i will never go to this establishment again and will never recommend this place.
Stay Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I meet some friends at Birraporetti's and since it was a Friday night, they had they're murder mystery show. We all had a good time participating in the murder mystery. They kept us wondering and laughing as well. The food was good and the staff was very friendly and polite. We'll have to come back and see other performances.
Excellent food, with an atmosphere to match. The people were very friendly. The parking was great.
As much as I hate to give it 2 stars...I have to. My Valentines day was definitely ruined for horrible management. We were told that 80 ppl made a reservation but 120 ppl showed up. We were able to go down to the basement at 7:45. We didn't get to to eat until 9:30pm! 2 HOURS later! Had to wait for food trays to be refilled. Told one of the workers that there were no plates nor salad left and they gave us attitude...I know he was frustrated and so were we. Show was good but super rushed, I mean they were running 2 hours late. Show only lasted about 30 minutes. They were so adamant about ppl showing up but didn't started till super late that several people didn't even stay for the whole show because it was so late. They should've checked ppls reservations! I was so worried about our reservation so everything would be perfect I called earlier in the day to confirm my reservation and they didn't even check when we arrived. There was 6 of us/triple date who suffered and had our night ruined. Mama Lasagna was the only good thing about this night.
Fettuccine alfredo was delicious and service was great.!! Will definitely be back.!
Crab cakes were delicious, but the poor waiter, I don't think he knows English... I asked if I could substitute the pasta, he said yes, then charged me extra...
The pizza was pretty good but the prices are what you'd expect at this great location.
Next to mine, they have the best spaghetti sauce in town; however, at $14 for a plate of spaghetti they lost my daily business. I now go only once a year, if at all. Let me know when you stop charging so much for 25 cents worth of pasta. Thank you!
Service was 4 star. Food was solid 3 star. Sadly out of 4 dishes 2 tasted like they where stright from sysco. My veil was over cooked but the garlic butter helped cover the dry meat. The lobster ravioli was ran through a blender first. Doughtful they where homemade
The desserts tasted the same, stright from syco, except the chocolate moose. It was bland but I believe it was made in house.
All and all I will give them another chance one day.
Very Delicious. Great Service, and spectacular food!
In the heart of the theater District and steps away from the alley theater entrance. The service is very friendly, but somewhat hectic before showtimes. Food is good, not great, but reasonably priced. There was a singer/ guitarist when we stopped for dessert and drinks after the show Friday night. He was entertaining and loud enough to enjoy without disrupting conversations.
Amazing Italian food at Houston. Well trained staff and neat ambience
gave us free water after the brockhampton concert, right before closing. the bartenders are so so so appreciated THANK YOU
The stuffed mushroom caps & escargot are wonderful!
Noteworthy for the expense, not necessarily the food, which is average and forgettable. It's not bad...it's just not great either.
Most recent visit made up for several "not so good" visits. So, I will leave the bad review off. Our most recent visit was after Matinee Ballet on Sunday. We were hosting a gathering to enjoy time with our Ballerina! We had very close friends and much family in attendance.
(My sisters did not want to return to Birraporetti's...
This was a problem as we had 3 small little girls who were included in our party. The Ballet was quite long (Sleeping Beauty)...and we did not want to risk these little fans becoming too tired.)
The convenience factor has always been an advantage at this restaurant; however, we truly were ready to never return...
Consequently, I called and spoke with Earnest, the Maitre d' of Birraporetti's and shared my concerns. I needed to know this would be a good experience as 3 previous visits absolutely were NOT...
He was so sincere...Earnest assured me he would be there, and would personally make sure we were WELL taken care of...
Gotta say, it was above and beyond!!! Our waiter was a PRO!..Jeffrey/Geoffrey...(not sure of spelling) handled our table of 20 superbly!!!! He even, flawlessly handled multiple checks. There was an automatic 15% gratuity included in each check; but, I am quite sure, most everyone added at least 5% more.
(Earnest, made sure we had place settings/water and complimentary bread/cheese breads at the table.)
.....Wine & cocktails were continually served; as was water/tea topped off before the bottoms were in view!
.....Dirty/empty dishes were whisked away...and we ate and conversed to our hearts content!
Earnest came by to introduce himself, and welcomed me and my party personally.
What a great day! Fantastic show; beautiful Ballerina; topped off and fully enjoyed by Delicious Meal served with Five Star Service!!!! *****
Thank you Earnest and Jeffry...WE WILL MOST CERTAINLY BE BACK!!!
Sincerely from a RENEWED patron!!!
We've been twice & it was great both times. Wonderful atmosphere & good food at decent prices considering your in downtown. We're on our way back for a 3rd time right now!
Great place to eat before or after a show. Within comfortable walking distance of The Wortham.
A Houston mainstay for years, I've always had fond memories of Birraporetti's. I hadn't been in probably 20 years, but a trip to the theater took us nearby again. From the hostess, to the appetizer, all the way through our after dinner Irish coffee, everything was excellent, just as I remembered it! This time I was able to take my son along, and introduce the next generation to delicious Italian!
The good is always good, but the service always slow...
Loved the food, atmosphere, service. It was a wonderful evening.
Best Italian food in Houston (Not even close to an Olive Garden) lol
We came to eat a late dinner after seeing The Nutracker. The service and atmosphere were great. We ordered bruschetta, grilled beef fillet and pasta poretti. The food was all delicious! We will definitely go back when in the area.
Decent happy hour food rates. The sausage and meatballs are good and the pizza is decent.
Disappointing food for a terrible value. Great atmosphere and the waiter was nice and friendly.
I've enjoyed Birraporetti's for 20+ years now starting back when they had a handful of locations in Houston.
However for the last couple of years it's been hit or miss on food preparation and quality. Sometimes they nail it and other times it's just fair. This last visit was one of those just fair visits.
Its always a pleasure to dine here. Service is impeccable and food is more than outstanding!
Fun live music on Mon PM.
Be sure to Tip the band, theres no cover Some bar food all night happy hour specials if you ask for them.
